ok. i suck at grammar to begin with, the least i can do is learn proper phrasing, tense and terminology.

So please help me (as a newb) so i dont sound like such a newb later.

If i want to refer to someone's furry form do i refer to it as their furry or their fursona? or does fursona only mean a furry profile/personality?

ex. which is more correct to say:
I have seen your furry before.
i have seen your fursona before.

I would go with the second option, the first one makes little sense.

Fursona is the correct term for someone's character.
Furry is more a descriptive term for the person behind the Fursona.
Or, if you mean furry versus anthro, then it's a different story.

Furry and anthro often explain the same thing, but I personally like to give them distinctions.
Anthro is the fullbody anthropomorphised critter. Like your avatar and mine.
Animal with a human body shape: fur, claws, paws, long tongue, etc.

Furry on the other hand is more like the catgirls you might see.
Completely human body with a few animal features: ears, tail, teeth, eyes, etc.

I don't know if I would really consider that furry. I find that furry and anthro is pretty much the same thing. All though anthro can be used to describe a lot of things.

That's just what I've learned over the years.

But yes, what is supposed to be taken away from this is that you can smack whatever label you want on yourself.

As Shoe said, Odd, there aren't any Furry Police.
No one is gonna should fault you for it.

furry: 1. member of the furry fandom, which features anthropomorphic animals; 2. an animal character with anthropomorphic characteristics

anthropomorphism: the attribution of human form or behavior to an animal

examples:

In simplified terms, anything that mixes human and animal characteristics into a single body can technically be considered anthropomorphic ("anthro" for short) or a "furry."

generally speaking antromorphs are either human or animal with the ability to take on features from the oppisite, eg. human takes animal charateristics or vice versa. furry is a generlized term for anything ranging from a normal animal to a animal human hybrid. fursona is a alternate persona that is from the furry type domain and is more to say one has a animalisic character... animalistc but ussually not wholy animal. overall adressing someone should be mostly normal or using speicies as the discriptive. eg. i saw your (panther) the other day, if you have the fursonas name its better to use that cause it clears up more missunderstandings... the term furry is used more for people not in the animal realm as it were.
