'Who knew that our journey would take us to places long forgotten to the history of the world? Our only knowledge in our books is that this was once ruled by the Kairnah, an ancient race of reptilian beings known for their ability to control the very world s strings with their minds. They could bend reality to their will, and with it came their ultimate downfall as they tried to play god in a godless world.

...The translations here speak of a paradise... Something we have been searching for. It seems we are close...'
The expedition stopped, pausing, sweeping their torches about to see into the darkness around them. chittering could be heard from insectoid like creatures. The eight drew their swords, dropping their torches simultaneously, shields closing into a wall formation. Nothing would get through their defenses.. Unless it came from below. Mandibles shot out from the earth and dragged the warriors beneath. Blood stained the ancient walls and cries for help called out as another group fell to the dangers of the mountain's city Do'Naglas.

The world is dying, humans have retreated to a small valley encompassed by mountains as their last bastion of hope. The darkness has yet to breach the natural walls of the world, and so a world has been constructed relying on these walls of nature. Life is short however, the city that sits nestled in this crater is full of despair, starvation and hatred. The city streets are littered with corpses and disease spreads like the same famine that brought it. The royalty barely hold control of the city, their advanced technology is their only tool that allows them to keep control of the city, as people fear being shot down from the strange weaponry that slings invisible projectiles. A flash is all you see and then you are dead.

In an attempt to calm the citizens the king called for an expedition through the mountains. Any brave enough to travel through the mountain and then return would be greatly rewarded. Five hundred volunteers made a call for arms and so the First Expedition began. The ancient gates that were made from the stone of the mountains opened to reveal the darkness far below. The expedition marched into the darkness and the gates closed behind them. Two years later the gates opened once more, only twenty had survived. They did not want a reward, and they acted like they had seen the ghosts of their ancestors. They were given proper food and shelter, but they soon died off by some mysterious disease. Only one survived, the youngest, a boy that was the age of twelve, barely old enough to carry a sword. He disappeared into darkness.

Five years later, the boy appeared at the steps to the castle, grown and hefting a sword meant to be carried by three men. He marched up the steps and pushed the doors open by force, the invisible arrows plinking off of his armor like they were small pebbles. Speaking to the aging king he demanded he be allowed to take another expedition into the depths of the mountains, as he had seen a paradise for their people, but they would need to push back the darkness in order to advance towards this new world.

The king agreed out of fright, and he sent out for another rally. Few answered. One hundred came to the call, the weakest, the starved, and the decrepit appeared. The boy chose one from the crowd. A girl his age. He moved down the steps and people parted like a sea before him as he towered above the girl. The man took off his helmet and revealed silver hair and orange eyes, slits for pupils like that of a cats. "You are my chosen companion. You are not the strongest, or the fastest, nor the smartest in this crowd. However you carry with you the Light of Purity as I once did. Only in the shadows will it shine, and we will be marching into the darkest of shadows." He then turned to the king and spoke freely, not bound by the law. "By the time we return, your crown will have fallen from your head, and the people will be in despair. The only way to stop this is to share your weaponry and knowledge with the citizens. Arm them and train them for combat, and when we return, we will bring purity to the land once more, the shadow expelled from the world. I promise you this upon the ancient scriptures buried below."

The two departed, once more the gates opening before the two. This is where their journey began together. A journey to a world of salvation in a dying world.

The Three Heroes

"The Iron Clad Warrior"

User Image

►▶▸ в α s ι c s

Full Name :: Borian Calistan
Nickname :: "Wolf"
Age :: 17

►▶▸ α ρ ρ є α я α и c є

Height :: 6' 7"
Weight :: 270 Ibs.
Hair :: Silver
Eye color :: Orange
Details :: Borian is a giant of a man, unnaturally tall and a wall of straight muscle. His face is chiseled, the color always shifting around the slit of his irises. Underneath his armor and clothes is a body covered in scars and bite marks, as if he has gotten into fights with beasts of indescribable proportions, the flesh is puckered and marred from piercing, slices, and blunted blows.

►▶▸ є q u ι ρ м є и т

Abilities :: Demon Blood- Borian is infected with a corrupted power and if he drinks tinctures made out of parts of his enemies and his own blood he can gain different temporary abilities, though they are usually of a healing type.

