These are the roads that navigate the Land of Water. They are commonly used by traders moving stock and villagers traveling between small villages and homesteads. As a coastal nation, most if not all of the roads are located by the beach. There are some, however few, that cut through the mainland.

With such light packing and a small group, travel out of the Hidden Mist had been a breeze. It had helped that the Mizukage had traveled the mountain path countless times in his youth, thus learning the vast majority of the shortcuts that lie within.the swirling mists. That portion of their trip had been relatively irrelevant. There was no effort put into the act, no thought was necessary. For any true Mist ninja the trek was nigh upon effortless. But for all the ease that that portion of the trip had provided, the duo had left the training wheels behind when they had emerged from the Mist filled path. They were now in pure Water Country, where the sun beamed down without obstruction and the air was filled with the salty sea breeze. Turpis inhaled, finding the smell pungent compared to the dulled scent that permeated the Mist. While he loved his homeland and respected the necessity of the mist that helped to protect it, he could not help but to admit that the land was greyed by the never ending mist. So to see a land where this was not the case was admittedly refreshing for the Mizukage.

While the sights and scent were a marvel to those deep green eyes, Turpis could not allow himself to be distracted. His companion and himself had not left the village for sightseeing. They were on a mission. A mission that most likely would take a bit of time considering how much land there was that held the capability to hide a moderate amount of thieves. With the sun out such an encampment would be easily seen by the naked eye in close proximity. Turpis, however, doubted that they would come across such an encampment after just leaving the village. They were most likely to find the group under nightfall, where the flames of society could be seen over the horizon. With the sun at its zenith, that left an optimal margin of time for the duo to cover some ground in their search. With such an accommodating time frame, Turpis thought this to be the perfect opportunity to deliver a lesson on tracking unto Tomiji.

"Without looking at the mission information, I want you to tell me how large of a group we are looking for, and why we are looking for them." The first portion of the lesson was no more than memorization. When tracking a person or even a group the more details one retained the better equipped they were for dealing with their prey. This lesson would not only apply for the current mission, but for future mission's as well. Turpis knew all too well the importance of knowledge and its retention, hence why he maintained a level of secrecy. The less the world knew about him, the more effective he could be in defending himself and by extension his village. Everybody in the village were free to speculate on what could be hiding under those bandage's that the Mizukage was so fond of wearing. There was no doubt though that the few that had seen the view beneath did not live to tell of it. It was a subject that had become the stuff of bedtime stories to keep younglings from acting out of line, and that suited Turpis just fine.

Tomiji left the village, the bright rays of the sun beating down on him. He shifted the pack on his back slightly and thought to himself how much lighter the scrolls in the Mizukage's bag were then the supplies he carried in his pack. It really didn't mean anything to him, but was instead just a wild thought that crossed his mind as they made their way onto a trail.

Answering the Mizukage's question was a simple enough task. "We are to locate a shipment stolen by a group of bandits somewhere in this area. I don't expect however that we will find them this close to city. They are most likely a very long distance from the city, but haven't left the area yet. We should come across them towards sun down." Most of this was baseless speculation, but it made him seem smarter at the time, and he felt it was mostly correct.

His answer was adequate, and provided a response for both questions that had been asked of him. Had this been an academy assignment he would have given Tomiji extra credit on the additional thought that he had dedicated to his response. Even if he had not known it at the time, the boy was thinking with empathy. His assumption that they would be a moderate distance from any villages was well educated. With common sense being nigh upon a super power in these days, it was good to see someone that possessed it. Turpis felt comfortable placing a moderate amount of faith in this boy in pseudo leading the mission. It was clear who was in charge between the two, but that did not mean that Turpis would not give him room to work. After all this was as much a test of his ability as a ninja as it was a mission. "Tell me then. What course of action should we take. Shall we wait for nightfall to begin our search with rested bones, or will we walk the roads during the daytime with the hopes of spotting them early one?" Both were valid options, but only one was the answer he was looking for. While waiting till nightfall to search would provide them with rest, this band was small and mobile which meant that they could easily move during the cover of night and make them that much more difficult to find.

As Tomiji made his decision on the question that had been placed before him, Turpis had other plans in mind. Whatever choice he had made, the two had quite a bit of distance to cover which made for ample opportunity to get some training done. He unslung the backpack from his shoulders in the middle of his stride and began to rummage about through the contents of the back. This was made somewhat of a nuisance considering that he had haphazardly thrown the scrolls into the backpack without much care given to order. As such it took almost all of a minute for him to find the particular scroll he had been searching for. It was with an almost comical 'aha' that he withdrew the scroll or which he had been searching for from the bag. He proceeded to toss the scroll to Tomiji.
"That contains the mechanics behind a chuunin level taijutsu technique. Whatever you decide on how we are going to approach this, I expect you to master that technique before we get there." With the looming mission before them he wanted Tomiji to experience mental multitasking. At all times he should be considering long term and short term circumstances so that he could deal with them appropriately.

