"Welcome to the Haunted House." Ripley said quietly, even quieter than usual. Even the stoic man seemed a little more on edge in this place, as if he were automatically expecting the worst possible outcome. They had exited the portal only to find themselves in a dark room; a literal dark room, where strands of drying photographs draped from the ceiling like garland, and tables were littered with used and half-used utensils.
"The rooms change constantly." He explained, unhappy with this patrol duty, and unhappier at the always changing part of this damned house. "So don't try to map it out. You'll lose." He had tried, several times, and each ended in failure.
Wilhelm had already been drawn before they even stepped into the portal, but now that they were out, the sword was held a little more defensively.
"Just...keep your eyes peeled."

"I'm not so sure I like this place," Chance said, casting a glance around at their surroundings. His companion for the day was definitely reassuring, but the place they were in was definitely not. It looked somewhat similar to the back room of a creepy stalker, the photographs looking horribly reminiscent of those crime scene shows that had been on TV.
"So...less haunted, more like not-so-funhouse," he said. "Got it."
He kept relatively close to Ripley, his bow and arrow drawn, his fingers wrapped around the familiar weapon. Asher was a reassuring weight in his hands, their cool, metallic feel reminding him that he wasn't entirely useless in such a place. Chance's eyes narrowed slightly.
"That was always such a weird phrase to me," he said, slowly looking up and then down, in case their was something lurking in the room that they couldn't see.

She didn't feel like hiding today. She didn't feel like lurking somewhere in the tree's outside, perched or leaning against a tree, waiting for the chance that something might wander out into the open, giving her the opportunity for a swift and surprising strike. No, today she felt like being just a little more proactive than that. Today she was content to roam the halls of the haunted house, whatever fog that remained drifting around her ankles, calling to her though she had gotten used to ignoring those particular whispers.
Eventually, she heard sounds. It was never a for sure thing, with this house. It may have just been tricking her. Still, there was no reason not to check it out. Bare feet creaked quietly against floorboards, her wings folded in neatly behind her. Sharp eyes darted from side to side as she rounded corners, and every time she thought that somebody might be found only to be greeted with nothing.
Eventually, she began to hum to herself as she moved around, not caring much if anything should hear her. A song of her own people, not something that would likely be recognized by human or Halloween ears. There were times when the volume rose, and times when it quieted.
Eventually it cut off abruptly. She could definitely hear them now, talking, walking the halls. She rounded yet another corner with her short sword in hand, her eyes narrowing, her wings half extending behind her.
And when she saw who it was, or at least, who one of them were, she smiled.
"Oh. Hello." She practically purred. "I see you brought a friend to play this time. Unless, of course, he is meant to be some kind of sacrifice....?" A hopeful lilt to her tone, a baring of teeth as she grinned a vicious grin, "Not that it would do you any good." And then a bark of laughter, before she simply waited to see how they would react, and what they would do, her own body poised and ready for battle from the get go.

Poor Chance; he'd probably be more firm on that vague hesitance in a little bit. Then again, he figured, the universe loved to prove him wrong.
"Haunted not-so-funhouse." Ripley corrected, still mildly grumpy over having to be here in the first place. He was sucking it up though, and trying to squah his own distaste of this place for Chance. After all, he had heard some Hunters had mostly decent encounters here.
"I like the imagery." Peeling eyes and all that. It was amusing, because it just couldn't happen; unless you counted the eyelids, which he did not.
There was a creak to his left, and Ripley spun to face it, sword out and ready. As a certain Horseman rounded the corner, he was more than glad for his rather jumpy response; this one brought up horrible memories, and a dull ache in a matching shoulder and arm wound that had long since scarred over. His stomach lurched and he felt sick, but outwardly, he gave little change; he looked just as disgruntled as he had been before, only this time, his body was a little more tense.
"Hi." He said slowly, giving him a chance to gather himself for what was about to happen. As she brought up Chance, he gave a small side step, putting himself between the woman and the trainee. He glanced back at the other man before his gaze slid back to the Horseman whose face and blade haunted his dreams.
"Well, aren't we friendly." Ripley said, his voice clipped with false pleasantry. "Have we met?" He laid it on thick then, and even offered her a cold smile.

"Just a basket of fun and happiness and good energy," said Chance, in a relatively cheerful sounding voice, though it was clear it was meant sarcastically. "But hey, look, at least there's two of us here; you said the last time you came, you were stuck by yourself, so there is that, at least."
It wasn't that much of a positive point, but it was better than nothing. He made a face at the peeling of eyes imagery, casting a quick, amused grin in Ripley's direction before he heard it - the creaking of a floorboard, the unmistakable sound of something rustling - and an unfamiliar, cold voice that echoed throughout the room.
Chance twisted around, and there was something there - a woman, or at least, the appearance of a woman, towering and Amazon-ian in appearance, and he could almost feel, rather than see, Ripley stiffen beside him. Chance's fingers curled a little more tightly around the bow, an arrow already notched in place.
The entire room felt tense, almost vibrating with the thick energy between them. Ripley had manuvered himself carefully between Chance and the creature, and his voice was as icy as Chance's weapon, short and clearly angry.
He said nothing, merely waited with slightly gritted teeth, his bow and arrow poised.

