Characters "The Ninja Way." It means several different things to several different people.
For some, it means that being a ninja is all that matters - protecting the people of your Village is all that matters.
For others, it means to help people find their "Ninja Way."
And then some people think that "The Ninja Way" is simply any way a ninja sees fit to live.
However, almost all people feel that "The Ninja Way" is unwavering once it's found.
For the small amount that believe it can change, they are about to find themselves irrefutable proof.
This story is of two ninja who find that their "Ninja Way's" are about to change.

I find that this is an obvious rule. We should all know the conditions for this by now.
Cybering?
I never get tired of this one - NO. It's generally awkward for the two people who are roleplaying, and it's even more awkward for the people who may read it. The farthest this gets is a make-out session (if it even really gets to that with these two).
Godmoding?
We shall see none of this. Unless they're walking somewhere, there is no reason to be making a character do something they haven't done. 'Nuff said.

I leave the question marks because I'm sure that we know that, since we're working with two characters who are in their late 20's at best, it's going to have to be a mature playing style, though the content may not be mature.

Characters Let's keep this short, shall we?
Amegakure is in need of dire help. Being situated in the middle of three of the Great Shinobi Nations, it is constantly being used as a war site, and, even with its heavily-defended boundaries, mishaps are still occurring. Ninja are sneaking in and abusing the safety of Amegakure, as well as harming the populace. It needs assistance and has asked for help from other Villages.
Enter Tsujia Chikako of Iwagakure. In the midst of trying to get to Amegakura, Chikako ran into a team from Konohagakure and was allowed to join them, as she had been sent (on her own) to help after returning from a mission. Her skills stemmed from medical jutsu, but she was still a well-respected Jonin in her Village. She seemed to get along well with the group of Jonin and Chunin she had met up with.
Now enter Hatake Kakashi - the famous Copy Nin that people know about in other Villages. He was the only one who didn't really appreciate the usefulness of Chikako, and therefore they tend to constantly clashed. He couldn't seem to see her value, especially with what was occurring in Amegakure, and he let her know it.
However, they are all in for a harrowing journey, and if they want to actually help in Amegakure, they will have to set aside their differences.
Our story will begin on the second day of the "extended" group's travels.

Characters As was stated before, the two ninja are in a rather difficult situation.
One doesn't appreciate the other's talents, and the other refuses to show the respect the former actually deserves. They are opposites in almost every way (or so they think) and can barely go half an hour without arguing. And that was all observed within twenty-four hours of Chikako meeting up with the team from Konohagakure.
However, there is a saying that opposites attract, but maybe that's because those opposites aren't as different as they'd originally thought.
But that's beside the point - Kakashi and Chikako don't get along, and they don't care to make the other peoples' lives miserable. But as time goes along, they both have to grudgingly admit that they might just be more alike than they thought - that they might just have the same motives. And slowly they each adapt to a new "Ninja Way" that allows them to notice things they never had before - a little word called "feelings." In more detail, "their feelings for each other."
But noticing those feelings and acting on them are two different things, especially in the midst of a war - people die every day, so why let yourself grow attached to one another? Too bad they can't run from them forever. So the only question is when will they act on them, and just how will they cope with something they never wanted to develop in the first place?

Kakashi stayed at the front of the little group of ninjas as they hopped from tree to tree to continue their journey to Amegakure. He was happy with the team the Hokage made for this mission, but he still didnt understand why an Iwagakure ninja was allowed to join them. They didnt need the help since he was already there in command, but when sent a messenger dog to her he got one hell of a spat from her. Since he had no choice he had to accept the ninja, Chikako, in to the group. He sighed and couldnt wait to stop for the day and continue reading Make-Out Paradise.

The blonde who lingered at the back of the group made a face at the back of the infamous Copy Nin - just because she could and because he'd been an a** since they had gotten up that morning. She heard the woman beside her snicker, and she shared a glance with the Jonin, her lips curving into a smile as she nudged the woman. "What are you sniggering about, Hitomi-chan?" she queried, her chocolate-colored eyes glinting.
The other woman snorted, giving Chikako a look that she knew well. "It's no wonder you two aren't getting along at all," Hitomi scolded, ignoring the question she'd been asked.
Chikako feigned hurt, placing a hand over her heart. "I can't believe you would say such a thing," she murmured. She quickly dropped the act as she added, "Besides, there's no reason to be moping about like this. We're not there yet, and we're not even in enemy territory - no one's going to attack us for at least another day because we're too close to friendly villages. You guys need someone to lighten the mood, and that someone is me~"
Hitomi choked back a laugh, glancing at their Captain - Kakashi. "Yes, well, I don't think my Captain approves." She sighed as Chikako waved her hand.
"You worry too much, but fine. We'll do it your way. Pretty soon you'll be begging me to get back to my silly antics because you're that bored," Chikako stated before she set her gaze to their surroundings.

