Jake crossed his arms as he stared at the portal in front of him. They were asked to investigate stuff like THIS? Seemed kinda... dumb.
Yes, he remembered. No, he didn't need a reminder.
Pulling out his phone, he checked the time. 5 minutes had passed.
"I swear, if they're not here in the next minute, I'm going on without them." <... are you stupid? Trying to get yourself killed some more?>
He groaned. Just his luck. Why the hell did you have to do missions in partners/groups? So stupid. Such a waste of time.
Chester's request was met with a scoff.
"Whatever."
DISTORTED WORLD OF TRANCE: Another World Another Time
Prompt: You wake up. The first thing to notice is that anything you were holding, even if it was a hunter weapon or even just a rock, is gone and was replaced with a single, thin, stick-like object. Not only that, but your clothing is different and you FEEL a bit different. You also are now in a dark corridor made of stone and lit by torches.
All players: You will need to navigate through the tasks. - All players may notice something odd: Suddenly all players look like humans. All different shapes and sizes of humans, but humans none the less. Normal for hunters but ODD for students/horsemen being as all their non-human like attributes are suddenly gone. You also notice that you are wearing different clothing. A simple black cloak with nothing on it, really. Under was simple as well. For girls, pleated skirts and simple shirts. Boys... pants and a shirt. Very dull, really. The only thing sticking out color wise was they were all suddenly wearing one of four different colored striped scarfs. Either red and gold, green and silver, blue and bronze, or yellow and black. If you don't get it yet, lets end this section with a famous quote. "Yer' a Wizard, 'Arry." - Suddenly down one of the corridors you hear the sound of something approaching. Something FAST. You feel a fear within your gut, you do not want to be caught. There is no options, you have a single door in front of you or a dead end. For some reason the wand in your palm feels slightly warm to the touch now, as if it was almost trying to tell you something. Somehow the door opens, and you dart within. - If you GET CAUGHT you immediately are ejected from the Distorted Portal but even as you close your eyes, you continue to feel the odd clothing and hear the feet approaching ever closer. Your Fear is also at 50%/ Fear shield at 50% for the next 24 IC hours. - It is recommended that players go through the shifts at the same pace (ie: I am player 1, in shift1, I roll 3 times and wait for the others before ICly proceeding to shift 2 together, though they can skip players that become inactive after 24 hours). - If your HP hits 0 you are ejected from battle/ YOU ARE DEAD/ you wake up from the Trance.
gaia_crownStep 1: Stage 1
As you enter the room, the door SNAPS behind the last person with a loud bang. At the noise you are immediately greeted with a low growling noise on the other side of the large room in the darkest part. Congrats, you have now pissed off a 20 foot tall three headed cerberus. The only way out seems to be a trap door in the floor behind the giant beast, being as the door that just closed on you will not open. It also seems your wands wont do anything, though you feel oddly attached to the object in your hand for some reason.
- Roll 1d10. You must do this three times. - If in ANY of your dice rolls you roll 1: the last thing you see is a flash of fangs. YOU ARE DEAD. - For each time you roll even you gain -20% of your total HP. You feel wearier... - If you pass, proceed to STEP 2.
gaia_crownSTEP 2: Stage 2
You seem to have managed to make it past the giant guard dog, maybe a little more ragged and clawed up... but at least your alive. This time though you are met with something even more strange, a giant chess board. Only the pieces look ALIVE for some reason on the board? As you approach, you find that the pawns look back at you for a moment before walking off the board. One pawn for each player present still. It is assumed you take their place.
The other color on the chess board wont let you pass... unless you win.
- Roll 1d6. You must do this three times. - For each time you roll even you -20% of your total HP. -If any of your dice rolls to a 1. You hear a rumbling noise as one of the enemy pieces comes right at you and destroys you somehow. YOU ARE DEAD. - If you manage to make it through, you are on Step 3.
gaia_crownStep 3: Stage 3. Finally, after the chess game from hell, you have a FEELING that this final room might be the last one. Upon entering flames shoot up from both the door you just entered from, and the exit door on the other side of the small room. In the center of the room you see six vials, none that look the same. Some are tall while others short, some rounded while others square. They are different colors, and yet oddly they all smell the exact same.
The only clue in front is written on a piece of paper, it saying:
" Three will bring victory, while three bring tragedy. Which do you choose, for the odds are equal in all views. You may select only one, choose correctly and you are done! Select the wrong vial though, and all your sorrows will end and only leave woe. "
Roll 1d6. - If you roll even, You chose the wrong vial, something tragic and gruesome happens to your character from the poison within the container. YOU ARE DEAD. - If you manage to pass through this phase you are at the end.
gaia_crownStep 4: THE END. - You make it in to the final room, expecting it to be something leading outside perhaps?
- Only in your last few moments you hear a deep rasp voice mumbling some words, followed by a sudden green light flashing at everyone in the room. You have died.
- You WAKE UP FROM TRANCE

It was as if Jake forgot how difficult things could be to navigate. He did know they weren't magic, right? They couldn't just teleport...well, not on their own, anyway. Sherry would of rolled her eyes if she knew how impatient he was being.
But she didn't.
"Oh, good. You found one," she grinned when she caught site of the death trainee. "Nice work."
It seemed like their "investigate strange portal activity" was off to a good start.

