I have absolutely no idea how I'm supposed to use my graphing calculator to solve trig function problems.

Like Triangle ABC is a right triangle, Angle C is 90 degrees. Angle A is 58.5 degrees, AB is 45.3 feet. Find AC

^THAT. HOW DOES THAT GO INTO A CALCULATOR?

EDIT: THANKS JIN AND GRESLEY 8'D

You don't need a calculator to figure that out.
You just need a little subtraction and a hell of a lot of dividing.

All I remember on how to solve this is that you need at least two angles to figure out a related side or two sides to find a related angle.
The third angle can be found easily enough, just subtract the sum of Angle C and Angle A to find Angle B. After that is the hell-of-a-lot-of dividing.

DRAW IT OUT, CUZ. B|
Diagrams make it easier to figure out. If they have given lengths, use the Law of Sines if you got to that yet. Can't always rely on calculators for that if you don't know what to use.

Notice that the Law of Sines is all ratios? You can just use any two parts of it to find a length or angle.

Quote me if you need me to explain it more, cuz I set my PMs to private.

Thanks C:

And after a helluva lot of thinking it hit me. neutral

cos 58.5ยบ= AC/45.3
Therefore AC= cos 58.5/45.3

I'm still angry though. neutral

Math in general sucks. Well... basic addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division is sometimes necessary, but most of the rest you usually don't need to learn unless your job requires it. But of course... School is dumb enough to spread the lie that you need math for EVERYTHING.
