Plot
For ages, there have always been two elements that have stayed the same while the rest of the world has changed; the elements of a hero and a villain. The hero is always said to hold extraordinary powers that were created for the good of everyone, while the villain always has powers that were created to do bad.
The heroes always choose to do good and know what they are to do. The villains always choose to do bad and always crave for the world to be theirs. That's what we've been told to believe....
What if what we know of the hero and the villain has been wrong?
Not every superhero is ready to take on the fate of the planet and not every supervillain is completely evil.
Now it is time for this revelation to become known to a huge city called 'Coastal Cliff'. Strange things have been happening in the dark of the night that no one can even begin to explain. Top secret weapons in a military facility have been vanishing over the past several months and the only clue they have as to who has been 'controlling' soldiers within the facility to take them and give them to a black clad villain who always leaves a black butterfly on the 'puppet'.
The people are begging for a hero to come save them from what may lead to the end of the world.
Let the games begin...

A silhouette stood out against the almost ebony sky. The figure was obviously of average height and lean, but the only thing that made it any different was the pair of butterfly wings that seemed to come from the girl's back. They were not real, only for decoration.
The security guard standing outside of the 'electrical plant' suddenly began to move, though not voluntarily. His mind went blank as he entered the building, being used like a puppet. A short while later, he reappeared with a fat binder filled with top secret information about a new weapon that was being created within the facility. He dropped it just below the building that the girl stood on and walked back to his post, slumping against the wall when she released his body.
Jumping down, Darkwings, also known as Puppeteer to the press and community, grabbed the file and left, releasing a black butterfly from a bug cage that she kept hooked onto her belt. She forced her will over the tiny creatures and made it fly from her to the security guard, landing on it and dying without a fight. Then she vanished into the shadows of the night...

Stormheart Stormheart landed several feet away as the guard blinked several times in confusion, as if waking from a deep sleep, before noticing the butterfly on his shoulder. In his transformed state, he had enhanced strength and agility, though he wasn't able to fly. His eyes shone a pale greenish teal in the dim light. Odd... I don't know what pulled me here, but it may have to do with the 'Starstone', he thought. He knew what the Starstone was, a pale silver-blue gemstone the size of a toddler's fist that shone with an internal prismatic energy and the source of his abilities. He knew his hair was a deep reddish black in this form as compared to the normal reddish violet it normally was. He sighed as a black visor enclosed over his face, making him appear faceless as he scaled the walls with the claws of his armored form. He stared down into a skylight and sighed as he spotted the Starstone, obviously the source of whatever they were creating here. Damned fools... they stole it from me, claiming I'd stolen it from a damned store when I found the thing after that meteor impact, he thought as he drove a fist through the Plexiglass, shattering it. He noticed almost immediately the subtle reddish reflections of lasers that protected the otherworldly gemstone, though he simply held up a hand and drew the Starstone upward telekinetically, ignoring the slight sparks from the contact as the gem came free. It landed in his palm before he stood, pressing it to his chest; the armor immediately absorbed it before flaring with light.

A flash of light behind her caught Darkwing's attention. Turning, she saw Stormheart and watched him for a long moment before vanishing into the shadows. A man after my own heart. She thought with a mischievious chuckle. Perhaps I'll meet him again at another time. Vanishing yet again, she snuck into her own house through the window to her room. Changing into a pair of pajamas, she burnt the fat file in the sink, sheet by sheet.

Stormheart Stormheart sighed as he leaped off the rooftop, landing with a crunch on the sidewalk; he felt the concrete compress and split under his weight, though he felt little from it. He darted into the shadows, his form a blur of dark gray and red. He leaped upward and swung around a power pole, landing in the upstairs window of the small house he and his mother; his father worked nights. He felt words slip through his mind and murmured them without realizing it. "Eximo cui aeternus atrum," he murmured. Immediately the armor faded away as he felt a searing heat build in his chest. He exhaled as the heat faded away swiftly, leaving him in his casual dark bluish black jeans and pale gray tee shirt. He removed the shirt to see an odd marking no larger than a nickel fading from a bright reddish orange to black. "Odd... guess the Starstone somehow merged with my body and armor," he muttered as he removed his jeans and slid into the bed; he was starting at the local high school the following morning. What bothers me is what the hell the Starstone was doing at that electric plant... unless the plant was a front for something else, he thought.

