It's a glorious time to be alive. Advanced robotics and cybernetics, leaps and bounds in the green technology industry, and computers running faster than ever before. You'd think that in 2046, a time of such growth, the world would be perfect.

Well, you'd be thinking very wrong.

The problems we faced 30 years ago never went away. Sure we saw "improvement", but it was a facade, a dandelion we tried to make believe was a rose. In America, there are still millions who live without health care, jobs, or even decent social assistance. In South America, the Cartels still maintain a grip on drugs, though they may soon lose that to the growing beast of an organization, The Union. In Asia, China has finally achieved it's goals as massive militarization, having a navy and air force that's capable of competing with America's, and an army that far outnumbers America's, while being equipped with weapons probably on par with them too. Russia's population has had slow growth, but the inclusion of a few ex-Soviet territories into their "economic union" has bolstered them a bit. With the added support from China, Russia has been building up it's armies again likely looking for a chance to reclaim some old glory. And meanwhile, the Middle East is still fraught with religious tensions, and Africa with ethnic ones.

To top it all off, mega-corporations still know how to make profits off things people don't even need, like oil. Bill after bill demanding that all automobiles have non-petroleum fueled engines have been shot down by big oil companies, while costs of living continue to go up, and standards start to go down.

And then you get men like Vincent Roberts and his New Social Credit Party. Might seem nice enough, but is now, a time when voter turn out is at it's lowest, the best time to tell people about the death of democracy? With his personal army going around the world, attacking groups they consider threats without even having authority sometimes, and his party demanding new elections in nearly every country they are running in, it begs the question of what's going through his head.

One might recall the poem "The Second Coming", by W.B. Yeats, as it seems a tide of blood is about to wash through the Earth, and leave a new world.

The question is, what kind of world will we live in by the end? Some kind of enlightened utopia of perfection? An anarchical pit? Maybe the world will be wiped away completely in nuclear fire? Only time will really tell.... Time, and you. No matter who you are, where you come from, or what's happened in your life, you're about to be pulled into this hurricane. And if you want to survive it, there's one thing you need to learn: nothing in this storm is black and white, only grey. The sooner you see that, the sooner you can learn to live with your actions, and the actions of others.

Welcome to the maelstrom.

Alright, so I'm literally just stealing someone else's rules, because lets face it, you already know the rules don't you? xp

1. TOS. Follow it.

2. No god modding. This goes for EVERYTHING, not just shooting or powers. You can't just hack into the pentagon and launch all the world's nukes, okay? I can on the other hand, because I'm essentially like the Dungeon Master, so what I say goes! But let's be honest, we won't be dropping any nukes any time soon. Not soon at least. wink

3. Discuss action scenes or plot points with the characters you plan to have involved with it, or at least do so if it's going to be a big thing. If it's a chance meeting you can maybe get away with it, but please take other players plans into consideration.

4. Please try to post every few days if possible. I get that my sleep pattern is vampiric compared to yours', but I know I don't want to get bored, and I don't think you guys do either.

5. Send me your profiles with the title "Character Profile", or something like that. I don't care so much about the name, I just need to know what it is compared to my other PM's.

6. Have fun! Cause if you don't, the Office of Impure and Counter-Revolutionary Thought will have me (and all of you) executed! (I'm kidding of course, in case you were born without a sense of humor..... Or in case I was and everyone's just been pretending to find me funny.....)

Oh, and about age rating. I might prefer we keep the cursing down a bit, but I probably won't complain if we don't. As for violence.... Well, I'm always up for a bit of the old "ultra violence". *sips at glass of milk* So yeah, I'm saying violence is probably 18+, unless anyone is extremely offended by that. This doesn't mean you HAVE to describe every terrible detail either, just that I've got more than enough iron in my belly to handle what you can dish out.

Oh, and lastly, let's try and use the OOC thread for most of our OOC stuff, if you don't mind please! sweatdrop

Plot stuff!

So here's the gist of things kiddies; you're someone in this world.

That's basically it.Yeah, pretty much.

Okay, but seriously, you are the ones that must come up with your characters. What they do for a living is mostly up to you, unless I don't approve of something.

Politicians, gangsters, assassins, anarchists, terrorists. All of these things are acceptable. Your career and rank will determine how much influence you have in this world. Your actions will determine how that changes.

Now, you're probably wondering, where exactly is this story going? Well if I told you everything, that would ruin the surprise. But what I must say is things will start off a bit slow. There will be a lot going on, don't worry about that, but there won't be any world changing events for a while, not huge ones at least. For right now, we're dealing with criminals, terrorists, and a rampant PMC that wipes with UN Binding Resolutions. If you're confused on how any of these things are working, read my posts when we start, ALL of them. I'll reveal a lot of what's going on globally in what I write, and it will help you figure out where to go from there.

If you'd like to "create a conflict" so that your character has something to do, by all means do it! But talk to me first please. wink

Also, PLEASE let's avoid the political assassinations right off the bat! The world is getting close to the brink of war, we're not actually there yet.

And those of you playing politicians, are you confused how you fit in? Simple answer to that: meddle. Get involved in political discussions, have back door deals, have discreet meetings on hush hush issues, and general try to expand and exercise your power. After all, why'd you bother getting into politics if you didn't plan on trying to rule the world? wink An exaggeration of course, what you do as a politician is up to you. But remember: conflict moves a story, and YOU have the power to create it!

