Welcome to the World. A long time ago Magic thrived. So much so that it was an everyday part of life. People and the creatures born of magic mingled, sometimes in good ways, sometimes in bad.

During the good times and interactions, people could see just how well and beneficial it could be to continue working and co-existing together. During the bad however, only the worst parts of all would come to light.

The age of magic was as bright as any star in the sky, that is until the GODs had become board. People were to content, too into their daily rituals and lives to really stir any form of entertainment as they had once been. They had created a paradise, their own Golden Age. And like all Golden Ages, this too was destined to collapse and be washed away by the effects of time.

The Gods began placing Ideas into the minds of many creatures and races. Thoughts of building, making and crafting. Plans were being thought of soon giving doubts to the basis of magic and it's principles. After enough time the balance began to shift, much to the Delight of the GODs that had started it.

Like children though the GODs had begun to see patterns in these new thoughts and ideas of the populace. Their once treasured followers were turning to beliefs of science and technology and forgetting them, forgetting the old ways. This would not stand, but before it could be stopped, the damage had been done. Anarchy burned and became fueled by everything. Creatures began to doubt themselves for their magic abilities, humans and others shunned each other in futile wars of who was better then who. The GODs had lost any control they had gained.

Realizing their mistake they came to a difficult decision. They had to divide the world they had worked so hard to create and grow. Each took to a different dimensions, believing that only their ways had survived the carnage it had created. A world of Science and Technology, another of Magic and Mysticism. Both believing the other way of life had been erased.

Each realm grew under the watchful eyes of the GODs. Some taking form to the realms and mingling just to feel the lives they had created over. In the world of Technology people became the dominant. Science and ingenuity played into their makings and genetics. Cybernetics and machines and bio-technical advances were made taking over their Planet that was and re-naming it as New Mecha. The world of magic did not stray too far off from a similar path. Magic flourished touching nearly everything. Plants and animals seemed as if more alive then ever before. Creatures began their reign as did the races of people. Angelics, Demonics, Elvish, even humans had found ways of using the crafts of magic. Soon floating cities and royal lineages came o rain transforming their world into a new re-birth, the world of Asteria.

Each so far into themselves that they had not noticed at first. Soon the GODs for all their toils to each dimension began to be at war wit each other. Each taking a side until their war transpired into the dimensions. The dimensions began to shift and form, mashing within each other as if it had never been separated. The populace was in a panic. Each thinking the other as an invader to do harm for the carnage that the dimensional merge had done. What was once two different groups, were now one. And neither knew how to deal with the changes. As the GODs war raged on, so did the one of the planet for the balance. Each wanting their own to survive and for the other to fail.

Eventually the GODs ended their war, coming to terms with each other only to see the damage they had caused. They assessed the damage that had been done seeing no real way to end it. They couldn't separate the dimensions again for too much of both had been lost or merged with the other. They decided to set out the Fates, their Muses into both sides of battle to try and ease them out. To their dismay, each was failing. The decided in the end that it would have to be up to the inhabitants to clear the air and restore some form of a balance.

And thus our story begins....

And now for the rules!

Please PM me a character list of the following information to play.

PM Subject: RPG Thread

Character name:
Character side: (Magic or Technical)
Character gifts: (Based on what side you chose.)
Character Race: (Based on what side you chose.)
Character Appearance:
Character Background:
Character Personality:

Please send a PM and wait for the go ahead before posting or it will be requested for deletion.

Also please be respectful to other players.

Rules:

Stay in character! Little to no out of character chatter.
Stay active. If you're not here at least once every 1-2 weeks you're character will find it's death in the story. We want active people!

This is a Literate RPG! I do not want people posting like they've never posted before, (unless that is the case in which I will work with you to develop writing skills as we go)!

Other then that have fun and lets see where the story takes us.

~For those that may have trouble with the above of gifts and race choices.

*Think of what side you wish to play first. The one of magic? Or the one of Technology?

*Each group will have it's own set of races. Anyone familiar with mythology, or has a love of science fiction can gander a guess at races for each side. For those of us that may be a lil iffy on what's what, here's some help:
*Technical side: Cyborgs, alien races, robots, humans, hybrids, computers, Science creations, certain animals.. etc...
*Magical side: Centaurs, humans, unicorns, sirens, witches, warlocks, sorcerers, faes, elves, taurens, fauns... mermaids.. etc.

those just to set up a few ideas and maybe stir some new ones.

