Roleplay Guide - Active Roleplays

[ - Last Updated: 11/24/10 - ]

{A BIG thanks to Just Before An Eclipse, Ken Kurosawa, and kroska for manning the Guide!}

We here at Lyndria recognize that there are a lot of story-lines to follow, which can be difficult at times. Therefore, we created a Roleplay Guide that will inform members of the Guild what's going on. Since all together in one thread seemed to be a big overwhelming in and of itself, I decided to separate the guide. This section is about the roleplays currently being enjoyed. They are active, exciting and fun.

~~~
RP Types
Extremely Casual - The name says it all. Basically, this is the lowest level of strictness an RP can possibly have. This Type indicates that you will probably never be required to post, as it is purely fun-oriented. You have permission to post out-of-turn and possibly disregard a few of the Guild's Rules, such as the forbidden use of asterisks.
Note: This Type of RP will only be allowed in the Casual RPer.
Casual - This Type indicates that the RP is purely casual. Without your post, there is a possibility of the other Characters getting stuck in the storyline, but it wouldn't be a major concern, so you are not necessarily obligated to keep track. The Rules of etiquette in this RP will be decided by the creator and will be clearly indicated.
Semi-Strict - This Type represents a moderate amount of strictness. Bordering on Casual, this particular Type of RP will encourage you to post in-turn, but will allow the storyline to pause temporarily if you fail to post, until too much time passes and they are forced to move on without you. Basically, you are encouraged post when it is your turn, but you will not receive angry PMs if you don't.
Moderately Strict - You are strongly encouraged to post often. If you fail to do so, the storyline will come to a complete halt, as posting out-of-turn is simply not an option. If too much time passes, the other RPers will move on with another side of the story if they can realistically do so, but if there is no hope of recovery without your post, the other members of the RP may decide to send a PM simply notifying you of your need to post.
Hardcore - This RP Type indicates that the creator of the RP has set a specific quota for how many posts will be expected from each RPer within a certain length of time (ex. once a week). If you fail to meet this quota without reason or prior notice, you will be asked to leave the RP.
Hook:
There is a bulletin posted on any smooth surface every ten feet. It speaks of the past: the destruction that happened five years earlier. It tells you what you already know: that Opalescent is overrun with thieves and crooks. If you look to either side of you, you’ll find one, probably two. It practically begs you to stand up finally and join the Queen’s Army, in order to get free of poverty’s tight grasp.
Plot:
As the rain came down hard upon Opalescent City, Avin flicked a coin at a beggar, cringing at the disgust throughout the streets. He paused a moment to read over the bulletin for Enlistment into the Queen’s Army. Repulsion filled him again; he’d dropped from a hero to a “miscreant.”
Inside the nearest bar, Tor took a deep quaff from his flask. The fiery liquid led a fremitus throughout his empty mind and body. As he left the shelter of the tavern, he caught a glint of Avin’s coin tossed carelessly to a beggar. Seeing the opportunity, he rushed to the other’s side, opening up his wares for sale: cold, stuttering and desperate.
Avin pushed past the apparently drunken man, unwilling to have his coin go to drink or drugs. Though a few more desperate attempts ensued, Avin pushed the older man to the ground, demanding he clean up before pestering him further.
Peculiar sparks flew as Tor landed, but still he followed his target. A raccoon-like creature ((Sinku, please tell me what species/race your character is)) approached him, commenting how foolish it was to blatantly follow someone already angry at him. Tor, quick to accept the creature as an hallucination, declared himself incapable of stealth. Sinku showed off his magic, as the two converse allowing Tor to keep his mind focused on Avin, promulgated to know all the elements.
Around the corner, Avin was fighting with himself. The streetlight brought a flame to his fingertips, but he extinguished it quickly. Pulling out a knife he hid it in his sleeve in preparation. Having seen him look over the paper, a young girl, Leona, approached him questioning jocularly if he planned to join the Queen’s Army. The small girl was a thief, but her curiosity kept her from immediately searching his pockets. Looking at her vagabond appearance, Avin offered her to dinner. At that moment, Tor reached the first man, starting his spiel once more. Attempting manners in his stuttering state, the older man tried to convince the man of his sobriety for coins. Leona used his distraction to pluck three coins off of the man. Vehemently, Avin denied his claims, riposting of his smell and appearance. Anger and hunger fought within Tor, he seethed for Avin to stop judging him, claiming to be able to disprove each allegation if only given the chance. He lunged forward to attack the younger man, but Sinku stepped between them, reminding the man of his weakened condition.