Demon Eyes- Borian can see in the dark and has the ability to sense danger in whatever direction he is looking

Guardian Spirit- Borian is able to come to the aid of his companion whenever he considers her in great peril. He can receive killing blows and continue onward until he knows that his companion in safe, which he then succumbs to his wounds, although he usually drinks one of his many potions to keep himself alive afterwords.

Mental Fortitude- Borian is much stronger than the average human, both physically and mentally. With it comes the ability to travel great distances without fatigue and spells that influence a person's mind have little effect on him.

Iron Vanguard- Borian makes sure he is always the first into battle. He is able to leap great distances and attack very quickly despite the lack of mobility to evade attacks, usually dividing an enemies formation in two to allow any allies he has to come and further disrupt the enemy.

Weapons :: Borian's two weapons are his Iron Zweilhander and a Mithril Zweilhander, both of which are on his back, he only uses one at a time. The Mithril one has yet to be drawn on humans however, and has left many people wondering what exactly it is meant for.

Weakness :: Borian's weakness is his mobility in battle, as he is slowed down by the great plates he carries. Speed is given way to defense. He can't use magic either and relies on his alchemical skills in order to mimic spells.

►▶▸ ρ ι я ι v α т є м α т т є я s

Personality :: Borian is the silent guardian type. He doesn't talk much, but he is always watching out for danger and is the first to step into the line of fire if it means protecting others. He also doesn't like to show off and is very shy when it comes to intimate matters. When he does talk however, he is often thought of as distant.

History :: Borian was the only true survivor of the First Expedition. It has also changed him in some way, but no one knows truly how, other than he seems to have no fear of the darkness that is slowly eating the world. Before the First Expedition, Borian was simply another urchin scavenging the streets for what scraps he could. He never went hungry, as he was always a step ahead of his competition and with it came great animosity. He learned how to fight by he was ten, brutally killing others that got in the way of his food. He had no qualms with it, and in fact, he once led a small group of bandits that had stockpiled food. When the bells rang for the First Expedition, Borian saw a way to gain more power and so he took it... Whatever happened to the expedition into the mountain changed Borian into a vigilante haunted by the past.

►▶▸ є x т я α s

Secrets :: Borian carries a small pendant with the words 'Madeline' engraved into the gold. He often has the small locket in his hand while walking.

"The Wielder of Light"

User Image

►▶▸ в α s ι c s

Full Name :: Soleil(So-lay) Redynvar
Nickname :: Red
Age :: 17

►▶▸ α ρ ρ є α я α и c є

Height :: 5' 6"
Weight :: 120 lbs.
Hair :: Blonde
Eye color :: Blue
Details :: Soleil is of average height and weight, she doesn't stand out much from the crowd except for her more cleanliness appearance she maintains. She's what most would expect of the richer, a dainty lass with a gleam in her eyes.

►▶▸ є q u ι ρ м є и т

Abilities :: Heal - Soleil can remove minor wounds and even disease. She has taken many years to master this ability, though it requires the use of light, living earth, water or even herself to supplement this spell.

Moving Mountains- Soleil and shift small fragments of earth in a desired direction, usually removing or creating obstacles (this ability hasn't been used nearly as much, and requires more practice).

Calming Rhythm- Playing a melody can often calm aggression whether they wish violence or not, though it can't guarantee a sleepy beast. The harp will play its sounds, but as the melody becomes right the tune will strangely become more magical with additional sounds to enchant those around them (whether it's real or an illusion to the ears, it isn't known).

Guidance- Communing with nature, no Soleil doesn't really talk to trees. From time to time if she finds herself lost she can turn to nature in its purest form for a sense of guidance (usually which way to go, or to take a second look at something). This ability gives her a connection to the spirit that she had encountered in the past, though it's very rare for her to actually willingly obtain information as she cannot turn this ability on or off. It's what allowed her to learn the three previous spells.

TBA -

TBA -

Weapons :: Soleil has a iron staff with a fairly small harp like instrument attached at the end. The strings are extraordinarily durable, likely from the staff being an enchanted one.

She also has two bracelets lined with two different gems. One bracelet contains jade while the other contains sapphire, these gems contain special properties that allow Soleil to concentrate her magic(the brackets being the medium) into and can hold supplements of the light, earth or water to be of use later (they can drain and will require recharging from one of the four sources, the fourth being herself).

Weakness :: Soleil is fairly average, the only thing standing out being her rare magical abilities. She isn't very strong, nor very fast. She can be over powered and out ran easily, even out witted. It's merely all luck for her, which has been on her side for a good while.