Her dagger was already starting to glow as she lunged, but that glow grew brighter and brighter, as if the blade were somehow lit up from the inside with firefly's. It was a dull yellow light, but it was bright all the same, the power of her own Fear imbuing and swirling up the blade. She ducked away from the swing of his sword, and drew her hand back, ready to strike.
The arrow took her in her shoulder. There was pain, instant, cold, piercing, and she hissed, her hand dropping down as she leveled wild golden eyes set in darkness on the second hunter. The blade lost it's glow, flickering out and leaving it a usual steely grey.
She wondered, briefly, if perhaps she had bit off more than she could chew by taking on the two of them, but that thought was quickly brushed away. She was Shaheen, a former chieftain yet still elder of the war clan, and the harbinger of destruction. She needed no help in taking out two weak, pathetic little maggots such as these.
She bared her teeth at the one with the bow, a growl tearing from her throat that would have made her mount form proud. "Do that again, you worthless sack of human flesh, and I'll tear the meat off of your bones to roast over my campfire tonight."

She was hit, once with a sword, and again with an arrow, who's icy sting still sent shivers down her spine. The sword had taken her against her ribs, the arrow again in her shoulder, though slightly lower than it had been before. She let out a loud, frustrated sound at the second hit, but nothing seemed able to keep her back or down for long.
Her eyes were practically blazing, the golden growing bright as she raised her dagger for a second time, it's blade beginning to brighten once more. Reaching behind herself, she pulled out a second sword, this one longer, thinner, it's handle set in a rainbow array of distortion crystals. Leaking from a cracked blade came wispy tendrils of grey, fog to match what shifted away from her wings, and what swirled around on the floor.
She lunged, and this time she would not be stopped, as she bore down on the white haired hunter with not just one weapon, but two, a back hand slash driving first the glowing blade home, followed by a quick stab with the second.

Ripley paused his forward advancement when he saw her reach behind her to pull free a glowing blade with strange tendrils.
One he recognized a little too well.
He froze, amber eyes with dilated pupils trained on the blade that gave him his matching shoulder and forearm scars. The blade that had ripped through flesh and bone as he rose his arm to defend himself from her. This time, he noticed too late, it was heading somewhere a lot more dangerous; his ********>!" Wilhelm managed to stay in his hands as not one, but two daggers slashed and stabbed at him, severely damaging his shield. He coughed, an uncomfortable choking noise that was nothing more than his body trying to figure out what was going on. Spots of red began to darken the lighter parts of his shirt and eventually the red of his coat, seeping for a moment before the shield stopped it, trying to save the wielder. When he realized that he was still standing, and still felt okay; that his shield held up and kept him alive, he was unable to resist the sigh of relief. He shivered with horrible memories now momentarily survived, but he was relieved nonetheless.
Enough to swing Wilhelm again, another wide arc in an attempt to force her back and away from them.
"I'm fine. Keep attacking." His reassurance was delivered in the same, harsh tones he gave every day; the order was nearly barked, as if he were afraid that the attack on him would affect the Trainee somehow.

"RIPLEY!" Chance shouted, but it was too late - she was too fast and too angry, and although he leapt forward, his reaction time was slow. The creature's sword flashed through the air - two of them - and the next second Ripley was staggering where he stood, red blossoming across his chest.
One of Chance's arms was outstretched towards the other man, in mid-motion to grab him; and now his hand wrapped around Ripley's upper arm as Chance stared at his pale face, trying to pull him back a few steps.
"Good," he said, and smiled; an attempt at lightening the otherwise dire situation. "I still owe you another drink, don't I?"
He let go of Ripley's arm and strung another arrow, shifting his body a few inches to the left of the other man. Lifting his weapon, Chance narrowed his gaze, trying to fix a better target - but the release was too quick, and the arrow jerked a little too far to the right, barely grazing the creature.

Another hit, and it was clear now that he was stronger than he used to be. It wasn't just the addition of a second hunter. So, when she dug in first one blade and then another, it was with a great sense of satisfaction, the blood that seeped from wounds a wonderful, metallic scent that filled the air, one that was filled with his Fear. It was so incredible, she breathed in deep as she was pushed away by his blade, and let out a long, loud laugh, her wings beating behind her, lifting her just inches off of the ground.
She barely even noticed the arrow that grazed her this time as she landed several feet further away from where the two of them stood. Smiling, she straightened, her insanity sword going back to it's sheath behind her, her usual short sword held straight out to her side, dropped, unsummoned.
And then she began to shimmer, her body changing, mutating as she fell to all fours onto the ground. It was a golden yellow light that infused her skin, a burst of light and suddenly, Shaheen the horsewoman was no longer there.
In her place, instead, an incredibly large lioness with the same markings, the same feathers tucked behind one ear, the same glowing golden eyes set in black orbs, wide, wild.
A snarl tore from the creatures throat as she yawned her mouth wide showing off teeth that were impossibly long and sharp. Claws dug into the wooden floor, splintering beneath her paws as she flexed, and sprang forward.
Her teeth and claws both began to glow, not yellow this time, but white, hot, bright, like the human world sun. Her eyes were only for Ripley, though she promised herself the other one when she was through tearing this one apart first, when she left him completely incapacitated and only able to watch while she turned on the other.
She lunged, front legs outstretched, ready to wrap around him, to dig in, as her gaping maw closed down around his shoulder and bit down, hard, hoping to taste some of that blood that she'd already spilled.
