King Allant the Twelfth, by channeling the power of souls, brought unprecedented prosperity to his northern Kingdom of Boletaria.

That is, until a deep, colorless fog swept across the land.

Boletaria was cut off from the outside world.
And those who dared to penetrate the Deep Fog never returned.

But Vallarfax of the Royal Twin Fangs broke free of the Fog, and told the world of Boletaria's plight.
That the King Allant had aroused the Old One, the Great Beast below the Nexus, from its eternal slumber.
And that a Colorless Fog had swept in, unleashing terrible Demons.

The Demons hunt down Men, and claim their souls.

Those who lose their souls, also lose their minds.

The mad attack the sane, and Chaos reigns.

Vallarfax spoke of the enticing power of the Demon souls.
Each time a Demon claims a human soul, the Demon's own soul is Invigorated by the lifeforce.
And the power of a Mature Demon is beyond human imagination.

The Legend spread quickly...

Mighty warriors were drawn to this accursed land.

But none have returned.

The Colorless Deep Fog slowly creeps beyond Boletaria's borders,
Humankind faces a slow and steady extinction.
The Deep Fog will eventually swallow all lands, far and near.

But Boletaria has one final hope.
Warriors who have braved the baneful Fog.

Has the land found their saviors, or have the Demons found new slaves..?

Noted enemies

• Enemies will only appear here once they show up.

Dreglings: The lowest enemy on the Danger Scale. While they can be fast, they are both clumsy and predictable. They usually have little to no intelligence to them past animal instinct to attack anything with their Souls intact.

Vanguard: A Demon of insatiable hunger and nightmarish strength. While more Brutish than other Demons due to the fact he relies on power over guile, he is still a force not to be reckoned with, as countless lives have fallen to its attacks.

Character Profiles

♦Username: Zahzi.
♦Name: Omazige. (No Last Name recorded)
♦Age: 34.
♦Class: (Ex)-Temple Knight.
♦Appearance: Omazige.
♦Equipment: Massive-Plate armor, a Claymore, and a Talisman of God.
♦History: Originally a devote follower of Mirda, he was the spearhead in many massacres against the magic-wielding population of the world. It was not until one planned village raid, which was only filled with Women and Children did he question what he did.
Sure, he had killed many his Brothers had called 'Heathens', but they usually went to convert those who did not fight. This village was only involved because of a few already-dead magic users. Yet they were ordered to kill them all.

The village burned, but instead of the inhabitants, it was the fellow knights and Priests who were hungry for blood who burned with it.

Omazige made sure that he would never be mistaken for what he used to be by carving into his helmet a new face with the very magic he once sought out to destroy.

Upon hearing of Boletaria's plight, and knowing that both Mages and Priests alike would answer the call, he made his way towards the fog in an attempt to not only help with this problem, but to settle some loose ends.
♦Theme: M.I.A.

♦Username: Zahzi.
♦Name: Adrian Hayder.
♦Age: 24.
♦Class: Thief
♦Appearance: Adrian.
♦Equipment: Various assortment of Knives, throwing, and melee. Dark, leather armor. Explosives. Any other Miscellaneous equipment fitting for a Thief.
♦History: Adrian has always had a problem plowing right past Kleptomania, and right at the doors of Mass Hoarding..
Born and raised with the philosophy 'Take what you have not been given', Adrian grew up to be a fast learner in the Thieving business. This includes knowing that Cardio is VERY essential to one who runs from the guards on a constant basis, and that sometimes, you can't avoid a fight. He always was good with knives...
While being a professional Thief, he has also gained a good bit of knowledge in many fields. Whether it be facts, rumors, or even how to conveniently scale a wall in order to avoid detection.

Adrian's involvement with Boletaria is very simple.
"No one's there, so no one's gonna get pissed if I help myself to whatever's not bolted down!"
♦Theme: Smooth Criminal (Violin).