One last thing.... A rogue terrorist/vigilante group may show up very early in this story, to help get chatter going amongst the important folks of the world. This could very possibly be a way of your character getting some action early in the story, a great first step in getting yourself involved in things.

Oh, and also, if any of you are at a loss with factions, I'll try making some, but I'll need help with this!

Oh yes, one last thing I forgot, profile pictures. I'd like it if we could all use a similar medium in this, but let me first explain what I'm looking for.

I'm really looking for characters who are done in the same art style as Nickelodeon characters, in fact I'll probably only accept Nickelodeon characters..............

So, terrifying jokes aside, I would prefer pictures that are not photos. I'll accept some anime pics, computer generated art, sketches, etc. More realistic anime pictures are preferred, but I can let it slide for the most part (especially since I'm not even sure what pic I'm using yet XD).

User Image
Username: The_Sane_Hatter
Name: Greg Kozlowski
Age: 34
Gender: Male
Race/Nationality/Species: American born to Scottish and Polish parents. Human.
Orientation: Straight
Personality: Greg's a bit of an oddity among those in his line of work. He holds his honor and professional reputation above all else, and it's come to be the mainly selling point for his goods. Which is handy, since he's not exactly a people person, or a convincing liar. He's a bit stubborn once he's set his mind on something, and could be described as mentally unhinged. His patience wears thin rather quickly, and he's been known to snap on occasion. Terrible sense of humor.
Rank: Former contractor for the U.S. Government, currently head of a less-than-legal export company.
Occupation: Arms, Armour, Logistics, Manpower, and Information Supplier. He's had to diversify in recent years.
Education: Two engineering degrees, and a whole bunch of hands-on experience with weapons and their respective manuals. Picked up combat advice from the military groups he's worked with.

Factions: Though he's made friends among various militias and rebel groups, he's not well-liked in respectable or law-enforcing circles.

Religion/Philosophy: Non-religious. Greg believes armed revolution to be a right, and obligation, of men. A government is more likely to listen to the demands of a population of well-armed citizens than to those of a population armed solely with votes and strongly-worded letters.
Political Ideals: Greg went into the arms business for a few reasons. He felt guilty helping the United States and other countries expand upon their preexisting advanced arsenals, and wanted to do something to put more power in the hands of the people, in an attempt to balance the scales. A staunch advocate for personal freedoms above all else, he couldn't care less about what people believe in or do in their own homes. If they want to try and push their beliefs on others, then the other side should become equally as armed.

Biography: Born to a mechanic and an accountant in the American Midwest, Greg could be described as adequately middle-class. He hung around his father's workplace as a kid, learning how things worked, and how to keep them working. Living in peaceful America, he'd only catch snippets of the state of the world from whatever was on currently bothering the news enough for them to report on. He never really invested himself in politics or world affairs, so it came as a bit of a surprise when he set his mind to developing tech for the military. Perhaps he wanted to keep things the way they were, peaceful. And for a while after college, that's how his mind was, peaceful. But the longer he worked with the military, the more he realized what a one-sided fight the world had become. Practically using the nuclear option on cavemen, from a technological logistics viewpoint. Crushing armed revolutions in the name of peace and order, despite the United States being birthed from such a revolution itself. The disconnect between ideals and reality grew too large for Greg to handle, and in a sense, it broke something inside him. In an effort to try and tip the scales back to an equal point, he betrayed the government, stole plans and secrets, and went rogue, selling them to various groups around the globe. Over the past few years, he's made his way around the globe, establishing connections, transporting goods, scraping together tech from various superpowers, and backing the insurgent sides of various conflicts. He sleeps better at night.
Skills: Manning, manufacturing, and maintaining weapons and weapons systems. Avoiding arrest and capture. Acquiring things he shouldn't. Can defend himself if need be.

Transportation: Shipping is vital to supplying arms, and as a result he's aquired quite a few contacts in various fields of transport. Be it by land, sea, or air, Greg will find a way to ship it there.
Home: Though his profession requires him to move about quite a bit, his base of operations is located in Central Asia.

Likes: Well-maintained equipment, arms and armor, quiet countrysides, small towns, the ever-advancing state of technology, personal freedoms.
Dislikes: Government types, peace-lovin' hippies, backstabbing snakes, the color blue, people who have no idea what they're doing handling things they shouldn't, corporations sticking their fingers where they don't belong.

Weapons: Though he has access to a wide array of weapons, Greg has a personal fondness for a Pernach automatic pistol and OTS-14 GROZA with an underslung grenade launcher he picked up in Eastern Europe a while back.
Clothing: Greg tends to avoid armor, and stick with his trusty jacket. Due to lack of proper facilities in some of the locations he sticks around in for work, he tends to wear the same clothes for extended periods of time.

(Don't worry, Hatter already sent his in. xp And I don't mind people commenting here either, does help get a bit more attention I hope! Of course, we should try to leave most of the OOC stuff to the OOC, to avoid getting too much clutter. I know I've had that problem before! I'll try and put a link to the OOC on soon as well, make it easier for new comers to find.)

(Edit: Oh, you already posted it I just realized. rofl Well, at least nobody should miss it now!)

Link to OOC now listed in the rules, and added an unnumbered rule about violence and swearing, unnumbered mostly because it isn't a rule, just a point of consideration.

(True, suppose I'm just used things falling together more quickly. xp Back years ago, there were times a roleplay could actually get itself running and moving in almost a day, but times have changed. And on the other hand, keeping this on the guild front page as active is one of the easiest ways to advertise to anyone who might be online. xP)