►▶▸ ρ ι я ι v α т є м α т т є я s

Personality :: Soleil hasn't changed too much since she was a child. Despite those that have tried to harm her, and those that have tried to help her she is only just a little less naive. She is a bit jumpy (especially in the dark or thunderstorms), and often asks or tries an easier way to do things if she believes she can (kind of whiney and cries from time to time). She is a loyal, kindred soul no less and will ease the pain of any soul (evil or good) if they're right before her. She's the average individual that is absent of vices, some would describe her a bit dense and spaced out though smart enough to be a doctor.

History :: Soleil didn't live in prosperity or poverty in the valley, fairly decent in the middle. Her family was a clinic, though that worked to provide medicine and care (often for the more poverish). Her father was an alchemist and her mother a herbalist, using their knowledge together that had started this clinic. She was the youngest of four brothers (two twins). They were all a help to their family and the clinic. The economy was on a downscale though and she had left with one of her brothers beyond their safe walls into the mountainous areas to look for herbs. They were separated and she returned, having met Borian on her way home

She was lost in the lower part of the area with a small bag of herbs on her. She was tricked, threatened and possibly almost killed until Borian had taken and defended her. He returned her to her side of the city in exchange for her findings. In her eyes he was a horrifying hero, she didn't go seeking him since then. She returned home safely, empty handed, and her family was relieved.

The expedition came, her father and one of her brother's had left with the many others. When they returned only her brother had made it, but died later of disease. When the town was abrupt with the survival of Borian, she was no different. She wanted to know like them, but he had left leaving the city confused, angry and sometimes even silent. The five years had changed Soleil, she had made her own expedition into the forest for herbs once more when the economy wasn't providing again. She had lost herself to the wilds for the day, though fell upon a strange, beautiful spirit whom accompanied by a man.

The man was fairly old, too old, to of lived as long as he had in the forest. He was kind though, and provided her with the magic to help those around her. The spirit had healed her wounds and he had provided her with the bracelets and staff, though sent her with little knowledge on how to make use of them. She returned, herbs included, to her family to continue on with the business. The knowledge had slowly came when the time was right
.

Since the years passed she had harnessed what magic she could and traveled inch by inch into the wilds on her own more and more to provide better medicine. Borian had returned though, drastically different perhaps, but he had returned to what changed Soleil's fate. Despite her brother's arguments and their defense she packed her things and prepared herself, still holding doubt to this expedition.

►▶▸ є x т я α s

Secrets :: Soleil has two red markings in a line by her spine, each mark a runic symbol that was carved by the elder man she had met long ago. She keeps this secret to not worry others, as she sometimes uses her own blood and life to perform emergency spell uses.

"The Archer of Twilight"

►▶▸ в α s ι c s

Full Name :: Kaska Adulfen
Nickname :: "Fenrir"
Age :: 19

►▶▸ α ρ ρ є α я α и c є

Height :: 5' 8"
Weight :: 135 Ibs.
Hair :: Golden
Eye color :: Ocean Blue
Details :: Kaska is very handsome in the form of his gentle features, he is a stark contrast to the battered and beaten Borian, and his eyes have a look of playfulness and mischievousness in them at all times.

►▶▸ є q u ι ρ м є и т

Abilities :: Fading Shot- Kaska can fire off an arrow as he jumps away, granting himself temporary invisibility as he jumps away. He can use the ability multiple times in succession as long as he angles for a backwards leap.

Whispering Wind- Kaska has extremely fast reaction times and can easily dodge blows in both a melee and ranged duel while using his bow to fight. If he is disarmed of his bow his dual blades allow him to change his fighting style to one where he slides past blows to get in close and to the enemies weak points.

Dark Skies- Kaska can fire an arrow that is magically enhanced to multiply into a hail of arrows on the downwards arc, effectively blotting out the sky and killing a massive area off at the same time. If he fires it on his own position, the arrows can strike where he is, but he can easily dance in between arrows with his melee or ranged weapons.

Assassination- if his enemies do not know he is there, or are sleeping, Kaska can eliminate his foes without allowing them to react.

Strike of Twilight- In ranged form, this attack can pierce through multiple enemies in a line, causing an explosion for each body it passes through. It takes a while of charge up, but it is deadly once released. In melee form, Kaska fades in and out of vision as he dashes between injured enemies. He uses his Assassination ability in conjunction with this ability to slay many enemies at once in the blink of an eye, leaving after images of himself for a short period of time to confuse enemies as to which one is real.