Turpis himself was not one to sit idle. He had some training of his own to do. His was a task that was more subtle, although with acute observation his true behavior would be easily ascertained. There was a sudden spasm in his right arm as he continued to walk, which caused his elbow to shake for all of a second. This was the the mass of thread beneath his flesh adjusting itself for what was to come. Beneath his wrapping a thread pushed it's way through his pores. The protrusion was painful, yet an experience that was not uncommon for the male. It slithered against his flesh for a few moments before his chakra converted it into paper. The paper was twisted and crumpled, matching the tendril's appearance in paper form. Once a sheet's worth had been converted, the paper end of the tendril was pushed through his wrappings and into the open. The sound of tearing could be heard and following that a sheet of paper was present in the palm of the Mizukage. His eyes brightened for a moment, clearly amused by the plain creation. It was his intentions for this creation that fueled his actions. As someone who spent most of his day in an office filled with paperwork, the ability to manipulate paper was an asset that he could utilize. What better time to do so than the present?

Tomiji held the scroll the Mizukage had given him and spun it in his hand. It was old and bore the stains and smells of the previous owners. It was like holding a piece of history in his hand. It felt old and rough, the edges fraying and starting to tear. With extreme caution, he slowly unrolled the scroll and began to read it. It contained the instructions and basic technique for Dynamic: Action. It detailed how the shinobi would launch themselves at high speed and instantly attack with a massive barrage of punches and kicks. It required precise timing and skill to time each movement to flow into each other. He slowly rolled it back up and placed it in one of his own pouches and continued on walking, following the Mizukage, stretching and preparing to practice.

"To answer your question, I think that we should rest, but only for a moment, then we can push on. These men should be little threat if all they do is rob farmers. They lack to power to challenge someone with real strength. We can also use the cover of nightfall to hide and cover our approach, minimizing the risk of them fleeing before us." He continued stretching and finally decided it was time to begin his training.

As he walked, he slowly tightened the muscles in his legs and relaxed his shoulders. Tomiji faced a tree and launched himself at it with great force. But used just a little to much force, he had to dodge to the side to avoid ramming the tree and rolled to the side. [1/3] He rolled back onto his feet and turned to face the tree, giving himself a little more space. Once more he jumped towards the tree, this time holding back a little and reached the tree. He started to throw punches and kicks, but his timing was off and anyone with any taijutsu experience would see this. [2/3] Tomiji jumped back and stayed light on his feet, almost standing on the tips of his toes and lunged forward. A series of punches left his hands at amazing speeds, with kicks timed in between the volley of punches. The tree slowly gave way under the force of the blows and cracked and splintered, falling over. [3/3]

Proud of himself, he turns to face the Mizukage, "Is that all you have? That one was pretty easy." He rubbed his knuckles for a moment and tightened the bandages on his hands. In truth he had expected higher level styles to come out of the Mizukage's bag, and he had yet to seem him work on the Mirror Image style he had seemed so interested in earlier in the village. Pushing the thought from his mind, he pulled out a small bottle filled with water and took a small sip, enough to wet his mouth, and placed it back in his pack. He needed to ration his supplies after all, he had no clue how long he would be out here with the Mizukage.

Turpis would have chosen the route that involved travel during the day as well as through the night. While it would leave the duo physically drained it would give them an opportunity to locate the band of thieves before they could move their stolen goods. While that was his own personal opinion on how to go about completing the mission, he could see the logic in Tomiji's decision. Resting during the day limited the chance of heat exhaustion and made for various occasions to train as they walked the countryside. "An intelligent decision. We shall take that course of action then and take a small breather for the time being." While he had said that in a manner that implied a break, it was clear from Tomiji's mannerisms that he was about to train. While covering ground was a big part of finding the stolen goods, Turpis could appreciate his eager nature in wanting to train as soon as possible. Tomiji was promoting his own growth, and when shinobi loyal to the Mist showed that kind of ambition it was his pleasure to nurture it. While he practiced on honing the tool that was his physical form, Turpis was given the opportunity to focus on improving his mental skills.

He observed in relative silence as Tomiji set about learning the taijutsu skill that had been inscribed upon the scroll. If he remembered correctly it were the dynamics behind Dynamic action, a technique that he himself had not yet learned. However it was Turpis' learning style that made this a boon rather than a burden. Where most learned through constant training and diligent studies, he learned through watching. Tomiji displayed natural skill in his attempts to practice the technique, however there were subtle tells in his movements that were possible liabilities for the boy. He made no mention of it while the boy practiced, as a backseat sensei limited growth. It was only when the splintering of bark and wood reached his ears did he open his mouth to speak. "Splendid..." When certain that Tomiji had ceased to throw blows, Turpis did approach from his vantage point of about five yards away from the line of fire. He approached the tree, rather than the boy and dropped to one knee. He began to inspect the areas of impact, which were clearly evident by their barely smoothed texture. Turpis gleaned a bit of information from the indentations left by his pupil's strikes, and it was then that he stood to turn and face him. "...but you can do a whole lot better. Let me show you how..." Turpis enjoyed teaching by example, especially when the lesson was on his favorite subject of taijutsu.

