Lock was well aware he was about to get a smack down. His hands were shaking a little as he pulled a shadow from his bag. Voodoo was laughing from her perch on top of his bag, completely enjoying Lock's vulnerability.
"Go ahead," he mumbled at Shun, trying to calculate why he'd thought THIS was a good idea.
Shun DID tell him to train harder. That was it. He just told himself this was a challenge. A really, really, rEALLY big challenge.

It seems as of late, Shun has been sparring younger foes rather than more of his equals. He was going to need to amend that at some point, but it was good to push them. It was just a little less of a challenge for himself. Unless they were ganging up on him like that one time...
Shrugging at the younger reaper, he called out his blades, then crouched down into his stance.

Lock tried to make his stance something like Shun's, mimicking the locked motion of his feet. But a ready position for daggers and a ready position for magical shadow creature summoning were two different beasts entirely.
It felt uncomfortable, so he switched back to his normal stance, and then watched Shun idly, trying to figure out where the reaper was going to move. It was hard because he knew Shun had that dumb shadowstep ability, and was going to disappear from his sight at any moment.
"Okay he's scared now! Go go!" Voodoo cried gleefully.
"Jackdammit Voodoo."

Shun ignored Voodoo and kept his focus on Lock in the meantime. He watched the boy for a moment or so, then went to make his move. There was no shadowstep this time around. The reaper dashed forward, straight for Lock. As he neared, he aimed to slash the shadowmancer across the chest.

Lock grimaced as Shun lunged, but countered with his own wall of shadow, raising the darkness from his own shadow to stop Shun's daggers. Of course, it wasn't good enough, as his daggers broke right through it, but it was at least noteworthy that Lock got the barrier up before Shun got there.
The shadows had shattered, but he spend them around his backside, using the shattered pieces to lodge into Shun's side while he dodged another blow from the daggers. They were very pointy and Lock did not want to die.

Shun gritted his teeth as he felt Lock's shadows dig into his sides. They were more tangible than they seem and he was going to need to keep an eye on them now. But in the meantime, he kept on with the offensive. The reaper shifted in closer, striking twice once more. This time he slashed at Lock's right leg then slashed upwards at his torso.

Shun's blade struck him once, and he thought there was a momentary pause. He utilized it to call forth his shadows for healing-
-but then there was a SECOND ATTACK. The shadows crumbled, falling to pieces in an unnatural, jerky movement as Shun hit him a second time. He gritted his teeth and tried moving out of the way, at least to save himself from a third attack if there was one.
Well if anything, he could say he'd learned not to use attacks too hastily.

Shun saw the shadows come and go. Lock seemed to be momentarily disoriented and such he went to exploit that if possible. He came in with a flurry of attacks. Two slashes - one from each blade, then finishing up his combo with a kick towards the other reaper's stomach. HP: 54 Damage: 17 SoS: 3

The force of Shun's kick threw him backwards. By the time he'd hit the ground, Lock knew he was done.
He just sort of laid there.

"Do you yield?"Shun decided to ask this time around rather than pouncing on the fallen reaper. He kept on his guard, however. Just in case. HP:54 Defense: 2

Voodoo then materialized herself on top of Shun's head. "I win!"
Lock raised a hand in defiance but it flopped back down to the ground very uselessly. He tried.

Shun twitched slightly as Voodoo appeared on his head. He didn't seem too amused. However, he kept his focus on the younger reaper. The boy didn't really say yes or no to yielding. But then again, he definitely did not seem like he was in any state to be continuing the fight. So, he dismissed his blades and relaxed himself. He didn't leave just yet, and instead waited to see if Lock could get up on his own.

An odd thing then happened. He felt a pain in his chest, and Voodoo began to form small armored grieves. A yowl was heard as the grieves dissipated- there wasn't enough force to keep them together. Something was missing.
The pain subsided and he rubbed the spot where it had been. He then sat up (admittedly somewhat slowly) and grunted at Shun. "Is your way of preparing someone killing them?" he questioned. It was as though the armor had never been there at all. Either that, or Lock was feigning ignorance.

"Our enemies will not and do not go easy on us. I will not coddle you while we're training. Besides, you aren't dead," Shun replied, eyeing the other reaper, "This was a way for me to assess where you currently are at. When I'm teaching you specific combat skills, I will not be striking as I did just then."
