I listen to.. a giant variety of things.

Amanda Palmer - Runs In The Family Her songs all ways have great emotion and I know how she feels, dude.
Sleep Party People - I'm Not Human At All Quite trippy, but so soothing.
Ke$ha - Cannibal IT'S MY GUILTY PLEASURE, OKAY? IT'S CATCHY.
Regina Spektor - Daniel Cowman Sudden change of pace. I love her work.. she writes such lovely lyrics.
Radiohead - Codex It's so hard choosing a song, as Radiohead is probably my favorite band, but this is my most loved track on their latest album. +u+

@moineau, YES TMBG! Particle Man has all my love forever.

Hello! +u+ I like music! I am fond of video game soundtracks, and I especially love my FAVORITE BAND, because they are my favorite, and because they are the best. The Protomen are a Nashville-based group that plays Mega Man rock opera, which takes the bare bones of the Mega Man storyline and characters, and flings them into a dark, dystopian future full of death, loss, sadness, and maybe- just maybe- hope. And also a lot of robots. It's better than it sounds (or just as amazing as it sounds, depending on your perspective.) Here are two of my favorite songs by them:

The Protomen - Unrest in the House of Light is from their first album, which had a rough-around-the-edges rock sound with Western overtones.
The Protomen - Light Up The Night is from Act II: The Father of Death, which was influenced by 1980's rock, particularly artists like Jim Steinman.

And here's some VGM! :I

Gitaroo Man - Soft Machine (official COIL music video), from my favorite rhythm/music based game. This is the Japanese opening track, but the English-language version, also performed by COIL, is great too.
Skies of Arcadia - Ice Dungeon is a beautiful and very chill (HEH) track from a very underappreciated RPG.
Final Fantasy: Crystal Chronicles - Leaving the Body Freely, one of my favorite tracks from this game! FF:CC had such a lovely soundtrack, so I'll probably post more from it eventually.

uhhh I'll leave it at that for now

tl;dr SONGS, I LIKE 'EM

Tally Hall & Pendulum ily. <33
I've never met anyone else who liked or even knew of Tally Hall. ; A;
PostPosted: Tue May 31, 2011 10:40 am
Glad you think so, Miza!

Bawwr, s'not a biggie, Ab. Only know about Tally Hall because of... what was it, a flash? some sort of music video for Banana Man. That and the one I posted are the only ones I've really heard :T;;

ANYHOW. Some of you already know that I like the Decemberists. I will restate it for the record - I KINDA FREAKIN' LOVE THE DECEMBERISTS. Especially some of the more vicious songs, for some reason. FOR EXAMPLE,

Culling of the Fold
Odalisque
The Rake's Song
The Mariner's Revenge Song

We will be remedying this right now ok
Tally Hall - Greener
Tally Hall - Good Day
Tally Hall - The Ruler of Everything
Tally Hall - Welcome to Tally Hall

More things I like that no one else does:
Freestylers - Cracks (Flux Pavilion Remix)

Opening theme for Umineko No Naku Koro Ni
Opening theme for Higurashi no Naku Koro Ni Terrifying, bloody, ******** of an anime, but I love it so much. > A>;;;;;

Robert Clunes - From The Rain His music is so incredible, but it's hard to find/hear anywhere outside of a chance encounter on last.FM or by buying the full album (which I'd totally do if I had the money). If you ever happen upon "Journeys Crossed," give it a listen! It's a really gorgeous piano piece. <3

DVAS - Giving It All Away Kinda retro-ish sound, a very good song imo. <3

Cinema Bizarre + Space Cowboy - I Came 2 Party

I have so much listening to do thanks to this thread. :'> Corn, I also love The Decemberists! I'm unfortunately not very familiar with their stuff outside of Her Majesty and Picaresque, though. :/ The Gymnast, High Above the Ground and The Mariner's Revenge Song are two of my favorites! I also really love As I Rise, for some reason. It is just really sweet and simple, and nice to sing, whistle, or hum on long walks in gorgeous weather.

The Decemberists - The Gymnast, High Above the Ground
The Decemberists - As I Rise

A Protomen thing, since I can never talk about music without pimping them out incessantly:

The Protomen - Breaking Out is one of the best songs to come out of Act II, in my opinion. This one in particular makes me think of Jim Steinman because of the multiple lyrical hooks. :V

Some Julia Nunes stuff!

Julia Nunes - Into The Sunshine and
Julia Nunes - Balloons are two of my favorites. She is so talented and I have such a crush on her. NO SHAME. ;_; But my favorite original song by her is probably...
Julia Nunes - Maybe I Will. The harmony just grabs me. In the heart.

Some vidya game tunes:

The Legend of Zelda: Majora's Mask - Clock Tower Theme. So many great songs from this game; this is one of the tracks that makes me the most nostalgic.
Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney - The Detective That Came From the Wild West (Jake Marshall's Theme) always makes me grin like an idiot. :I Jake Marshall is the s**t.
.Hack//INFECTION - dgn03 (Field Forest as a General Rule- Combat) has... a really long title. I think the music in this game is really underappreciated-- the transition of the music in the field when you enter/leave a combat situation is brilliant, IMO.
The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker - Dragon Roost Island Theme is my favorite theme from my favorite area in the game. Because Ritos are the best forever.

8D Hedj you should listen to more Decemberists, all of the Decemberists. Hazards of Love and The King is Dead, especially!

If we're gonna go video game music, I'll nostalgia at you with some Boktai.

Death Rattle
Solar Boy Django
Reincarnation
Punishment

Those games have pretty great stuff for GBA titles.