He began to circle the tree stump in an outward spiral. The technique called for launching oneself at an opponent and subsequently drowning them in a flurry of strikes and kicks. The launch was the reason for his spiral as if he were to charge from too close of a distance he was likely to trample the tree stump. Satisfied with his lack of proximity with the stump, he paused. He eyed the pulp of the tree which served as evidence that the tree had been felled in a manner that was less than orthodox. With enough heat on their heads as it was Turpis was effectively solving two problems by demonstrating the skill himself. His legs tensed to the point that his knees bent ever so slightly. When they sprung he was launched ten yards towards the targeted stump. In a flurry of motion a single leg rose and proceeded to land a series of heel kicks upon the unsightly pulp that rose from the surface of the stump. When at last the Mizukage had stopped, the stump appeared fresh and clean cut. His sandal however let fall detritus from the act it had been used to commit. Satisfied that his lesson had been exemplified properly, he felt it was time to explain. "In a battle where is just as important as when. When you are throwing blows with the intent to kill, they need to be more centered. Your strike pattern was spread, and while it would damage a wider area on the body it is less likely to be fatal. Your speed was excellent, as was your delivery. I want you to work on your precision though. Lastly, next time practice on myself. You keep cutting down trees and we will have angry villagers to deal with next." He had shown the ability to perform the technique, but Turpis wanted mastery from him. Power was only useful when one knew how to properly utilize it.
                                                      (Dynamic Action)(1/1)

In the palm of his hand still sat the wrinkled sheet of paper. In the flurry of his kicks it had remained still, as did all of his upper body. His control over his body's motions was due in part to years of training, and the fact that his bone structure was practically non existent. If he so chose to he could easily turn his torso one way and his legs the other. That, unfortunately, would most likely freak people out so he avoided that. Now that he had finished displaying to his student the form he wanted him to work on, he was free to focus on that tiny sheet of paper. Focus he did, as his attention was drawn to the lonely sheet. His chakra began to flow as a change in the paper took place. Not composition or texture, but shape was altered as the page seemingly folded itself in the palm of his hand. His cheeks rose and his eyes crinkled, clear indicators that the Mizukage was smiling beneath his wrappings. While the technique was small in comparison to what he could and had done, it brought back a deep sense of nostalgia from days he could not seem to remember. The origami butterfly flapped its wings a few times, at which point it took off and began to flutter about much like the being that it represented.

Tomiji watched the Mizukage as he struck. He moved with a speed and precision that no normal human could move with. He was starting to notice that something was off with the Mizukage, almost, inhuman. The young ninja wished to pursue the issue, to find out how and why he could move the way he did, but pushed the thought from his mind. He shouldered his pack and started walking again, satisfied with their short break. He slid a small scroll he had kept in his pocket and held it in his hand for a moment, before tossing it to the Mizukage.

"It's the first stage and a brief summary of the Mirror Image style, if you are interested." He knew the Mizukage wouldn't be able to pass up such a style, and didn't wait for a reply as he set off at a brisk pace down the old country road. He looked up, taking in the sights and the sounds of the country. Here and there, a farmer tended his fields, and a merchants wagon would pass by, and life went on, unaware of his or the Mizukage's presence. At times, he envied the simple lives these people lived, going about their routines day in and day out, but that was not the path he had set before himself. Tomiji's fist tightened and he sped up a little bit, intent on completing his mission. No one should have to live in fear of bandits who took what they pleased, and he would be the one to pass judgement on those who lacked the power to face those that could defend themselves. In his mind, these bandits were a lower form of scum. Scum that needed to be erased.

Another scroll slide from his pocket and he unrolled it with care, like the last. It seemed to reek of booze and was stained all over, as if it had been used as a coaster at a cheap bar. Smudges lined the scroll, but it was still an easy read for someone used to learning from scrolls. It detailed the simple and basic starting style for the Kusagakure Taijutsu, Ippin Seichuu Sanji. It was a style that focused on precision. Slowly, he read over the basics and thought back to the Mizukage's words on the importance of precision, determined to show him he had what it took to accomplish it.

Tomiji removed a small length of wire from his pouch and used it to bind his own wrists. As he walked, he began to mix in a series of jumps, spins, and all manner of acrobatic moves, using the wire to prevent the use of his arms to balance. Almost immediately he felt the strain on his legs, but it was a simple task for one so used to using every muscle of his body. [1/1 Stage 1]. Leaving his hands still bound, he began to shift his focus from control, to power. He jumped higher now, and would leap further through the air, all the while trying to maintain his control. The wire now dug into his wrist wraps, but still held, and he continued to rely on his legs and the rest of his body for his balance and control, growing better and better the more he worked at it. [1/1 Stage 2]. He then slid his hands from his bindings and replaced the scroll and wire in their respective pouches. The sun seemed to be drawing down and the sky was starting to darken. He would need his strength for the coming fight after all. He rubbed his wrist and checked his wraps, satisfied that the wire did little to no damage to them.

To properly learn this style the practitioner is forced to learn it the way it was made; while handcuffed. Normally during all of the spinning, constant movement, and acrobatic attacks the practitioner will want to flail out their arms in an attempt to balance themselves but with the handcuffs in place this becomes extremely difficult and very impractical so it forces the practitioner to learn how to balance themselves without their arms and hands. Not only does this require extreme precision and lots of practice it also demands a high amount of leg strength to perform properly but it is also because of these demands that the style itself becomes truly powerful.

