just a weird little bit of humor i started upon noticing tendencies i have after being in graphic design for so long. these are much in the same vein as Jeff Foxworthy's "You might be a redneck if..." if anybody reads my journal you'll have already found these.
anybody else find themselves guilty of the same traits or have your own to share?
1. if you take your corrective eyewear off and say you see the world in a gaussian blur of *insert # here*, you might be a graphic designer...
2. if you're more in awe of the papers used rather than the art itself in your new artbook, you might be a graphic designer.
3. if you look at the splotches of mud on your boots and think what a great grunge-style brush they'd make, you might be a graphic designer.
4. if you have dreams about writing style sheet coding, you might be a graphic designer.
5. if your parents/family/friends alert you to design errors and bad designs in newspapers and make a point to show you, you might be a graphic designer.
6. if you actually recognize fonts used in commercials, printed media, on signs, etc... by name, you might be a graphic designer.
7. if you think of your personality in terms of what font you're most like, you might be a graphic designer. (on a good day i'm Zapfino, any other day i'm just Impact...)
From phoenixfireball: 8. You look at a Logo and say "I could do that", or "That is not a very effective logo because..."
9. You have over 20 screencaps of website designs you are in awe of.
10. You check cssvault, stylegala, and cssbeauty every day.
11. You have an entry in CSSZenGarden (i dont...but I have made one...just never submitted it)
From Raine Dragon: 12. you wast vast amounts of digital film trying to get pictures to make textures or backgrounds
13. you are late for classes because you didn't want to stop in the middle of a piece.
14. you here "yeah, I've been looking for someone who knows how to make a website...." and you jumpt to give help
15. you hear a teacher at a school you used to attend is looking for web design help and you offer to do it... for free after she tries to pay you..
more to come...

I am guilty of number six.
Fonts I used to love and now hate because I recognize them everywhere: Comic Sans Impact
stupid, overused fonts!! I'll randomly freak out at people's clothing or at ads and scream "Impact! Impact!"

I'll randomly freak out at people's clothing or at ads and scream "Impact! Impact!" Ah, that's me, too. My little sister's school puts Comic Sans on almost every paper they send home... I don't know, they think it looks like child's writing, maybe? Yes... send home the idea that the children are running the school and/or the teachers have no clue what they're doing. stressed

I was reading a book authored by a Native American about their lifestyle, and it figures... guess what the title's font was on the front cover???? Papyrus!! Some designers just can't hunt out an original font for themselves... that's like using the grass tool in photoshop to actually draw all your grass! stressed
