It had been quite some time since she took the effort to take on a student for an exam. Really, she had no use to run such things until now. Just the other day she had a brilliant idea, and that was the only reason the Selkie girl would find a note slipped under her dorm door.

Only her arrival would bring the answers as to 'why so early.'

Dress for rugged terrain? Well that was very vague! Rugged how? Water rugged? Rugged caves? Rugged mountains? Forests? Volcanoes? Sibyl wasn't sure which one to dress for so she just..kind of...prepared herself for anything. She was dressed in layers, ready to remove whatever was unneeded when she found where she was going.

The ghoul knocked on the office door when she arrived, not at all bothered by the hour of the morning, and waited. "Professor Byyyyyyyrn? It's Sibyl~! I'm heeeeeere~!" She was too happy for this time of day.

"Turn the door knob yourself." A voice growled loudly at the door, clearly not as happy about it being so early in the morning. Or maybe this was just her usual bright and sunny attitude shining through.

She was sitting at her desk, a overly large cup clenched between her fingers. The contents were halfway gone already.

She glanced up and down at her as she opened the door. It was a sight that made even the crankiest phoenix laugh. "You look like you would keep rolling if i pushed you over. Your not packing for the arctic, get rid of some of those layers."

Sibyl seemed unperturbed by the tone of Byrn's voice, used to snaps from Marzena as it was, and grumpiness from Gabriel and Zar. It was just how they talked! People talked weird sometimes. The door was opened and she waddled in, ready and prepared for anything.

She grinned when the professor laughed. See? She was nice! She was jolly! She was--oh. Right. Her clothes. "Always be ready for anything~!" Sibyl announced as if she had learned this from someone or something. In truth Sibyl wasn't sure where it came from but hey it sounded smart so she was going to say it! She did as she was told, shedding a few layers until she was left in just a simple pair of pants, boots, her cloak from home, her seal skin and a shirt. "How's this?"

Good lord did the ghoul have a tank hidden under all that extra clothing too?

"Fine, just fine." She mumbled, ignoring the ghoul just a bit more. Not showing the least bit of further emotions she sat there drinking her coffee, waiting for it to kick in.

A minute or two later, the cup slammed down on the desk as she scraped the chair legs on the floor. "So about this... Exam. I have a task for you to do. Pass or fail, victory or loss, you will report back to me. A fail in this instance is if you dissipate, and thus return back here in the process." She stood in front of her next, the phoenix's heeled shoves giving her a bit more height. "I warn you though, i dont take kind to failure. Is that clear?"

Perhaps, Byrn. Perhaps.

All Sibyl knew of Professor Byrn was what Selene had told them during their natural forms class. She was a phoenix, a biiiiiiiiiiiiiiig phoenix. A really big phoenix. So big she could squish Sibyl by accident and probably not even notice. It was for this reason she kept quiet while the professor drank her coffee, bouncing idly on her toes while she waited. What did Professor Byrn want with her? She was excited! Was this something super important? A super special secret mission only she could accomplish? She was so ready.

Sibyl's eyes widened as Byrn approached her, her bouncing ceasing and her hands clasped behind her back.

Wait.

Exam?!

This was her exam! She was going to be a second year! Sibyl practically vibrated with excitement over the news. "Uh huh! Uh huh! I understand!" She gave Byrn a salute, grinning from ear to ear. "What've I gotsta do?"

She was just far too awake for the morning.

She should just fail her right now for being too damn awake. Pass, fail, the ghoul still moved to year two. Why did it matter?


...Because Pyre needed something. Sigh.

"I need you to fetch me something. It only shows up around 7 in the morning before fleeing back in to its hole until the next day. So basically, time is ticking." The phoenix reached a hand out and gave the girl a instructional booklet on where to find it and what to do when she did.

"Oh and stay in your form with legs, you'll need them if you wish to make it in time." Flippers were no good for running.

STAGE 1:

• Sibyl's quest is to go to a cave inside the scarefari forrest and find what Pyre wants.
  
• She will be battling both against TIME and her HP bar can not drop to 0.
  
• Inside the booklet is also a special item. It is a protein bar that will restore her HP to full, at a price. If she eats this it will take 10 minutes away from her time! ...Its a large chewy bar ok. Can be used ONCE.

• You have TWO HOURS (120 minutes) to reach the cave, but try and do it in less time! Youll need time to find the thing inside too! Keep track of your HP and your Time Tally.
  
• Roll 1d6 per go. Correspond Rolls to the Bottom.
  
• You can not go over your max HP of 30, even if you roll a + HP post.
  
• After 5 Rolls you will have reached the Cave.
  