Stage 2
Genin

Dakai Ni
Still handcuffed the practitioner switches his focus from controlling his movements and making them precise to making them much stronger. The practitioner learns to use gravity to their advantage and make their leg into a lever in which they place all of their weight onto creating leg strikes similar to that of a guillotine. Along with these stronger strikes the practitioner continues to strengthen their body so that it can deal with the complex system of movements that the Ippin Seichuu Sanji provides.

Turpis was overtly distracted by the butterfly that had been constructed through his own functions. His eyes were trained upon the fluttering sheet of white as it flapped about in the same manner as a true butterfly. He had kept in pace with Tomiji despite the fact that his gaze was upward bound. This was because the butterfly was providing him with a very crude manner of communication. When it altered its flight plan, he would alter his path and unknowingly avoid small objects that were on the dirt road. To onlookers he would certainly look daft with his eyes to the sky when so much was occurring down below. His observation of the butterfly was not all tactical however. He found the butterfly to be a metaphor for himself. As it fluttered about in its lonesome, he was reminded of his own lack of affiliation. While he was head of his village, he had no family, no clan. There was nobody to explain to him why it was that thread laced his flesh and decorated the interior of his form. Nobody to tell him why it was that he could fold paper in a manner that was nigh upon masterful, without having any training in such a craft. Who would he have been if he had such people to connect with? Would he have been able to have stop the attack? Would he be stronger for those bonds, or weaker? All of these questions crossed his mind as he stared at the butterfly. It was a rustle of movement at the edge of his peripheral that would return his attention to ground level. The butterfly would continue to flutter on, traveling above the road without any further purpose.

With reflexes that were rather mundane for someone that trained within the Mist, he snatched the miniature scroll out of the air. While it was highly unlikely that scrolls were raining from the sky, Turpis checked above himself to insure that it wasn't raining scrolls. Sadly, no such occurrence was taking place on this day. This meant that the scroll had most likely come from Tomiji. The Mizukage turned his head to face the male, which made for a moment of eye contact as Tomiji explained what was contained within the scroll. Turpis was compelled to give a word of thanks, however Tomiji left no opening for the pleasantry. As abruptly as he had produced the scroll he had quickened his pace and was well on his way as he covered ground on the old country road. Turpis was not one to weigh down the group by being a slothful companion. With a stride that was entirely too long for one that carried the weight that he did, he too quickened his pace. A moment after Tomijji had headed the duo with his acceleration, Turpis was once more right beside him. This was to much comedic effect as he had his eyes glued to the unfurled scroll as he strolled alongside Tomiji. His posture granted a distinct lack of bob which made for an easy read as he kept pace with Tomiji. His eyes reproduced the rapid movement from right to left as he began the process of reading the scroll whilst conceptualizing the information that was contained. As it was only the beginner technique of the fighting style it was an easy read for a practitioner of taijutsu like Turpis. Even with a portion of his attention dedicated on not barreling over any villagers he still managed to commit the teachings of the scroll to memory.

His mission was accomplished and he unslung his backpack from his shoulders. He placed the scroll within a side pouch and proceeded to sling the pack once more. Contained on the scroll was the first stage of the Mirror Image Style. It was the first step in learning the style, and Turpis sought to master it along with the rest of the style. From what he had learned from the scroll the style relied heavily upon chakra control. It was ironic really. Taijutsu users were crappy with ninjutsu when it came to chakra control, but in terms of their own body they had near limitless potential. He gave an audible chuckle at the irony. He began to focus his chakra through his legs. The side step would require speed in addition to precision. While he was only practicing, he had to mentally gauge his own strength. If he stepped too far he could ruin an opening created by the very technique he was using. He stopped in the road, allowing Tomiji to gain some ground as he practiced a different style altogether. Turpis knelt and jabbed his finger into the dirt. He began to draw a circle in the dirt, four feet in diameter. He stood in the center of the circle and closed his eyes. His legs were poised and ready. In his mind's eye he saw a kick being thrown from his right. It was to the right side of the circle that he stepped, with speed that was unnerving even with his natural speed. For a split second he caught sight of his after image. With a rare opportunity presented to him he kicked through the formless being. He exaggerated on the follow through of the kick and spun himself in a one hundred and eighty degree arc. He could now see Tomiji more than thirty yards down the dirt road. He had accomplished learning the first stage.(Mirror Image Style:Stage One)(1/1)

He broke into a run, a motion that would put most shinobi's sprints to shame. He returned to Tomiji's side in the span of two seconds. He had returned to see that Tomiji was practicing a style that required a binding of the hands. The mere concept gave the Mizukage encouragement to update regulation in his holding cells. If one can still cause a ruckus whilst bound in such a manner, it was best to find a new way to bind them. The style intrigued the Mizukage, however he had not seen enough of it to fully understand the mechanics behind it. He was a bit disappointed by this fact, however it did not manifest as a change in his sprightly demeanor. He remained as level as ever, in fact he gave off a very positive vibe. When Tomiji had finished inspecting his bandages, Turpis turned his attention to the male. "Do you have any relatives Tomiji? Any family at the Mist?" Night was steadily falling which meant that their chances of finding the bandit's camp were steadily rising. As that was the case the time for training was coming to a close. The two needed to be in peak form to accomplish the mission. Instead of tiring Tomiji out further, Turpis decided to learn a bit more about his ward. The files back at the office only held but so much information.