Weapons :: Longbow and Dual Shortsword's

Weakness :: Kaska can never deny a woman, and their allure leads him to many awkward situations. He isn't a player, but if they welcome him with open arms, who is he to refuse a beautiful woman?

►▶▸ ρ ι я ι v α т є м α т т є я s

Personality :: Kaska is very playful for the most part and easy to get along with. He doesn't see the prophecy as a be all end all solution and takes the lazy way out for most things. Kaska can get serious however when people he cares about are threatened or can be threatened by some sort of indirect consequence of his actions. A man that has seen war and survived, he knows what it takes to survive and does the minimum of what is necessary of him to take.

History :: Unknown by Main Characters

►▶▸ є x т я α s

Secrets :: Kaska has a dual role with the Child of Light. Not only is he supposed to fulfill the role as The Twilight, but he also believes that he must play the part of The Lover.

Borian, The Iron Clad Warrior

"The Light of Purity is all that will save us."

Borian looked at the city gates opening slowly. Five years it had been since he had stepped outside of the city and into the surrounding valleys. The age of seventeen and the man was already a towering giant among men, his height enough to scare most people out of their boots, let alone his black armor that was seemingly invincible to the weapons of the kingdom. He looked over at his expedition companion and spoke simply. "This is the last chance to see your family within the next year or two. Say your goodbyes and then we will depart." His voice echoed from within the helmet, amplified by some sort of device within. Where his eyes were to be instead a red glow shined and after a moment of holding still, Borian twisted and started to lead his pack horse away, the rumble of a titan fading away as he walked.

From within the helmet, the scanners and monitors checked the air and situation around Borian quietly "Air is fine, no hostiles within the area either... Can't believe I'm taking this trip again. Luckily I know what's out there, and I have the 'Child of Light' with me this time. Just got to make sure she isn't corrupted like I was and we should be fine..." He turned back to look at his companion and the scanners switched to a new layer, the device whirring to life into his ear. Wisps of light flickered around the girl like a protective aura. Everyone else around here had one or two at the most and he already knew what he had. Borian had a single dark one floating about and it would cross his vision every once in a while. It was the reason why he hadn't died off to the disease the first time. His last white one had turned as black as ash and had made him immune somehow. Borian didn't bother with the specifics, nor did he care. He simply knew that he couldn't let the ones floating around the girl turn to the same tar color as his. He had already witnessed her replenishing of the white spirits once which was why he had selected her instead of the other volunteers.

"... I will keep this maiden safe until we reach our salvation."

Soleil, The Wielder of Light

User Image They were all surprised that he had returned, she wasn't any different from the crowds. She was more surprised on how much he had changed, physically obviously. She wasn't sure how many remembered the younger boy that had left years ago, but Soleil had remembered him before he left for the first time. He had changed, for better or worse she couldn't really judge on that matter. She went to the expedition, not to volunteer, she was merely apart of the crowd that wanted to see Borian and the new soldiers off. She wanted to know what was going on and what was going to happen, perhaps he would give the citizens an idea of what was out there since he left them with a heavy cliff hanger.

The crowd started to split though and in the distance she Borian's height allowed her to see that he was moving through it and looking for someone. She was some what stepping aside with the others since he was moving her way, but stopped directly in front of her. At first she was trying to move over a little more to let him by, but he continued to face her and she realized his demonic eyes were on her. His gaze, his height, and his words were enough to make her heart sink the deepest she had ever felt. "W..what?" she whispered softly though he continued to turn and speak to the King of their fate. Her two brothers that had attended with her had some opposing words to this quickly, but the King and some guards were quick to silence them.

She had left to prepare since that moment, wearing lighter cloth and leather clothing with a cloak and a pack for her basic gear. There was a lot of things to say between her siblings and mother, but time wouldn't be able to really express all the things they wanted to ask, say and answer. They could only really relish and accept goodbyes, aware there wasn't a whole lot of promise of return. They wanted to opt for her to stay, that Borian was as mad as he looked, but there was doubt to both arguments. If she stay she'd possibly face ridicule among the royals and citizens for her selfish cowardly nature. Another part of her believed there was a chance for paradise and if she could bring that for her family, then this life would be more worth living than it was now. Life here with them was poor, but they were happy with each other. Could it be enough for her to stay? Memories of the impoverished spoke more, regardless she had to leave.