Now as far as their gifts go. First it helps to define what side and race the character will be. This will help lower the possibilities immensely to help with this. Most races in literature have a special quality that is different from others, sets them apart from the norm, or simply distinguishes what they are more prominently.

*Mages (magic users, i.e. Witches, warlocks, sorcerers, wizards) All tend to conjure spells or read from a book or incantation, or has magic gems and whatnot. Some have natural magic but a number of them use the magic readily available around them.
*Elves, Faes (Fairies), mermaids, dragons, unicorns, etc. Tend to have natural magic, most for either healing or belonging to an element. Elemental gifts tend to follow the main 4 or 6 depending on your beliefs and such for them. The basic 4, Earth; air; water; fire- the secondary 2 being light; and dark.
*Robots: What can I say, their potentially a sneaky bunch. Not quite a person yet not completely a human. Think along the lines of a computer, or weaponry. (anyone say c-3po?)
* Aliens can follow along the lines of magic in a way, something special still to their race, and though it may seem like magic, it isn't. Think a different force all together.
* Hybrids are essentially gifted with something from either of it's sides. Be it alien/ human, human / animal, animal /alien.. or part computer.. etc..

Good luck in your choices, remember this is only a guide not a definite must do thingy. If you still are having trouble, simply PM me and I'll help work something out based on how you want your character to play or come across.

Current players:

Magic side:

Jin the Shadow Wolf

Character name: Halek-Jeun "Fei-Tao" Moshuu
Character side: Magic
Character gifts: Halek-Jeun has a deep passion for magic, which had developed from the time he was growing up. For almost every day he was awake, he had been studying book after book of spells and such.
Character Race: Wolf Demon
Character Appearance: Halek-Jeun is 5' 6", with a scrawny build. He has dark tanned skin, short messy black hair, and dark red eyes. He has numerous scars across his body, the most noticeable being two that span diagonally down across his face, one crossing over his right eye. Among the scars on his body is a dark mark that looks like a wolf on his left shoulder. If not for his black wolf ears, tail, and large fangs, he would've looked like a human.

He's usually seen wearing dark colors. His most commonly used piece is a tattered black scarf around his neck; he wears it as a tribute to his missing parents.
Character Background: Halek-Jeun was born into a typical wolf pack, which consisted of his parents and older siblings. He had been the second-youngest of six, as well as the "runt" of the group, although in his family's language, his name meant "great guardian." Naturally, he wanted to live up to his name which he had shared with one of his ancestors, and despite being the smallest male, he had accomplished this. He excelled in defensive combat, as well as defensive magic.

Growing up, he had acquired his parents' fascination with magic, which drove him to further his studies. However, the raging wars had scattered his family over the years; he never heard a word from his parents again. His siblings still remained, though he and them were all mostly separated, save for his younger sister, Mika-Chuin. It had been almost ten years since their family had been dispersed, and the two had ended up in the largest of the many floating cities.

Character Personality: Halek-Jeun is generally calm and cheerful. He hates seeing people in a negative mood, so naturally he tries to cheer them up, or at least make them smile. Despite being caring and positive, he is the kind who will fiercely defend his beliefs, as well as those he trusts and cares about. He does tend to keep to himself at times though.

Lorelei_Ediemeious

Character name: Inola Moranzi

During the wars they had been called to battle leaving her older siblings to care for her until the day they too were called. She grew up in the boarder lands between the techie and magical side of the wars. Since her family had been take for war she began traveling about the magical side knowing bits and pieces, and wanting to know more of how the wars came to be, and how they could have gone on for so long.
Character Personality: Tends to keep to herself, others think her unsociable but that is to most strangers. She finds happiness in things and those around her, and watches people and creatures to see their habits as her father taught her to. She doesn't tend to strike until she feels a need to, or she's trying a new spell that hasn't gone completely as it should have.