♦Username: Randomly Gone Insane
♦Name: Tabari Eamje
♦Age: 28
♦Class: Hunter
♦Appearance: Tabari
♦Equipment: Bow and Arrows and an Axe; Leather armor with animal fur on the inside, for comfort and warmth
♦History: Tabari was born and raised in a nomadic tribe, who often wandered between cities to offer goods gathered between travels. While some of the tribe members practiced the art of trading, the others practiced the art of battle. When she gave of age, and Tabari was given the choice between the two arts, she chose battle. From her mother, she learned how to use a bow and arrow with great accuracy, while from her father she learned how to wield and swing an axe, despite her smaller frame.
Four years ago, as her family and tribe were leaving Boletaria after camping and trading for a few days, they decided to go towards the mountains rather than move to the next city. There were rumors that circled around Boletaria of a dragon who lived in the mountains, and the warriors wanted to challenge themselves by taking on the dragon. What they had found was unbelievable, but thrilling at the same time, as the rumor had been true. There was a dragon, living in a cave within the mountain side. The dragon was enraged by the invasive humans, and soon the tribe and the dragon fought. After several causalities, the dragon had been slain to which the tribe celebrated. While some members busied themselves with harvesting everything they could off of the dragon, others went into it's cave to see what could be found. Tabari had been among the group to venture into the cave, and while they found very little treasure to be had, they did find a single egg, roughly the size of a kettle. Upon it's discovery, the other members wanted to destroy the egg to kill the young dragon inside and make a profit on what was left to be sold. Tabari though had disagreed, unable to bring herself to kill what was only a baby. The others tried to ignore her argument to let the egg leave, and as they were about to smash it, Tabari moved herself in the way, refusing to budge. With neither side able to come to an agreement the tribe left the cave, while Tabari remained behind with the egg. She spent weeks keeping the egg warm by fire, hoping something would happen and her unofficial exile from the tribe would amount to nothing. At the end of the second week, the egg finally did hatch, to which Tabari was ecstatic to see a young dragon who was confused by her presence, but alive and healthy. Since then, Tabari had raised and trained the dragon to be somewhat of a pet and companion to her.

•Username: Devious Duo
•Name: Esmeria Lothloreain
•Age: 27
•Class: Royalty
•Appearance: (will update this when I find the camera or get the scanner to work) Esmeria
•Equipment: A light-weight rapier with a solid handling, a fragrant ring, a silver coronet (hidden from sight under lengthy hair), a silver catalyst (kept safely on side pouch), soft-tailored leather armor with downy feather lining, hardened leather boots with steel trimmings, etc.
•History: As one could of expected of being born and raised into royalty, Esmeria grew up with a humble yet aristocratic nature that was expected of her. This did not however, distract her from her interests in the finer arts of war. She was especially fancied by the art of the blade, taking keen interest in spending hours learning how to properly handle the rapier and her less-than-desired interests in the arts of magic. It wasn’t until though, when the tide of Boletaria's plight was heard, did she decide to take a step out of the ordinary once again.

Esmeria interest in Boletaria is quite simplistic yet complicated: She wishes to enter the fog in hopes that her status becomes M.I.A. and live a new life out of the destruction of others.
•Theme: Trivium - Kirisute Gomen

♦Username: Lady Kyoushu
♦Name: Danaerys
♦Age: Unknown
♦Class: Mage
♦Appearance: Dany
♦Equipment: Daggers and a Staff
♦History: As the fog enveloped a nearby city, Danaerys' nearby town was affected by the rare whisps of fog that would stray from the wall of darkness. It caused disappearances of those who would come in contact and would destroy homes when the whisps were of a decent size. Danaerys was in the woods practicing her magic when the fog hit; as she feared the punishent for those who found her to have such abilities. She and her faithful wolf, Xena, did not suspect the damage that was to come when the smallest piece of the fog came in contact with the magic she was performing on her wolf. Their souls switched. And while she was able to return them to their original bodies, the effects are slowly changing. Her wolf still speaks in human tongue and Danaerys herself still howls aside her companion.

The Fog.

All who heeded the words of Boletaria's Plight, and went against all sensible thought first found The Fog.

The deep gray coming off of this fog was unlike what most would imagine.
All that it touched seemed to just disappear in the colorless, and sightless sheet.

But even before people would enter it, they saw the true problem: It was slowly expanding, making its way across fields and homes.

The Fog. It started with one man, but threatens to take us all.

As one enters The Fog, sight becomes useless. No light penetrates through, and no sounds other than your own footsteps could be heard for what could feel like an eternity.

