Introduction Ʈɛʃʃ ɱɛ ɩ'ɱ ɴᴑʈ IɳʂɑɴɛWith FieryHeartedAngel & Sylar GinyokuType: Romance/Drama The Story Plot xxxxA young girl lived a perfect, normal life up until two days before her eighteenth birthday. On that day, she was kidnapped from her home and her parents and twin brother were murdered. She often thinks why they didn't just kill her as well seeing as it would've been better then the month of nothing but abuse, starvation, and raping's that she went through until the cops found her. There were three men involved in her kidnapping and the police only managed to catch the one. The other two are still on the run and the girl is afraid that they'll come back for her. However, she's got bigger problems right now. Everything that has happened to her has really messed with her head and so has landed her in the local asylum. The young girl wants out and she's gone to dramatic lengths to reach freedom over the month that she's been in the asylum. She has many different symptoms, all of them pointing to insanity. Many counselors have tried to help her, but all of them have failed and deemed her case hopless. Will her new counselor she's going to recieve be any different? Will be able to help her and make her become like her old self again? He's convinced that he can. The Rules 1) Please be active and don't let this rp die if you decide to join. 2) You must be at least semi-literate. I won't get on you for a few grammer/spelling mistakes -- I make them myself. You do need to talk in 3rd person and write out your actions though. Also, no one liners! I'd like to see a good chunky post. Pretty, pretty, please! With a cherry on top? =P 3) Pm me your profile titled 'Tell Me I'm Not Insane' and please include a rp sample if I've never rp'd with you before. 4) Just because I need a guy character doesn't mean you need to be a guy to play him. You can be a girl playing the guy character, I don't care about that. 5) Last but not least, obey Gaia's ToS and have fun!
Here are some of my rp's if you'd like to see them: Example 1 | Example 2 | Example 3
The Skeleton Name: Nickname: (If any) Age: Height:
Personality:
Bio: (At least one good sized paragraph)
Image: (Real Picture Please!) [img][/img]
The Characters The Girl Name: Grace Leanne Sherwood Nickname: Gracie Age: 18 Height: 5'9" Problems: Personality disorder, hallucinations, violent at times, and a danger to herself and others.
Personality: Grace used to be a kind, caring, and helpful type of person. She was rarely serious and always joking around as well as sticking up for her friends when they needed her. She had friends, family, a care free life and was a good student. Now that she's in the asylum, however, it's like there never was a sweet girl in there. She's always rude, yelling and screaming at those trying to help her or touch her, or do anything for her in anyway. She smiles and laughs at the things that shouldn't be smiled about and has an almost sadistic type of personailty towards everything.
Bio: Grace used to be a normal teenager living a normal, simple life. She never had to worry about issues that were more serious then she was willing to handle. The only troubles she faced were teenage things; dances, choosing a college, getting a good grade. Your normal, average problems. Two days before her eighteenth birthday though, her parents and brother were murdered in their home by three men. They kidnapped her even though Grace had wished that she had died along with them, especially after a month of starving, being beat, and raped by them.
That one month felt like the longest month in Grace's life until one day the police showed up and found her. They managed to catch one man, but the other two are still wanted, still on the run. Grace was immediatly sent the hospital for treating and after only two days, they released her from there only to have her put into an asylum. It was what she needed they had told her, but Grace thinks that she's perfectly normal. That the things that she see's and that she thinks are perfectly normal, that she's not hallucinating or anything at all. After hearing various counselors consider her a lost cause, Grace is starting to lose hope that she'll ever get out of here. Will the new counselor that is coming to see her help her any, or will he be just another failure in Grace's eyes?

The Counselor Name: James Kingsley Nickname: James Age: 25 Height: 6'1
Personality: James has always been a kind-hearted guy. He loves to goof around and likes a challenge, especially when it comes to woman. James knows how to be kind and sweet, but also when to be strong and stern - to show that he means business. James is no pushover. He is very protective of his friends and family, although he hasn't had contact with his family in years. James is quite analytical, when you think he's just loafing around he could truly just be studying you. He is incredibly smart and graduated at top of his class. He is known to have an IQ somewhere above 180.
Bio: James was born to a poor family. His mother, being a victim of rape, wasn't too fond of having him around. Because of this, he was constantly beat and mistreated as a child. That stopped however, one evening when James decided he had enough and fueled by rage completely wrecked their tiny house. His mother grew to fear him and he ran away. He couldn't bear to see her afraid to step out of her room. James managed to get to a small city in Oklahoma when he finally collapsed. An elderly couple took him in when he was just 14 and taught him the difference between right & wrong. James left their home when he was 18 and studied at the University of Oregon. He still keeps in touch with them and has tried to make contact with his mother. She is now married and has two other children, but she never wishes to see him again . . .

