DISTORTED WORLD OF TRANCE: When We Were Young

Prompt: You wake up. The first thing you hear is the cries of battle: the sound of weapons clashing, the flash of armour, bloodstains everywhere, screams, everything feels sharp, painful. You quickly grab whatever you can find: a discarded shield, a sword. For some reason, you can't use your Fear or summon your weapon, you will have to do with what you get.

All players: You will need to navigate through the battlefield.
- All players may notice something odd: you look like a very specific kind of creature, dressed in archaic robes. Bits and pieces of you are covered in strangely glowing armour. ((OOC: You are a traditional monster from Greek mythology, it is up to you which kind ie: Gorgon, Harpy, Cerberos, Hydra, etcetc, just keep your form humanoid). Even if you are a Hunter you end up as a greek monster.
- A flash of noise, light, as a Human clad in simple armour suddenly runs towards you, weapon flashing to try and slice your throat. You move immediately, disarming them as much as you can. Around you, in front of you, more Humans: they greatly overwhelm what you are realizing to be your kind, the monsters. You need to get out of here immediately before you go down with everyone else.
- If you GET DIE you immediately are ejected from the Distorted Portal but even as you close your eyes, you continue to see and hear the battlefield. Your Fear is also at 50%/ Fear shield at 50% for the next 24 IC hours.
- It is recommended that players go through the shifts at the same pace (ie: I am player 1, in shift1, I roll 3 times and wait for the others before ICly proceeding to shift 2 together, though they can skip players that become inactive after 24 hours).
- If your HP hits 0 you are ejected from battle/ YOU ARE DEAD/ you wake up from the Trance.

gaia_crown Step 1: Shift 1

The humans around you are overwhelming: you need to dispatch them as fast as possible. Several attack your arms, legs, others are at your exposed back. Finding higher ground may also benefit you.

- Roll 1d10. You must do this three times.
- If in ANY of your dice rolls you roll 1: the last thing you see is the cry of a Human warrior as their blade flashes. YOU ARE DEAD.
- For each time you roll even you gain -20% of your total HP. You feel wearier...
- If you pass, proceed to STEP 2.

gaia_crown STEP 2: Shift 2

Most of the smaller humans have thinned out, but now there are ones riding horses. They try to surround you, their weapons threatening.

- Roll 1d6. You must do this three times.
- For each time you roll even you -20% of your total HP.
-If any of your dice rolls to a 1. You hear a loud whinny, the cry of a Human riding on a horse as they near you, you feel something ramming into your back, as their blade flashes. YOU ARE DEAD.
- If you manage to make it through, you are on Step 3.

gaia_crown Step 3: Shift 3. Just when you thought the path was clear, you notice a Human that looks a little different from everyone else. He is riding a winged stallion, a glowing blade in his hands. For a second, you are confused, he looks similar to one of you - why is he attacking with the Humans?

Roll 1d6. You need to fight this boss. He is extremely formidable, and fends off all your attacks and charges. He is almost impossible to attack.
- If you roll three evens, the strange Human ends you quickly. You dissipate and the last thing you see is their triumphant eyes... YOU ARE DEAD.
- If you manage to pass through this phase you are at the end.

gaia_crown Step 4: THE END.
- Someone is shouting, yelling at you. "The greater gods are coming!" As you look up, you suddenly see a figure in the sky - and then more of them as they take over the battlefield. For a second it feels like you are saved -

- When you hear more shouts from behind you, ones of terror from your kind. Someone screams - you hear the word Titans, and then the ground practically folds up from your feet, swallowing you whole.

- You WAKE UP FROM TRANCE

TK, as observant as he could be, could also sometimes become distracted. As he wandered through Amityville’s halls, he held a book in his arms. He tried to stay attentive by flicking his gaze up every so often, but for the most part his attention was consumed by the contents of the book. As an outsider to the town, the book detailed the town’s history. He hummed softly when he encountered a particularly interesting part just before he slowly turned the page. The footsteps around him began to recede as other students entered their classrooms while TK had a free period.

