Name: Griselda ("grey maiden warrior") Nicknames: Zelda (which she greatly prefers) Gender: Female Age: ~16
Original Clan: War
Job Role: Warrior
Personality: Know how there's seven stages of grief? Zelda is pretty much trapped in one -- anger.
She's angry at the hunters for destroying her home world. She's angry at her fellow Clansmen for being weak enough to die. She's angry at the Halloweeners for surviving -- and she's really angry that their answer is to smash all of the clans together on a reserve like endangered animals. Needless to say, integration is not her favorite thing.
Don't take that to mean she's emo, though. The one thing that pisses Zelda off more than anything is useless emotion. People sitting around, bemoaning their fate and being bitter or mopey? She'll slap them and tell them to get over it. You don't like something? Get over it. Either figure out a solution, or stop whining.
Not is she particularly antagonistic or nasty. She's not going to go out of her way to start a fight with someone, and she's not mean-spirited. She's just very honest, very blunt and holds herself and others to a high standard. Once you earn her respect, she'll be loyal to you forever. In regular interactions, she tends to be aloof, witty and earnest: she usually has an insightful and amusing comment about the situation at hand. She relies more heavily on observation than empathy and tends to react to people's actions rather than their motivations, leaving her pretty much oblivious to a wide range of emotional interactions.
Overall, she's gifted with a strange -- almost manic -- optimism. She approaches every problem with the same level of problem-solving determination: what can I do right now to make this better? She knows better than to think she can solve the world's problems, but she'll be damned if she doesn't try her best, whether that be gathering materials to rebuild their homes or training for the inevitable rematch against the hunters.
Her tendency to be both blunt and logical makes her an invaluable friend -- to the people who can stomach it. She won't sugarcoat anything, and you'd better know in advance not to ask her for advice unless you're completely convinced you want to hear it.
Zelda trusts her senses and gut above all else, and tends to think quickly on her feet. While this is a necessary skill in battle, it sometimes leads to her making snap judgments about people/situations in her daily life, and these judgments aren't always flattering -- or even accurate. First impressions are pretty much key for her, and once you've blown that, she might never change her opinion of you.
She comes across as being both aloof and self-confident, and she doesn't go out of her way to make friends, preferring to allow people to drift in and our of her life. Deep down, though, she's actually very insecure -- and a little lonely. Anybody who manages to break through her intimidating wall of defense mechanisms and become a genuine friend...can probably expect a surprisingly clingy, totally devoted friend for life. But she won't make it easy for you to get there.

What's in a Name? Although her proper name is Griselda, it's really in your best interests to call her Zelda. She secretly despises her full name and actually halfway hoped that it would fall out of use entirely when nearly everyone she knows was killed. Unfortunately, the name seems to have followed her around, and certain clansmen insist on being "proper" and continuing to call her by her full name. This is one of the quickest ways to get off on the wrong foot with her.
Choice of Weapon Like most warriors, Griselda is skilled with a number of weapons. But she's fondest of her simple dagger. She likes the intimacy of fighting with it -- being up close and personal in battle is her preferred style. She doesn't mind getting her hands dirty; in fact, that's how she likes it. She thinks anybody who fights using trickery, magic, poison, or other indirect methods is a coward.
Work Hard, Play Hard Because of her optimistic outlook on life, Zelda likes to have fun whenever she can. Despite her reservations about the new living arrangement in Halloween, she has to admit that there are a few amenities here that sure trump what was available back on the island. A maul? A scarecade? Skellyphones? If it's there, there's no reason not to use it!
Opinion of Halloweeners She's got some pretty hefty resentment that they've survived relatively unscathed, and she's apt to be doubly judgmental of any student -- having a "What can possibly be so bad about your life" kind of attitude. That said, she's also very curious about them...and at the end of the day, she recognizes that they're all ultimately on the same side.
Opinion of Huners Does pure, unadulterated, murderous rage count as an "opinion"?
Opinion of Other Clansmen War - Her homies! She'll always regard them with a bit of favoritism Death - Her second favorite, although all of the religious stuff flies over her head Famine - Some are a little too wacky for her tastes, but she doesn't mind them overmuch Conquest - Some seem untrustworthy; why else do they act so damn proper if they're not hiding something?
A few extra notes -- She has a deep-seated and overzealous affection for things that are cute and fluffy, and her definition of "cute and fluffy" is pretty damn wide. Cats and cat-like creatures are her favorite, though.
-- Romance is pretty much a non-issue for her. Deep down, she does secretly ache for that kind of companionship, but she certainly won't go looking for it and she's immediately distrustful of anyone who offers it. Also, she probably prefers ghouls, but only time will tell.