Character Background: Rayna is a teen of a borderland village. She grew up in the care of her three Aunts who were known as the oracles for her village. Though it's along the boarder, they had not seen much of the war being hidden well by the surrounding woods and trees that make up their home.
Character Personality: Generally fun loving she has a temper as any teen her age. She has a soft spot for those that seem to need shelter and often will bring home 'pets' and hide them so her aunts won't notice.

oO Lorelei Oo

Character name: Ekali.
Character side: Magic
Character gifts: Knowledge, Telepathy, Self created magic, (draconian spells)
Character Race: Evolved (hidden)
Character Appearance: Ekali is older in appearance though can change to whatever age he prefers at the time. He tends to dress like a gentleman of England, without the bowler hat. And not that it is noticed but on all outfits are two thin lines where the shirts are open. He tends to have short, neatly combed back white/ gray hair, and a vibrant purple eyes, the pupils of which are elongated in a pointed oval from top to bottom. And on rare occasions will blink his second eyelids which close horizontally instead of vertically like his outer eyelids.
Character Background: Ekali is old. Older then any other then those of his own hidden kind. He was somewhat old when the wars had begun but has also become quite adept at changing so others will not notice how long he has actually been around. He like all his kind and other magical creatures such as unicorns and phoenixes, creates his own magic. His spells are harder for most middle and expert mages to break because it is natural and not conjured. Though he rarely uses his magic unless it is needed.
Character Personality: Being as old as he is, he can be straight and to the point or soft and mellow depending on the need. He dislikes brainless soldiers on either side of the war and has a few too many connections then he should everywhere. Roro tashimaru

No longer playing
Character name:Sayori (Yori)
Character side: Magic
Character gifts: Electrical and healing
Character Race: Elven
Character Appearance: User Image - Blocked by "Display Image" Settings. Click to show.
Character Background: Her family has helped warriors and fighters in wars past and now she has set out on her own to help. But bad luck has fallen on her and her path, she can't remember a thing of her powers or her past.
Character Personality: Shy, protective, and bubbly, can be short fused

Tomei of the Wolves
Character name: Mika-Chuin Moshuu

Character side: Magic

Character gifts: Unlike her brother Halek-Jeun, she doesn't use magic. Rather, she takes advantage of her heritage and utilizes her true form as a wolf demon to defend herself and others. Although she has no magic, she has a deep emotional connection with nature, allowing some of her senses to reach as far as the forests stretch across the land. However, depending on the distance, this feat would drain her energy.

Character Race: Wolf demon

Character Appearance: Mika is not quite as dark in complexion as her brother is. She stands at 4' 5 with a slender frame, her left shoulder also having the same wolf-like mark her brother has.

She usually wears a dark brown collar, an over-sized sweater, form-fitting black short pants, and sandals.

Character Background: Mika-Chuin is the youngest sister of Halek-Jeun, separated in age by 5 years. Her name in their language means "Silent Lightning", characteristic of how she can strike viciously without warning or alerting anyone. Her ability to connect with her surroundings allowed her to warn her family of the impending danger when she was only 8 years old, the same attack that separated her and Halek-Jeun from their other siblings. For ten years, she and her brother had been in the floating city of Urgalis, where together, they opened and ran the Tyubak Inn, a refuge for travelers.

Character Personality: Mika-Chuin is usually silent, calm, and collected, not talking unless she feels she has to and mostly seen with a soft, shy smile. Her voice is very quiet and soft though, making it almost always difficult to hear what she says. Most would see her as almost completely emotionless and innocent, but Halek-Jeun knows how compassionate she is, as well as how she thinks. She can be very calculating when she runs into problems, and highly values freedom over oppression. Anything pertaining to imprisonment would set her off.

Technical side:

HrtBrkr
Character name: S'rasha

Character side: Technical
Character gifts: Animal instincts, light footed, speech
Character Race: Bio-mechanical panther
Character Appearance: While looking like a completely biological animal, S'rasha is only given away by the slight sounds of grinding metal parts, mysterious whirs and the occasional tick. He has a black coat of fur adapted from his coal covered homelands and a pair of glowing red mechanical eyes.

Character Background: Once a simple animal of the wilds, S'rasha was captured and experimented on until he became the mechanical marvel he is now. The experimentation had the effect of granting human-like sentience and intelligence. For most of his new life S'rasha was a simple war machine, but he has had enough and flees towards the border of this 'new world.'