Even for those who entered together, they would be lost the moment they touched the fog. As if they were transported to another location in the fog.

The only thing that keeps people from going mad from the silence and sightlessness, is the natural instinct to move forward.
For while you cannot see anything, your very mind is putting a small light at the end of the horizon. And all you can do is walk towards it.

The Fog. It started with one man, but threatens to take us all.
But perhaps someone can stop it.

Among many walking forward, was a Steel-Clad Knight and a Nimble Thief. Their reasons much different, yet here all the same.

They are surely not the only ones here..

It was thicker, thicker than anything she had ever seen at that point. Tabari was sure she was lost as well. How long had she been in here? Five minutes? Ten? An hour? She lost track long ago. If she hadn't kept her hand steady on her dragon's shoulder, constantly reminding herself she was not alone, she might have gone insane.

The dragon made a low rumbling noise, craning his neck around to look back at the Hunter she began to slow down in sheer awe and fear of the fog.

Tabari was lost looking in the fog for a few moments, before her draft horse sized companion snorted, startling her.

"Celtor, you scared me." She chuckled nervously, patting the dragon's shoulder. "Don't do that. You might get mistaken for a monster... Or give us away to one..."

Oddly enough in the expansion of the fog, it had brought a sense of eerie calm to Esmeria. From living so many silent years in the haunted walls that shielded the royal family's domain, it was not solitude that would get to her but the lack of real battle experience.

One could train for many years upon years, but without the real knowledge of labor beat into one's living flesh, it'd be a real wonder if her original plan would come to fruit.

"You'd think in the amount of time, that something...or even someone would appear. It's almost like walking in-between the lines of dreams and nightmares." she half-mumbled, trying to keep her nerve as she had previously did when she so foolishly entered in with half-hearted bravado.

The Templar and Thief continued through the Fog, as did the Hunter and Royal.

Something was watching them.
Whether ravenous eyes looking for a meal, or a testing gaze, it was clear a decision was made.

A ringing could be heard in the back of all of their minds.

The Templar looked forward, seeing the same as the Thief. A true end to the pitch-black fog.

"Brave souls. Who fear not death. I shall guide you. To the Nexus."

A way out: ring of pure light.

"So that you may lull the Old One back to slumber."

". . ." The Templar stared at the light for more than a few moments, discerning whether or not it was in his head or not.
After a minute, he walked into the light, disappearing into thin air.

The Thief took less time to question it and practically jumped into the light, disappearing as well.

Ringing began in her head, the first thing to make Tabari stop. She couldn't make out if the ringing was coming from within herself, or if came else where. It was too hard to pinpoint it down and be sure. Was this the first step into insanity..?

Celtor looked around, as if searching for something. He gave a low growl as he moved his head around, glaring into the dark fog.

"You hear it to, boy..?" Tabari smiled weakly, rubbing the dragon's shoulder just as the strange voice spoke out. She was startled at first, and began to search around frantically. Who was that? Who spoke? She couldn't see anybody through the fog.

A bright light shined in her eyes, demanding her attention as she shielded her eyes from the sudden glare of the light. It brought an odd sense of relief to her, being surrounded by overwhelming dark fog of death.

"Come on, boy." Tabari crawled up onto Celtor's back. Gods knew what was beyond that light. She wanted to be with her friend to meet whatever was on the other side, together facing the voice that had spoke.
Once Tabari was on, Celtor trotted into the light, and disappeared into it.

The moment the ringing took effect to her head, she felt the compulsion to take an automatic step backward in response. She was caught off-guard, not sure if the ringing was some kind of an alert of an enemy approaching or if her body was taking a mental crash in attempts to tell her that this was foolishness.

Before she could comment though, her words become halted when she began to hear the voice of something beyond mortal comprehension. Esmeria was not clearly sure what the meaning of this could be, but that one ring of light...something about it was pulling at her. "Beyond this, might be the first of my answers..." she replied, slowly stepping forward now as one hand held fast over her face as she went into the light.

All four disappeared completely from the snare of the blinding fog, and seemed to reappear in a ruined field. Bodies, some charred, others half-eaten strewn around. They were at the doorstep of the problem. All they needed to do was look North and see the Castle of Boletaria.

