Audley Grimm Audley sighs and gazes at the students in front of her with an expression that wars between boredom, indifference, and mild disapproval. It seems to be her normal expression.
"Welcome to Curses, Hexes, and Spells. I am Professor Grimm. This is Hugo," she says, pointing to the small black bat that flits excitedly around her head. "Just as a general note, mess with Hugo and I will make you wish you weren't born."
She levels a glare at each student before continuing.
"If you are in this classroom, that means that you must have some magical ability. If you do not, please exit the classroom now. Some magical ability, even a small amount, is required to cast spells, hexes, and curses. This class is meant to teach the basics. On another note, anything that you learn in this classroom stays in this classroom. Practicing outside of class without my knowledge and consent is strictly forbidden and the consequences will be cruel and unusual."
She pauses to hand out copies of three worn, leather-bound books to each student.
"These are the basic texts for the class. You cannot possibly study them enough. They will help you in your understanding for the class and I expect you to read each one thoroughly. However, witchcraft and the use of spells does not always require the caster to stick to spells learned from books. It is quite easy and enjoyable to create your own curses, hexes, or spells. That is what we will begin learning today. By the time you graduate from this class, you will know how to cast effective spells, curses, and hexes in battle, and you will have created a small repertoire of unique spells that you can use in official academy duels. On one more note, if any student should experience unpleasant and lingering effects from any spell, curse, or hex, feel free to see me after class. Now then, let's get to work."

Spells were handy, especially for demons, after all they had to be able to disguise their true appearances, often dealt with reapers, and suffered the effects of binding spells time to time. Yes, this was a class Sin felt obligated to attend. She knew she had the minor magical abilities of her kind, but in truth she had never actually performed magic of anykind. Well, everyone had to start somewhere right? You weren't just born casting spells and such...well she wasn't anyway.
She slipped into a seat, second row as was her usual and glanced around. No doubt the class would just be chalk full of reapers, witches, caster types. She didn't mind too much but they still made her a tad nervous. It wasn't too uncommon to hear a story of a powerful magic wielded who kept a pet demon.

Curses, Hexes, and Spells, Mai thought with an uncharacteristically serious expression on her pale face. The ghost had no idea how well she was able to harness magic herself, she had never tried before. Never had much motivation to try. But she was dead set on learning now.
She was hesitating at the entrace, but what was the worse that could happen? If she showed no promise, they'd probably just flunk her... But if she was able to learn something, maybe she could figure out how to get this Jack-be-damned spell seal off her face. The compulsion it put on her to 'obey' was starting to unnerve the usually laid back ghost. Especially since she had no contractor to direct her. She needed to figure something out, before she started begging people to give her orders. That.. simply would not do. She preferred to spend her days relaxing, thankyouverymuch.
She took the ghostly equivalent of a deep breath and floated in. Immediately, she slipped into the nearest seat and pulled out her notebook and pen. There seemed to be some time before class started so she idled by drawing swirly designs in the margins of the first page.

With a great swinging motion of intense interest mixed with a great deal of excitement, Belladonna sauntered into the classroom, happy to finally start her schooling. This was the very reason she had come! This class, while probably not being the pinnacle of her school career, was at least a very good start! So it was with a great deal of gusto that she entered the room. Maybe too much, because her hoop skirt knocked into a desk that was just a bit too close... It was even more unfortunate that the desk held a ghost that seemed to be doodling.
"Oh! I'm so very sorry!!" Belladonna cried, hopping back a good bit before scurrying to the front of the class and claiming a desk in the front row. Hhmm, this was odd. She never sat in the first row and now she was and maybe it was due to her excitement for the class, but she didn't want to look like a suck up, so maybe the second row held better value. Yes, definitely the second row. Of course the second row held a rather pretty demon with gorgeous wings.
"I like your wings. They're very pretty." Belladonna whispered to the demon next to her. For a moment she glanced back at the ghost she had disrupted, hoping the blue girl had forgiven her. Maybe she should consider lessening the sheer volume of her outfit? ..........................................Definitely, definitely NOT.

Now here was a class that Coralie knew would be useful. While it was easy enough to doubt the applications of dusty old literature books or other such things, this had a very practical and visible application. It didn't mean she was skipping her way through the door, a she was under know illusion that there wouldn't be work involved, but at least her spirits and energy were high. She wouldn't be trying to leave this class early, even if they did do nothing today.
Oddly enough, Luka had insisted this class was far too interesting to miss and had decided to come along. The little black cat clung unyielding to the back of her scarf as she strode into the room, ignoring how Wilfred glared at him from atop of Coralie's head. He twitched his whiskered and peeked around, but refused to let go or get down. He did, however, have to shift a little when Coralie too her seat so he wouldn't get smooshed by its back.
Looking around the class, Coralie found it was the first time she wasn't met with a multitude of monsters, demons, and ghosts. Instead it seemed reapers were dominant here. What was even funnier was a different friend, which she commented on aloud with a grin, "Well, this class is terribly full of estrogen, isn't it?"

She had heard from her mother that originally, Spider Demons were connected to magic, having been common spiders who gained magical powers after a long life... Thus, the class 'Curses, Hexes, and Spells' quickly caught her attention although she knew that Demons tend to lose out to Reapers where magic is concerned; still, it sounded like a handy skill to have after graduation and she was still determined to try out most of the classes before deciding on which ones to "settle on".
She scanned the room before deciding on a seat that was in the second row; it was at the front enough for her to focus, but not enough to make the teacher assume that she was actually any good with magic. Of course, there being a familiar face seated in the second roll was a bonus. With a smile, she placed her arms around the witch's shoulders and gave her a quick hug (ah, how she miss hugging people) before settling down in the seat beside her.
At the three books handed out to the students, Lizzy became a little distracted as she stared at them, her expression looking to be a mix between joy and fascination; study and books? A great combination as long as the content is not actually too boring. Turning to the Demon the witch was speaking to, she smiled, "Hi! Don't believe we've been formally introduced?"