Family. It had always been a touchy subject for Tomiji. Most never asked him and he preferred it that way, but he felt if he was going to be the Mizukage's pupil, it would be important for him to know such things about his student. "Most of my Family resides in the Leaf Village. However, when I was young, my father left the village, by himself, taking me with him, and he eventually settled in the Mist Village. He never did tell me why he did what he did, nor could I ever figure it out. Then one day, I came home and he was gone. And I was alone in the world. I thought many times of returning to the Leaf Village, but I know it would do no good, so here I stand now." It was in truth, everything that he knew about his family. Even had he left the village, he would have no idea where to go or who to look for if he wished to find his old family. He felt as if he should ask the Mizukage about his family, but he knew better then to ask. The man was an enigma even to those close to him it seemed, and asking him about his family would almost certainly result in an indirect answer that would raise more questions then answers.

His mind wandered for a moment as he kept his quick pace down the old country road. He thought about what his life would have been like had he never left the Leaf Village, or if he had taken action on his earlier thoughts and returned to it, in search of his family. Thoughts such as these filled his head more and more frequently as of late, but he couldn't allow such thoughts to cloud his judgement. He was now a member of the Mist Village and that is how it would remain for the foreseeable future, and he had no wish to change things just yet. Tomiji pushed all the thoughts of his past life form his head and focused on the road and the mission ahead, intent on completing it as quickly as possible. At least that would keep his mind off his old home for a moment longer.

He noticed the Mizukage going through the stages of Mirror Image and almost laughed to himself. His teacher was being taught by his student it seemed. He shifted the pack he wore once more and pulled out a small piece of bread and took a sip of water, just enough to satisfy his thirst and his hunger. It was odd to Tomiji. In all his time walking, he had yet to notice Turpis take even a single sip of water, while this was Tomiji's 2nd in as many hours. Great ninja or not, a normal body would require food and water at some point to maintain peak physical condition and readiness. But the man was old enough to care for himself, so Tomiji did not press the issue with him.

The last rays of sunlight crept over a distant mountain and the sky way growing dark quickly. Tomiji halted and moved off the road into some side brush, motioning for the Mizukage to do the same. He pointed to a clearing well off the main road where a small fire was burning. The men, even at a distance looked rough and up to no manner of good. The carried crude weapons and the smell of alcohol and smoke permeated the air. Several crates could be seen along the edge of the campsite as well. The muscles in Tomiji's body tightened and he prepared for what was to come.

Away from the road, the group of “liberators”, as they liked to call themselves, celebrated from their most recent heist. In the growing twilight, three large bonfires burned away in the center of the camp while six chefs hustled around tending to the food. Three large hogs spun on the spits slowly roasting away, emitting a smell that would make almost any man or animal salivate on site. With the scrumptious smells drifting across the camp, the rest of the fifty men sat in a large circle. Large tubs of alcohol sat on stools behind them and large cups were being passed around to every person. The area soon began to resound with the guffaws of laughter, loud voices declaring victory over the merchants, and an occasional song that would unite the crew of drangy men.

Amidst all the celebration and confusion, there was only a single tent. This tent housed the leader of the group of bandits. His raggedy brown bear came down to the bottom of his neck, and his oily filthy hair hung fell in an ugly brown curtain around his neck. He poured over the contents of a smaller box that he had kept for himself. It held a few pieces of gold and precious stones. Nothing that was extremely good, put possibly worth more than the rest of the crap that they had received. His head shot up and his eyes narrowed as he heard a voice that was out of place. Ripping open the doors of the tent, the leader took three enormous steps before grabbing one of the men by the back on his neck. “What the hell are you doing here?” he commanded as he saw the glass of alcohol in the man’s hand. Ripping it out, he drank the entire volume of it in two gulps before whacking him across the face with the empty wooden container. The kid who was around the age of 18 rubbed his red cheek and could feel his jaw swelling up. “You are on guard duty!” the leader roared at the teen,” So stop being a lazy a** and get back on duty before I skin you alive!” The kid scrambled away as he rushed to get back to his spot. Looking around, the leader made sure that all eight of his lookouts were in their spots. Spaced evenly in a largly circle but within distance to call out of trouble was spotted. Shaking his head he walked back inside his tent, he hated idiots.

Without muscles to fatigue or bones to grow weary Turpis lacked the drain upon his stamina that most experienced through extensive travel or training. As that was his state of being it was uncommon to see Turpis eating more than once a day on a standard schedule. It was even less common to actually see the event as the enigmatic man preferred to eat in solitude. This was in part due to his unnatural body makeup. The moment he opened his mouth tendrils would spill forth and wrap around the oncoming meal, right before disappearing within the confines of his mouth. Such a sight was certain to cause unease in those that witnessed it, hence why the Mizukage hid his mannerisms. This discretion, combined with his training in being a ninja, made his necessity for consumption slim. Turpis mentally took into account that he was made of different stock than Tomiji before he chided him on being frivolous with their rations. While he could go for a couple days without water , and several without food, Tomiji was not him. It was likely that Tomiji was not like him either. Thus instead of reprimanding the boy on satisfying the needs of his body he would train him to suppress such needs. It made one efficient when covering ground and less distracted when on a mission.