He continued to walk normally even as he found himself surrounded by silence. It was the bright light that caught his attention. As he looked into the glowing portal, his lips parted slightly and he dropped the book as the light grew brighter. TK squeezed his eyes shut and held a hand up to shield his face.

Once the light faded, he cracked open one eye to find himself no longer in Amityville.

Actually, he wasn’t even in his own Jackdamn clothes anymore. He found his jacket and pants were replaced by bits of armor over old robes. His usual skeleton skin weren’t quite there either. TK tried to stare at his reflection in his armor. Taraxippus? He took another moment to curiously stare down at himself and his attire.

Madeline wasn't the most observant. Unless something was staring at her, creeping on her, or otherwise rushing at with the intent to kill, she could care less what was around her immediate vicinity. The only other cause of interest would be that of a less savory manner, but since no drooling hounds were crawling around corners today, she opted not to give any particular interest to her surroundings. Which was not particularly a good thing in this situation. She curled her fingers around her cellphone, slipping it back into the denim of her skinny jeans. Since she'd gotten off of the training fields early today, her clothing wasn't entirely battle-appropriate anymore.

She didn't even realize she was walking towards a strange light until she was too far gone into the portal to make a noise, a scream. Her lips parted, but underneath her the ground seemed to cave, disappear. And then everything went black.

When she opened her eyes again, the immediate sensation was dirt and sweat against her back. There was a strange taste in the air, like the aftermath of battle, or the kicked up dust and fresh steel of a new one beginning. She rolled onto her side and coughed, peeling back a strip of auburn hair with one hand - wait. Madeline jerked her hand back and stared at it in fascination. Where her normal fingers once were claws now stood out, razor-tipped and bright gold. And then something hissed by her ear.

"AaAAH!"

The snakes looked mildly bemused by her reaction, hissing and nipping lightly at her face. She had snakes for hair. Madeline leapt to her feet with a strange grace that she hadn't really had before. "I have snakes for hair!" She screamed - and then that little voice in her head flickered on and said, by the way, theres someone trying to kill you right now. She whipped around and just barely missed the tip of a blade. Her reaction was simple and automatic; a quick jab here and there, a disarming of that hideously outdated weapon. She stumbled back then, realizing that she was on a battlefield - and no one here was a hunter, not even herself.

"You've got to be kidding me," She moaned, stumbling backwards and dodging another wayward blade. Her back hit something hard, and she whipped around to see a Taraxippus staring down at himself in mild awe.

"Hey!" She snapped, waving her arms at him. "Narcissus, stop fooling around! You can't ogle yourself all day long with a battle going on behind you!"

A voice brought him back to reality—at least, his current reality. TK looked toward the ghoul who had presumably snapped at him. He cocked his head slightly as he stared at the writhing snakes for hair. A gorgon. “My apologies,” he started, “it seems I am a little out of my time.” He raised an eyebrow at the weapons in his arms. “Very much so,” he murmured as an afterthought.

There was a glint of metal in the corner of his eyes and he immediately raised his shield. Metal clashed against metal as the human attempted to push his sword down even further. The student clenched his teeth, but managed to push back and swung his sword at the human soldier before the mortal could sneak in another chance. TK watched him fall to the ground and he moved forward to dodge another attack from a different enemy. He constantly lifted his shield to deflect oncoming attacks while he weaved through the battlefield. All he saw was Greek creatures and humans in combat, slaughtering each other. He narrowed his eyes. Who or what had taken him to this strange place?

His shoulders grew sluggish. Fighting was not his forte. He was just a first year, after all.

Madeline blinked owlishly at the boy, leaning back when he cocked his head. She tapped her golden claws against her skin, pleasantly surprised by the iridescent scales that stretched up her forearms. She couldn't exactly say that she understood what was going on here, but she wasn't about to question it in light of the fact that no matter what body she was currently inhabiting, there was a goddamned war going on around them. "Seems that way." She quipped. "Come on, lover boy, lets not sit around and get ourselves killed - "

The shine of metal made her snakes hiss and snap, and Madeline jumped back as TK moved to defend himself. Everything here resembled something out of Greek mythology, and Madeline considered herself fascinated for a moment before a curling growl came from her left. "Oh," She turned her head, staring at the charging minotaur coming straight towards her. "Oh ******** me."