She walked with her family to the gate to meet Borian there "It's still unsettling to see him like this..." she's had enough time to get used to who this person was, but it was hard to really match up when it came down to his size and the tensing atmosphere he provided "I..don't think I can really hide it." thinking to herself, she was right in the sense that she had a large smile on her face while approaching him, a very nervous one as in hopes not to offend him and cover her fear. As he mentioned their departing "Two years!?" she'd turn, not embracing her family this time, but leaving with a nod, a smile, and for added measure a thumbs up. She'd turn to face Borian again, ready to say more confidently that she was ready, but instead she reverted back to that awkward smile and saluted "I-I'm ready!" she informed. Course, that was a lie, there wasn't enough years to really prepare her for this. She treated this much like a band-aid...just shut up and do it.

"The Light of Purity is all that will save us."

Borian only nodded at her strange salute. "Remember, we are equals, not a commander and subordinate. Speak freely." He was at least kind enough to match her pace. They were quickly outside of the disease ridden city however and as he continued to walk, the huge gates ground against the earth and made the world around them rumble. After a moment of silence of staring at the gate Borian turned once more and walked towards their first goal, the largest mountain that surrounded this last kingdom of mankind. "Mount Do'Naglas is our first destination. We're going to travel through the old city there and get to the other side of the mountains. Then you will see why I was silent for all of those years. What you will see will turn what you know of the world upside down. After all, it was what killed one of your brothers, and your father, which I am sorry that you lost. Your father was an honorable warrior in battle and the leader of the army of five hundred until he fell." What exactly was Borian talking about, and why did he speak as if this world that they lived in wasn't real and instead a figment of his imagination. The forests and fields that surrounded the kingdom were just as dreary as the city itself, and Borian barely took the time of day to look at the surroundings, as he knew they would be safe for a while longer. It wasn't until they reached the true wilds that he would have to look after his companion.

The giant warrior reached into a hidden compartment and pulled out a small vial of purple elixir. He looked at it quietly and then muttered about how the mixing process didn't come through and he would have to try over again. "Damn, the Nighstalker eye wasn't crushed well enough... It seems my bloods toxins burnt away the good ingredients. This Cat-Eye elixir is worthless." Borian emptied the contents quickly and then slipped the vial back into the same hidden compartment on his sleeve. "Your father, he was an alchemist correct? Did you learn anything from him?" A rather strange question considering what he was just doing. Perhaps he was going to ask her about something relating to it? Of course, what the hell was a Nightstalker anyways?

"... I will keep this maiden safe until we reach our salvation."

Equals was probably an exaggeration, there was know way. Perhaps from a simple point of view he was about four of her, her smile had dropped though and she became just a inch less tense at that statement. Could she really trust those words? She felt so, she could trust a lot of things though and choosing what to not trust was often more difficult than it should of been. She looked behind them to stare at the gates, the rumbling giving her a feeling of closure. She only felt a tad sad. She had been outside the city before on rare occasions of desperate material search, but this sensation simply felt different.

He spoke of their destination the mountains beyond, "The way he speaks freely of those men..." she didn't finish the sentence in her head, she was more wondering how she knew her father. Of all the men, did he remember each and every one of them in their honor for their sacrifice? Despite his kind words, she felt unsettled, the loss of her family was still a lasting sting regardless of the years that had passed. It was the first time she understood a heart break, and wondered why pain of the soul didn't heal like that of the flesh.

She looked at the vial that held a hue of purple, she couldn't really say what a Nightstalker was, or what a cat eye elixir did. "Yes , but Fyn and Jin learned more from him than the rest of us did. Dad was more focused on medical remedies, though from time to time there were special requests from the higher ups." she mentioned. "Borian..do you remember everyone you went with on the first expedition?" asking, she felt it was important to really know. There was a lot she wanted to ask, but she didn't really know where to start. It was hard to take in that her father was a leader of five hundred, she could only imagine sitting with him to chuckle over that kind of title. "I don't really know where to start honestly...or why it's me, I'm glad you're talking again, even if it's jibberish.." she muttered the last part. "I'll be honest though...I'm a little afraid to see what silenced you." she had to mention, there were still a lot of unsures in her head.

"The Light of Purity is all that will save us."