Tori was actually a little excited to find out more about this portals that were being talked about. But of course in her excitement she had gotten a little directionally challenged and had gotten herself a little lost.
After a back tracking a little Tori did manage to find her way and saw that both Sherry and Jake waiting for her and was going to say sorry but Aklin had prevented his hunter from doing so as it wasn't the end of the world to wait a little time. "Very nice you found one and very good work too!" Tori said as she took out her note book and jotted down a few notes on how the portal looked.
"Let get this investigation under way," the lifer said as she thought where this rabbit hole was going to take them.

"It's about time." he huffed, and stepped through the portal without waiting for either of them.
When he opened his eyes, he realized he was holding... something. ...Odd, he hadn't summoned Chester, so what was he-
Before catching sight of what he was holding, he caught sight of what he was wearing. What. the. hell.
A hand tugged at the plain black robe, ignoring the green and silver scarf wrapped around his neck. Where the heck did his coat go? Where did his CLOTHES go? And he was holding... a stick.
Brillaint.

Sherry smiled at Tori, but rolled her eyes at Jake. "He's such a jerk sometimes." She sighed. "Well, shall then?"
Giving Tori another grin, Sherry stepped into the portal, too.
She didn't remember falling asleep. But she must have, since she was waking up now. "Oh, crap. What happened?" There had been a portal, they'd gone through it, and now they were...Sherry had no idea. Torches? A stone corridor? What?
She also had no idea why she was holding a stick. A rather pretty stick, made of some sort of dark, polished wood, but totally strange. And her clothes. What on earth was she wearing? A dark robe? The scarf around her neck reminded her of a bumble-bee.
Just what was going on here?
"Uh...guys? Where are we?"

Tori chuckled a little at Sherry's comment. "Well its better than all the time tho," she replied and she didn't care if she had been late as one really could get lost in this place if not really careful, maybe Tori might tell Jake about the sewers and what lives down there. "Yep, lets go,"
Tori returned the grin with one of her own as she also followed and stepped thought the portal wondering what was going to be on the other side. Patting her pocket just to make sure her note book was were it was suppose to be.
Totally confused to what had just happened when Tori opened her eyes since she didn't remember falling asleep or getting knocked out. "No clue," Tori replied to Sherry as she was even trying to figure out where the portal had just dumped them.
Looking around to see that there where torches around and a stone corridor, oh Tori was getting more confused. Then Tori saw that she was holding a stick as it was a nice stick but a stick none the less, she totally like her weapon a lot better than this thing as it looked like it could break so very easily. Alright who decided to change her clothing as it was a strange to be wearing a dark cloak, the skirt was ok but the blue and bronze scarf was just as strange to wear as the cloak.
"I have no clue and I do think this portal has a sense of humor I would think,"

While still fussing over just WHERE THE HELL his regular clothes went, why he was holding a stick, and just where the **** Chester went, he hadn't noticed that Sherry and Tori had finally arrived, and were in the same predicament as him.
"Is this a ******* joke? You can't even DO anything with this piece of s**t." He waved the stick around, agitated. The hell were they supposed to do with this, poke someone's eye out?
A loud slam alerted him to his current surroundings, and a low growling sound put him on edge. Slowly turning, he caught the silhouette of a 3-headed beast.
"WHAT THE **** IS THAT?!"
Even without Chester, his mind screamed at him to move, but his body refused to listen. There was nothing he could do as the cerberus' jaws came down on him.
"I certainly hope it does," Sherry replied to Tori. With any luck, this would not end with anybody dead.
Suddenly, there were noises, slamming doors and yelling. Yelling that was very familiar. Sherry turned just in time to see something very large eat the robed figure that was Jake.
"Well it could have been worse by dumping us with Horsemen," Tori said as that would be worse than were they were now especially for the fact that they had these sticks. But Tori did have to admit they did look nice the longer she looked at hers.
Then Tori heard noises that didn't sounds so good and she even thought she heard maybe Jake being the one yelling. Turning to look just like Sherry something large eating a robed figure that Tori knew had to be Jake.
Tori jumped back a lot in fright totally wanting her weapon right now to kill what ever had eaten Jake. She just felt so weak without Aklin as this twig wasn't going to do any good, but she did have to wonder why it felt so warm like it was trying to tell her something. At least Aklin was straightforward in telling her things and not letting her guess what he was thinking even if he did that from time to time to get back at her for reading too much when he wanted to do something else. Tori also felt wearier from what she wasn't totally sure.
"Dammit!" Sherry really didn't know what else to say. This was off to a lovely start. Crap.
A strange room, strange clothes, and a giant dog thing. And....and...Jake wasn't really dead, right? No. No. This was too weird.
And they really needed to get out of here. "That way, there!" she said, pointing at the odd trap door and running. With any luck, whatever the giant beast was..it wouldn't get her.

