By now Ray knew the woods and mountains by Sagestone pretty well, through the number of times she had ventured into them, she knew were certain territories of pokemon lived, she knew her way around fairly well without a compass and map, and of course, she had already located an idea spot for when she spent her days off roughing it in the woods.

Over the years she had slowly set up a makeshift shelter within the woods, giving her a small nook to come back to whenever she had the chance.
It was a nice excuse to get away, and recently she had a lot of reason to get away and clear her head.

Things were more simple out here, you worked most of the day, simply to get yourself through the day, and the only company she had, was the kind of company that she preferred, with her pokemon friends.

Between Sagestone and Sadelwood, as the trees started to get thicker and taller, Ray had discovered a small clearing, with a circle of trees, to the east the mountains could still be seen poking out over the top of the forest, giving her a good center of direction.
Three of the trees in the circle were already much larger then the rest, given its species, more commonly found in Sandelwood then Sagestone.

It took some time to clear out and level the ground of the clearing, but as she was finished, it provided a nice place for her to make a small habitat for herself and the others.
The trees helped to keep Havoc in, or at least discourage him from running off on his own, though recently she hadn't needed to worry much about that.

about a quarter of the way up the tree, a good seven feet off the ground hung a solid platform that had been built up around the trunk, giving Ray a place to sleep off ground, providing her with more protection in the night if she so chose to do so. More often then not though she would just as soon sleep on the ground with the fire.

The Pokemon who chose to live with her were by now pretty used to this life style and like her found it a great way to get away and enjoy themselves. Double Stripe especially loved being in the forest, Where he declared himself king of the tree tops! much to the annoyance of the wild life in the aria.

It was a cool afternoon, a definite reminder that the colder seasons were quickly approaching them, if the fact that the forest was not bright orange and red as apposed to the usual green.

A tall women, her ash gray hair pulled back behind her head to free up both eyes sat int he clearing by a fire, leaning back against one of the larger rocks that she had dragged into the clearing to serve as sitting stools, one long leg crossed over the other propped up knee. She sat in silence as she carved away at a thick stick of wood. passively tending the fire that was flickering away sending the wafting scent of cooking fish up into the fall air.

By her side a Pikachu sat curled up in a nap, while further down that clearing a large black stallion stood grazing slowly.

Double Stripe paused up in the stree tops, his long body draped along in smooth curves along the branches as he look a moment to glance back, wide eyes at one of the stubby arms he had poking out of his 'shoulders'

Ground level, a thin bug looking pokemon gave a chuckle that had the sing of metal, large black and green eyes turned up to the treetops where the snake pokemon was blended in much better then he was normally in the colors of the season.
she replied sarcastically.

The Scizor clamped her claws shut, and crossed them over her chest, around her neck she wore a decorative metal brace, that dipped down over her chest, embedded in the brace was some kind of bright jewel with a number of colors.

She asked with a less then enthusiastic tone.

Double Stripe retorted, his head suddenly popping down from the treetops, bright green eyes seeking out the newest member of their team and frowning at her.

Emith, having spotted the head peeking out at her gave a cocky smirk, and with a sharp sing of metal against metal whipped her wings up across her body.

Double Stripe puffed up his cheeks at her display, flustered before his head disappeared again

Emith snorted again

Food hadn't been a problem since the Jolteon had found his way to the forest; there was an overabundance of prey animals that were dumb and easy to stalk and catch. It didn't taste especially good, perhaps, but it was suitably nutritious for a pokemon of his variety and easy to obtain, so he couldn't complain. Or, rather, shouldn't complain, but nonetheless he was beginning to feel just a bit ornery. The Jolteon rather missed prepared foods and seasonings and variety and he especially missed sweets. There were berries, sure, but it wasn't the same by a long shot.

Naturally, though, that wasn't any kind of reason to go home. Heck, he probably couldn't have gone home even if he wanted to at this point; he had chosen completely at random when selecting a ship upon which to stowaway and a port at which to disembark, and he didn't really know exactly where he was except that there was a town and a long road and a forest. He was here for good so long as his trainer didn't track him.