In the final minutes of daylight Turpis found that Tomiji had jumped aside into the brush. Considerate of their current objective, he fathomed a guess that he had spied the band of thieves. Upon followed the boy's hand as it pointed towards said camp, Turpis's guess was confirmed to be correct. Even from the distance in which they had been positioned Turpis could spy the smoke that wafted from the bonfire. It was likely that they were cooking a meal from a recent hunt. Judging from the tents they were holed up in the area as a temporary measure. This made it more likely that they had nowhere to store the food when finished. His mind began to race on the implications. He sniffed the air for a minute, catching the faint scent of cooking pork. If this was indeed their meal for tonight, the majority of the group would be passed out before the moon peaked in the sky. Food aside, Turpis also took note of the various light source of the makeshift camp. Namely the bonfire in the center. While the torches would easily be snuffed, he was mildly concerned about putting the bonfire out without causing too much of a ruckus. The bonfire would most likely be dealt with once they arrived, and so he left that a loose end in his mental plan. Now came the relaying of information and command to Tomiji. If they were going to go about this successfully it was imperative that they be on the same page. Turpis inhaled, drawing in the fabric of his wrappings, before letting out a well needed exhale.

"Tonight you take the first step towards showing the world that the Mist is not to be trifled with. Look at this mission not as a simple recovery of lost goods, but as an opportunity to show what is to come to those that oppose the Mist. " His pep talk was short, much like most of his public speeches. He was articulate, yet he preferred to speak through his actions rather than words. The only exception to this trait was his plans. When formulating a procedure for dealing with a mission the Mizukage had a habit of being overly extensive. "Now that that is out of the way, let's get down to business. The group has one major source of light and heat, that being the bonfire in the center of their camp. We take that out and we sow chaos through their ranks. I should be able to take care of that from outside of the perimeter. Your job is to find any lookouts as I am making my way to their encampment. I can't see any in this darkness, but that likely means they won't be seeing me either. If you can find at least four it should be able to disrupt their line of communication enough for us to eliminate the rest with little trouble. By that time they should be preparing for our arrival. " This time Turpis pointed to a rocky outcropping on the far side of the camp. "I will attack from the far side of the camp. That way your approach should be largely unnoticed. When you feel the earth shake, that is your cue to take out any lookouts you see." It was quite the mouthful he had let loose in explaining the plan to the male. He was content with the details of the plan and thus he stood. This was the part that he despised most. The split up.

There was a crunch of a grass and a rustle of leaves. Turpis had swiftly departed from their vantage point in the bushes. Turpis circled the encampment in an arc that never dipped lower than seventy yards from the perimeter of the camp. He maintained this distance until he reached the outcropping that he had pointed out to Tomiji. At this point he slowed his motion, conscious of any disturbances he made that would give him away. He lowered his body as he slowly covered twenty yards under the cover of darkness. He now crouched fifty yards away from the encampment. The Mizukage dropped to a single knee and slapped his palms onto the ground before him. "Shindoryuudan." Chakra flooded from his palms and into the dirt, and the very earth began to tremor violently. The head of a bronze dragon emerged from the ground, casting a small storm of dirt across the camp. The dragon roared mightily, an act that always came with the jutsu. Sadly it was certain to give away Turpis's position. The large being immediately descended back from whence it came, an act that was followed by a series of tremors. Deep below the surface it made its way towards the center of the camp, leaving Turpis exposed for those that could see him.

At the same moment Turpis moved, Tomiji activated his Byakugan, the one thing he could thank his family for. Even with the raging dust storm, he could easily make out all 8 of the sentries circling the camp. With incredible speed he took off from his position in the brush, approaching the first sentry. In the haze of the dust storm, the man would not see him, or the punch that connected with his throat, crushing his wind pipe, silencing him and killing him, as he drowned on his own blood that now flooded his collapsed throat. Tomiji then grabbed his wrist and threw him into the brush, hiding him from sight.

He then took off again, keeping a wide arc and staying clear of the camp, but just within the sand, honing on the source of chakra ahead of him. He jumped up into the air, aiming a spinning heel kick at the top of the sentry's skull, crushing it. He silently crumpled to the ground, dead. Tomiji felt no mercy as he killed the men. They had broken the laws of his country and deserved to die like animals. He spun to see another sentry running over. He must have run over to this one to see what was going on. It was a deadly mistake. As he got closer, Tomiji built a fair level of chakra in his palm. He then seemed to flicker, and appeared behind the sentry, delivering a Hyuuga Air Palm to back of his neck, shattering his brain stem. The pain would be momentary before he died. It was less then he deserved. Tomiji wished nothing more then to make all of these scum suffer painful deaths. He picked up the weapon of one of the Sentries and looked it over. It was a crude blade, sharp on one edge and chipped all over, but it would do the job none the less.

Tomiji took to the trees for his next attack. A sentry had decided to take cover near one, thinking it a safe place to wait out the sand that was now clearing from the camp. "Dammit, I wish that sand had lasted a little longer. He jumped down from the tree, bringing the crude blade in a downward arc, aimed at the neck of the sentry. It sliced into it, slowly, spraying blood. All that could be heard when the sentry tried to scream was a slight gurgle as blood filled his mouth and throat. Tomiji removed the blade and leaned him up against the tree, to disguise the fact he was dead, and to make it seem like he was napping.