Character Personality: Naturally curious but overly cautious and cold due to his transformation. S'rasha has little to say with his new gift of speech, but when he does, he will not hold anything back. Most importantly S'rasha has grown tired of his magic killing life and seeks more out of life.

Darth Nutrino
Character name: Diz

Character side: Technical
Character gifts: Cybernetically enhanced limbs, eyes and certain internal organs.
Character Race: Human
Character Appearance: Diz is a six foot tall, medium length spiky black hair, icy dark blue eyes and a distinctive tribal tattoo that covers his right arm. He is usually seen wearing maroon and black colors, on some occasions the maroon has been known to be blue. The maroon/blue headband covering his forehead is always present unless swapping between the two colours as is the shawl he wears over the dark black clothing underneath.

Character Background: Diz Has always been a loner ever since he was a child. He had been often asked by teachers why he didn't play with the other children and was always on his own and Diz had merely replied with silence every time. It was never hard for Diz to disguise himself as a happy individual after all he did look like any other normal child. It wasn't a problem until his parents had gone and got into trouble that he was forced to the Military Boarding School, where he has spent most of his life, as they didn't want him caught up in whatever it was they had gotten themselves into.

Once he had finally finished school all he really knew was how to be a soldier and how to fight, for him these two things would undoubtedly save his life in the next year. As far as he knew there had been an invasion from another world a war had raged for what seemed like forever, he had managed to avoid the fighting and flames of war through constant traveling and moving, this would lead to his eventual cybernetic upgrades.

After a year of traveling avoiding the many conflicts that now infested the world he had managed to get himself caught up in small town that had come under siege during the early hours of the morning. He had managed to save many innocent civilians before the town was hit by a cataclysmic blast which took down the building he was moving through, as well as many others, and he was crushed under a large amount of rubble and debris. After the battle had ended he had been found by a military medic who had seen him during the battle aiding the civilians to safety. By the medics order he was instantly rescued and put into surgery to replace and enhance the broken lost and shattered body parts. Since that day he has served the military as part of an elite search and rescue squad.

Character Personality: Diz is generally good natured and tries to help others when he can, but he also has a darkside which tends to show at various times without warning. While he is in his better mood he is quiet and can be very insightful as well as a good listener and problem solver. When he is in his darker mood he can be very twisted and sadistic allowing people to suffer tremendously before he would 'help' them.

Story Updates:

Update: 10/14/2010

Starting up the story between a few characters. Halek-Jeun has met Inola and offered her a room at an Inn during her stay in the floating magic city of Urgalis.

Sayori survived a crash at sea and has met an unlikely Tech side person named Diz. Though she is elven, Diz seems to want to help her even though they are from different sides of the world. Diz is also learning quickly how things can change on the magic side.

S'rasha has seemed to escape the tech side and made an unlikely friend. A girl he didn't feel like killing at the time from the magic side. Has been traveling about here and there, off and on with the girl, Rayna. Rayna is finding herself in an odd spot with the defenses her home had being whisked away to the war making it a soon to be dead zone. She sticks around S'rasha hoping some idea of what to do now will come to her.

(so far that's all we got for a brief overview...) heart

The story will be updated roughly every couple of pages so that if it so happens we get new people in the middle, they'll have an idea of what has been past.

It had been quite a while since the war began. It was still a mystery to Halek-Jeun about how it all started. The same war that had separated his family had also landed him and Mika-Chuin in Urgalis, the largest city in Asteria. It was almost like a dream, remembering all the running, the explosions, even the death of those unlucky enough to escape. It couldn't be helped though, but he still had to keep his head up. If he let himself be dragged down, his sister would be more upset than him, and he never wanted that to happen to her. She and the rest of his siblings were what kept him going on through the days going by.

Halek-Jeun sat up from the bed he had slept on, yawning loudly. The sunlight welcomed him back to consciousness with its bright light illuminating the room from the window. Mika-Chuin still slept peacefully in the bed across from his. He cast a smile at the now 17-year old wolf demon as he got out of his bed, feeling the hard wood floor beneath his bare feet. It was the beginning of another monotonous day.

