There are plenty of child block programs, as well as browser settings that let you censor anything adult for your own household. There's no need to censor everybody. What they should really be putting these resources into is stopping cyber crimes, piracy, etc.

I'm in a terrible, terrible situation here in England. UK ISPs are now officially blocking porn (the first to do so include mine). Of course, you can contact your ISP and request for porn sites to be unblocked, but my dad would have to do that, and my parents are VERY anti-porn. We were sitting at the dinner table watching the news when this news came up. I put on my best pokerface as they were like 'It's about time! At last!' After dinner I went to my room and silently raged.

I don't think censoring adult content on the internet is a good idea... it just for lazy adults who don't keep watch on what they're kids do online.

I thought they're trying to get ISPs to censor whatever they want, not just porn.

I'd rather they limit the extent of their power with this a little bit, but if they did I'd be for it. The Internet -should- be a public forum of free expression, but it also shouldn't be so easy to do illegal things on it.

oh no my illegal child snuff bondage rape pornos
I think the whole porn issue is just part of the slippery slope of BEGINNING to give the government power over this stuff. I'm not sure porn is the main target here. That'd maybe come later as a result.
I think the bigger deal is that you'll have to go through shadier avenues to get to the full internet, and a lot of users are stupid, and that just means more people would get their identities stolen or something.

porn is obviously not the reason. but thats where it'll lead if any "perfect" or religious politician comes to power will use the censorship for.
but yeah, besides porn a persons voice on a important subject could even be silenced on the internet because of this more easily, whether it be political or another important global subject the goverment or an ISP could just go STFU NOOB GTFO all at once now.

Can't they put a credit card on all po- oh.
If their kids are looking up porn on the internet at 7 years old they just need to take away that privilege.
