I really do not see what the issue is. Of course they may depict this fictional character in that way which serves them best.
I think that Jesus of Nazareth really was a historical invention and not a real person. Like a compilation of various people around that time plus a pile of supernatural attributes from contemporary sun gods.
There are no real accounts of his existence--- the people who write about him did not know him personally. It's like claiming I know about the life of so and so, but it is what I have been told. Hearsay. Others, such as "Josephus, a methodical, accurate and dedicated historian of the time mentions John the Baptist, Herod, Pilate and many aspects of Jewish life but does not mention Jesus."(crabtree).
The gospels themselves are never written as first person narrative. The birth of Jesus was most likely a compilation of pagan myths.
