This is a 1x1 roleplay with with SKBCTayuyaFluteofDeath, so try not to post if you are not her or myself...  Hyojin Myers awoke sharply, grimacing as he rolled to his feet as his black hair fell over his dark green eyes. His head felt like it was stuffed with wool, though he noticed the black tee shirt he wore and the dark blue jeans were torn as he stumbled, one hand snapping up to strike a tree. He barely noticed the slap of skin on rough wood as his gaze took in the calf high hiking boots he wore; he knew he had a folding knife hidden in one pocket and his small pouch of throwing knives at the small of his back. "Damn... my head feels like I slammed it into a windshield, which wouldn't really surprise me," he muttered in his rolling Cajun accent.

 Thunk! Thunk! Thunk! Thunk! Four shuriken struck the trunk of a tree in rapid succession, missing their target completely. Hinata Hyuuga, eldest daughter of the head of the main branch of the Hyuuga clan, panted and brought her hands together in front of her face, opening her eyes wide. Byakugan! She looked around, searching for the chakra of the Mist ninja who'd just avoided her attack. She'd become separated from her team, thanks to the Mist ninja's team. Now she was on her own, and not faring too well.

Hyojin's eyes narrowed as a shudder shot down his spine as he noticed a shadow drop from a tree from the corner of his eye. His hand shifted as he dropped into a roll, the kunai striking where his head had just been a second before. "Try this for size, mon ami," he said blandly as his hand flashed out, the three small throwing knives no longer than his middle finger striking the guy in the chest suddenly, two just above the heart and one just to the right. Hyojin paled slightly, realizing the blows were fatal instantly as the guy stumbled, his eyes widening as if surprised. He heard a sizzling behind him and glanced back. Why is that paper burning? he thought, confused. A few seconds later, the explosive tag detonated in a fireball. He threw his arms up, not seeing the wall of stone rise sharply between the detonation and himself.

Hinata heard an explosion from nearby, and she looked in the direction of the sound, seeing the chakra flow of a single person behind a stone wall. The form wasn't one of her teammates. Her momentary distraction gave the Mist ninja she was fighting the perfect opening to drop behind her. "Kyaah!" she cried out in surprise as a kunai was slid beneath the Konoha headband around her neck and pressed against her throat. "Don't move, little girl," the ninja behind her hissed in her ear. "Don't want this to go into that pretty throat of yours."

Hyojin's eyes snapped open at the feminine cry of surprise as his hand sharply snapped out, striking the wall twice before it suddenly detonated into a blast of dust with a loud cracking boom. He didn't think, but moved at high speed, his gaze snapping to spot the guy half hidden behind a girl with what appeared to be dark blue hair. He said only one word as he darted past the guy, his hand flicking open the hidden knife with a whistling pop before its tip slashed across the back of the guy's hand holding the throwing knife. "Coward," he hissed as he materialized just behind the guy with the blade held low and close to the guy's side, pointed inward towards his right lung.

The ninja chuckled darkly, ignoring the slash on his hand, and then there was a copy of him grabbing the newcomer's wrist and wrenching it behind his back. "No, ninja," the Mist ninja sneered, tightening his grip on Hinata. She tried to get free, but he pressed the kunai harder against her throat.

Hyojin grunted, his grip loosening on the hilt of his knife before it dropped as he flicked his leg, letting the toe of his foot swat the hilt and send it between the duplicate's eyes before he spun fluidly, tapping the top of his foot lightly in a roundhouse kick to the back of the guy's head in a simple 'watch it' move, mainly aiming to annoy the ninja. "Actually, I was thinking more of 'idiot'," he said teasingly as he moved a few feet away deliberately.

The duplicate disappeared with a splash. The Mist ninja jerked, nicking Hinata's throat, then he disappeared with her still in his grasp. Five more clones surrounded the young man, each grinning maliciously.

