(This is a private roleplay starting between myself and Dragonscouts)
He tilted back his chair. He requested a chair for this very reason, as tilting back in a stool was less simple. Sure, he could do it, but he was here to relax, not to show off. Wearing a tan, narrow hat with a folded brim, a dark olive green overcoat, blackened leather boots and a wicked grin, along with the rapier at his belt, he chugged away at the beverage in his hand.
"Hoi! You break another one of my chairs you'd better build me a new one!" The barkeep was a girthy man, and not from muscle, though he definitely had some hidden on him somewhere. As seemed the norm with bartenders of the day, he constantly had a mug in one hand and a rag in the other, which he sometimes absently rubbed together for some strange reason. It never seemed to do anything, anyways.
"Hoi, yourself, John!" His voice didn't hold as much of the alcohol as many other tavern-dwellers did at this hour. "You know me. Have I ever let you down before?" This exchange was normal, and the other customers payed it no mind. Especially not the ones piled away in the darker corner of the room, where red eyes and evil whispers consumed the beings there.

The young girl hummed softly to herself as she served drinks and food to some of the patrons in the bar. She maneuvered easily around the various tables. Moving the tray to one hand so she could move strands of short black hair behind one ear, the other side held in place by her two red clips. She walked over to John, leaning on the bar table by the male with the hat, crossing her jean clad legs behind her. "John, I need two more mugs."
The girl had just recently started here so she didn't know the male that well. Shaking her head slightly at their exchange. She moved away once the drinks were on her tray, heading back towards the table in the back. The males at the table stopped talking once she came by. Still humming as she placed the mugs on the table and turned to walk away when one of the men grabbed her around the waist, forcing her to sit in his lap. She struggled a little, trying to get up. "Let go!" The male laughed at her futile attempts. "C'mon now, girly. Stay and play."

"Hoi." The man at the bar leaned back a bit to get the more burly customer's attention. "You should not be doing that in such a public place. You never know who might be watching." For effect, he turned around to face them, leaned in and started talking in a low voice with shifty eyes. "I hear there's an Enforcer who spends his free time here. If you don't wanna meet his bad side, I suggest you let the girl go." Feigning true apprehension at the potential risk, the man turned back to the counter and leaned up to the barkeep, whispering to him, "Lemme know if they let her go."

The girl continued to struggle in his lap, her tray laying forgotten on the ground by her feet. He was obviously much taller than her. Her feet barely touching the ground which made it even harder for her to get away. She stopped moving as she heard the male at the bar speak. The man behind her just laughing. "What I do is none of your business." The male simply guffawed at the others statements. She had resumed her struggling, trying to elbow the man when he shook her a little. "I ain't afraid of no Enforcer."
He shook the girl again as she kept trying to get out of his lap, finally slapping her across the face when she managed to dig an elbow into his gut. "Stupid wench!" A hiss escaped her though the slap didn't stop her from struggling. The males friends around the table were just laughing, enjoying the show. One of them finally getting up to help his friend, grabbing her by the wrists to stop her from elbowing him. "All we want is some fun, girly."

"Not afraid of an Enforcer?" He stood up, kicking his chair out of the way, his back to the men so they would not see him loosen his sword from his belt. "You should be." He drew the blade while making a complete spin, hitting the man's adam's apple with the flat of the blade, then flicking his wrist to do the same to the back of his neck. "I just cut your head off. Twice. And you didn't even have time to blink. Put the girl down." The thug was silenced, slowly setting the woman down before trying to grab the Enforcer's blade hand. In the blink of an eye, the Enforcer had spun across the man's back, putting the sharp side of his sword to the man's neck. "That was stupid. Did you know that there is no arrest for molesters? They are executed on the spot." Now the man was afraid. His friends all got up and ran. "I suggest you follow them. Don't try to pull a fast one on me." Now released, the thug too his advice this time and ran out of the bar after his crowd. The Enforcer turned, sitting back in his chair with a sigh. I blew my cover again. I'm really gonna hear it if I ever get back there.

Not even giving herself a second to breath once her feet touched the floor again, she ran behind the other male. Peeking behind him to see that whole party leave. Now she would hear it from John, they hadn't paid for their drinks yet. Letting out a soft sigh as she began to clean up the table, picking up her forgotten tray and setting the glasses on it. She brought them back to the bar, looking at the male and giving him a smile. "Thanks for your help, mister." She fiddled with her hair, glancing at the ground before looking back up at him. "What's an Enforcer?" Thankfully, John knew about her... problem and the question didn't surprise him. Though some of the other patrons looked at her like she had five heads.

