The following message appeared on various broadcasts and social media outlets on the morning of June the 1st at around 11 am:
"Bulletin:- Due to the actions of the recent legendary visitor to our shores, there has been a marked increase noted in seismic disturbances for the past few weeks. Most spectacularly, it appears, a brand new cave was discovered after part of a cliff face fell away in the mountains around Sagestone. Luckily nobody was in the area of the fall at the time, and the collapse was discovered after the fact by a pair of hikers. The cave has been explored and deemed safe for visitors; in fact, this collapse has revealed evidence of Kodo's prehistoric life, which authorities are hoping will boost visitor numbers to the area, as, for a limited time, they are allowing interested trainers to come and search for these fossilised pokémon. The League has agreed to partake in the resurrection of fossils at a nearby facility for all registered trainers. The area will be accessible for one day on Friday the 5th of June, from 11 AM to Sunset."
Now, some Rockets, it was understood, were either known to (or simply wished not to deal with) the League. After viewing the report, Agent Tambrey realised that this could be an issue, and was quick to request clearance and permission to develop a resurrection process, stealing heavily from and based upon poached research from scientists in Kanto and other regions with the capability to bring pokémon from the past into the present. Justified as fossils and fossil pokémon were a valuable business enterprise, the science labs were soon capable of bringing a pokémon 'back to life' from fossils that rockets might obtain.
Upon arrival at the mountain-site, a short hike from the town of Sagestone, people would enter a sparsely wooded area of mountainside, where they would find a scree of rubble immediately before a cave with two chambers. This expanse of loose stone, bordered by the forest, was the first of three areas that were known to yield fossils.
Inside the cave, to illuminate both chambers, temporary lighting had been installed.
A path that led right would lead visitors upward and twist twice as the chamber climbed the mountain. This path was wide enough and tall enough for two people to walk side by side comfortably for most of its substantial length before it ended at a solid wall of rough stone. On the left, the path led down further inside the mountain. It was a slightly shorter passage however it became significantly taller and wider at its mid-point. The temporary lighting did not illuminate its upper reaches. After the midpoint this chamber began to taper inward until eventually it became too narrow to follow any further down.
The area was patrolled by guides for the safety of all visitors. Of course, being a cave system, many cracks and fissures, too treacherous and off-limits to humans, potentially allowed access to varying pokémon species. The League, in charge of the event, was clear that the standard encounter rules applied should visitors encounter one.
Maps were handed out, and a curfew of an hour before sunset imposed, to anyone who appeared at the site.
[OOC:] This is, indeed, a fossil hunt! Of course, there are wild pokémon in the area too so your character might end up encountering one. To play and see what your character might find (a fossil, a booby prize, or a surprised pokémon), please post where your character is ('the outside scree', 'right chamber', or 'left chamber'), what they are doing (as activity will play some part in what you find!), and then randomly generate a number from 1-12. You can play as many of your characters as you wish but per player, up to two pokémon (this includes both fossils and encounters) can be kept. 'Booby prizes' are not -actual- prizes and thus are unlimited (they don't count as a 'roll' if you find one). You have 3 rolls total (which, again, do not include any rolls in which you find 'booby prizes') but can keep 2 prizes- this is so, if you roll something you do not wish to keep you get one chance to roll one more time to find something else.
This ORP will, as usual, be open indefinitely, however the chance to find fossils and pokémon (and booby prizes) will come to an end on Friday 12th June at 5 PM EST.
If you find a fossil, or encounter a pokemon, please state clearly whether you are keeping it or not.
Fossil Hunting has ended! You may still roll but no pokémon or fossils will be encountered; booby prizes are not real prizes and thus, for entertainment, may be rolled for without limit, indefinitely.

[The Outside Scree]
Aulus had spent the last few days metaphorically peering over Tam's shoulder and making excited noises. Fossil pokemon? Yes please!
He arrived at the site twanging with energy and flanked by Rose, Thanatos, Char, Foxtrot, Juno, and Tortie who where to help him search. "Alright," he nodded to the group, "here's the drill; we move slowly up the scree towards the chambers spread out from one another. You remember your briefing on the common appearances of fossils?" The pokemon nodded, and Aulus nodded back. "Okay, good. If you're not sure about something call me over, better to get me to look at a useless rock than to pass over a fossil because you didn't want to bother me. I wouldn't go so far as to say leave no stone unturned but I don't want use going back empty handed. Or pawed," he nodded to Tortie, the only one present without one or more hands or at least hand-like claws.
The six pokemon fanned out on either side of Aulus, each keeping a few feet away from the next as they started to pick their way up the scree. Here Aulus stooped to turn over a heavy rock with a thoughtful frown on his face, there Tortie pawed at some loose pebbles to see what was underneath, over there Juno turned over a few rocks with her horn and stopped to peer at them... and so on.

[The Left Chamber]
Keita had decided to make her way to the caves, receiving her map and trying to decide on where she was to go. She knew about the fossils, and she would like to at the very least find one. However, another pokemon would be good too. Taking her flashlight out and connecting it to her belt, despite not needing it, she then began to go through her jacket and opening one of the hidden pockets on the inside to get a specific pokeball. She then allowed her pokemon to come out, her Servine looking at her expecting something.
"So Delta, are you ready for the search?"
Delta nodded, starting off in the direction of the left chamber. Well, it seemed like that was where they were going! Whatever was ahead of them, they better be careful.