Borian kept in silence for a moment before speaking. "I... I... I remember four hundred and ninety-nine of the five hundred.... One of them is a complete mystery, I cannot remember his face or voice at all. For example I remember Farkli's voice. He was a blacksmith, an ox of a man with a gentle heart. He always talked about how he would return to his family when the expedition was over and show them the world... He fell to 'The Reaver'. The man wielded a great axe he forged himself and was one of the first to charge into battle, always the last to leave it..." Borian's voice had gained a distant quality to it, like he was remembering something that was extremely foggy and he was trying to push through the mire of details.

Borian returned once more, his distant voice gone."Being afraid of the unknown is what has trapped humanity in this wasted canyon. It's good you know some alchemy, it will prove useful in the days ahead. How is your ability with a sword or dagger? I see you carry a staff as well, do you know how to use it? Your armor, it's very light weight, do you know how to dodge effectively and tire your opponent out before yourself? Do you know how to maintain metallic weapons, craft improvised tools and materials?" He suddenly launched into a series of logical questions. Borian had the feeling that maybe it was obvious he was trying to avoid the question that she had asked him. Or maybe it was that he was afraid of trying to remember the last one that he said he could not remember.

"... I will keep this maiden safe until we reach our salvation."

She listened to the short sweet life of Farkli. She didn't know who he was, surely many others did from his services, but she did not. Even if it was a simple story with an obvious tragic ending, she liked it. She felt a bit better to know that Farkli existed, even if he didn't get to go home, and that Borian remembered him. It was a feeling of ambivalence that has been with her more this day than any other.

As he commented about the unknown a voice that wasn't her own echoed within her heads "That isn't true.." though she couldn't be sure. All the factors that had trapped humanity where it was, she felt there was more to it though perhaps Borian was right. There were more afraid of the outside than she was, whom had traveled outside with a few of her brothers from time to time. Fighting, a bit of a new subject, he wanted to know her skills. He apparently already analyzed her weapons and the way she was dress, blushing mostly from her mind holding a blank to these questions that were bombarded "A-ahaha.." she chuckled nervously. "You see...well, I ...well you ...I haven't really changed much since.." she paused, trying to contemplate the words she wanted to say. "You said it yourself, I'm not the strongest, fastest or smartest...and it's true, but..." she admitted, muttering a bit at the end, not really minding that she was just about average.

"My brothers fought a lot...I had to wrestle them for my staff back...in the end, I guess I don't know much...but if I have to go out there then I suppose I should learn...this road trip was a little unexpected, I could of prepared better maybe." she said. She could think of some instances where she could move quietly through the forest to avoid danger, and sometimes swiftly, and even had the reflex to protect herself with her staff once. Did such skills stay with her? She didn't know, she had little confidence in combat "I kind of know a spell." she'd mention in her train of thought. With the appearance of Borian though it would seem like he could be a human shield for her, perhaps they could just try not to confront much...but he wouldn't be asking these things if that was even a possible chance in hell. "Don't be lazy..." telling herself, she'd speak up and out towards him "Dual me, show me what you can do and teach me." more sincere in this request.

"Sadly I will not be able to help you with magic as I use alchemy to mimic spells instead, I learned from your father, I think he knew a lot more than he let you guys believe... At the time it was essential to our survival to have as many practitioners as possible, and so we worked with what we could. I am not expert at it but I have the fundamental's down." He was surprised that the girl wanted to learn so quickly about combat. "We won't be facing any danger for at least one night, so when we stop to set up camp I should be able to teach you a tiny bit. I will teach you what I can, but due to the difference in our equipment, it will be difficult to teach you properly... I have been practicing for fiver years in this type of armor and these weapons, I almost forgot what it's like to wear such light armor and not have the protection of this equipment. Again, all I can say is that I will try, I do not guarantee success." He looked to the horse and reached into one of the many carrying sacks it had, pulling out a fresh apple. It was best if they ate the fresh stuff as fast as possible. "Would you like one?" He asked simply, reaching up and pressing a button near his neck, the helmet letting out a hissing sound as the equipment from within deactivated, the seal releasing itself.

Borian reached up and pulled the helmet away, setting the thing on the top of the saddlebags of the horse, making sure it was secured in a place where he could see it. His cropped white hair glistened in the midday sun, his orange irises spiraling as the slitted pupils adjusted to the light, shrinking into thin lines that were slightly more broad near the center of his eye. The sclera itself shifted slightly in color, like a secondary iris, for now it was like a spinning galaxy. His face was marked with scars made by creatures not native to the world that Soleil knew of, not yet at least. For the most part it was ruggedly handsome, a silver outline of beard showing up like a glistening shadow. The most pronounced scar was over his right eye, and it was shaped in the way where if you followed it, the thing would look like talons scraping across his face to pull the eye out, three lines above his eye, two below at angles to get a good grasp on it. Borian brought the apple to his lips and bit into it with a juicy crunch. Despite being a giant, silent man for the past five years, Borian could enjoy the simple things in life, and this apple was one of them. It was fresh after all, and that meant it was rarer than most other fresh foods.