*She jumped off the dock from the ferry and looked around the island. Once everyone had gotten off she would watch as the large Sea style ship took flight with the large fae like wings protruding it's side. She always did find them fascinating in the stories her father used to tell her. So rarely did they even make it to the boarderlands that she decided to take the opportunity when it arose. She turned back to view the city around her and began wondering just how big this floating island was. She could feel the slight movement in the ground once again reminding her how unaccustomed she was to anything other then the solid ground she knew as home. She slung her pack over her shoulder and started towards the buildings just off the pier. Something about barely seeing the actual ground below would unnerve any not born to the islands. She took in the scent of a bakery and other foods as she entered into the city, but would soon enter the store she had really been looking for. As far as she cared food could wait. She looked about it's dusky shelves an melted candles for something she thought would be handy in her trips. She smiled seeing a stack of old scrolls and began rummaging through them.*

Can I be of some assistance young miss? Those scrolls can be troublesome.

*She turned from the scroll in her hand and shook her head politely.* No thank you, My father taught me how to handle them. But thank you all the same. Would you perhaps have a map of Asteria? Mine got burned on the way here. *She would watch the storekeeper nod and begin a search for her request. As he did she went to work looking through the scrolls finding one or two she liked and set them aside. She was partially through looking over book tittles when the storekeeper returned with the map she had requested. She gave another polite nod and gathered the two scrolls, a book, and four candles to the checkout counter.*

Will that be all young miss?

*She smiled and paid the man but wouldn't talk any further. She was content enough on the things she had found to ponder where else to shop. She began walking about the streets seeing the lively people and angels above. Everyone was bustling about in daily routines as if the wars never existed here. She sighed and continued knowing if she were to stay for a few days she would need to find an inn. She soon found more then she cared for and hoped to find something that felt better. Considering the first one she was in seemed to dislike anyone other then the angelic races. She thought it funny some places would still show their differences with the wars claiming that all worked together to fight a common enemy.*

Halek-Jeun wasted no time getting himself cleaned up and dressed for the day ahead of him. Having come from the actual ground below the floating cities, most of the citizens would be glad he didn't stay an uncivilized barbarian, as they would see a wild demon to be. Truthfully, he hated to stand out when there was still so much hostility coming from the angelics and humans, so he tried to blend in as best as he could. Aside from keeping the cowl of his favorite cloak down, leaving the black wolf ears in plain sight; the pride of his heritage was part of what made him keep going after his parents disappeared and the rest of his family dispersed.

Regardless, he wasn't used to idling over his past. If he could make it through every day alive as he was now, nothing would hold him back. Today was one of the days he wanted to spend time researching on his magic, as well as practice his control over new elements. Once he pulled his boots on, he strode over to the side of Mika-Chuin's bed and lightly tapped her forehead. "I'll be off now, okay?" he said to her. "I'll see you later. Be good now, sis." Turning away from her and facing the window, he stepped onto the windowsill and hopped out. The second story window wasn't all too high for him. What worried him more was if he accidentally landed on someone.

*Inola continued on one inn after another. She hated that the codes of old were still thriving here in the city. She may as well have been a demon the way people treated firewitches. She sighed walking about and resting along the wall of the most recent inn to try wondering if she should just head outside the city or to try it. She turned hearing people yelling about and what sounded like small explosions overhead. She ducked on instinct but soon relaxed seeing it was simply an air magic display and people raving about the latest news of war. She took a paper as people gathered and rushed the streets and read what it was saying. She read the news of one of their world's advances on some inner cities of the techie side and knew with each advance it would only be a short time before their own territories would be hit in retaliation. She shook her head crumpling the paper and tossing it aside. She felt something tickle in her hair and noticed some loose dirt, as well as the one who had caused it jumping from a window. She moved quick just barely stumbling out of the way as they would land before her. Inola viewed the cloaked figure before her and sighed.* You may want to watch where your landing before jumping. I may be used to things falling all about but I'm sure it's a good guess these people aren't. *She viewed the one before her a bit more closely noting the ears protruding from the hood and shrugged the thought away. Who was she to judge based on what another was? She had the same problems.* Hey by any chance are you staying at this inn? *She was curious, if the inn let someone stay that was other then true human she may have a chance.*

