DISTORTED WORLD OF TRANCE: Human World Prompt: You wake up. There are bright lights surrounding you, the bustle of people nearby, consumed in holiday shopping. You have somehow made it to the Human World. It is UP TO YOU the location, but it has to be a populated area (ie: city area) at a shopping district (mall) areal. All players: You will need to navigate through the Shopping District. - All players may notice something odd: You look perfectly Human (if you are Human, then you just look civilian). You can't summon your weapon, you can't use Fear attacks, and you are wearing odd colourful clothing that kind of hurts your eyes. - Someone is yelling at you, all of you, a man that seems very angry. He calls himself Your Boss. He says if you do not complete these tasks, you will be ejected from the store immediately. While he does seem intimidating, it is more questionable as to why you are here in the first place: now is a good time to stay to explore the area - If you GET FIRED you immediately are ejected from the Distorted Portal but suffer side effects of hallucinations for 24 hours where you continuously see everything in red and green. You also feel slightly Joyful... - It is recommended that players go through the shifts at the same pace (ie: I am player 1, in shift1, I roll 3 times and wait for the others before ICly proceeding to shift 2 together, though they can skip players that become inactive after 24 hours). - Even if you finish this exercise, you will continue to feel lingering effects of Joy. It will last up to 24 IC hours. gaia_crown Step 1: Shift 1 The Boss is telling you to do something strange: talk to these Humans and ask them how their day was. Offer them something about a Promotional Sales Item, the discount mascot of Sappy the Sad Reindeer for only twenty dollars. You are given a stuffed sad reindeer to promote. - Roll 1d10. You must do this three times. - If in ANY of your dice rolls you roll 1, the customer becomes very angry and you and complains to Your Boss. You are ejected from the store- YOU ARE FIRED - For each time you roll even you gain +20% Joy (you get a little happier, feel more in the holiday spirit, feel that everything is awesome and Christmas is the best thing ever...) - If you pass, proceed to STEP 2. gaia_crown STEP 2: Shift 2 You now need to Man the Cashier. You don't really know what that means but there is a small machine in front of you with a lot of numbers. Humans carrying items are looking expectantly at you. - Roll 1d6. You must do this three times. - For each time you roll even you gain +20% Joy -If any of your dice rolls to a 1 The Human waiting in line is getting very angry at you. They keep on saying things like how they're going to use their Visa Card, and that you're Pricing the Wrong Item. You have no clue what that means, but your Boss is very upset at you and yells at you. YOU ARE FIRED. - If you manage to make it through, you are on Step 3. gaia_crown Step 3: Shift 3. Mass chaos everywhere, there are Humans running around everywhere, all at once, it is crazy. They keep on asking you where things are. Roll 1d6. You need to do this four times. Whenever you roll even, a Human comes over to ask you the location of *insert item of your choice*. You have no clue where that is. - If you roll three evens, your boss comes over to you and looks Super Angry. YOU ARE FIRED. - If you manage to pass through this phase you are at the end. gaia_crown Step 4: THE END. - Finally the crowd seems to be over and you manage to survive to the end. The Boss tells you to go home, and you are given... nothing? All you feel is a little bit of sadness. Is this what being a Human is really all about.... - You WAKE UP FROM TRANCE

He had been wandering around the Haunted House with Eva. That was it. It had been another day on the island, and Wilson expected it to pass like any other day. He still wore the green goggles around his neck while he walked through the dark building. It was easier to sleuth around the house when he didn’t have to haul around giant canons and a pack on his back, but his steps still made the floorboards creak every other second. It didn’t even take him a minute to stop and wince. “Hey, are you—“ Wilson turned around toward Eva just as he felt something in the air. His voice cut off suddenly while he tried to search out the source, but something had already pulled him in. It was—
The sounds of multiple, chattering voices melting together were familiar, though not necessarily welcomed. Once Wilson realized he now donned a brightly-colored uniform, he grimaced. This place again? Actually…He spun around a few times. Actually, this wasn’t the same store as the previous time. This definitely was not Hawaii because it was clearly snowing outside. The hunter pursed his lips. If only he could go outside, even one minute would have sufficed.
Something clicked in his brain.
“Eva?”

Patrolling was never very interesting--after all, ninety-percent of the time, they never found anything of particular note--but it was necessary. Going with a partner always helped pass the time a lot more quickly, at least. She tried to move as quietly as possible, blue eyes lazily scanning their surroundings, only to perk up when Wilson began to speak. She turned to look at the young man...
...Just in time to see him pulled into a portal. Before she could even fully process what was happening, the force dragged her in to join him.
And almost immediately after, she flinched as if suddenly snapping out of a daydream, her expression dazed as she glanced around. Where were they? The sea of voices that rose and fall around her was clearly causing some disconcertion, but when she heard a familiar voice call her name, she immediately turned to look at him.
"I--Wilson. I'm here. Are you okay?" She lifted a hand, only to realize that her gloves were gone. A quick look down determined that she was currently donning a bright red outfit. ...Ouch. "Is this another of those weird portal destinations? Where are we--"
Before she could ask any more, she was suddenly cut off by a very loud--and very angry--voice yelling their names.