So this was what Arsen must have looked like back before he'd become a weapon.

Hot damn.

Madeline screeched and brought her weapon up to deflect, unused to using the great sword that was suddenly in her hands. What had happened to Arsen? She wanted her stupid club back! But then again, this was just another challenge, wasn't it? She was a Sun. They trained with different weapons every day. Madeline scowled, disarming the minotaur and slicing a neat line into his belly. Another roar of sound came from her left, and the girl barely made it in time to deflect another clumsy, sharp blow.

"Well this is exciting." She joked at TK, her lips curling into a carnivorous grin as the creature slid to the side and crashed into the ground.

Leave it to a sun hunter to get high off of the thrill of battle.

TK frowned. “I am afraid the term ‘lover boy’ is a misnomer, unless you are referring to how Narcissus fell in love with himse—“ He stopped suddenly as he realized. Boy. The proper term should have been boil. Yellow-green eyes narrowed at the gorgon as Xiu’s explanation of hunters came rushing back to him. “Are you not from these parts?” he wondered aloud, but the student was pretty sure his soft voice failed to carry over the ringing screams of battle.

He gasped suddenly as he felt metal slicing right through him, but the blow lacked the distinct sting of pain. TK silently stared at his hands as it flickered in and out. Taraxippus was supposed to be a ghost after all, so he supposed it made sense. He tried to focus, solidify his body once more so he firmly grip his sword and shield. It was odd to have both of them in his grasp as extensions of his body. TK would have preferred to swipe them all down in his natural form, but he wasn’t exactly a giant skeleton, now was he?

The student tried not to groan as his bones ached. He was not interested in fighting, only returning to school.

Madeline rolled her eyes at TK. "Honestly." Boys.

She weighed the thick great sword in her palm, mildly mesmerized by the way it gleamed in her hands. It was heavy, but not half as heavy as Arsen and not half as hard to wield. No one really assumed that there was anything more to using a spiked club than swinging. They were wrong. "We're in the middle of a battlefield full of bloodthirsty bastards and you want to know if I'm from these parts?" Her lips quirked. "I speak latin and some greek, so I'd say I fit in here pretty well."

There was the deafening sound of metal through air, and Madeline shuffled back just as a bright axe embedded itself in the spot where she'd just been. "Are you from these parts?" She retorted incredulously in between the sounds of battle all around. Turning, she drove the sword into the gut of a rushing monster, biting back a bit of a yelp when the weight of it sank fully against her before dropping to the side.

This was getting repetitive, and fast.

He was a curious skeleton, not a fighting skeleton. Then again, right now TK was a ghost, which wasn’t too different. Skeletons and ghosts were both dead in a way.

TK tried to shrug, but the heavy armor made the task rather difficult. “I am a curious boil,” he admitted before he clashed swords with another human. He narrowed his eyes slightly before he managed to kick him in the knees and drive him away. While he tried to take a second to catch his breath, he was forced to raise his head or face an axe embedded right into his neck.

“Do I look like I am?” he answered vaguely.

Madeline just smiled benignly at TK, the way someone might smile at a kid in a room full of grown-ups. She shrugged off a severed limb that had landed on her shoulder and waggled her fingers at him. "Of course not, but I ask because I am a curious little wench." She twirled around in her showy, revealing outfit. Armor fitted her shoulders and arms loosely, but there was little actual clothing on her well-muscled form.

Everything about her screamed poisonous and wretched.

She may not have been drunk, but the tension in the air was getting to her fast, and it wasn't such a bad thing to drown ones sorrows in bloodshed.

So she left him.

Like that, she just disappeared. She could have been fighting for minutes, or hours, but even when the sword went in, cutting savagely through tendon and muscle, there wasn't a way to stop. She severed heads until the black in her eyes consumed her whole, dropping her to the battle ground where sand and dirt and blood coated the skin that might have once been considered pretty.

TK stared at Madeline as she disappeared into the ground. He eyed her spot for a moment before he jumped out of the way of a horse. The student picked himself up.

He really didn’t know how to fight humans on horses, so he just jumped out of the way again.