He slunk into the brush and continued circling the camp. Most of them were starting to turn to face the now exposed Turpis, it would buy him the time he needed however. He rushed at the next sentry, driving a kunai between his ribs and placing his hands over the man's mouth to silence his screams as he died in slow painful agony. Tomiji stared into the man's eyes, enjoying every moment of his agony. It was the thrill of the hunt that made him feel alive, the smell of blood in the air that was truly intoxicating to him. Some turned to drugs, others to alcohol to fill their needs. But it was the act of taking a life that truly drove Tomiji. Most would call him a monster, but it delivered results, and with these men, he had free reign to make them die slowly. As the last flicker of life left the sentries eyes, Tomiji slid his kunai out of the man's ribs and placed it back in it's pouch. He had taken out 5, only 3 remained.

The next sentry was by now aware something was wrong. He kept moving his head side to side, searching for any other attacker, trying to figure out why a sandstorm had appeared, and why a mysterious man was standing near camp. As his head turned towards Tomiji, he threw a punch at the man's solar plexus, knocking all of the air from his lungs. He then sent a punch from his opposite hand into the man's liver, striking a massive nerve cluster, paralyzing him. Tomiji's hand then went down to his pouch, drawing the same kunai he had used to kill the previous sentry, still dripping with his blood and slid it across the man's throat, spilling his blood across the ground. Tomiji was starting to get bored of these simple sentries and started longing for a real fight.

The next two sentries stood side by side, looking ready to attack Turpis now that they had located the source of the noise and the sandstorm. They stood side by side, weapons at the ready, seemingly preparing to attack at any moment. Tomiji moved with incredible speed, hamstringing both men with his kunai in one strike. They started to fall to the ground when Tomiji brought the small knife in a reserve swipe, almost cutting both of their heads from their shoulders. Each fell to his knees and slumped forwards, blood now dripping from their necks, pooling on the ground. Tomiji then slunk back into the shadows surrounding the camp, waiting to make his own entrance as Turpis had only moments earlier.

Suddenly, the whole world began to shake. The supply crates stacked in a messy wall to one side of the village collapsed, spilling kunai, shuriken, food, and containers of water all over the ground. The tankards of alcohol toppled over, allowing the liquid too briefly flood the area with a centimeter thin layer of alcohol. Embers from the fire scattered and the men covered their ears when they heard bellowing roar of a dragon. Quickly, the fear first felt by the surprise attack and instinct took over. With a mighty bellow, a group of 20 men picked up their weapons and charged over to where they dragon had come from. There, they saw Turpis.

One look at his headband confirmed their thought, this was a ninja. But ninja or not, against their vast superiority in numbers they had no doubt about who would win. Eight of the twenty ran to the surrounding trees and climbed high into the foliage. Once they were in place, each one of them pulled out a wooden bow. Almost immediately after, arrow after arrow would begin to fly at Turpis from eight different directions. The rest of the men stood back, while one of the men among them began to build up chakra. Suddenly among the arrows, several miniature sun like flame orbs appeared. In total, there were about ten. Among the almost continuous down pour of arrows, the ten orbs would weave and bob as they each dove straight for Turpis. Each orb sought the moisture in his body, hoping to rip it out. All at once, the orbs dove straight at Turpis in quick succession one after another. The rest of the men stood back, protecting the controller of the orbs and watching the arrows fall.

Meanwhile, the leader began to organize his men “Get me my guard!” he shouted to nobody in particular. In an instant, he was surrounded by four people. Turning to a woman with light blond hair he shouted “Get me connected to the lookouts, I want to know how many enemies there and where they are!” She put her hands on the lookouts and searched for the mind of the lookouts. Un surprisingly, a few were already dead. She found one and began to speak, but suddenly her connection was lost. The same occurance happened for the last two guards as well. “I can’t keep a steady connection, someone came and killed all the guards.” She focused as she began sensing chakra. “Besides you and the four of us, James is fighting a ninja outside with his shakuton, and there is another large mass of chakra in that general direction,” she said as she pointed to where Tomiji was “That has to be the ninja who killed the lookouts.” The second guard nodded, “I’ll go take care of him. I’ve been craving blood, and his should taste good.” As he walked over, the fourth guard grew paper wings and flew into the air. “Come,” she said to the third guard, “we can provide long rang support for both of the battles going on. Just don’t look at him.” A wicked smile appeared on the third guard’s face, demon wings sprouted from beneath his shirt and he flew up in the air to meet his paper friend.

With a loud roar, the second guard appeared in the general area where his friend said the second ninja should be located. Ripping off his shirt, he exposed the beautiful tattoos that covered almost every inch of his skin. “Come on out and fight you coward!” his tattoos shifted across his body as the bloodlust inside of him grew more and more. “I wanna rip you limb from limb and dine on your corpse so come and let’s make things interesting.”