Still, the food thing was a bit of a bother, and the scent of cooking fish was something like a siren's song to the white Jolteon. He weaved through the trees, following the smell with curiosity and carefulness, paying sharp attention to his direction and the strength of the aroma. The first thing he noticed were the pokemon pair - trained, by the look of them. Keeping watch for intruders such as himself? Not by the sound of their conversation. Still, picking a fight didn't seem quite prudent.

The Jolteon unabashedly strolled into the campsite, disguising his keen caution as cuteness and defenselessness and regarding Ray with innocent interest. Humans tended to be weak to eeveelutions.

It wasn't unusual to have visitors come wandering into the camp, there were in fact a few faces that Ray was used to seeing from time to time, and they never unwelcome.

Breeze was the first to react, his ears twitched and his head jerked up from where he was using Ray's side as a pillow. He could feel the kinetic change in the air as a fellow electric type stepped into the clearing.
The motion caused Ray to glance up from the word she was carving, and over to the newbie.

"Huh!" She grunted, her long legs kicking up as she pulled herself into a proper sitting position, sending wood shavings flying from where they had been collecting on her chest.
Her half lidded green eyes widened a little, as she fixed the pokemon with a broad smile and lifted her arms up into the air, her carving knife still held in one of them.
"Well hi there! Good afternoon and welcome to camp Best Around!" She paused to glance behind him. her arms dropping back down to drape across her lap as she arched a notched eyebrow at the white pokemon. "Jolteon don't usually run around wild in these parts, are you here with a partner?" It looked to be trained at least, and it had a very unnatural color, not quite an albino though.

It wasn't uncommon for the Jolteon to encounter humans who were holding knives and other blades, but he took a moment to remind himself that this one was not being brandished as a weapon - unless this human was particularly skilled at suppressing bloodthirst, but he didn't think himself so suspicious that someone would feel the need to try to deceive him. He wasn't even with a trainer, after all.

Partner, feh. The Jolteon swallowed his disgust at the thought and tilted his head cutely as though he didn't know what the human meant. Playing wild would be easier.

Ray arched her eyebrows as she watched the Jolteon tilt his head curiously.
reaching her hand up to scratch under her chin and considering him for another moment.
"Kodo is just full of surprises now isn't it."

The Pikachu, now up and awake, pulled the long wavy cap he was using as a blanket back over his head, shaking it out before hopping up onto the women's knee and peering forward at the Jolteon.
With a sharp squeak, he officially greeted his fellow electric type.

"I guess this means you're hungry then huh?" Ray asked, making a gesture to the fit skewered up on sticks over the fire. "If I had to guess anyway."

The Jolteon reciprocated the Pikachu's greeting politely, eyeing it with brief but practiced scrutiny. He was fairly confident that he was faster than any of the pokemon there, and even if that assumption was proven false, he could easily enhance his speed with Agility. Escaping wouldn't be a problem if it came to that for any reason. Cool.

The electric-type chirped an unmistakably positive response to the question. Well, he wasn't really distinctly hungry, but it smelled a whole lot better than raw Pidgey, and he didn't want to pass up the opportunity.

"Alright then, if you stick around, once they're done you can have one." she said, but at a second thought the women leaned forward and held up a finger toward the Jolteon. "On one condition!" She started "Once we're done, we're going hunting for dinner, so that means you're going to have to help out. Deal?"
PostPosted: Thu Nov 13, 2014 6:46 pm
Though the Jolteon's outward demeanor changed little, he inwardly rolled his eyes. Yeah, yeah, whatever - not like she could make him if he decided he didn't want to later. If that was the condition for eating something good though, he supposed he could only agree. The electric-type gave an affirmative bark, looking cheerful despite his dubiousness. Hunting, huh? Well, it at least wouldn't hurt to stick around and see what she had in mind.

Ray nodded in approval, reaching up to brush the ret of the wood shavings out of her lap so that she could lean forward onto her knee a little more.
"The names Ray! This here is Breezy, Over there is Havoc, You've got Imp up in the shade somewhere." She added with a careless gesture toward the trees. "And you can probably hear Em and DS going at it somewhere around here."