The young woman surprised him with her question. He sat down, making himself comfortable before he replied. "An Enforcer, my dear girl, is someone who enforces the need for respect and caring with force and Power." The way he said Power gave it a faint emphasis, as if there were more to the word than it's meaning.
"Hey there, Daerik, don't scare the girl, now. She's a fine waitress. I wouldn't want to lose her." Daerik held his tongue, taking a long drink from his mug just before a long silence.
((Sorry, a bit of writer's block today.))

The young girl furrowed her brow as she listened to his explaination. "What kind of Power?" She used air quotes around the word. When John spoke she jumped, almost forgetting he had been there. A soft smile on her face from the compliment. "Thanks, John." She walked behind the table top, grabbing a bottle of water and taking a sip from it and sighing softly.
Light gray eyes roaming over the patrons, taking in all the tables and their drinks. A lot of people had left once they heard an Enforcer was around, most of them were parties at the back tables that had been shrouded in darkness. Thankfully no one needed refills at the moment so she could take the time to ask questions while drinking her water. "How does an Enforcer do those things?"

((Crap, dude, I'm sorry. I forgot about this one sweatdrop ))
Daerik chuckled lightly to himself, his lip curling up on the right side. Without looking up, he said, "Practice." He took another swig of his drought, before adding, "it makes perfect, doesn't it?" He stood up, flipping a coin which the bartender caught, and starting out the door.
"Hey, Dae, you leavin'?" Daerik nodded silently, and walked toward the door. Upon sudden inspiration, he tossed another coin at John, telling him to let the girl off for the day.
To the waitress, he added, "just stick with me. Don't want those thugs hittin' you up again." Daerik stepped outside, taking a deep breath of the dusty air, and taking a long look around town while he waited for the girl to join him outside. The houses were all cobblestone on the lower two feet, and wood the rest of the way up. The roads were all a lighter shade of dirt. Everyone got around on foot, since everything was so close together, and no one felt any need to procure transportation for themselves.

She tilted her head, noticing how he evaded her first question. Taking a quick sip and sighing softly as she saw a table wave her down. Grabbing her tray to clean up their table and take the money left on the table. She was humming softly again as she walked back behind the bar and placed the empty mugs in the sink. Her head jumped up as she heard Daerik tell John to let her off, looking to her boss then back to he male. Bowing her head a little at John when he gave his consent, hanging her half apron up.
She walked over to him, putting some hair behind her ear, grimacing slightly at the mention of the thugs. "Sure thing. See you tomorrow, John." Stuffing her hands in her pockets as she walked out of the bar and stood beside the male. "Why did you tell him to let me off? I don't really have much else to do besides work."

Daerik started to walk slowly toward the nearest edge of town. "Well, now you have something else to do. You seem a little clueless, and I know my way around things. I could easily catch you up with the world." He waited for her to respond before saying any more, thinking about how the council would react to his self-relocation if he moved on to the next town. He still had a few leads to follow, but now that his cover was blown in front of the very creatures he was tracking, he had little hope of enforcing anything on their cult.

The girl followed slowly after him, eyes looking around frantically. "A little clueless? I'm sure you mean a lot. I woke up a few days ago with no memory what so ever." A soft sigh escaped her, eyes going to the ground before lifting back up to take in her surroundings. Nothing seemed familiar. At first, it had been troubling but now, she just wanted to relearn everything. Thankfully, she hadn't forgotten ingrained memory like walking and such. That would've made life hell.

A couple of days ago? that would mean. . . Daerik's face remained clear, not revealing his sudden realization. Good thing I'm taking her in. I hope John doesn't mind. She can't stay there, if I'm right. "No memory at all? Well, then we should start with the basics. Do you know where the sun goes at night?" Daerik had to see how severe her memory loss was, just to make sure. It could be a simple amnesia, even if the time matched up perfectly. The two of them had just began to see the edge of town, which wasn't very big to begin with, but Daerik showed no signs of changing direction.

A soft sigh escaped the girl as she continued to follow after him, taking a lighter from her pocket. It had been the only thing found on her when she had been discovered. Like her arm, the lighter had a design of a rose and vines on either side of it. The lighter, for whatever reason, always seemed to calm her down when she got nervous. She quickly opened and closed it a few times, only stopping when Daerik asked his question. She looked at him like he was crazy. "It doesn't really go anywhere. The planet is moving the one moving." Thankfully she remembered mundane things like that. It was the more personal information she had lost and information pertaining to the way things were.
