In her youth, Meets-the-Sea was a very solitary Kimeti, spending most of her time wandering back and forth from the swamp to the ocean and immersing herself in nature. She was an anxious creature, prone to overthinking and overanalyzation and at times almost paralyzed by the fear that would come upon her like a tidal wave. As she grew older, she learned to control her fears through both experience and through training herself to be minutely aware of every aspect of her body and how it is affecting her.

This change was partly spurred on by the experiences Meets has shared with her lifemate, Walks Without Rhythm. From him, she learned an economy of words and movement that has changed her way of life for the better. Living with her (not very talkative) mate has also allowed Meets to become adept at the art of reading others' body language to understand their deeper meanings.

Nowadays, Meets and Slide make their home in a cave in the borderlands, accompanied by Slide's two daughters Desert Spring and Many Voices and Meets and Slide's own clutch of children. Life in the borderlands has made Meets into a much stronger and more capable kimeti than she once was, capable not only of taking care of herself, but of defending herself also -- though she is still kind and caring at heart, Meets would do anything if it meant protecting her unusual little family and their way of life.

Havemercy is a good-hearted Kimeti and generally likes most of the other creatures she meets, but isn't always the best at expressing that -- her snarky comments and sarcastic attitude can come across as hostile to those who don't know her. Have also tends to get herself into trouble inadvertently because she likes to explore and go places and get into situations she knows she probably shouldn't. She usually manages to get out again none the worse for wear, however, and somehow maintains her snarkily optimistic attitude throughout.

Undecorated Desire doesn't mean to be rude or mean, but she is lost inside her own wants and needs and doesn't really see (or feel the need to see) the needs of anyone around her. Her self-centeredness makes her hard to get along with at times and she tends to push people away unintentionally by only thinking of herself. She is, thus, a bit immature emotionally, and perhaps needs someone to help her become less absorbed in herself and more interested in the cares and worries of others. Spends most of her time traipsing about the swamp in search of pretty things for her hoard of treasures, which she stores in her cave that is hidden under a waterfall and guarded by her lynx, Treasure Hoarder.

Due to the strange mushrooms her mother consumed before her breeding, Stumble was born with a birth defect that makes her legs weak and twisted, causing her pain and difficulty walking. Despite this, Stumble is a cheery and optimistic kimeti who always tries to look for the positive aspect of things and loves nothing more than her mother, Havemercy, and her clutchmate, Hollyhock, who was also born with a birth defect causing her to be blind. Stumble and Holly spend most of their time together, Stumble serving as Hollyhock's eyes and describing to her sister the things she cannot see, and Hollyhock helping Bowlegged get around.

Stray was born into a large clutch, and Stray knows he is not the most distinctive - especially not next to the twin sister who is so lovely; but Stray also knows that he is special, because he is never alone.

Stream and Stray are free-spirited twins: cheerfully afflicted with a terrible wanderlust, they wander the landscape, delighting in the varied sights they see; quite, quite normal - except they think that they are not two, but one.

They don't think of themselves as two different kimeti, but as one kimeti handily residing in two different forms (sometimes it is easier to reach a cluster of berries in the centre of a bush when you are smaller and slimmer and can reach a little farther; sometimes it is easier to push an inconvenient aside when you are just that bit stronger and sturdier). Doesn't everyone have more than one 'me' inside? Doesn't everyone argue with themselves sometimes? The only difference, after all, is that they do it out loud. They travel ceaselessly, living easily off the land and oohing-and-aahing over the wonders they see; they are not often seen, always on the move, always searching for those strange little places others aren't even sure exist, or would want to venture even if they knew they did, always traveling at whatever odd times they feel like for the day. When they go through areas they know they are likely to meet other kimeti, they tend to split up, knowing that when others see them together they are always addressed as two, and that annoys them beyond belief. Apart, they speak just as they do together, freely and melodically, believing their counterpart speaks with them also. When asked for their name, they introduce themselves homonymically - "My name is Leaves-the/to-Sea/See," the free-flowing trip of syllables eliding the barest difference. Often when those who have met them alone converse to each other after, confusion occurs:
"I met Leaves-t'-See today, and he said -"
"He? I met Leaves-t'-Sea today too, and she's a doe!"
"What?! No! He was definitely a buck!"
And so on. By the time someone figures out there were two of them, they have already moved on to their next destination. When they are together, their private names are Stray and Stream (perhaps a leftover from their early days with the clutch?), but they pronounce it so - Str'y, Str'm, the tail barely distinct (I imagine in kimeti terms that it would be a chirp cut short, one inflected upwards and the other downwards at the end). They trade fond jibes, they wonder, they laugh. When they run together, they run in tandem, side-by-side, that if you see them from a distance, you would blink and think one a shadow of the other. If one chances to properly meet them together and have them speak, they would speak as one - you would hear their voices perfectly harmonized, good-humoured and light and perhaps prone to lyrical hyperbole, but almost eerie in the exact duplication of each other's words. This happens so rarely, few have realized there are twins. They themselves have not yet realized.

Maelstrom is like a whirlwind. Kind one minute and raging the next. Calm and then frantic. His mood swings are unpredictable and severe. On occasion he gets so wild that he becomes out of control -- to the extent where he almost can't control his own body. His emotions fill him till there's nothing left. If that emotion is anger, or fear, or hatred, sometimes he can become physically violent -- biting, kicking, and scratching, flailing out of control.

Acorn Crop can seem, at times, both very young and very, very old. Her wisdom is countered by her frivolity. She is playful, but often in an almost sinister way; she seems to know more about death (specifically the where, when, & how of it) than she should. But death is not her only interest: this doe knows and understands the mysteries of fertility and childbirth and is a bit of a medicine-woman; if kimeti needed a midwife, that would be her role. She is respected for her knowledge of life and feared for her understanding of death.

Persimmon is kind of a haughty b***h. She is obsessed with her appearance and keeping herself neat and beautiful - especially her hair. She thinks her family is comprised of the most beautiful and intelligent kimeti in the swamp and that everyone else is inferior. She will occasionally play the naive little girl to strangers just to manipulate them into doing what she wants, and when they realize that she is not what they thought she takes great pleasure in laughing in their faces. Persimmon thinks everyone is below her and dislikes everyone except her family. They are also the only one she permits to call her by her nickname, Simper. (If anyone else dared to use that name with her, she might bite their head off.) Persimmon is basically the spoiled rich kid. Think Draco Malfoy.