xxxGrace had awoken about an hour ago right when the sun started to come over the horizon and shine in the very corner of her window. She now found herself sitting at the piano, playing peices of music that she remembered from before she got put into this asylum three months ago. Grace seemed to unconciously follow the same pattern every day she was here. Wake up early, play the piano, scream and yell at people, start fights, eat her three square meals a day, then go to bed. It wasn't much of a life, but Grace had no desire to do anything else. As of yet, she had only screamed everyone out of the room that she was currently playing in this morning, not wanting anyone to be watching her. It was just one of the many changes that had happened to Grace. Before everything happened, she used to love to perform for people, but now? No. Not in the least. She hated it more then anything else she supposed. It no longer took much effort on her part anymore, most people just left when they saw her walk in the mornings which was Grace was glad for. While she didn't mind yelling at people, she didn't like to. . . if that made sense. The not liking to yell at people part still lingered with her old care-free self who hardly ever got upset, but since coming to the asylum, her personality had changed dramatically. This place makes people worse, not better, she thought to herself with a slight frown.
Grace closed her eyes and continued to play her song. It was one that held a lot of notes to it and flowed together seamlessly as her fingers skimmed across the board quickly, hitting the right keys from pure memory. When she was admitted to the asylum, her music scholarship was stripped from her. Her plans and dreams from the future was taken from her all because of those men. Those thoughts caused her to become angry and hit a wrong note on accident. She breathed out a long sigh to relax herself and continued playing with no thoughts running through her head except for the tune of the song. Even while the music drowned out most small noises, her ears were very alert for any sort of sound that came from within the room. Even when Grace looked relax, she was always being very observant of the things around her whether it was from sight or just simply hearing the sounds; not much got past her.

James Kingsley - PsychoAnalyst "When dealing with the insane, the best method is to pretend to be sane."
Cause nobody wants to be the last one there Cause everyone wants to feel like someone cares Someone to love with my life in their hands There's gotta be somebody for me like that Cause nobody wants to do it on their own And everyone wants to know they're not alone There's somebody else that feels the same somewhere There's gotta be somebody for me out there
James yawned as he pulled up to the Institute, he had just gotten out of college two years before but already he was getting pretty big cases. A good sign. James fixed his tie and slid his hands into his pockets as he walked up the staircase that led to the steel door. A bit redundant, he thought but ehhh. Wasn't his place to criticize, now was it? He lifted his hand to knock when the door slowly swung open to reveal two elderly men in labcoats smiling. "Greetings Dr. Kingsley. Come in. Come." He didn't wish to point out he hadn't gotten his masters yet and just followed. He could hear the sound of a piano through the halls and closed his eyes, imagining what kind of person could play that here. "Well Dr. Kingsley, as you know we need your help. We have a young girl here, a miss Grace Sherwood and we want your help in curing her." James nodded and the men smiled nervously before leading him towards the room Grace was in. They were going to step in when James held out his hand and stepped forwards, but hasn't crossed the threshold.
This girl . . . she was amazing. Absolutely spectacular. He notice she had made one error but paid it no mind, it meant nothing. When she was done, James lifted his hands and began to clap. "Bravo Miss Sherwood. Beautifully done." The right corner of his lip curled in slightly in a lop-sided grin.

xxxWhen Grace's song came to a close, she jumped ever so slightly in surprise when she heard the sudden clapping of someone at the doorway. A small frown came upon Grace's lips as she shifted her gaze to the man in the doorway. Even when people listened to her play, they never clapped for her and she was unsure of what to do at first. Grace didn't much like being caught by surprise like that, so it took a few more seconds then it normally would've for her to come up with some sort of response. "Maybe," she said with a small shrug.
Grace closed the case that covered the piano keys and turned in her seat slightly to face the man that had come in the doorway. She studied him for a second, taking in his suited and sharp appearence and noticed that he had the air of a counselor. "Lovely, you must be a counselor. . . and seeing as you know my name, I'm guessing you've been assigned to me," she said to him, her bright blue eyes coming to rest on his eyes. "I already feel sorry for you," Grace said sarcastically with a small smirk on her face as she got up from the bench and looked at the doorway that he was standing in, making it obvious that she wanted to leave but she didn't want to squeeze around him in order to do so. Of course, once she was out of the room, she wasn't going to stick around to let him talk to her. More then likely, she'd make a straight line for anywhere where she wouldn't be bothered.

