QUESTLINE: Planting the trees As you walk around the reservation, you notice a few former War clan members squabbling amongst themselves. They seem to have dug several rather large, impressive holes.
"Did you bring any seeds?" The female clansmember seems extremely agitated, literally harping on the male. He in return, says nothing. "We need seeds of strong saplings, nothing else will support our huts."
She suddenly spots you. "'You there! Come here." She points the ground, where a few small seeds are buried." I need you to go to the Weeping Forest and find tree seeds exactly like these ones. We need to grow the strongest trees."
Before you can argue she points you in the direction of the Weeping Forest. Oh well, better get startedOOC - Roll a 100-sided dice and match your dice roll to the results below. Keep on rolling until you obtain at least 2 perfect seeds. You have completed the RP once you have fulfilled this requirement. - 1-20: The tree you manage to find and scale is weak and sickly. It does not seem like it will be suitable - 21 - 40: You find a particularly large tree, and rather nasty too, as it swings its branches, nearly disemboweling you on the spot. You manage to snag one seed from its branches before you have to flee away from it. +1 seed- 41 - 60: The tree seems to be very promising, but it seems to only be budding at the very very top. The branches are too dense to fly, so you take the dangerous trek of climbing up, but can only reach one seed before you fall back down. +1 seed-61 - 80: You look around, trying to find your way... you could have sworn you took this path before. You feel a little lost.... - 81 - 100: You see a suitable tree, but before you can grab at it, a minipet runs away with your find. Maybe you should find that minipet and skin it...

The War clanswoman had said she only wanted the strongest seeds. Pich saw many trees with appropriate seeds, but all seemed rather small, or even sickly. Even the larger ones, who had managed to grow taller faster than their neighbors and so had the majority of the energy-giving sunlight, just didn't seem quite right to him. There had to be better trees than this in the forest, he could have sworn he'd seen some when he had explored earlier while gathering.
After walking for quite a long time, Pich found a truly impressive tree. It was larger than any he had seen so far. Stepping closer, he also discovered that it was meaner, as it took a swipe at him that nearly lost him his innards. Dancing back, he pondered. There was no way to get to the base of the tree, yet alone climb it to obtain a seed. Perhaps he could make the seeds come to him? He looked for an area where there were a lot of branches with seeds, and slowly approached. When he was within the tree's reach, it swung at him with a stout, seed-laden branch. It worked! He tried to grab a seed from the branch as he dodged, but all he managed was a few leaves and a splinter. He carefully pulled the splinter out, then considered again. Trying to grab something so small off a fast moving branch while it tried to injure him was not working so well. Perhaps he could knock one lose and then retrieve it once the branch had passed? He grabbed a thick branch from the ground out of reach of the tree, then moved in for another attempt. This time when the branch swung at him, he hit it with his own branch while dancing out of the way. No splinters this way, a definite plus! But had it worked? He studied the ground where a seed might have fallen, and indeed there one was! Within the reach of the tree. Pich inched as close as he dared and used his stick to try to pull the seed closer. While he had it extended, the tree lashed out, knocking it out of his and and well out of reach. The seed was closer, he could almost reach it! But his stick was gone, and he did not see another nearby. That vine, however... perhaps he could make a loop to drag the seed to where he could safely reach it? It would also be harder for the tree to knock free. Decision made, he grabbed a length of vine that put up only a minimal fight, and tied one end into a loop. Spinning it, he tossed it out and over the seed. He slowly pulled it towards himself, but even so the seed had only moved about half the distance he needed it to when the vine rolled over the top of it, losing it's purchase. The tree was trying to swing at it, but could not effectively hit the makeshift rope while it was on the ground, and he timed his throw for when the branch had just passed. He threw it out again, patiently pulling the seed closer until he could reach it without risk to life and limb. With a sigh of relief, he carefully placed the seed in his bag and gave the tree one last look. Perhaps he would look elsewhere for more seeds...

Deeper in the forest, Pich found another suitable tree. In addition to being large and sturdy looking, it was not even trying to kill him. Definitely a big bonus in his opinion. However, being less defended meant it was much more picked over; he only saw one seed that looked usable. Just as he was reaching for it, smiling at his good fortune, a small blur of brown and gold streaked in front of him, and the seed was gone.
He looked in bemusement at the empty branch where the seed had been, then to the rustling bit of bush where the small creature had disappeared with it. Crouching down near the bush, he saw a small, brown minipet that looked like it would be rather fluffy, if it weren't so scraggly. It reminded him of the little Vaisel that he had seen on his native isle, could it be a survivor like him? If so, it seemed to be having trouble adapting to this new land. It had cuts and scrapes all over, and was rather thin. Taking a piece of meat - better not to ask from what - that was meant to be part of his lunch out of his bag, he offered it to the small creature. It growled at him warningly, but he could tell by its distraction that it was interested in the meat. The little scavenger had already eaten the seed, but that could not have been very filling. He set the meat down, removing his hand but not moving away. With a blur of movement, it ate the offered food, returning to its former position but with less hostility. He tore off another piece and reached to place it where the first had been, but this time the hungry Vaisel did not wait for him to let go, taking the offering right from his fingers. Along with a tiny bit of finger - ouch! Pich fought to stay silent so as not to scare the little pet off, hoping it would not be acquiring a taste for his blood. He offered more pieces, careful to hold them such that he didn't lose any more skin. Eventually the Vaisel seemed to be full, its small belly bulging humorously. He hesitantly reached for it, and when it did not make any hostile moves, he stroked it gently. It purred softly, and he smiled. "Can I keep you then? I promise to feed you well, what little I have I will share with you." He carefully picked up the malnourished creature, tucking it into the crook of his arm rather than trusting it to his bag. It churred, and he churred back. Perhaps this little one really was from his home isle, and so did not fear his aura of death as most minipets seemed to. Whatever the reason, he was grateful. "I will call you P'theh, for you are a piece of home." With that, he resumed his search. He fealt he should gather at least one more seed before returning to the War clanswoman, though all he wanted was to take his new pet somewhere quiet where he could continue bonding with it.

After much searching, Pich spyed something he remembered. Hard to forget the tree that had tried so hard to kill him! Perhaps his best bet was to win another seed from it after all. It would have saved him a lot of time if he had done so from the onset, though he would not have met P'theh then, so he did not really mind. Trotting back a short distance, he retrieved a sturdy stick he had passed. Setting the drowsing P'theh on top of his bag, at a safe distance from the tree, he took a deep breath before wading back into the fray. He managed to knock lose another seed after a couple of tries, and using the same vine from earlier eased it to where he could retrieve it. Content with his haul, and that these seeds would grow some very strong trees indeed for the War clan, Pich tucked P'theh safely into the crook of his arm again and made his way back to the reserve. If these were the types of trees the War clan wanted to live in, maybe he would steer clear of their area once they got more settled in...
