I have a massive love for the .Hack universe and love the concept of people trapped in a fictional MMO however I have not been fortunate to find any roleplays based on this scenario and would like to start one. This is mostly for all of you out their that have ever seen one of the shows like the newest of its kind Sword art online and thought to yourself what role would I fill in such a world.
Even better is the fact that it is already based within a game so the cheesy over the top stuff that happens just really fits.
Plus you can if you want to be either a character trapped in the game or someone in the real world and play to how this affects you. Either way it should be a lot of Fun to see what you guys come up with.
Plot
The game is not a new game it is called Dreamscape which has been around for a long time and has garnered a lot of love from most of the gaming community the world over. During its 7th year anniversary an expansion was coming out that would see new visual updates new hardware tools to use as interface options and it would usher in a new world of MMO gaming standards. The tool was a optical sensor that would allow you to plug your conciousness into the realm of the game and actually see what your characters life would be like from their perspective. of course fitting to the story it was a disaster that saw people's concioussness trapped in the game however with slight differences from the other anime/manga stories out there. since it was a pre existing game that was adopting new technology not every player that used the game bought into the Optical sensor they thought it would be a headache inducing nightmare machine.
Now the world is in shock as tonight is the night of the unveiling of this new gaming software tool.
This leaves you guys with three possible options you can bee either.
The Family: Someone who has never played the game but knows one of the people who will become trapped.
(these characters will propably do everything they can within the physical world to help fix this disaster as would be expected)
The Victim: You are one of the players who bought the optical gaming tool and is now trapped in the game world death for you here is permanent and will erase your concioussness.
The Medians: You are also a player who still uses the game minus the new Optical Gear support you propably act as the only contact a victim will have left with his family and loved ones since you can still freely enter and leave the game plus use it as normal.
(Medians are very interesting to me because they have a huge responsibility in this story since they connect an entire group of people)