James knew she was a tad bit surprised by him, and that she felt slightly awkward. Then she was back to herself... or what he assumed she was like. This girl was not insane. She was capable of rational thinking, she was merely angry and hurt. Who wouldn't be, after what she'd gone through. She didn't deserve to be in here. "Yeah, i'm a counselor. Studying to be a Psycho Analyst." He shrugged and knew she wanted out of that room. The two other doctors seemed to be trying to give the impression she wasn't going to leave. James shook his head and without hesitation, shoved them both aside. "Let her be. If she wishes to leave the room, then we have no right to stop her."
He moved into the room and leaned against the wall, leaving the doorway completely available to her. "I haven't been assigned. I took your case because I was hoping I could help. Does that bother you?" He smiled kindly. He wasn't a typical therapist, for one he was young. He was rash and impulsive and would definitely be incredibly different than her past counselors.

xxxGrace listened to him on what he said he was and what he was studying with only a mild amount of interest. However, her interest piqued when she saw him shove the two doctors behind him out of the way and the he himself step aside from the doorway and lean against the wall. His actions confused her slightly seeing as everyone she'd been around staff wise were like the two doctors. They didn't care about what the patients of this facility wanted, they believed that all the people here should be on their schedule and behave according to what the staff wanted. That this man would allow her her right to leave puzzled her a little and also made her curious. Her big curiousity of things was the only thing that never really changed in her even though, sometimes, she wished it had.
With careful thought, she decided to stay in the room a little bit longer to figure this man out a bit more. "Yes," she answered him simply upon hearing his question. "It does," she added as she walked to one corner of the room where there was a chair that she sat on, pulling her legs up and crossing them beneath herself as well. "Everyone has a motive when they take an active move to do something. What was your motive in taking my case?" she asked him. She knew that he had said he took her case because he was hoping he could help, but Grace always thought there was something more that wasn't being said when it came to the counselors here and their actions to 'help' people. So far, she hadn't seen how any of the ones that tried to help her did much good. If anything, they'd made it worse she thought.

James saw her get comfortable in the chair and motioned towards one not to far from her. "May I?" Without waiting for her to say anything, he sat down. They had a space of about 10 feet in between them. James sat back in his chair with one ankle propped up over his other knee. He was relaxed and comfortable, not like the stiff doctors with their notepads. He nodded, "you're right. Everyone does have a motive aside from helping each other out. I am merely a human, after all." He thought momentarily, "my motive was a simple one. You see, my life, although not nearly as difficult as yours, was very tough. I did most mistakes in the past, so this is a way for me to redeem myself." He looked down at his hands, he was being completely serious. The money meant nothing.

xxxGrace shook her head and sighed at him. "I don't even see why you bothered asking," she muttered, not exactly looking for a response, she just liked to voice most of what she thought about others aloud. Grace didn't pay much attention to his lack of appearing in the way a normal counselor would. He had no notebook, no charts, no file that contained things about her that even she didn't even know what it entirely contained. Grace listened to his answer to her question that she'd asked him and then thought his response over. "So, basically, it's for a selfish reason that you're helping me?" she assumed, arching one brow at this. "Nice one," she said to him with a sigh as she relaxed a little further back into the chair. "What makes you so sure you're going to be the one who finally helps little Gracie? Many others before you have tried, they barely even stuck around for five days," she said dryly to him. "How long do you think you'll last before you decide to up and leave as well?" she said to him harshly, though her harshness was mainly just to hide the hurt she felt at being deemed hopeless by many other counselors before him.

