Nicolette was still kind of in shock that someone else was going to give her a pokemon. So far, the only ones who'd given her a pokemon were her parents when they gave her Epona years ago - all her others she'd caught herself or found with someone else. No one had caught one specifically to give to her, as it sounded like Shoyo had, given he said he'd release it if she didn't want it. Want it she did, though she wouldn't receive it for a bit given the fact Shoyo had caught it in Makko. In the interim, Nicolette spent her time training her pokemon, worked on the conditioning Shoyo had taught her, as well as practiced with the ball he lent her, and finally, baking cookies.

Upon receiving another message from Shoyo, Nicolette hastened to pack up the cookies she'd made before running to change her clothes she'd been baking in - regardless of her efforts, she still smelled of baked goods - and then left her house with a bag across her shoulder. It didn't take too long to arrive at the pokemon center Shoyo had asked to meet her at. A quick glance around her showed her that her friend hadn't arrived yet - likely due in part to her arriving early - and so rather than go inside, she moved to a bench nearby to (eagerly) wait outside instead.

The trip back from Makko had been as loooong as the trip there, and Shoyo, who had easily grown restless, was glad to be back in a place where he could stretch his legs. First things first, though: He had a Luvdisc that belonged to someone else, and he wanted to hurry and get it transferred into its proper trainer's possession so they could start training together as soon as they liked.

It wasn't too far from the bus station to the pokemon center - Shoyo would have liked to run, but he was still a little sluggish from being trapped in one place for so long, so he made the trip at a brisk walk instead - and he raised up his arms and waved them broadly back and forth when he spotted Nicolette waiting outside, "Heeeyyy Nickyyy! I'm back!"

While she waited, Nicolette idly watched all of the various people pass by, trying to see if she could spot her friend. As soon as he began waving energetically she saw him, and thus thankfully wasn't startled when he called to her. "Hi Shoyo!" She replied as she bounced to her feet and hurried to greet him in a more appropriate distance than way down the sidewalk. "How was Makko? Did you have fun?" While she did at one point early on in her stay travel around the entire island of Kodo, that had been early on, and ever since she'd spent the vast majority of her time in Camphoreon, and possibly visited Makko only once or twice. It was a quaint little town though, from what she remembered.

"Yeah! There was music and everything was all decorated and there were a whooole lot of people!" he described, energizing easily from the company of a friend. "It was awesome, like the summer festivals at home! Oh - and I met someone who wants to play volleyball with us!" He extended his arms straight up as far as he could reach. "He's huuuge! He'd be unbeatable as a blocker!"

"Ohh... That sounds like it was a lot of fun!" Briefly she wished that she had gone too, but no, she'd had too much to do here in Camphoreon, so it was good that she hadn't gone. The news that he had found someone else to play with them gave her pause, and her eyes widened as her lips parted a little. "Really? Ohh he sounds perfect!" She exclaimed, her small hands balled into fists in her excitement, boosted by Shoyo's own energy. "So that means we have - ah - half a team now? Don't teams usually have six people?" Was it six, or was she remembering the wrong number? Oh, she hoped she wasn't misremembering.
PostPosted: Tue Sep 02, 2014 6:38 pm
"That's right!" he confirmed, nodding enthusiastically, then paused to elaborate. "Well, six is how many can be on the court at once - if the team has a libero, generally they'll have seven regulars on the team since the libero switches in and out a lot - but yeah, we've got half a team already! If we can find three more, we can do 3-on-3 matches!" He clenched his hands, his entire posture tight with excitement and anticipation. Three people, three people... Maybe he could ask around at school or something?

"Oh yeah," he suddenly remembered the reason they'd met up, "the heart fish! Here it is!" He reached into his bag and extricated a pokeball from its contents, presenting it heartily to Nicolette with a wide smile.

She beamed happily at the confirmation, quite pleased with herself that she'd managed to remember the correct number, and nodded at the explanation. It would be wonderful if they had more than enough people for a team, but right now, just having three - or potentially having three - instead of two was a huge plus. "Ohh, that sounds like it'd be so much fun!"

