It's my birthday today. I've been on this earth for 21 years. It's kind of mind-blowing, since I still feel like I'm 16.
This would be a big birthday in some places, but in Australia you're legal for everything at 18.

And how about casinos? In nz you can do everything at 18, but some casinos can still limit it to 20 for some reason.

I turned 21 last year. And I did nothing specially. My sister bought me a drink, but I took one sip and didn't touch it again. (I hate alcohol). Other than I haven't got the opportunity to rent a hotel yet. So I guess I haven't really took advantage of my age yet. I'll be turning 23 in March >.< I hate becoming more and more of an adult. The adult world it scary.

Yeah, dinner with the family and going down to the city with my friends this coming weekend. As for presents, pretty awesome - overlocker, the promise of a sewing machine, money for a new car and some Loki-themed jewelry.

I've never even seen a proper casino, so I have no idea if there's a different age limit. The places with Pokies let you play at 18, but there's not a lot of gambling venues in my area.

I used to support putting the NZ drinking age up, but they are introducing measures to deal with the teen drinking issues which if they work then its all good.

At least stricter rules of drink driving in NZ have brought down the teenage drink driving stats (if your under 20 the legal breath alcohol level is zero or below). which i agree with.

And I believe you can't get rent out a hotel room until you're 21... let me check up on that. *checks* I read and quote, "You have to be 21 or older with a valid credit card or debt card to rent a hotel room at almost all hotels".
Kinda sucks... well, not for me anymore because I'm 22.

That's silly. If you're old enough to have a valid credit card, that should be enough to use at a hotel. Plenty of people are independant long before they're 21.

Drink driving is always a problem, for ages in Aus we've had an absolute zero BAC when driving if you're on your learning or either provisional license, which is a pretty sensible system. I'm still on the last stage of my provisional license, so even at 21 I couldn't drive with so much as 0.01 blood alcohol.
