It had been too late in the day to visit when it happened, although Sera didn't delay in sending her best friend an important and detailed text that she hoped accurately conveyed the gravity of the situation. The next day saw Sera and her mom drive to pick Rosie up to bring both girls to the hospital to visit their friend, and on the way Seraphine tried to explain in detail everything she knew up until then.

Her summary began at his mother's passing, included his heart surgery that didn't work, the transplant program he was unsure he would get into and the resulting hot springs visit to cheer him up, him getting Mieu back and being accepted to the program, and then the most recent event that consisted of him and Dove being taken hostage, Yuri trying to save them, Luke getting shot, Yuri getting arrested and Luke being comatose in the hospital while awaiting a transplant that would save his life if done in less than a week - because if not, he would die.

They were almost to the hospital when Sera released a sigh as she finished, and tucked a lock of hair behind her ear. "I think that's about it. Any questions?" She looked stressed and tired, obviously having been up late the night before because she'd been so worried about her friend.

Rosie had been out of town when she first got the message that something had happened to Luke. she had wasted no time in getting back to Camphoreon, Pastin galloped as fast as he could, with his training clinging onto his neck.

By the time she had made it back to the City, it was late. Too late for the hospital to allow non family member visitors. So she was forced to go home, shower, made plans with Sera about the morning, and then just sat in her room, trying not to worry as much as she was. surly he had to be okay, it would be okay.

Sera's mother picked her up in the morning, her best friend explaining on the way just what had happened. and when she finished, asking Rosie if she had any questions, the girl could only sit there, numb with worry, and sick with fear.
She would be clenching her hands on her knees if her fingers weren't shaking so much, all the trainer could seem to do was stare down at her hands with wide eyes in a shocked silence.

The numbness had been her initial reaction too, although it didn't last very long before she'd turned it into anger which she vaguely remembered had been partially aimed at Dove. It was actually really hard to accurately remember the first few minutes after she'd found out what happened, and only started remembering sometime after she'd started wandering the halls before stumbling across Nate and his sister.

Sera leaned over to hug Rosie tightly, not really sure what else to say to her friend.

"Alright girls, we're here," Sera's mother said as she pulled up outside the front of the hospital, turning in her seat to look at them and give them an encouraging smile. She looked really worried too, but still tried to console them in some small way. "Everything will be fine, don't worry."

Sera didn't really say anything to her mother as she opened the door and got out. There wasn't really a whole lot to say.

When Sera hugged her, one of the girls arms reached up to cling back to her friend, burrowing her face into the other girl's shoulder and shaking slightly.
She didn't move from that spot for the rest of the ride.

While normally she would have spoken to thank Sera's mother for the ride, Rosie couldn't seem to muster the will to unclench her throat, she did manage a gentle nod as she slid out of the car after Sera, not even going out of her own side door, still holding onto her friends arm and hand.

Sera wasn't exactly used to being clung to for an extended period of time by anybody, but given the circumstances and her own emotional turmoil, she clung just as hard to Rosie. She held firmly onto the fact that at least she'd had most of yesterday afternoon and evening to deal with everything, so today wasn't as bad.

Once inside the lobby, Sera expressed their desire to see their friend, Luke, but was told that while he was still stable this morning, he wouldn't be able to receive visitors until a little while later, and that they could wait in the waiting room until that time, so that was where Sera headed. At least it would have comfortable chairs, and maybe a couch or two, or something.

They were told they would have to wait some more, and Rosie couldn't help but feel more anxious about that. But, she just followed her friend into the waiting room, taking a seat on one side of the couches that was there.

"He's still stable though." She spoke, rubbing her hands together, finding the first hopeful thing she could and latched onto it.

It was a fact universally acknowledged that coffee, tea, and other beverages available to visitors to a hospital were comparable to bilge water. It had been a long day before he had heard, and it had only got longer. He knew Luke's condition but what exactly had happened was more of a mess in his mind. He hadn't met this Dove girl, but he supposed he was about to. A helpful friend on reception paged him where he sat slumped on a bunk in the on call room when people turned up asking after the red-head with the ruined heart.

Half asleep half painfully awake the huge man put together a tray of... things. There was proper coffee and proper tea in pots. A little jug of milk. A bowl of sugar with a spoon. Cups. A plate of biscuits.

Nobody got in his way as he moved with it through the corridors; size and his scrubs saw to that. Never get in the way of a giant doctor on a mission, regardless of what he might be carrying.

Dith opened the door to the waiting room and looked around the waiting room. These places always depressed him: so many people hoping so desperately that you could work a miracle for somebody they loved and so very often you could not.