Talking about volleyball and their potential third teammate had pushed out thoughts of the luvdisc quite effectively, and she suddenly remembered it with an "oh!" as he pulled out the ball and offered it to her. "Ohh, thank you!" She said gratefully as her hands covered her mouth for a moment before moving to accept the pokeball. It still touched her that someone would catch a pokemon to give to her. "That was so kind of you," Nicolette added, and with that pressed the release on the ball. The flash of light from it faded and left a small pokemon in its wake, sitting on the sidewalk in front of them and blinking up at them a little confusedly. While it got its bearings, Nicolette knelt down, pulled out her pokedex, and as soon as she pointed it at the water-type, a plethora of information about Luvdisc appeared on the screen. "It looks like she's a girl," she announced after a moment, and peered up at Shoyo excitedly, "what do you think I should name her?"

Shoyo immediately positioned himself to hover over Nicolette, studying her pokedex and watching how she interacted it and what kinds of information it had. A real trainer's pokedex... That was really cool. He wondered if he could get one if he transferred into the pokemon course at school.

"Huh? Oh! Hmm..." A name, huh? Shoyo crossed his arms at the question, thinking through whatever ideas came to mind. "Uhh, I don't know... If it were me, I'd probably use something like Valentine, ooorr..." He tilted his head back and forth, humming in consideration. "Or Matsuri or something? It means 'festival' in Japanese, but it's also a girl's name. Or maybe something to do with hearts or love or pink? Or something that'll surprise people when you call her out for a battle, like, like... Destroyer!"

She barely even noticed he was hovering over her until they began discussing names. Maybe he was interested in seeing the luvdisc? But he saw it when he caught it for her, and who knew how many times he let it out since then... Oh - maybe he was looking at her pokedex? In case he was, she shifted a little so he would be able to see it better. "Oh, that's cute," she said, turning to look back at the luvdisc as it continued to peer up at them. "Ah.. Matsu-- Mats.. I don't know if I could pronounce that one properly," Nicolette admitted as a blush bloomed over her cheeks, and for the time being gave up attempting to pronounce Matsuri. Destroyer? "O-oh, I don't, um, really like that one.." That definitely wasn't the sort of thing she'd name her pokemon. Her little brother might, perhaps, but he wasn't interested in them.

He laughed lightly, "I know what you mean." Though English was his first language, he'd grown accustomed to Japanese pronunciations and had a hard time with unfamiliar words, especially names. He crouched down with a thoughtful hum, placing his elbows on either knee and resting his chin on his hands with his gaze fixed upon the Luvdisc. "Hmm, well, she's really cute, right? So maybe something like Sweetie or Lovie ooorr... Or Summer, 'cause it's summer!"

"Oh! Hmm..." She trailed off, humming idly as she deliberated on this new batch of names. Sweetie was out of the question, as she tended to call some of her current pokemon that sometimes and having a pokemon with that as an actual name might get confusing. The other two, though, had promise, and she liked them both. Lovie was the cuter of the two options, in her opinion, while Summer sounded more... mature? Yes, that was a good word for it. Though, given the cute shape of the pokemon she was attempting to name, perhaps a cuter name might be better... "I think.. I like Lovie and Summer, but I'm not sure which... Maybe Lovie? But, hmm.." Why did making decisions have to be so hard?

The luvdisc in question continued to sit there and watch the two young trainers curiously, though the intensity with which they both stared at her was starting to make her mildly uncomfortable, and she endeavored to look at other things instead - with 'other things' meaning 'anything and everything else that wasn't these two.'

"Lovie or Summer, huh...?" If it were his choice... Well, he probably would have gone with Matsuri, and it wasn't his pokemon anyway, so it was hardly prudent to imagine it as his choice. "Oh, I know!" His attention towards the Luvdisc changed from one of scrutiny to one of amicability. "What do you think - which would you prefer for your name? Lovie," he held out his right hand to be representative of the choice, then held out the left, "or Summer?"

"Oh, that's a wonderful idea!" Nicolette said suddenly as Shoyo addressed the luvdisc instead, so she, too, turned to watch the little pokemon with rekindled excitement.

The luvdisc's attention snapped back to the boy as he suddenly spoke to her and held out his hands, though she didn't really know what he expected of her. She made a soft noise and watched them instead, not moving one way or the other - perhaps because she didn't mind either name.

"You don't have a preference?" he concluded from the lack of a response on the Luvdisc's part, his head dipping to a side in confusion. "It's your name, you know? It could be 'Lovie, use Water Gun!' or 'Summer, use Water Gun!' - they're pretty different. Do you not like either?"

The luvdisc in question frowned and began to get somewhat flustered, unsure how to respond. Her ambivalence didn't mean dislike, but she wasn't sure how she could convey such a thing to a pair of humans.
