The C.A.P., or the Crew Assistance Program, is an elite program in which you will be able to help Crewmembers of the Newbie Supporting and Training Guild (or NSTG) plan for events at least twice a year, get an inside look at all of the time and effort that goes into creating an NSTG event, and even start thinking about whether or not being an NSTG Crewmember is right for you and for your schedule. You have the opportunity to get real hands-on experience by taking on the anonymous persona of the NSTG Fairy, hosting contests and games, and much, much more!!
The CAP is an invite-only, hidden guild where all event preparation processes are to be discussed in secrecy. Should you be admitted to the program, a guild invitation will be sent to you via private message.
How do CAP volunteers help out?
So glad you asked! Here's a list of all of the things CAP volunteers can do to contribute to an amazing NSTG event. Anything that has a $ symbol next to it involves financial compensation from the NSTG treasury, so don't worry about ever having to spend any of your own savings by being a part of the program!
Provide suggestions and ideas. Is there a specific kind of contest or game you would like to see? Or is there a fantastic theme that you just thought of for that event? Share it with us! You never know if you may inspire someone.
Sign up to be a Fairy.$ During every event, we have two, three, or four Crewmembers take on the mysterious persona of the NSTG Fairy. Each "Fairy" comes up with his/her own unique message to send every time they go "on duty" and selects an item that will become his/her trademark over the course of the event; then, s/he anonymously sends this gift and this message to guild members who are actively participating in event activities. Members have a fun time guessing which Crewmembers sent which messages and items, which is the fun part! At the end of the month, we reveal the identities of the Fairies.
Host a contest or game thread.$ A contest is just what it sounds like -- a competition between participating members. Some popular contest ideas are: avatar/Tektek contests, art contests, and bumping contests. A game thread is a thread in which anyone who "plays" -- either by rolling dice, submitting an RNG post, etc. -- can win a small prize. Both are fun to host for different reasons: If you would like to have your "workload" (sending out prizes to winners, recording how much you've spent, etc.) more concentrated towards the end of the event and love judging contest submissions, hosting a contest might be great for you. If you would like to have your "workload" more spread out over the course of the event and enjoy giving out prizes to a larger amount of people, then hosting a game might be right for you. It all depends on how much time and energy you're willing to commit to the event.
Invite artists to set up art booths in the event subforum. During events lasting more than one week, an event's art booth coordinator invites artists to set up small, temporary art shops -- known to the NSTG Crew as "art booths" -- inside the Holiday Event subforum of the NSTG. As the art booth coordinator, you will send a friendly, invitational PM to several artists who have opened art booths in the NSTG before (or perhaps have not!) and encourage them to contribute to an upcoming event by offering their art to participants at a reasonable price.
Host an item auction or item/gold lottery to raise money for the NSTG.$ The NSTG will provide you with a sum of gold (which may go towards the purchasing of various prizes or to the prize pot of a gold lottery) as well as some items that are in the guild treasury. You will set up various auctions or lottos for these items or gold sums, with each unique lotto or auction taking place in a different post of the same thread. 50% of lotto proceeds will go to the NSTG and the other 50% will go to one, two, or three winners; all of the auction proceeds will go to the NSTG. We're looking for extremely experienced, active, and trustworthy people to take this position in any NSTG event!
Host an art auction or raffle to raise money for the NSTG. It will be your duty to find a group of artists (two or three is a good amount) who would be willing to auction or raffle off their artwork, customized or not. Each artist will have their art and auction/raffle featured in their own post on the first page of the thread. All proceeds from these auctions or raffles will go to the NSTG. Yes -- you may be one of these artists and auction/raffle off your work to benefit the NSTG!
Help us plan for an NSTG party/Towns event. During each event, we combine forces with some close friends of the NSTG, such as the Barton Town Police Department or THE Charity Event Guild, and host a fantastic Towns event! We need suggestions from you, though. What games should we play in Towns? What kinds of activities should we have? What will be the dress code, time, place, etc.? With your help, we can make those ideas a reality!
Judge submissions to the daily avatar contests of NSTG Spirit Week. During Spirit Week, we host daily avatar contests with a theme. January 4th, for example, is always NSTG Spirit Day, where everyone is invited to dress in our guild colors, blue and gold. Members will submit their "entries" and we need someone to judge them and select the daily winners, and this is where you come in!
Be a Riddle Master at NSTG parties. For a short time (usually 15 minutes) you provide riddles for party-goers to answer. You announce the beginning of the Riddle Time, then present your first riddle. The first person who answers correctly gets a shout-out from you and perhaps a small prize later. Give everyone a little time to congratulate the winner. Then you present the next riddle. Riddles can be clues to songs or literature, clues to the party theme icons or famous people/characters, standard riddles, or whatever your creativity can provide! Fun riddles are quickly (but not instantly) solvable by most of the people at the party.