• Once you pass this stage and get to the cave entrance, Quote me! ...Oh if you dont make it, Quote me too XD
  

1- You fall in a puddle of some sort of goopy muddy pit, it smells like troll feet. - 15 minutes, - 5 HP
2- You almost went the wrong way, but a friendly minipet helps you and shows you the way! They also give you some herbs to help heal your wounds. - 10 minutes, + 5 HP
3- You trip over a pack of invisible dogs, multiple times. - 20 minutes, - 5 HP
4- Strangely, Nothing happens o.o Is something watching you? - 10 minutes
5- You get lost! But oddly feel better because you strolled through some flowers? - 10 minutes, +5 HP
6- a REALLY MEAN minipet, that seems to have been following you, trips you ! - 10 HP

Had Sibyl known how Miss Byrn felt about her morning energy, or rather her always energy, she would have offered Byrn her secret to life. It was a very intense secret, you see. So intense that the only time she could even think it was when telling someone about it or her head would explode or something.

Yup. That's her story and she's sticking to it.

Sibyl took the booklet handed to her and flipped through it quickly, making a curious little sound as it was explained what her exam would be. Find something? What was she looking for? Maybe the booklet would explain. "Okie dokie!" Stay in her ghoul form? But..but what if she came across water?

Lame.

Keeping her pouting to a minimum, Sibyl gave a nod of her head. "Okies. I'll be quicker than a speed demon~!" Because those existed.

Sibyl ran off after that, intent on getting this done faster than ever for Miss Byrn. She only had two more hours until seven! She ran and ran until she made it to the forest, stopping when she came across a split path. Both of them looked pretty this-is-the-path-to-the-cave-like. Left..right...left..right...

She took a step toward the left, starting down that path until a pair of siamese cheshire cats suddenly appeared in front of her seemingly from nowhere. Sibyl squeaked and stopped in her tracks. Kitties! Where had they come from?

The cats looked at each other, down the path Sibyl was taking, at each other again, and then finally the ghoul. Their expression seemed...grim.

The pair moved and started to nudge Sibyl's legs with their faces, guiding her away from one path and toward the other. Sibyl did as they were urging her to, watching them curiously. Where were..uh...okay! "Thank you for your help!" Just think of all the time they saved her from going down the wrong way! Sibyl skipped and hummed merrily through the forest, waving to the cat twins as she left.

What nice kitties! They were so helpful. It did make Sibyl wonder what was at the end of that path though, especially when they had looked so concerned for her. Was it dangerous? Or maybe they had tricked her!

Tricking her seemed plausible when Sibyl had no idea where she was anymore.

She walked through the flowers in hopes of a shortcut back to where she needed to be.

The siamese cheshire cats appeared again from Sibyl had no idea where, standing back to back with their connected tail in front of Sibyl's feet before the ghoul could even react. She tripped over their tail and the minipet disappeared with a snicker before she could accuse it of being a meanie butt.

Time was running out! Could she make it!? Sibyl picked herself up and dusted herself off while running as fast as she could. The cheshire siamese cats appeared again as she took off down a path, startling her into taking the next one instead.

She really shouldn't have done that. Sibyl sighed and trudged through another small bed of flowers. Where was she now?

...Oh look! The cave! Sibyl gasped, flailing her arms and searching her pockets for the booklet. Found it! Yes! A protein bar fell out and she blinked, putting it back in her pocket for later. Not hungry.

As Sibyl looked at the cave she would notice something strange. On the walls of the cave were some odd glowing sort of fungus that was thicker in some patches than others. The different types were glowing different colors in different patches.

Looking down at the instructions, you will see that the Professor made a note. "Make sure to go down the Pink Tunnel."

As she entered the cave though... as if they could hear her, the lights suddenly shut off and left her in total darkness.

After a few minutes of stumbling around you will notice that your eyes are adjusting do the dark, so you can SEE but... not which tunnel is pink?

Also...why does it smell so weird?

Stage 2

• Sibyl needs to roll until she gets down the RIGHT tunnel!
  
• She will be battling the clock and her HP once more.
  
• The Protein bar is still in her possession! Same rules apply, take away 10
• minutes if she eats it.
  
• Roll 2d6 per go and correspond your rolls to the bottom.

FIRST DIE:

Your first (on the left) number tells you how much HP you lose that turn. There is something odd about that smell that is making her grow weaker.

SECOND DIE:

1- You stumble down the wrong fork in the road :< -5 minutes
2- Your little cheshire friends decide to show up and play with you some more. - 10 minutes
3- Oh! You thought you saw something pink! So you follow it... only for it to vanish. - 5 minutes
4- You walk down a little further... until finally you turn the corner, and you see the pink walls flick on once more!
5- Purple moss turns on in this cave, showing something with mean looking glowing eyes at the end. Better run back the way you came! -5 minutes
6: Ooooh something SPARKLY down this Cave! - 5 minutes

WHERE DID THE LIGHTS GO?!

Sibyl squeaked and fumbled around in the cave in search of the pink tunnel, getting cut off by the mischievous pair of cheshire siamese cats again. Oh no. Ohhhh no. Not this time! Sibyl tried to run away from them but they took this as a game, appearing in front of the ghoul at every turn. "Stooooooop!" Sibyl cried, tripping and falling on her face again.