Hyojin didn't know exactly what was going on, but didn't really care at the moment. He closed his eyes suddenly as he felt a frission of tingling energy shoot up his spine; he was used to the sensation, since he sometimes felt it before, but never as strong as he had at that moment. His hand flicked upward, snagging the knife he'd used to destroy the previous duplicate out of the air as he felt an odd sensation he could only describe as expansion He opened his eyes slowly, seeing everything in shades of blue and pale lavender, almost as if flames were wreathing everything. He was unaware he was seeing the usually invisible auras of everything around him as the blade of the knife glowed a pale blue, seemingly extending into the blade of a tanto. Time seemed to move like gelatin to him as he moved, yet he moved with more speed than usual as the aura blade sheared through the chest of one duplicate before decapitating a second. He drove a palm heel into the third as he snapped a hooking Gaucho kick into the side of the fourth's head, not noticing that the third duplicate flew backwards before simply exploding as if a bomb had hit him. He saw what seemed to be a tree rising up to engulf the last one, though somehow he knew it was only real to the clone. Illusion, he thought as he saw the black haired woman slit the duplicate's throat. She paused when water fell rather than blood. He shivered as he felt the odd sensation spread before fading away. The knife reverted to normal as it dropped to the grass before he dropped to one knee, unaware there was a crimson stain on the back of his left shoulder blade from where the Kiri-nin had missed him with the kunai.(Do you want to act as Kurenai or should I? I should warn you I'm not that good at her character...)

((I can play her. Not sure how good I'll be, but I can try.))  Kurenai Yuhi turned to the young man, still holding her kunai ready to attack if he made any sudden moves. "Where is my student?" she asked.

Hyojin grimaced. "No idea... that guy vanished with her... but I'm gonna take that blade of his and shove it where the sun don't shine," he said weakly. His hand picked up the knife slowly and flicked it, closing the sides of the handle around the blade. "Another one of those.... ninja went after me over there... I didn't intend to kill the guy, but I ended up severing his aorta and superior vena cava and probably put one through his lung to boot, though the other two would have been fatal anyway," he said softly, suspecting the woman would notice he had never killed anyone before. I don't know how that guy vanished, but I think I can track him, he thought. He took a deep breath, feeling the energy return. He closed his eyes, concentrating. He went... northeast, if directions are the same here, he thought. He didn't realize a slight aura of bluish energy wreathed his entire body as he shifted into a squatting position. Oddly, to him, the faint traces of the stranger's travel were a slightly darker blue than normal; fortunately it was traceable. "I don't know how... but I think he headed northeast," he said softly, opening his eyes. He didn't know that his dark green eyes were a pale bluish teal at the moment.

Kurenai nodded approvingly. She watched him, noting the change in his eye color. "That's an interesting jutsu. Similar to the Byakugan," she said. "Northeast, you said? Come with me if you want to find her. Show me the the way to go."

Hyojin shrugged one shoulder, rising to his feet. He grimaced, a hiss of pain escaping his clenched teeth. "Seems like I didn't roll fast enough to evade that bombed knife," he muttered. He turned slightly, seeing the bluish flames rising in waves as he concentrated his attention outward. "I have no idea what a 'jutsu' is, but regardless... ah, screw it... let's just get her back, then we can talk after I shove that bakayaro's head up his a**," he said to Kurenai. She is attractive, though what the heck this 'Byakugan' she referred to is, I have no clue, he thought. He visualized a flame in his mind, feeding every emotion and thought into it until he floated in a bubble of emptiness in his mind. THe Void allowed a sensory talent to surface that seemed as if the user, in this case... him, felt as if he was part of his surroundings to the point of noticing tiny details with extreme clarity. His eyes narrowed, the glow becoming more blue than teal as he took a couple of steps forward, hesitant at first. "Would it worry you offhandedly if I said I have no real idea what I'm doing?" he said to the woman.

"Not offhand, it doesn't." Kurenai shifted her grip on the kunai in her hand. "But you'd better get your act together quickly. If we don't find her before something happens, I'm taking it out of your hide."