All four, while on the same field, were far apart. While most surrounding them seemed dead, slowly began to rise up.
Still human by appearance, these Soul-Starved Dreglings stared at the four with empty expressions. Before they slowly began to move towards them, audible moans showing a lack of intelligence.

The Templar stared at the Dreglings, and tightened the grip on his Claymore, waiting for their approach.

The Thief took a step backward, but stopped before taking another, hearing more behind him.
"Well. This is new..."

"But first. For you all to know what you face.."

As they reappeared into the field littered with bodies, Tabari was startled to see the amount of that they had been surrounded by. She had heard the death roll was high from the fog, but numbers in your head only did so much. To actually see the amount, or even a portion of it... It was unbelievable, even as they laid in front of her.

Celtor had begun his low growl again as they appeared, glaring at the bodies before them. He could sense the second, unnatural breath of life in Dreglings, long before they rose up to reveal they're life. As they rose, his growl grew louder and his tail began to wag low to the ground, moving like a whip and threatening to hit those that closed in from behind.

As the corpses began moving, Tabari stiffened in fear and shock. The soulless bodies moved and drug themselves closer to her. Their moans made her skin crawl and they're lifeless eyes sent a chilling shiver of fear down her spine. This was wrong on many levels.

"Stay back," She whimpered, reaching over her head and to her back, grabbing onto the handle of her axe. "I'm warning you."

It was as the rumors had foretold, nothing would prepare for the sight ahead if you survived the toil of entrapping fog. She was not used to seeing such a level of casual carnage, bodies in such disfigured heaps, that death seemed to have a footstep everywhere.

Though, she wasn't allowed time to dawdle nor let her stomach argue with distasteful bile as a stench of untold proportion began to rise with the soulless bodies that seemed to move with an unearthly motion.

"What...are these things?" she spat, hand reaching fervidly for her rapier at her side. There were no proper words to describe them besides the pictures of zombies she had seen etched in some old cryptic-looking books. Her other hand raised up the shield she had strewn to her arm, unsure what direction they would move, til they would get in closer striking distance.

Almost as if on demand, they began sprinting at the four, weapons raised and their moans much more feral than before.
They were not going to ask nicely for the new souls in front of them. They were more inclined to just rip them apart for their prize.

Fortunately, they showed no sense of intelligence, nor teamwork. Many of them were bumping into each other, creating openings, and making sure only a select few came in for an attack.

The Templar, Omazige began cleaving through any that came near, already covered in their blood.
The act of slaughtering those who could barely defend themselves was not new to him..

The Thief, Adrian, unsheathed a knife and ran towards the first one, dodging the swing of their ruined sword and slicing through their jugular.
They fell like any human would.
"Well, at least they're not unstoppable.." he said, looking behind him and jumping to the side to avoid another attack.
"HOW MANY PEOPLE LIVED HERE!?"

((Feel free to kill them as much as you want. Dreglings = Cannon Fodder. XD ))
PostPosted: Tue Dec 06, 2011 9:58 am
When the undead moved in for the attack, Tabari slid off of her dragon's back with hr axe drawn out. As a few stumbled and pushed their way forward, she swung her large axe with in large swipes from side to side, cutting the dreglings in half as she mowed through their numbers.

With Tabari off, Celtor pounced forward into the bumbling mass of the undead. They were easy prey, between the heavy smacks of his claws, the butting from his head and horns, and swipes from his tail. Small spaces would be cleared, and he pounced off again, preferring to be surrounded and cause more damage.

"I was...going to be worried by that...? Well, they seem like they would make good practice dummies..." she mused, letting her nerves limber out now that she was able to feel more humbled by the introduction of easy enemies. As one casually approached, she let her feet do most of the work as she ducked in, thrusting her rapier like it was an extension of her arm.

She turned, left then right, then back again! They didn't seem like nothing much now, but the fact they were sheer in numbers was the only thing that irked her. Though, she couldn't afford to ponder too much. The slightest distraction could be used as an advantage to even the weakest of enemies, in which she saw as she leaned backwards just in time to dodge the swipe of a dregling. "Jesh, what the heck motivates them...?"