She didn't really expect him to be able to help her in magic, she could barely help herself in that. Would of been nice to spend more time with that old man, but she was unable to find him or the spirit regardless how much she looked. She wondered how alchemy was so important to their survival, she could take a few guesses, but it seemed like having the biggest sword was more efficient out in the wilds. She could trust that Borian knew best. For the rest of the combat, well she knew she couldn't expect much, but somewhere in her ideal of training she just wanted to learn how to survive something like Borian "I'll have to think of something..." an idea spurring, shaking her thoughts when offered an apple.

She looked over at the hissing noise, his helmet coming off "Where did he get that armor?!" it was more advanced than it appeared on the outside, and it was already mighty enough. She got a good look at his facial features, and of all the new things about him her mind had physically spoken itself whilst pointing towards him "He's got a beard!" though her other hand was already clasped over her mouth to muffle a decent bit of the noise. She could reason that it wasn't a full fledged massive beard, but it was still there. She was quick to speak some more "I'll take an apple." upon his offering quickly. Once he'd given her the apple she'd nibble into it before asking some questions "So...your hair's gotten a lot lighter...and your eyes too...what happened?" she asked as she walked along. She could of asked more reasonable questions possible "Where did you get that scar? How'd you get so tall?" though the changes in physical appearances just seemed rude all together. She recalled how she rarely ever finished her meals, much less something simple like an apple.

"I am a man you know... Of course I would have a beard." He reached into the same knapsack he had just gotten into and pulled another apple out handing it over to Soleil. "Hmm? My hair and eyes? That you will find out in due time. The simple answer is that I'm no longer human. Or at least, I wouldn't be considered human by most standards. I still have the will of a human and the physical appearance of one as well... For the most part. I guess my first change were my eyes. I can see in the dark like a cat, and I have an enhanced sense for danger. Wherever I look, I can simply tell if we are going to be ambushed or not... A helpful ability. If I am blinded however, I can't use the natural enhancements my eyes bring." He chomped into the apple again, and this time it was more than evident that his teeth were very sharp, and many were no longer flat, instead they had taken on the shape of small razors.

They arrived at the first fork in the road and he motioned for them to go left, towards the forest. "Well, this is the last time you will see the city that is your home. Before we continue further I will ask you this. Do you have any lingering attachments to this place? The probability of us dying is pretty much guaranteed. I'm working off of a plan that has a success rate of less than a percent. This is your last chance to turn around, and I will not hold it against you if you do. I will travel onwards by myself and try and bring about the change to this world as a one man army, however it will be much harder without the aid that you will bring. That hidden potential locked away inside of you is what I need the most." Borian's face had changed from it's cold exterior to one that was soft with understanding about leaving the one place you called home for perhaps forever, never to see it again. "When we left on that expedition, we didn't expect to come back in all honesty. The twenty of us that survived were surprised. We vowed to keep silent about what we saw as it would lead to hysteria within that city. If any of the others tried to speak, we were to kill them... Nineteen tried to speak, and one by one they fell to a 'disease'. Expect the same on this journey, if we survive but do not accomplish our goal." Borian had just openly announced that he had murdered his old companions to keep a seemingly silly secret, even Soleil's brother.

Man was possibly an understatement, though he admitted to not really being human anymore either. Learning of his abilities and talents would be useful and figured she should tell him more, though by time he comes to teach her then she could show him. She gazed back to the city, the chance of survival low she could already figure, but if she were to return then it possibly wouldn't accomplish much. "I'd just live on, fixing the same sick man until I die away as well..." thinking that perhaps paradise will bring a better future for all that riddled with disease. She looked up towards him as he said he needed her, what potential she had her expression said that she was willing to give it her all at least.