He spotted the huddle of people that was his young friends and moved over to join them. "Here, I have brought drinks and cookies. You should all have something, even if you don't feel like it." There was nothing he could do for Luke right now and little enough for the rest of them. At least he had brought tea and coffee.

Sera sat down on the couch beside Rosie, and nodded her head. "Yeah, he is. That's good," she pointed out, holding onto it too, before adding adamantly, almost a little defiantly, "he'll be fine."

She wasn't sure what else to say, though, until a familiar (tall) face appeared, and she raised her gaze (quite high) to regard him. "Dith," she said, her tone carrying a hint of confusion that was numbed by her feelings. What was he doing here? ...what was he wearing? ...oh, that was probably why he was here. He worked here apparently; go figure. "You heard about Luke too?"

Like Sera, there were just no words that could be spoken that would make things better right now, what could they say? If they even knew what to say.
Her mind was a buzz, she couldn't pick out a coherent thought pattern that wasn't laced with worry and the constant replying of her mind praying "Please be okay, please be okay."

Another familiar voice broke her mess of thoughts, and she looked up to the large curly haired man that she had grown to view as a father figure.
She didn't think to expect him to be there, though it was obvious now that she thought about it.
Her wide eyes blinked at him for a couple of seconds, before the blond withered in her seat, her hands clapping to her face and finally burst into the sobs she had been holding back.
She had worked so hard to keep her defense up, stay strong and believe it would be okay. but seeing Dith caused her to drop her guard, and she suddenly felt like a young child again who was so lost and scared.

Sometimes there was nothing you could really say to help.

Dith did not say anything, he knew he would just come out with something daft and unhelpful. Instead he sat down next to Rosie and wrapped one huge arm around her, pulling her close. "Hush дочь. We're going to take care of him, okay?" There was nothing he specifically could do - not his field, heart transplants - but he knew his colleagues and trusted them.

The only problem was finding a donor in time and wishing for one was wishing death on another.

He hated this work and this world sometimes.

"I heard," he turned to Sera, nodded slightly. "How are you doing?" Silly question, no good answer. It was always asked all the same.

Rosie's sudden crying startled her, and tears formed in her own eyes in an involuntary response. Seeing how much her friend was bawling, however, only further steeled her resolve to avoid it as much as possible - at least in public. "Um," she started, her hands fidgeting over themselves, fingers interlocking and moving and just in general trying to keep her mind off everything by fidgeting incessantly, "not.. not terrible?" The girl finished uncertainly. Indeed, she wasn't crying, and that was really all she could hope for at the moment, personally. She could hope a lot of things for Luke though.

She felt someone sit down on her other side, and a strong arm reach over to hug her.
she didn't fight it, leaning into Dith as she cried into his shirt, listening to him telling her that they would take care of him, hoping more then anything that we would be okay. But still not being able to keep herself from crying.

She trusted Dith, trusted what he said, and knew that no matter what, they would do their best for Luke, but the thought of something going on, or the fact that any of this happened in the first place, horrified her.

"Hey," Dith squeezed Rosie gently and reached a hand out to Sera, "it's okay. I know the people working here, I know they're good. I know you're scared - that's only natural and I am also - but he is in the best care he can be."

He still didn't have the full picture of what had happened but now did not seem the time to ask.

The fact that Rosie was still crying was upsetting enough, and Dith's words didn't help. Instead of making her sad and more depressed than she already was, she forced the emotions instead into fuel for her not-crying. She didn't like the situation at all, not one bit, and although Dith was only trying to be kind and comforting to them both, Sera was not in the mood for it. The hand he offered was merely looked at briefly before it was ignored in favor of pouring herself some coffee to try and keep herself calm that way. Her thoughts were more defiant than anything hopeful - Luke would be fine, he had to be fine. There was absolutely no way he wouldn't be.

Besides, Rosie needed comforting the most out of the two of them at the moment. "D'you want me to pour you some coffee, Rosie..?" Sera asked gently of her friend, the coffee pot in one hand and her other hovering uncertainly a second cup.

As quickly as possible, Dove had made her way back to the hospital, this time with Yuri, and found herself yet again being led into the waiting room with no new updates on the patient she had come to see. Sighing heavily, she opened the door and paused, blinking at the small cluster, two of the faces familiar. Hesitating a moment, she stepped forward slowly, unsure and unwilling to interrupt any conversation that might have been in process.

When she neared, however, her heart sank further as she realized Rosie's state. Sera seemed no more shaken than she had the day before, and the man was someone she had never seen. She watched absently as Sera poured the coffee, coming to a quiet halt close to the group, her hands gripping the strap of her bag almost nervously.