Under most circumstances being in the line of sight of more than seven adversaries was not a position one wanted to hold. Turpis was not of the usual stock though, and was exactly where he wanted to be. If enemy fire was being drawn unto him it meant that Tomiji was more likely to succeed in his portion of the plan. It may not have occurred to the bandits yet, but Turpis was playing the role of decoy. As most tactician's knew, the decoy was usually used to draw attention away from the pay load. With at least seven men dedicated to the apprehension of the bandaged man, it appeared that his strategy was going according to plan. However, all was not well with the situation. Turpis may have succeeded in drawing their attention, but he still had drawn their attention. Turpis was surrounded and flanked, which meant his lines of escape were practically barred. From what he could see in front of him the men had scrambled into the trees. The acquisition of higher ground was most likely a uniform tactic, which meant that the trees were the least safe place for Turpis to approach. In fact, anywhere on that horizontal axis was unsafe for him. It was almost amusing, the efficiency that the men displayed in setting up a perimeter around the encroaching shinobi. It was this very efficiency that would save the lives of the eight that had circled around him. In the moments that were to come, it would be these men that found themselves clear of the pay load. It was these men that would remain in relative safety when all went to hell for their camp.

Turpis stood in the middle, and for a moment all had been quiet. Then came the sound of bending wood. Tension. Turpis knew that sound. It was the sound of a stringing bow. Any marksman worth his weight would be able to hit a stationary target from within twenty yards, which meant that Turpis would be pincushioned with arrows within the minute if he didn't move fast. Most would have shown duress, or even panic at this point. Turpis was only facetious. He raised a hand and waved to his would be attackers. At the end of the arc of his wave, his fingers contorted into a hand seal. He sunk into the earth with the same speed as someone of his weight would when descending into a pool of water. The barrage of arrows were not likely to pierce the earth in pursuit of the Mizukage, although the flaming orbs were possible candidates for landing a strike upon the highly flammable Mizukage. As he swam through the earth with notable speed, his mind wandered to the last time he had come into contact with fire. He was a chuunin at the time, and had been facing someone with an affinity for the element. He had not been fast enough to clear her fireball and the attack had singed his arm. The burns were severe, more severe than the ones that his team mate had received in the same fight. It was then that Turpis had developed a fear of flames. Nothing debilitating, but an apprehension that made even something as innocent as a campfire seem malicious.

Meanwhile, a good distance away, the dragon still tunneled its way through the earth. The ground still shook violently as its burrowing caused upheavals in the land. This was the payload that had been planned to sow chaos in the bandit's ranks. The ground ceased to shake for a moment, creating a moment of peace for those that had been in the camp. This was due to the dragon poising itself below the fire pit in their camp. It formed a spring as it coiled itself hundreds of yards below the surface. Then it began. The tremors returned violently, contained in the perimeter of the campsite. With a deafening roar the dragon burst through the earth, swallowing the flames and wood that had formed the fire pit. It began to glow in an ominous manner the moment it came into contact with the cool night breeze. Then, there was silence save for an ascending ringing. The air seemed to draw in towards the dragon, and then all hell broke loose. The being literally exploded in the center of the camp. The dragon's mass was scattered through the camp in the form of large masses of earth that tore through tents and shattered the bones of the unwary. The explosion created a flash of light in its detonation, then left the camp in the dim twilight . Darkness had falllen, and now it was time for the monsters to arrive.

Turpis used the resulting chaos for his own blitzkrieg. He grasped the roots of a tree from beneath the earth and pulled himself up to the surface. There was a rustling of leaves and then silence. He had crushed the archer's throat in the palm of his hand, a grip that was capable of breaking solid stone. He did not allow the body to drop. That would give his enemies too much of a notice for his whereabouts. He instead surveyed the area. The trees were heavily wooded, so all of them were prime real estate for their snipes. What he was more interested in was the group that seemed to form a circle around a point of interest. Turpis liked interesting things, and was intent upon finding out what these men were guarding. He dove from the tree and into the earth once more, using his earth military technique. As he swam through the earth he kept aware that he was traveling towards the group. The Mizukage was practically ecstatic. This had turned into a mission that may actually give him some insight into Tomiji's capabilities. If he lived long enough to complete the mission he might actually make it to Chuunin. Turpis had aligned himself below the circle of bandits. His arm burst from the dirt and grasped a right ankle and a left ankle. With a swift yank he pulled the men down to their necks in the earth.

The other shinobi's roar would be his undoing, he had now let Tomiji know that he was coming. In a battle of life or death, surprise was everything and a powerful weapon. While the bandit had a general idea of where Tomiji was, he did not have an exact location. Tomiji looked at him for a brief moment as he pulled off his shirt and regretted it instantly. It was as if the shinobi had blocked his Byakugan. He was now almost as blind as the other shinobi. Almost.

Tomiji thought about just bursting out of the woods at the bandit, taking him down by force using shock and awe tactics, but sided against it. He had lost the ability to use his most powerful techniques just by looking at him. He slid between the shadows, looking for an opening, when by chance, one was given. The giant earth dragon flew from the ground, filling the air with a colossal roar and sending the camp into darkness. It was during this roar and sudden darkness that Tomiji left his cover and charged his enemy. Out of pure instinct, he slid into the Mirror Taijutsu stance, creating two after images of himself, who charged right at the foe, while the real Tomiji delayed his attack by a half second. The two images drove straight at the shinobi, while the real one jumped up and aimed a powerful downward heel at the bandits skull. In the darkness, the movements would only appear as brief shadows to him, moving at great speed, with little chance of him telling them apart. Tomiji also began to build chakra throughout his body, readying for his next attack.