At least until he told her about the first expedition, how they were sworn to silence and the reason to why. Admitting to murders instead of disease and that he would do the same if they had failed their mission. She wasn't sure what to really say, the shock in her eyes and the increase in her breathing was enough. Her first reaction, she chucked the apple at his head as hard as she could. She wasn't sure what was taking over her, he was taller than her and she couldn't properly punch his face, she settled for his arm "You b*****d!" she'd yell, angry she felt rightfully. It was hurting, emotionally from him and physically from his armor. She'd stop punching him after she felt sore enough on her knuckles, backing away from him with what felt like betrayl "That was Jin! You took him, you took all those people.." she stated, though it was obvious because he did admit it. She wanted it to really resonate with him. "You were the last one, you were supposed to be the one, everyone was looking for you!" she stated, tears she couldn't really fight. "We were waiting for you...we were desperately waiting, you kept us waiting. I still believed in you, but...you..." she turned to head in the direction they had intended to.

She was covering up most of her face with her arm, trying to let it resonate, perhaps not truly understanding. She knew she definitely couldn't go back now "Why did you tell me, why now? When given the option to go back, is this so I wouldn't go back?" she asked without much of a glance, wondering what sort of mind game he was playing. Perhaps she should be grateful that he could trust her with the truth, but it still hurt. "I'm sorry." unsure to what she was apologizing for, really she wanted him to be able to trust her with the truth in hopes that he could trust humanity with it in the future. She repeated herself "I'm sorry." though this one wasn't completely directed at him. "I tried so hard to save him" memories of staying up night after night with Jin, time she couldn't go back to. She always wondered if there was something else she could of done, a different remedy, read a different book instead for the answer, but in the end it would of been futile. She felt angry at the idea for Jin talking if his life was on the line, the damage it had caused Fyn. She was even more angry that those that returned didn't trust humanity, but Soleil never traveled too far from her side of the city to see what all of it was truly like either.

"You came back though, you came back and I don't know why. You believe there's a chance, but you can't even believe in the people. What did you lose in those five years?" speaking through muffles, trying to pronounce herself correctly through her shaken emotion she wanted to remember what he'd say now.

"The Light of Purity is all that will save us."

Borian was silent, the apple hitting his head didn't bother him, people felt angry when such facts were revealed, it was true. "Do not apologize. You have no reason to apologize. If either of us were to apologize, it is to be me. The option for you to turn back still exists, as our journey hasn't begun. Not truly anyways... The punishment for speaking was two fold. The first was death... If they survived the 'disease', then they were to take this expedition. They would have had the same silver hair and slitted eyes. I too, tried to speak out, and I was silenced, but the only one to survive our punishment." Borian moved forward to keep pace with Soleil and put a large, heavy, metallic hand on her shoulder, but even though it was heavy, the touch was gentle. "I know you tried hard to save your brother. I watched from the shadows. His chance of survival was greatly improved due to your efforts, whether you realized it or not, but in the end, he made the choice to let go. Perhaps he was supposed to be The Seer, and he saw that this was our destiny."

Borian was silent for a small while as she asked what he had lost. "I lost my faith in humanity as a whole in these past five years. There are no redeeming qualities of our race, but I know it is my duty as a part of that race, and as a survivor of the First Expedition, to try and lead us to a paradise. It's simply what I must do." Borian then walked forward and continued to eat at his apple. Three bites in and the thing was practically gone.

"... I will keep this maiden safe until we reach our salvation."

She had a lot of mixed feelings, that was apparent enough, even in his attempts of comfort it still didn't ease the truth. Truth was hard, necessary, but hard. She shook her head when the option to go back was available, she needed to see this for herself too. She wouldn't be able to really live not knowing what had affected her family. She'd follow after him , mostly remaining behind at his flank.

"You say you do this because it's your duty for the race, a race you have no faith in. Yet, you spoke kindly of Farkli, and my family. You remember 199 of them, their qualities are worth the remembrance. You knew they were good people.." she felt strongly enough about it. "Survival is low, yet he's still doing this...he can't really mean that." she felt that some where he may of cared too, to bring paradise to the others. "You have the freedom to do as you wish ,right? But you came back." yet she wasn't sure if it was enough to stop being angry(and confused) with him. There were too many factors to take in, she couldn't suddenly hate him, but she couldn't stop being angry towards him either. She wanted him to believe in her and the people they were questing to save, she wanted to know what changed his flesh. Time would possibly mellow these sensations out. She wanted to hit him again, but that wouldn't do anything, yet she wanted to be grateful at the same time. She felt closer to feeling like an equal to him now. He wasn't really human anymore, but he was still imperfect like one also. She wondered how much of that disease has taken away his humanity, if it was still eating away at him even.