Kakashi turned his head back to look at Chikako and the Jonin known as Hitomi, "Enough with the talking. You'll give our position away." He then turned his head back forward and continued jumping. He sighed as he tried to focus, but to him it was like a female version of Naruto was with him. He didnt like that one bit. After another 20 minutes he stopped and held out his arm stopping the rest of the group. He looked around with a suspicious eye. It was strange. Even if they were close to friendly villages not one enemy ninja has been seen yet. No ninja has been seen yet. He looked back at the rest of the group, "Proceed with caution. Were getting closer." He then took off again still a little on edge.

Chikako shared a glance with Hitomi at the lateness of the man's admonishment, but neither of them said anything more, keeping pace with the group easily. Chikako jumped lithely and silently as they continued their path, her gaze scanning and imprinting the area around them into her mind. She paused with the rest of the group as Kakashi stopped them, and even though she knew something was wrong around them, she couldn't help but think he was extremely on edge. She'd seen ninja paranoid before, but the Copy Nin took it to a whole new level for her. Which was a part of the problem with him, but she allowed it not to bother her too much since he was the captain of the group and was, therefore, in charge of keeping them all (minus her) safe. When he cautioned them all and promptly started jumping again, she felt the back of her neck prickle with unease, which meant one of two things: either one, his paranoia was spreading through the rest of the group and making them all on edge, or two, there really was something wrong.

Kakashi kept himself focused because for some strange reason he just couldnt shake off the feeling that something was off. He looked around a bit and noted some things, "Dense forest, no ninja, no animals...." Thats when he noticed it. Ever since they began traveling he never heard any types of animals at all. No birds, bugs, or even mammals of any kind. Now he was on guard more than ever. After about 10 to 20 minutes of jumping and leaping from tree to tree Kakashi stopped and held his arm out again, "We'll rest here for a bit." He still was on edge, but he had to relax if he wanted the group to stay calm.

It didn't take long for the blonde ninja to notice that the more they kept going, the more tense Kakashi became, and the more fidgety the rest of his group became. It started slowly, but it became more and more obvious as time went along. Actually, it was starting to be rather ridiculous since everyone but her - and Kakashi, she admitted grudgingly - seemed to be really, really edgy. And an edgy group was not a good thing, especially if they were going to be attacked. It was one thing to be paranoid and edgy before an attack and entirely another thing to feel an adrenaline rush from being attacked. If they were ambushed, it was highly possible that the group would fall apart before they could do any damage to their attackers. When Kakashi stopped again, Chikako allowed herself to sigh and sit down before falling backwards to let her legs support her on the tree limb. Upside down she kept studying her surroundings and allowed herself to relax - it was an odd way of doing it, but anything that relied on earth calmed her, and the feel of gravity pulling down on her definitely helped. Not to mention she could easily flip back up or drop down from that position if she needed to.

Kakashi looked back at the group and noticed they were edgy as well...except for Chikako who was hanging upside down. He shook his head and looked over at a Chunin who went by the name of Kuro, "I want you to keep watch for a bit. No matter what if anything alerts you tell me." The man nodded and ahead a few feet before he sat down and placed his palm against another tree. Kakashi sat down against the trunk of the tree as the rest of the group began to relax. He pulled out his book, turned it to a specific page, and began to read. His eye glanced over at Chikako, "You know you could go help him instead of just doing nothing and hanging there."

Chikako sighed softly, enjoying the feel of her spine stretching out to its full length once more. She felt the vertebrae between her shoulder blades pop once as it shifted back into place, but otherwise she didn't make any noise and kept her sights to the trees surrounding them while tying some of her chakra into the tree she was hanging from. That was when she felt eyes on her and heard Kakashi speak. The blonde ninja twisted herself to where she could see the Copy Nin, blinking at his statement. "Actually, Kakashi-san, I am doing something while I hang here - it's a lot better than you reading those porno books," she retorted. She had left him alone most of the morning, so she didn't see why he felt the need to pick a fight with her about her tactics - which he knew nothing of because he had never asked (nor had she ever said, but she couldn't just go and reveal all her secrets to this foreign group). Sighing, she released her chakra hold on the tree and flipped herself up onto the limb in an upright position. "But fine - I'll help in the style you prefer." She turned and jumped to the opposite perimeter of the camp that the Chunin Kuro was on so that he had the area ahead of them and she had the area behind them. Once she deemed she was far enough away, she sat on the lower limb she'd landed on, her back against the tree trunk, and extended her chakra to where she could feel any vibrations from people on the ground. She then leaned her head back so she could watch the sky and the upper areas of the tree (which she couldn't reach without overexerting her limit).
