ITS FRICKIN HOT IN THIS CLASS

User Image
Savages class is not... its usual self. Instead its like walking in to a hot, brightly orange lit cave. Walking in further you see WHY its so hot and so bright. Theres lava. Lava and LOTS of it.

Who would have thought in Savages class? Savage her self seems pretty comfortable though. The red head teacher is wearing a bikini and is sipping something that looks like ice cold water?

" I would offer you lot some water but you have some other concerns... like passing this exam." Savage chucks the glass and water in to the lava. The water turns in to mist instantaneously and the glass melts.

"Yup." She points to the lava, "Thats your concern right there." She chucks you each a sled made of ice? IN HERE!?

"Those sleds are made of a special sort of ice that can withstand even lava. But be careful. They are still fragile and can't survive this heat for ever. If you fall in the lava you'll burst in to fear and end up back here. I'd say unharmed... but ... I dunno." She smiles. "HAVE FUN!!!!!!"

When the letter arrived, he was pleasantly surprised. Not because of the pride he felt from being acknowledged as ready to attempt to move up a year, but because, to date, he could count the classes he attended on one hand. Along with the crazy waivers he already knew that the Y2's had to sign, this also ranked pretty high on his 'WTF is wrong with this school' list. Seriously!

That wouldn't stop him from going and trying it out; no matter how this ended he'd be getting to second year, which was what he had heard from those who had already moved up.

Then...he saw the room. The Lava room, with Savage in a rather nice bathing suit and--wait, WAIT, wasn't that...ice?! WERE THOSE SLEDS MADE OF ICE?! Okay, Savage wasn't on his favourite teachers list anymore. Seriously, ice sledding on lava? This ghoul was ust....augh.

"You have GOT to be kidding me..." He grumbled, clinging to the sled that had been previously thrown at his head. Apparently he threw the ice sled onto the lava too hard, as it started to hiss and gave a rather unassuring cracking noise.

"Juuuustttt....jackin' awesome."

Mac managed to hop onto the sled with little difficulty, and soon enough began his terrible decent down the trail of lava. He was very unhappily grumbling the entire way, and if you listened closely you could almost hear him streaming off obscenities under his breath. He was doing his best to take up as little space as possible on the ice sled, just in case.

So far, so good.

What. What. What.

Holly knew of the exam thing. She'd never taken one and had heard ... things about them. Why'd she ever sign up? The ghoul had studied the letter and at least she knew which professor was Savage. That was good right? Right?

Or not. The last time she had been in the room there was water and dust bunnies. Now there was lava? What the Jack? Holly sighed and decided to get it over with. She jumped on a ice sled.

Surprisingly she got off to a great start and didn't hit any bumps at all. Would it be this simple? Yeah, she probably just jinxed herself.

Holly glanced over at the other student who had decided to start the exam as well. He hadn't that much luck and she'd winced at the sound of his sled cracking. "Seriously, are all exams like this?" The other students she talked to didn't mention this. Where did this lava even come from, wait, how did the room get this big.

So far so good still, she was making progress down the slope of lava. She had almost hit a bump but was able to steer her ice sled around it. The ghoul whiped the sweat off her brow. This was not very fun at all.

Of course. Just after she was feeling good about this ordeal, that had to happen. It was all going fine and she was amused at another already failing and she just had to hit a spot of trouble.

Holly had been feeling a bit cocky. She'd leaned a bit too much into the sled and had been gaining speed. All of a sudden her ice sled felt like it caught on something and spun her around a few times. The ghost hung on for her life, or really afterlife, and was luckily able to get control back. Thank Jack she didn't flip it over. Note to self, no more going too fast.

Holly released a sigh of relief as she was able to get the sled fully under her control. She would have looked back to see where all the other students were but she wasn't too sure about chancing this. Loosing concentration didn't seem like the best idea. Really didn't want to spin around again. That wasn't fun at all.

She decided to go at a somewhat leisurely pace. No way she was going to try and go to fast but didn't want to go to slow. There would be no fun in it at all if she was to move at a crawl. Could ice sleds on lava even move slow? Probably melt first. At least there was no trouble at the moment.

Mac went around this thing, and around that thing, and just as he started to feel good about this shitty little exam, a massive lava bubble popped up from well below the surface. Giving a bit of a cry, Mac forcefully turned his sled in the other direction, only to bash the corner of it off of a peeking rock.

Err, that second crack was definitely not as reassuring as the first one was.

The last crack really did nothing to save Mac's resolve to pass this. In fact, he was pretty sure that he would fail this anyway. There was at least twice as much track to cover and his board had already cracked twice, now to mention the bottom was getting a little warm and very red. Once thrown off guard it was incredibly difficult to get back on track, so it should have surprised no one, Mac especially, that the tiny pebble of a rock was the one that did him in.

Mostly because he didn't see it coming.

The first crack from the impact was louder than the previous two, the telltale hiss of previously untouched ice being bombarded with the intense heat. He didn't even have a chance to wipe the sweat from his eyes as the sled started to get torn in two down the middle as momentum dragged it along this tiny, insignificant little pebble.