Avin spat at him, but after another look at the man’s face, he reached into his pocket, giving him a coin before leaving quickly. Tor was still angry, but he thanked the raccoon, and apologized to the girl. Sinku claimed it wasn’t a problem. Tor headed for an inn, while Sinku left him, growing wings and shooting off, a sonic boom in his wake, with the promise to help him again if he got in trouble.
Leona followed the odd man, still hoping to get that dinner he promised. She had many mouths to feed, but she hadn’t eaten in over a week. Soon she would loose the energy her elvish side had given her.
Somehow, up ahead, Avin, hiding in the shadows of an alley, split into two. One half, Kraid, wanted to hurt Tor for his pestering. Miles firmly reminded him of an unknown promise, which Kraid grudgingly admitted he knew.
Leona caught up with Avin, seeing only the one of them, and in her opinion, finagled her way into a meal. The two of them entered a cafe, and shared pasts until Sinku came in. Letting her curiosity get the best of her, Leo stares at the hooded figure, until he prompts. She pretends to have a tough demeanor, which shatters when he reveals his raccoon like form. Quickly afterward, she flees, going to the back to get her food. Avin sits beside Sinku, bantering with him, until the two share blows; much to Leona's horror. She flees while the two end up unscathed, with Avin leaving the bar. The young girl flees to her friends, to drop off money provided to her from Avin, then returns, deciding to hide and see where Avin spends the night. She has no intention of willingly going with him. Once again in an alley, Avin splits and reprimands Kraid, who found the entire scene amusing.
Leona hid where she’d be least expected; just across the street. High up on the building her pointed ears could catch the sounds of two voices in the alley outside of the street. Having seen Avin enter, she knew one was him, but the other? She watched him leave, waiting until he was out of sight before climbing down from the building. He searched for Leona, while the young girl attempted to find Sinku, to insure he wasn’t harmed. After a few hours, Avin returned to the tavern, angry at losing a possible companion. Giving up, he headed to the gates, to start on his way again.
She found the raccoon creature quickly, telling him solemnly to be more careful. Still cocky, Sinku told her what happened, changing her opinion of Avin once more. After offering SInku to join them, the young girl darted off to the restaurant. She hurried inside, amazed at the large scorch marks left over from the fight. Though she scanned the crowd, she knew she wouldn’t find him. Going to the outside step, she sat down, cold and shivering, hating that she lost the opportunity.
Sinku offers to let her travel with him, just before Avin catches the sight of the two of them. He separated, at Kraid's advice and came to talk to them, wary of Sinku. He told them Avin was headed to the east gate, then left hurrying to get there before the two of them. Suspicious, Sinku teleports to Miles, confronting him of his similar scent to Avin.
Leona decided to take Mile's advice, and Sinku followed her to the gate. Reaching it, she saw Avin just about to leave at which point she called his name, worried he wouldn't respond. None the less he did, and the three of them exited.
After deciding to head to the desert, Leona realized Avin's injury. Attempting to heal it the physical way, it was only after she hurt him that Sinku stepped up and healed it magically much to her annoyance. They continued on their way, heading towards a forest. Sinku commented on Leona's safety to be insured with his handy dandy dragon. Thinking the poor creature was trapped, the girl lunged to free it, letting it almost fall to the ground.
Doren was in another bar, playing with his pet rat. Across the room, another watched his companion, his stomach aching for the possible food. Seeing her hunger, he had his rat, Umiko, take a large piece of meat to the Naga, as a greeting. Though fearful, the rat obeyed. Slightly confused, Eren ate the offering, then thanked the man. Asking if he were cold, he drew out a piece of chalk, to draw a warmth spell. Declining the offer, Doren wondered how others viewed him, and was grateful for the dignity of Eren. It was in short supply lately. The Naga drew the spell for himself, his reptilian nature unable to fight the cold. He believed he was in debt to the man, and planned to repay that debt before he ate his rat. Doren questioned his purpose here.
Later Doren excused himself and Umiko, going back out into the rain. He was simply pleased that his darling pet was comfortable. At the moment, not much else mattered.
At the entrance to the tavern a young boy was calling people to come in from the rain, entrancing them with his stories. Remy, caught sight of Doren and his rat, calling him over for a tale of the mouse and the lion.
