Name: Valerie Vayler

Age: 17

Gender: Female

Hometown: Vayler Town (Copyrighted/made by Yoko). Just West of Goldenrod; named after Valerie's family who founded the town.

Starting Pokemon: Growlithe - Arcanine.

Pokemon team: Arcanine, Meganium, Furret, Pidgeot, Espeon, Ampharos.

Personality: Kind of private about herself but strong willed and incredibly determined; it really depends on who you are, so you might get the kind and helpful Valerie, or you might just as well get the sarcastic and sharp tongued version. Serious about taking care of her Pokemon and Vayler Town; hates Team Rocket.

Bio: Valerie has lived in Vayler town all her life; her great great grandfather was the founder of the town, and as he had travelled many places Valyer town has managed to incorporate parts of every region he went to. Because it's so close to goldenrod a lot of people spilled over into Valyer town and eventually it even got its own gym! A gym which Valerie was supposed to inherit; however, if Valerie inherited anything from her grandfather it was his inability to stay in one place for too long, so she's always off adventuring and is rarely even home to take challengers. Mostly it's because she doesn't feel she deserves to operate the gym and always wants to make sure her pokemon are strong enough to lead it.

VALERIE VAYLER

"So what brings you out to Goldenrod, Val?" Flinching at the nickname she'd never really approved, Valerie shrugged, taking a seat on the steps of the gym with the pink haired leader Whitney; since the two lived so close together and both were gym leader they'd gotten to know each other pretty well. Not well enough that Valerie accepted her getting a nickname, but that was beside the point.

"Nothing much; just resting the team until we head off to Olivine for our next battle." Most of the time Valerie wasn't even at her gym to accept challengers, but she'd been home for about three weeks and it was high time to go for her next gym badge. "How's your Miltank; still tough, right?" Which promptly sent Whitney into a string of babbles that Valerie managed to avoid just by nodding every once a while even though she wasn't really listening.

VALERIE VAYLER

Valerie had just been about to go into another round of "oh, I see's", when something more interesting happened. Or at least more interesting then nothing, anyway. "Excuse me ladies is one of you the leader of this fine establishment? I'm here to challenge the leader of this place." Whitney was up so fast Valerie almost gave herself whiplash, just from watching.

"Yup, I'm the gym leader, Whitney! Oh, but you can't challenge me yet; I still have to go to the radio tower and get that cool new app for the pokegear! Val, you're coming with me, right?"

"Well actually I have to get going and-"

"Yay! Val, c'mon!" Sighing, Valerie ran a hand over her face in exasperation; really, why did she even bother? "Ooh, Ooh! And then you have to come watch me battle, okay Val? I promise I got tons better since you beat me!" A lot of people would have said the way Valerie had gotten her gym didn't make sense; though she was officially recognized and had badges to give out, she didn't even have a full set on her own. Most people knew it was simply because she just didn't have time; she was more the strong enough to take the elite four, but running a gym doesn't leave a lot of freedom to go off and pursue things like that. "Vaaaallllll! Stop daydreaming and c'mon already!"

"Yeah yeah, I'm coming.."

VALERIE VAYLER

"Ooohh...! Val, look!" Somewhat irritated by Whitney's constant tugging at her sleeve, it was all Valerie could do not to smack the girl upside the head; she was a good enough friend but lord, she was annoying sometimes. "I've never seen that Pokemon before! Val, do you know what it is?" Blinking, Valerie shifted her weight from one foot to the other.

"...Salamance. It's a Salamance, Whitney. Hrm." Looking up at the massive dragon type pokemon, Valerie rolled her eyes and sighed; she'd met a lot of dragon trainers before, but unfortunately they'd all had egos twice as big as their strongest pokemon. And that was saying something. Besides, she'd beaten her share of dragon trainers; hardly anything impressed her these days. "Let's just go get your radio card thing alright, Whitney?"

"Mhm! Val, you're so smart! Have you ever actually seen a Salamance before?"

"Less talk, more walk Whitney. And you, dragon trainer?" Since she didn't know his name. "I'd get your Salamance off the streets; people gotta walk down here you know."

VALERIE VAYLER

Oh yeah, real smart; let's try to hyper beam a pair of gym leaders, in the middle of a civillian town. Well even if it had happened, Valerie's Arcanine would have gone for that Salamance's throat right away. Whee wasn't the trainer said the Salamance was friendly Valerie had to restrain herself from throwing her hands up into the air and walking away in the other direction; was his brain made of pudding?

"I never said she wasn't; but I do think you should get her off the streets. They're pretty narrow, and we wouldn't want any kids accidentally running out into the path of a Salamance, would we?" Bad image. Very bad image. "Anyway, Whitney, I'm gonna go ahead inside and talk with Buena; I heard her password today and I want a free pokeball."

"Oh, Val, wait for me!" Sighing, the pink haired trainer rolled her eyes. "Sorry about her; she's just not all that good with strangers is all. And she's seen a lot of dragon trainers so she probably just doesn't want anyone getting hurt. Hehe, you wouldn't think she's a gym leader, would you?"

VALERIE VAYLER

"Mhm; she runs the gym in Vayler Town; you go west from here and it's the next town over. As for the pokemon she uses, I can never really be sure since she always comes to visit with different ones; oh, but I do know for sure that she has an Arcanine!" Giggling, Whitney bounced into the radio tower's main lobby. "Good luck though; she's almost never at the gym so it's hard to even get a challenge out of her."

"Whitney, c'mere! The quiz is really easy, I promise!" Holding up a radio card, Valerie grinned. "Let me know if you need any help!"

"I won't need any help!" Whitney protested; rolling her eyes and smiing, Valeris shrugged, as if to say she didn't quite beleive that but she'd leave it alone for now. "Don't you have to go see Buena, anyways? Go on! By the time you get back I'll have already beaten the quiz!" And with that Whitney turned to the counter, muttering quietly to herself.

"Geez...that girl's hopeless." But she had a point about getting things done herself, so Valerie ruffled up her hair before heading up the stairs.