Oh, whoops. Halek-Jeun focused his magic to slow his fall and move back a little before landing at a more comforting distance from the girl. "My humble apologies, ma'am," he said as he turned to her, bowing lightly. "I've noted that's also why they tend to walk closer to the streets than along the buildings here," he chuckled lightly. But aside from that, the citizens were still just cautious around his kind; not just wolves though. His ears slightly stood as she asked about him staying at the inn. "Ah, yes. As a matter of fact, my sister and I actually own it. Are you looking for a place to stay, ma'am?"
PostPosted: Mon Oct 11, 2010 1:50 pm

*She looked to him a bit then nodded to his questions.* Yes, I've been looking for a place since this morning but most turned me down. *She wondered if he already guessed why or if she looked enough like a normal human. Either way she looked about seeing the people still parading themselves about the streets.* So much different then the boarder colonies... *She turned back looking to him and waited, almost expecting him to say she couldn't stay here either.*

Retreating into the nearby woods, S'rasha looked back at the smoke belching city, licking the blood off his mouth. He took a few steps deeper into the treeline then looked back again. "No one will find them until morning. Creator or not, I will no longer be ordered to kill." S'rasha then began to run. Not from anyone or to anyplace. The oil in his mechanical parts flowing efficiently and the blood straining to keep up. S'rasha missed the feel of the wind in his face. Mostly he missed the feeling of anything. Nothing brought pleasure like killing, unfortunately it brought shame as well. Finally S'rasha stopped running. Even if his body didn't need it, his mind sure needed sleep. These were his woods. The ones he killed those magic users in so often. Knowing nothing would bother him in his own hunting grounds, S'rasha found shelter in a dug up tree and drifted to sleep.

Diz looked at the general in disbelief of what he had just heard. "We are a search and rescue squad, not mercinaries!" He argued with a disgusted look across his face at what they were trying to order his squad to do. He took a minute to calm himself down as the general paced about the large office. "What I'm trying to say sir is, we don't handle those types of missions. Ambushing a convoy of enemy troops is something that you should be ordering your..." The general cut him off waving his arm in the air.

"Fine then, if you won't do that I do have another mission that requires a highly skilled team like yours." The General said moving to the large oaken desk and pulling out a classified file then handed it over to Diz. "This unit went missing a few hours ago, the tracking device showed it to be heading for the boarder before it suddenly shutdown. Now we have no idea where it is."

"So you want us to bring it back?" Diz asked almost sarcastically and the general seemed to let it slid and merely nodded at him. "What if it resists?" The general gave Diz a look that he knew all too well. "Understood sir. We will leave as soon as we are ready." With that Diz put the file back on the desk and left the office. Outside the office he wandered slowly down the long hallway unhappy about the look he had recieved after asking about any resistance. He made his way to the barracks where his squad stayed while they were on the base.

Rayna ran through the woods in the dark. Her aunts tended to do their rituals of the full moon, which would leave her plenty of time to explore. She came closer and closer each time to the Techy side, growing curious as to what the war was about. She began hearing faint sounds at first, but when she got closer could almost hear what sounded like explosions. She ran towards it a moment only to stop in a small clearing to see another creature, that looked like a panther in the darkness. She looked to it unsure, though there were animals of the magic side, they were often still something to be cautious around. She looked about a moment being quiet unsure she wanted to disturb the creature or not.

S'rasha was surprised, almost startled that anything would approach him. Keeping his eyes closed, he smelled the newcomers scent. "Hmm...female and...magic..." S'rasha thought and became that much more interested. "Maybe a meal too." He let out a small purr accidentally in excitment. Although he'd hunted them since the war started, he could never be too sure of what kind of threat a magic user was. Better to wait and see what they did.

She would look to the panther for a bit of time. Though she could hear a soft purr she didn't move. She looked towards the sounds of explosions again hearing them dulling even from where she was. She wanted to know what it was all about though wasn't sure she should move with a panther nearby. She bit her lower lip unsure if this was the typical plain kind or one like magic. As she pondered the idea she looked to her feet knowing even in her slim sandals she may not be able to outrun it if it decided on a chase or worse. She looked back to it getting up her nerve and speaking softly. "Are you by any chance a talking panther? Or should I be running right about now?" Her last comment half to herself rather then the panther before her.