"s**t," Was all that Tori could say as now this wasn't funny any longer why did this portal have to dump them here in a strange place without there weapons. What type of rabbit hole did they fall into this time.
Tori really hoped that Jake wasn't really dead as she thought he didn't deserve to be eaten since she would like to go fighting not chomped up in one bite by a dog creature and why was the creature there anyways. Was it guarding something or what. Tori kept on thinking that it would be so nice to kill it but without Aklin she couldn't do a thing but try to get away from the creature.
Looking to where Sherry was pointing as yes that did look like the way out. "Ok lets get going," Tori replied as it would be bad just standing around and started to run following Sherry to the exit. This place was just too strange as it just didn't make any sense to her and she also wanted to know why she was so strangely attached to the stick in her hand since she just wanted her Aklin.
Seeing the flash of fangs Tori thought that this sucks since she was going the same way Jake did. She was sorry Sherry to leave you alone in this place and she hoped that you got out alive.

QQ The dice really don't like Tori. It looks like Sherry is on her own.
Tori was behind her. Sherry could have sworn it. But as she scrambled through the exit, she was very much alone.
"A dream," she breathed. It had to be a dream. This was too crazy to not be a dream.

She spent several long moments catching her breath. Just...what was going on? Where had that portal sent them? Please, don't let the others really be dead. Sherry didn't know if she could handle that. And...why was this all ringing as familiar in her head. Why?
She looked back down at the wand in her hand....wand? That's right. That's what it was. And, this robe. This scarf. Oh, holy hell. Was she in some kind of....dare she say it? Yes. Was she in some weird version of Hogwarts? She looked back down at her attire. Yes, apparently she was.
Sherry was suddenly a little bit ashamed it had taken her this long to figure it out, too. She...she had read those books. Seen those movies. And it was only now, after her friends were--
Right. That dog, whose name she couldn't' remember, ate them. "I so hope this is some kind of dream." It had to be. There was no way this was real. Well, there was only one way to find out. Get up, and move on. Cause sitting here in the dark wouldn't help her find any answers.
The new room she was in was...odd. But not full of snarling dog. That was a plus. No, it appeared she was on a giant chessboard. Even as she realized it, on of the pieces moved. Right off the board. She suddenly wished she remembered the first book a little more. That was the one with the giant chessboard, right?
"Well, at least I know a little bit about chess." Maybe. Crap. It had been a while.

She took her place on the board. She thought it was her place. "This has got to be a dream." There was no way she'd be joining a giant game of chess otherwise. Especially not after...
Sherry pushed the thoughts away. It was time to play. She seemed to remember losing...meant smashed pieces. Staying focused was likely a great idea.
She heard a noise, and watched as one piece, a knight, moved along the board, coming to a stop in a place Sherry might have assumed was an odd spot. But then again, she hadn't played in ages.
More noise, a bit of a rumble. Another piece slide across the board, and sure enough, she was right about what happened to taken pieces.
Sherry swallowed. There had been a time in her life when she thought being in a world like this would have been awesome. But standing there, on that chessboard, right after seeing two of her friends devoured, and watching another pawn being destroyed...Sherry figured it was good thing she'd not been transported here before. Her teenage self would be dead or crying in a corner already. One fist clutched the wand in her hand tightly. It was a small comfort.
She really missed her hunter coat, though.

The chess game lasted longer than she would have liked. Every single time another piece slide across the board, Sherry was sure it was coming for her. When it was over, she wasn't quite sure how she'd gotten out of it. The board seemed to know the game, and she was surprised to see how much of she really remembered.
Still, that final move. She wasn't even sure of what happened. But when the dust settled, she was alive. Somehow.
"Thanks," she gave a sweet smile to the other pieces on her team, and left the board just as quick as she could. That thing was scary.
