Rocket a stray mutant wolf/dog, was in the form of a German Shepherd/Pit-bull mix searching for food. If anyone knew her they would turn her into the police. Mutants were still being hunted and she was caught in the middle. Luckily, so far, she managed to escape. But no mutant was safe right now.The Xavier institute was destroyed and she was on her own. She was digging through some trash, unaware that she was about to be captured by some people who knew who she really was. She growled as her wolf instincts were taking over, the men threw a net at her, and she stared yelping pretending to be a real dog. The shocks of the net didn't affect her at all thanks to her fur being as strong as steel but she was pretending like it did so she'd be let alone.
Nero was minding his own business, as he lept from rooftop to rooftop, his ears swiveling on his head, wind rushing past them. Landing on a low rise building, about three stories high to be exact, Nero heard the sounds of an animal crying out in despair, so he looked down over the edge, seeing what all the commotion was about. Below, he spotted what looked like a dog caught in a net, a group of people standing near by, watching as the poor creature struggled against the electrified net. Nero knew that wasn't an ordinary dog, most people wouldn't give strays a second thought in this city, so they had to mutant hunters and the dog was probably one. Without a second thought, Nero vaulted over the edge, drawing his odachi in mid-air, before landing in front of the group. Baring his fangs, he took out the hunters with blinding speed, then turned his attention to the dog, cutting the net in a single motion of his sword, before placing it back in its sheath. "You should be a bit more careful, we mutants aren't exactly accepted any more, we're just freaks now." Nero said, his golden eyes looking over the animal, as she pulled the net off of it. It was still electrified, yet he was a manipulator of electricity, so it didn't faze him in the least.
Rocket wasn't hurt but she exposed her real form to Nero. She looked at him, approached him cautiously, and sniffed at his hand, all the while looking up at him with scared eyes and her ears back. Poor thing's heart was pounding as she did this. Her soft, yet steel strength fur was shaking and underneath she was nothing but skin and bones. Her tail wagged a bit at Nero but it was in a nervous way as she sat at his feet. She wanted a home but no one wanted her, especially now.

"Looks like my instincts were right, you are a mutant, which explains why they were after you. I'm guessing you have the ability of illusion, and this is your true form, such a beautiful wolf, yet you're looking a little thin." Nero looked around, he couldn't just leave the poor creature, she'd just be hunted down by another group, plus, he just killed four people. Adjusting the sword at his hip, along with his robes, Nero placed a hand on her cheek. "Come on, girl, we need to disappear from here. I hope you can make the trip out of the city, I live up in the mountains, you should feel at home their." Nero stood up straight, his multiple tails swaying slowly, as he turned and headed down the alley.
Rocket followed him staying close to him in the form of the same dog she was in earlier to hide herself from disapproving eyes. She would growl whenever anyone tried to pick on Nero or her. She didn't have a collar yet but she seemed to really like Nero, not because he was a mutant like her, but because he saved her life and he seemed really nice. As soon as they were out of the city, she undid her illusion before hearing her stomach growl. She'd yet to eat today but was used to going without food. But if she didn't eat soon, she'd pass out from hunger and possibly die from the shock.

Walking through the city streets, not bothering to hide his ears or tails, Nero got a lot of snide remarks from people, which in turn, got growls from his new companion. Holding his hand out to her, he shook his head, "Easy girl, pay no mind to them, they're just afraid of things that are different." He said softly. At the city limits, there was nothing but wilderness beyond, and Nero's home. Ears twitching at the sound of a stomach growling, he knelt down in front of the she-wolf, "Hang in there, in about 15 minutes, you'll have a full stomach, just try to keep up with me." Nero stood up, then took off at a quick jog, leading the way into the woods. Like he said, 15 minutes later, they came to a hidden shrine, which Nero had built to look like a traditional Japanese one. Nero disappeared from sight for a few minutes, then reappeared with a few slabs of fresh meat, he had gone hunting earlier that day, which placed in front of her.
Rocket, not wanting to displease her new owner, sat before he gave her the meat, sniffed at it and started eating the slabs hungrily but slowly so she wouldn't get an upset stomach. She would start working on any bones later but for now, she was enjoying the meat and being with Nero so far. Rocket could sense he cared for her, but she had to wonder if he planned on keeping her. She'd be happy if he did, so she was happy to have found a home at last. Ever since she was a little pup, she'd been alone and it was a wonder she was even alive being alone her entire life. It was also a wonder she trusted humans like she did.

"Glad to see you still have an appetite, can even count how many animals won't eat after starving for so long, it's awful really. Hmm, guess you're taking a liking to me, and didn't plan on sending you away, not with how things are now a days, so how would like to stay with me from now on?" Nero asked her, fishing a headband looking item from inside his robe, holding it in his hand in front of her. He kept his eyes on her, seeing if she would accept his offer, but also looking for a place to tie it around, since it wasn't very big. The only place it seemed to work would be, her hind leg, and he wasn't sure if she would approve of such a place.
Rocket barked before she took the headband looking item agreeing to stay with Nero. Her tail wagged as she nudged his hand onto her head trusting him with her life. She was sure that he was not like everyone else, not because of his mutant powers, but because he was her first owner. Then she laid the headband like item in his hand so he could place it on her somewhere.

Nero smiled, running his hand between her ears, before tying the item to her leg, returning to petting her. "I guess you accept my offer, now, what to name you? I'm thinking Rocket, it's got a nice ring to it, what do you think girl?" Nero asked her, as he sat in front of her, scratching behind the wolf's ears. It was surprising she trusted him so quick, but he did save her and showed kindness to her, that probably had to do something with it.
Rocket jumped on him in excitement for her new name. She then licked his chin happily wagging her tail as she relaxed in his arms. She enjoyed Nero's company. Plus he seemed to really care for her so she swore to herself that she would protect her master with her life.

Chuckling softly, Nero playfully pushed Rocket down everytime she jumped up on him, until she settled down in his arms. Stroking her neck, he wiped his chin with the back of his hand, "I'll take that you like the name, it'll be nice having a companion around here, where it's safer for us. I'm not going to lie though, there will be times we have to defend ourselves, move around from time to time, so keep an eye out for search parties, and try not to wander too far from here." Nero felt like Rocket was comfortable with him, she was so relaxed in his arms, it was like they made an agreement to watch over each other.
Rocket's tail wagged as she felt Nero's hand stroking her neck. She seemed happy with Nero, which she was. Later that night, she was settling down nicely laying next to a chair in the living room by a roaring fire in the old fireplace with Nero. It was quiet, too quiet for her liking. She couldn't shake this feeling that something was going to happen

As the day faded to night, Nero was making a little something to eat, while Rocket laid by the fire place in the den. The night was quiet, but not in it's usual way, he couldn't hear the sounds of the woods around them, that was bad. Nero stopped what he was doing, moving into the den, he picked up his odachi from its stand over the fireplace. "Rocket, I get the feeling we're not alone out here, be on your guard girl." Nero said to her, as he dimmed the lights, so as to not give away the fact that they knew. Around the home, a group of about five hunters was closing in, armed with light arms.
Rocket stayed close to Nero as the men entered their home. SHe transformed into a black wolf before she started growling moving around to confuse the enemy, her loud growl and barks scaring them and making them aim at her position that she was at before she would move before she launched herself at one of the men, biting the man's arm that he was holding his gun with and scaring the other men.