James nodded. "You're right. I'm doing this for selfish reasons. However, I do believe my reasons are better than what some others do it for." At this, he turned to the two elderly Counselors in the doorway, "money." They both looked down then grumbled and walked away. James loosened his tie and looked at her. "That's why the others failed." He studied her for a second, "they still treat you like a child. Like 'lil Gracie', not as a young woman."
He thought on her final question, "I can not tell you how long I'll last. For all we know, I could die as I walk out of this place today. I can tell you this though, as long as i'm breathing i'll be here every day. Whether it be for an actual sit down session, or because you'd like to walk around the institute and just shoot the breeze." He smiled at her. "You're trying to be harsh. It's a defense mechanism. Many have given up on you, you're scared i'll do the same. It's a typical reaction, an unnecessary one though."

xxxGrace glanced over in the direction of the other two counselors when she noticed that the man in front of her had directed his attention towards them. While she tried to stop it, she couldn't help the small smile that danced across her lips for a second at the sight of that. The smile was something that she quickly supressed though as she turned her attention back to the counselor in front of her once more. "Maybe they should. After all, that's all I act like anyway. Just a little child," Grace said with a shrug of her shoulders. She'd been told that by a couple people, but she didn't really care all that much about what people thought of her in this place.
"And I'll have you wishing that you didn't just make that commitment by the end of the week probably," she said to him with a sarcastic laugh at his seemingly devoted desire to help her. If he ended up eventually getting her out of this place, she supposed that putting up with him and having him around wouldn't be such a terrible price for her to get her freedom back again. Of course, once she was out of here, she wasn't entirely sure of where to go but that was a worry for another day. At hearing the last bit of what he said, she found herself to be a little angry at it. Angry because, mainly, he'd guessed the reason behind her harshness to him spot on. "Good guess," she said to him, clapping her hands a few times in a mocking way. "I still don't think that it's an unnecessary one at this point. For all I know, you could be lying to me. You haven't even introduced yourself yet," Grace pointed out to him.

James shook his head. "You don't act like a child. You act like a wounded animal simply trying to survive." He laughed at her idle threat and shook his head. "Try me. I'm pretty damn stubborn, Miss Sherwood." He yawned and cracked his neck before raising an eyebrow at her final statement. He could have sworn... "crap." He chuckled softly, "sorry about that. Guess I forgot." James stood up and walked to her before holding out his hand. "I'm James." He knew he was right before and he knew it bothered her. That was ok with him.

xxx"Hm," Grace said to his assumption of what she acted like. She didn't know if that was true or not and any how, she didn't know how to respond to something like that being said about her. "We'll see just how stubborn you really are," she said with a simple shrug of her shoulders, still pretty sure in the response she had given earlier. If he was anything at all like the rest which, at the moment, he seemed to be very different, he would leave eventually like all the rest of them did. Grace watched him almost warily as he walked over towards her and extended his hand which she, involuntarily, flinched away from slightly as if his hand was going to hurt her. Her mind quickly realized that he had only offered it for her to shake, not that she had any intention to. "Nice to meet you James. . . I think?" she said, almost turning that question back onto herself. Was it nice to have him here, or was he just going to turn out to be another dissapointment; something that she didn't need. She wondered how long he would keep his hand there, but didn't bother to comment on the fact. "Why do you wear a suit? Wouldn't you be more comfortable in something else?" she asked him, frowning slightly. While one of her other counselors once wore a suit, she never thought to ask him about why he did. The others she had just seemed to be fine in normal clothing.

Her flinch was too be expected. James had no idea why he thought she wouldn't. He dropped his hand and sat in his seat once more. At her question about the suit, he shrugged. "I'm comfortable in it. Plus, I figured i'd try to look formal this time around. I probably won't wear one too often. Why do you ask?" He saw her frown and wondered if she had something against suits. Odd. But possible. "Would you like to go for a walk? We can go into the courtyard."

xxxGrace watched him return to his seat and answer her question. "No reason really," Grace shrugged. "No many people wear them to this place is all. They don't care much about their appearence in this place when they're just coming to talk to the patients. They dress up just enough to make it look like they're not crazies themselves and that's good enough for them," she said with another shrug. After all, it didn't really matter.
At the mention of going for a walk, or rather at the mention of possibly going outside, Grace perked up slightly. Here she wasn't allowed to go outside without supervision because she'd tried to run away the first day she was put here. Since then, none of her previous counselors had trusted her enough to let her outside and had preferred to talk with her inside the institute instead. To be offered a chance to go outside wasn't something that she was about to refuse. Before she came here, she used to love being outside, soaking up the sun, or playing in the rain with friends. "Walking sounds alright," she said after a moment with a nod of her head. She got up from her seat and walked towards the doorway, but paused and waited on James. It wasn't going to do her a lot of good to walk ahead of him, the guard at the door needed to see that James was going to watch her before she was even allowed to step one foot outside.

After she stepped out, James did and closed the door. He didn't deem her the way others did. He yawned and followed her around the courtyard, a small smile on his face. "Do you like the outdoors?"