Mac's attempts to avoid it were flailing at best, including trying to leap to his feet on the sled in order to avoid it; oh reflexes, you total assholes! His boots slid on the ice, he lost his balance, and he fell backwards into the burning lava, giving him just enough time to let out cry of pain (or frustration?).

He reformed sometime later on the sidelines, his clothing a little charred.

Finally.

Finally it was happening. The letter was gripped tightly in Sarias hands as she tried to stem the hyperventilation that was threatening to overwhelm her. The exam. Date, time and place, all carefully written on an A5 piece of scroll now baring the brunt of her excitement. It was time.

Time to moved up in the world.

The words of Savage rumbled around the banshees head until they had lost all meaning. Dam right she'll have fun. Have fun right to the finishing line, and leaving these loser to fail! And by the looks of things there was already one who had bit the dust. The Fear recollected beside Sarias in a jumble of mismatched pieces until Mac became fully formed again. Breathing steadily and calmly like he hadn't just melted in a pool of lava. Sarias gave a stifled laugh. Now was not the time to be getting happy over someone else's failings, she could do that later. After she has passed.

Grabbing the Ice sled she placed it carefully onto the lava, her moves soft and sure. This was not the time for mistakes and she couldn't go rushing into this. It had to be done with grace, something these other students seriously lacked. It paid off though.

"s**t" the words "spoke to soon" as Sarias jumped onto the sled was an understatement. As soon as her weight hit the ice it dipped, bobbing into the lava with a horrible squelch, the ice hissing slightly in protest but remaining stable. She hissed right back cursing the spookie she ate this morning. The added calories were not helping her now!

Yet it wasn't over yet, not by a long shot! If anything this small mishap dug at her un-beating heart that little bit harder. She was going to do this, to not give up. Not after everything she had been though to get here!

Obviously the dipping into the lava was more troublesome than she first thought as the sled of ice began to move, but slowly, and more dipped than it should have been, especially compared to the others. The urge to suddenly start floating was overwhelming. If she could float, even just an inch above the ice itself then she would maybe add her journey a little. Sod's bloody law that this happen to be an exam and her Fear ability was null void here. She would have to remember to write a very anonymous letter in complaint when she left her.

Yet now she was starting to panic. All macho bravo aside Sarias didnt really want to melt alive. She was sort of against that, nothing major just, she liked existence without 3rd degree burns. She just hopped the initial dipping hadn't ruined the underbelly of the ice. If it was well...she was screwed.

If it wasn't for Karma maybe Sarias would have stood a chance at this exam. Maybe. But of course the fates had other ideas as the ice beneath her feet went down another inch....and then another. s**t she was sinking! "Uhh! No! Prof! -" she cut herself short. She wasn't about to scream for help. Just like the last time if she was going to die she would be dying on her terms and without weakness being a factor. This...well, this was just unfortunate!

The sled submerged itself into the sea of red hissing flame, spitting with the rage slightly less than what Sarias felt at this very moment. "*$@£%!! UNGOD DAMMIT ALL TO ******** HELL, WHEN I RE SPAWN AM GONN- *glug....glugglug*!" To say Sarias went down fighting was an understatement. She was still pounding the surface of the lava with her fist as her hair set alight and consumed her skull with molten tar. Her flesh dripped off into pieces as the searing pain flowed though her and then vanished. It was mere seconds before she reappeared on the side lines still shouting profanities at the ocean of fire that had consumed her...

Fi-na-leeeee! He'd been waiting for the letter all damn week and finally he found it tacked to his door one morning as he was heading out for his daily run. At long last he'd be able to move up in his schooling, and to say the ghost boil was excited was a bit of an understatement. It hadn't bothered him at first, having everyone close to him taking exams before him, it made sense considering when he'd enrolled, but after a while.. Ya, couldn't handle being "behind" anymore. It just wasn't acceptable.

One quick change of clothing later and the jikininki made his quick way to the Human Study's classroom, eagerly slipping into the room behind the others who were testing with him. That eagerness slipped a bit shortly there after. Was that lava?

Glowing eyes narrowed in on their professor, and he tried to ignore what she wasn't wearing to focus on what their test would be. Sledding, down the lava, on ice.. Ice?! What. The. Jack.

There was a lot of blank staring as he caught the sled that was thrown to him, and he found himself unusually grateful for the fact that his skin ran cold anyways, and wouldn't be contributing to any premature melting. It didn't need any help, the lava, he was sure, would do a fantastic job of it. He didn't just dive in though, no sir. He lingered back and watched in growing unease as one after another of his peers gave it a try, and not a single one yet had passed. It was unnerving watching Mac and Sarias slipping under the burning lava..

No use prolonging the inevitable though. When it was clear, the boil approached the burning river, then attempted to very carefully place the sled onto of it. The very act itself screamed of irony and stupidity. When nothing short of a lava bubble happened the boil climbed aboard himself and pushed off, gliding along the 'track.'

So far so good.