While Ray herself could barely hear the two pokemon's back and forth, she was sure pokemon with better hearing would be much more capable of picking up the disruption.
Her eyes lidded heavily, the women's broad grin still hanging off her lazy face as mossy eyes studied this curious creature.
"So whats you're name?"
PostPosted: Sat Nov 15, 2014 10:08 pm
The electric-type swallowed the incredulous look that threatened to appear on his face. Was this human some kind of idiot? She wouldn't understand his name even if he gave it. Even an idiot knew that much, though, so she was probably just trying to play nice. Rather than give his actual name, he instead voiced a meaningless bark, following with an amiable greeting (<"Nice to meet you!">) for the sake of looking complacent and friendly to the surrounding pokemon.

For all Ray knew, the pokemon could have given her his name, though the truth of the matter would be that she wouldn't ever really know for sure.
She had spent time seeing if she could possibly understand the language pokemon seemed to have with one another, but it seemed to be a lot more difficult then even she could comprehend.

Language was one thing, but when one had a bond with their partners, you didn't always need words to communicate.
This pokemon however, was one she just met, knew nothing about other than he wasn't being completely honest somehow.
It was at least safe to say that the noise following the bark couple have been a sort of greeting, as usually followed pokemon who had been raised with humans. Wild Pokemon- not so much.

"Its nice to meet you too." She said with a broader grin, her eyebrows arching over heavily lidded eyes.
"So-" She started, reaching out for one of the fish stuck up on a stick over the fire, pulling it out to test if it was ready "Your timing is a bit off, looks like it could use a bit more time."
Sticking it back into the ground Ray leaned forward, draping her long body across the knee that didn't have a Pikachu sitting on it and propping her chin up on her palm.
"Why don't we find something to entertain ourselves with to pass the time, hum? What kind of things do you like doing?"
PostPosted: Sun Nov 16, 2014 8:08 pm
He wasn't surprised that his response was that predictable; he was playing the part of an average pokemon, after all. If not for the other pokemon around the area listening in, he would have happily said what was really on his mind.

He didn't mind waiting - though it was a bit on the boring side - but what this human had in mind for entertainment was... a bit confusing. They couldn't converse; she knew that, didn't she? Surely a trainer, surrounded by pokemon, knew that humans and pokemon couldn't communicate verbally. And besides, what sort of question was that anyway? What kinds of hobbies was she expected from a 'wild' pokemon? Even if he were answering honestly, he didn't really have any particular interests. The Jolteon seated himself on his haunches and tilted his head to a side.

Again he seemed to reserve his opinion, giving Ray the opportunity to come up with something for them to do instead of sharing what he might be interested in.
This was just as well, as it gave Ray a bit more time to play around and possibly learn a little bit more about this pokemon that would be sharing a meal with them.

"Alright." Ray replied, letting off a light hum as she leaned back up off of her knee, putting on a thoughtful expression toward the tree tops before she smirked again at the Jolteon.
"How about this." Ray said reaching off to the side of her to pull up something from a backpack sitting up on the other side of the rock. "a little game of skill."
The older women placed something into her hand, reaching a closed first out toward the Jolteon before letting her fingers open, to reveal a small poke-block sitting in her palm.
"It'll be simple, try and snatch it out of my hand."
PostPosted: Mon Nov 17, 2014 4:25 pm
The Jolteon pulled his head back away from the extending fist, eyeing its contents as they were displayed. Blue eyes studied the trainer, searching for any betrayal of malicious intent. He didn't feel that there was any, but he couldn't be sure that her intentions were completely innocent either. How to proceed, then? He could probably grab the prize easily if he used his full speed, but doing so would reveal that he'd had substantial training. He could play the part of a silly, bumbling Jolteon that didn't have good control over its abilities, but the illusion would be broken easily if he went along with the whole hunting thing later.

The electric-type tilted his head to and fro as if trying to determine what the pokeblock was as he considered his options. Eventually he stood, lowered his front half towards the ground and wiggled in anticipation, then pounced at the outstretched hand. It wasn't his full speed, but it was a dexterity that he felt he would be comfortable replicating if he found his movements under further scrutiny.

With as a predictable a movement as that, Ray was easily able to close her hand the moment he made a move to pounce.
"Awww- come on you can do better than that, you're a Jolteon." she said through a light, though more of delight at the adorable display.

Well this was interesting, she knew for a fact he could do better than that, but he was opting to go a rout that gave her a much easier way of reading him... even if it was faulty.

Once more she opened her hand for him.
"Come on, I won't go easy on you."