Wilson heard Eva. He breathed a sigh of relief, whirled around until he saw the other death hunter and walked over. The hunter crinkled his nose upon seeing the brightly-colored outfit she donned, but then looked down at his own clothes. Yes, he was wearing something similar too. Just great. “I’m alright,” he confirmed. Wilson tugged awkwardly at his sleeves while examining the store. “Looks like it. I was taken to a place like this before, except it was in Hawaii.”
“You two!” He turned toward an older man, presumably the manager. The man shoved a reindeer plushie into his arms while he continued to yell at them both. Once he left, Wilson turned toward Eva. “Well, it looks like we have no choice, but to play along for now.” He shrugged cluelessly at her before walking away toward one of the customers. He donned his usual bright smile and brandished her the sad excuse of a toy. “Hello, how’s your day? Would you be interested in buying a Sappy the Sad Reindeer?”

Eva would have liked to know more about this Hawaii trip had this...random man not suddenly shown up to bark orders at them. The young woman blinked blankly as a santa hat was shoved onto her head, and obediently took the matching Santa plush that was thrust into her arms.
...Wh....what just...happened...?
The shot Wilson a puzzled look, only to sigh as she watched him take up his assigned duty. Well, since there was nothing else they could do here aside from go with the flow...
Lips spreading into a grin, Eva crouched down, lifting the Santa plush's arm and waving to all the children that passed by. "Hohoho! Have you all been good little girls and boys this Christmas? What do you want for Christmas?" There was a beat as she remembered that she was supposed to be selling these, and she sheepishly added, "What about a cute, huggable Santa plushie like me?"

His sleeves were itchy. Wilson tugged at the ends of his shirt as soon as he convinced one of the children to take the pathetic reindeer to the check-out with his parent. He looked around and grabbed another plushie off the shelf. The hunter sighed and scratched his head. Everything felt so surreal. Everything was so normal and tiring, but this was not his brand of normal. It had ceased being normal for a long time now. He glanced at Eva and grinned before pointing at the hat on top of her head. Real nice, he mouthed.
As soon as he saw the boss again, however, Wilson immediately went back to convincing the shoppers to buy the toy in his hands.
Wilson would really like to go back right about now.

Perking up upon catching movement from the corner of her eye, Eva turned to Wilson. Grinning at his mouthed words, she made a face at him, pointing to the hat and then to him. Did he want to wear it? Maybe it would suit him better than it did for her.
She paid little mind when the parents of the children she had been trying to sell the plushie to grabbed their kids' hands and walked away, but it was hard to ignore them when they came back minutes later with their boss in tow. So uh, apparently they were mad that she had tried (and successfully) encouraged their children to buy--or at least, really want--the toy, and now the parents weren't hearing the end of their tantrum.
Obviously since the customer is always right, she got a very loud telling-off from the boss-man. His voice got increasingly louder with each sentence--Eva cringed and shot Wilson a "help me" look--before it culminated to a earsplitting yell of "YOU'RE FIRED".
Oops.Syusaki ............ I FORGOT TO ROLLEdit: and then I got Eva fired LMAO OH MY GOD

Laughing quietly, Wilson shook his head. No way! He looked away so he could return to selling the sad excuse of a plushie to other customers. The task was so utterly mundane compared to his hunter duties. It was uncomfortable but oddly comfortable at the same time.
He heard someone yelling and when he looked back, he managed to start walking toward Eva before she was finally fired. Wilson cringed. Oops. Sorry.

Eva had been punted back to Deus Ex, and she waited close to the portal until Wilson was thrown through as well. One look at his expression, and she knew that he had been fired as well. Despite herself, the girl couldn't help but chuckled, her smile wry as she shook her head.
"Oh well. I never was good at working retail."
But hell, in the end, that portal had been a lot better than the other two she had been thrust through previously. At least she didn't die this time.

He rolled across the ground after he was thrown out of the portal. Wilson looked at the sky with wide eyes before dazedly sitting up. Eva’s voice snapped him out of it and he laughed. “Really now?” he asked as he turned toward her and got to his feet. “Well, I guess that was certainly an interesting experience. What do you think we should do now?”

She couldn't help but laugh, smiling dryly when Wilson called the experience "exciting". Well...yes, she supposed that it had been, to the extent. It wasn't the first time she had worked retail, but it was a nice (or rather, not so nice) reminder of how hectic the Christmas season always was.
And how touchy people were during that time.
It had honestly been a little nostalgic, actually, to do something so...menial again. For the past year, her daily routine had been filled up with training and missions, so something as silly as working in a mall was kind of a nice change. She would have liked to work a little longer but...oh well. She had been fired, and there really wasn't much that could be done about that. Good thing that wasn't actually a real job.
Looking back to Wilson, she grinned and shrugged. "Mm, well I think we're off patrol soon. What do you say we go grab a bite to eat, lil bro?" Without waiting for a response, she grabbed his wrist and began to drag him off. Back to Deus Ex!
