You have the right to remain silent...
Brianne Moonsten was this outgoing, bubbly, sweet heart that couldn't say no, never lied, and never did anything like drink or smoke, She was this perfect child that everyone loved, until everything changed. It was December around Christmas and she was trying to talk her best friend out of suicide, Alex Trushel. He had every right to do so though, his father was abusive and his mother didn't give a care, she was always out drinking and having her own fun. His father was quite a wealthy man, but he never wanted a son, so Alex was locked in his room, he never really had any friends either. He tried bringing Brianne over to his house once but as soon as his caught sight of her he said that she couldn't stay because him and Alex were going to go to a baseball game, Alex had a look of hope in his eyes like things may change today, but Brianne already knew Alex was hiding something from her and his father looked quite suspicious , so she ducked into the bushes after walking out to watch this stomach twisting scene play before her, his father was yelling at him, and he was in the corner tucked into a ball, his eyes were wide with fear and foolishness that he believed his father might change a slight hint. Brianne didn't want to see anything else, she got up and ran for her life, she didn't want to take the chance of going to the police, so she ran home and ran up to her room and burst into frantic tears, not much later she received a call from Alex, saying he didn't want to be friends anyone, but Brianne knew something was up, she waited till he hung up and she ran to his favorite place, an old abandoned warehouse. She fearfully went in and explored the place not much later finding a body on the ground but it was to dark to tell who it was, she dug through her pockets finding her iPod she always carried around, before noticing anything else she found a bloody note that she held with her trembling fingers...
Dear finder of this letter,
I could never carry on the way I am living, the terrible words and the bloody violence I somehow survive through, Though I believe it was my amazing friend Bri, who helped me carry through the day, I tried to love her until my dying breath, but as you find my dying breath came quite early, and if you are Bri, then I knew you would figure out my trouble with my father, and yes I love you Bri, I am sorry I can't be there to tell you in person but I want you to continue your life, just as if I was there and this never happened, I love you Bri.
Thanks to whoever saw this, Alex.
Brianne kept re-reading the letter, until she just couldn't believe the words on paper, she walked glumly on home, to where her family was watching one of those dumb cop shows, this really guilty looking man was being told, "You have the right to remain silent..." the words echoed throughout her head, "The right to remain silent..." she never spoke another word, sometimes she might write a note, and have someone read it, but no one heard her voice after that... Until the new kid showed up, he was different right off the bat according to Brianne, he accepted the silence and seemed to enjoy it, while others threw out endless useless chitchat. Brianne communicated through notes with the new boy, maybe she found a new friend who accepts her silence and won't try to change her words.... It's now the first day of Summer break, and the 6th month mark since the death of her dearest friend, who she decided she loved, and the silence is starting to drive herself crazy, or is it the loss of Alex? Will her new friend help her through the silence, or make her burst, after all she has developed feelings for him too...