Adrianna Neverhart woke up the next morning to her alarm clock screaming at her. Slapping the off button, she climbed out of bed and began her usual morning schedule before school. Once she was dressed and ready to go, she ran down the steps and entered the kitchen. On the TV was a news reporter frantically talking about last night's mysterious reoccurrence of a security guard found half dead with a black butterfly on his shoulder. "The Puppeteer has struck again. If the Puppeteer is not caught soon all of our power may go out and many of us will be out of jobs. If you have any clues as to where we might find this villain, please call the number below."
Walking forward, she turned off the TV and rolled her eyes, "Rubbish. The 'Puppeteer'?" A little boy with crimson colored hair very similar to her own began to complain about turning the TV back on.
"I wanna be a hero when I get older!" Thom said.
"A hero? Why?"
"So I could beat the snot out of the Puppeteer and teach them a lesson!"
Adrianna burst out laughing as she walked out the door and started towards the high school, "Good luck with that, because I'm pretty sure that the 'Puppeteer' would kick your rear end to the moon and back."

Merrick Kandouji groaned as he slapped the ancient alarm clock, not noticing that it had ended up nearly crushed under his hand. He heard his father cursing in the tiny kitchen and snorted as he swung his legs out from under the bed.
He quickly got dressed in a black jacket, the same jeans from the previous night, and the same shirt. Idiots... he thought.

Upon entering the courtyard to the public school, Adrianna walked over to a group of students that all looked like they came from rich families. As a matter of fact, they were and they believed that they ruled the school. Many of the boys were bulky and obviously looked the part they played of a football player; many of the girls looked both beautiful and fake and too peppy for their own good, your typical cheerleaders. Unfortunately, Adrianna was the sore thumb in this group. She was the musician and actress. She did whatever it took to be what the part required. To fit into this group, she had to act completely bubbly, though that was the last thing she was on the inside. "Did you guys here about the Puppeteer's last feat?" The football captain asked.
"Dude, the Puppeteer is like a total freak." The cheerleading captian, who was leaning against the football captain as if he were her possession, said in her high pitched voice that made Adrianna want to die.
As others agreed, Adrianna pretended to play along, "I heard that the Puppeteer doesn't pay the people that they make victim. They actually control them like a real puppeteer would." Others gaped at her and she shrugged, "Hey, my dad's a reporter for the local newspaper, so I'm in the loop with those kinds of things."

Merrick Kandouji reached the courtyard a few minutes later. "If I wanted a freak, Cam, I'd just have to look at your face... don't mirrors shatter around you?" he said dryly, his tone dry and sarcastic as he strode up to the football captain. He respected Cam Houser, but didn't get along with him. Merrick himself looked more like a runner than a fighter, which was what he was; he showed a sarcastic and dry humor to most people even though he was the opposite in reality. He could be very loyal and friendly, though the fact his father worked on average 17 hours a day made him irritable more often than not.

Adrianna looked over at Merrick with slight admiration. He wasn't afraid to speak his mind and she always had to hide what she really felt behind a mask of total happiness and fake laughter. "Perhaps that what happened to my mirror?" The red haired girl said, holding up a broken compact mirror, making the rest of the group laugh. Inwardly, she told herself as she forced her will to stay within her and not wander to a random person, but it seemed to be repelled by Merrick, as if it were trying to get away from him.
Pushing red hair behind her ear, she put the broken mirror back in her pocket. Forcing her will into the football captain, suddenly he lunged forward and grabbed Merrick's shirt. This was the hard part, because Adrianna had to make it seem as if he were himself and not being controlled by a girl shorter than him by at least three heads. "What was that, punk?"

Merrick yawned as if it didn't bother him. "You heard me, though considering how many times you got sacked in that last game... it's no surprise you lost what few functioning brain cells you had," he said blandly, his tone semi-sarcastic. As he spoke, he shifted his weight slightly, leaning a touch closer rather than most people, who would try to get away. His hand rose as if to push Cameron away when it latched onto his wrist and twisted it into a wrist lock as his fingertips lightly tapped the inside of his elbow and the underside of his forearm, rendering the limb numb for a couple of hours. "So... the best advice you can listen to... provided you have enough brain cells to compute it faster than the ENIAC... is to walk away now before you get hurt," he said idly; the entire time his voice was calm, cool, even conversational. It was as if he didn't even really seem to notice what was going on.

Adrianna let go of the captain's mind when the pain began to overwhelm her control of him. Shaking her head a bit, she rubbed her wrist slightly, an odd feeling of slight numbness crawling under her skin. The warning bell rang a few minutes later, to Adrianna's great relief. Waving to everyone, she walked off to class, wondering whether or not she should keep the teachers from giving homework out tonight.
