I think that last boss was the most involved I've ever had to get with a boss encounter in Skyrim. Malkoran during The Break of Dawn quest.
Making special equipment, changing standing stone blessing, and making elemental resist potions is generally something that I never do.

I snuck up and hit him with Mehrune's Razor. Lucked out with the insta-kill.
All I had to do was purge the spirits, grab the sword and move on to doing that god awful Blackreach quest finding Crimson Nirnroot.
(P.S. it doesn't help you do jack, unless you really like alchemy.)

I had to make a ring, necklace, and new flawless steel plate boots that resisted Frost 21% each. Switch to The Lord stone blessing (25% magic resistance +50 armor) and a flawless elven greatsword with Shock damage enhantment. x.x;
Also popped some Resist Frost potions before fighting him. Could only manage 19% with my Alchemy level though. :/
And of course he switches to Shock and Fire spells when he turned Lich. x.x
There was no way I could have beat him at Lv.12 when the quest first became available. Took me until Lv.21. x.x;

I love having tons of quests in a game.
The longer the better for me, as long as the game is good. (which skyrim is)
Some games nowadays are just to short.

Eeyup. Usually a sneak attack or something like that is enough. x.x;
And I'm doing the No Shouting limitation as long as possible on this file.
