In a kingdom long ago there was a kingdom by the name of Shalamon. This kingdom was lead by a family of kind witches until one day a man came from a foreign land and tricked them out of their crown. Exiled to the Dark Forest like the Forgotten Ones the witch family lived like hermits. Now a hundred years into the future the witch family is forgotten by all but scholars and the 'royal family'. The treacherous king of the kingdom thought that his position on the throne was secure until one day he saw a girl running along the edge of the forest with a large beast. He knew immediately that this was a descendent of the once powerful family of witches so he called upon a knight in his army. He offered the knight riches beyond his wildest dreams and the position of Commandant of the army if on,y he would go into the forest and kill the witch. Only this isn't as easily fooled as one would think...
The forgotten ones are little black human like creatures that come up to about knee height at the tallest and they wear dark grey-green cloaks(kind of like in rangers apprentice if you have ever read the books). They were the inhabitants of the land until the kingdom came to be.

•Personality•
~Hazel is a naturally curious witch with a cautious nature. She is quick on the defense often avoiding people all together. A gentle breeze rustle through the trees as Hazel strolled through the forest with her familiar Curse, a basket of collected herbs and edible plants hanging on her right arm. It was a beautiful day in her opinion, the sky was clear and the late autumn air was crisp, but something felt off in the back of her mind. Like something bad was about to happen. "Something isn't right Curse..." She murmured quietly, her voice clear and almost song like. It wasplike her voice alone was made to lure people to her, to lull them into a sense of calm that would make them hers. But she never used her charm that way, in fact she didn't even socialize often enough to even try charming someone. "Well hello little one. Why do you look so distressed?" A Forgotten One had burst through a bush and ran up to her as she knelt down to greet it. The little black creature in the grey-green cloak only came half way up to her knees but it had no problem making its strange whispery words heard to the blonde whose eyes widened when it finished talking.
"There is a knight coming towards the forest? Are you sure that he is coming this way and not just taking the road?" More of the strange whispers came from the creature as she stood up, the basket swinging on her arm as she did so. "Alright then, go tell the others to hide. I will let you know when it's safe again." She told the Forgotten One, smiling as she watched it run off to go relay the message to its kin. A small sigh escaped her when it was gone, her attention turning to the white wolf beside her. It was an intelligent, and proud looking wolf and the magic that coursed through it was even greater then her own. Though a human would not know that the creature was magical until it was to late. "Let's go see what's going on Curse. I'm sure the king has finally sent someone out here to get rid of me but I would like to make sure first." And with that she and her familiar went off in the direction that the Forgotten One had given her, hoping to lay in wait and catch the intruder by surprise.
~Alister Clark~ Alister made it to the front of the forest. He stopped just right outside of where the forest began. He looked up at the tall trees then back at what was in front of him. "So...this is it..." he said, still observing the scene. He then picked up a small rock and tossed it beyond the first two trees he saw. He then waited awhile and didn't see anything happen. He then whistled a tune for about five seconds, and waited. A song bird responded, and he smiled. "Well, I guess it's okay to go in." he said as he walked into the forest, his hand on the hilt of his sword. He kept an eye out to make sure nothing popped out at him. "Oh boy....money and advancement just for killing a witch. Sounds weird but I will take it. I don't see anything that could go wrong with that." he said, still with a smile on his face.

The witch and her familiar finally found the knight just as he had thrown the rock into the forest, both confused as to what he was doing. What a strange man. What did he think the rock would hit? A barrier? If I didn't want anyone in the forest then I would of just simply grown some brambles around it to ward them off... And now he is singing to the birds! Is he ok in the head?" She thought, confused as to what his motive was. Then he started bragging about the money and position he would get for killing her and she couldn't help but giggle quietly. I was right! He was sent by the king! How comical, that human oaf needs to send this airhead to take care of me? I could kill him in seconds... Or I could use him to my advantage. Her eyes widened as she came to the realization. Without saying anything she held the basket out to the wolf who nodded in understanding before taking it into its mouth and bounding off after the knight like a pup after its plaything. "Curse no! Bad wolf! Get back here, if we don't get back to the cabin before night fall something horrible will get us!" She called after the wolf as she chased after her familiar, putting on an act to make her appear like a normal human girl wandering through the woods.
~Alister Clark~ As Alister was walking through, he heard what sounded like a female voice. As he turned he notice a wolf running towards him with a basket in it's mouth. He was quickly startled and partially drew his sword, thinking it was going to attack, however, it didn't really do anything after it came up to him. He looked at it confusingly then looked at the female that was running up after it. "Oi! This your pooch? Scared the living hell out of me. Might want to keep it on a leash." he said followed by laughter.

"I am so sorry about that sir! He just gets excited so easily! Curse you know better, bad wolf!" Hazel pretended to scold the wolf who hung it's head as if it were upset that it had angered it's master. She took the basket away from the wolf, almost laughing as it tried to keep it away from her, before putting it back onto her right arm. She loved playing these little acting games with Curse. "I know it isn't much but as an apology I would like for you to take one of the apples I picked from my apple tree this morning. I'll make sure to have Curse properly restrained next time... Though I would like to ask you one question if I may." She hummed cheerfully as she reached into her basket before placing a big, red apple in one of his hands. "You see I've lived in these woods you whole life and not once have I seen anyone enter the forest this late in the day! So may I ask what you are doing out here? Or is that overstepping a boundary?" She asked calmly while Curse sniffed around the man, though she already knew the answer to his question she wanted to see if he would lie to her.
~Alister Clark~ "Ah, thanks...but you don't really have to apologize." he said followed by laughter as she put the apple in his hand. He looked at her intently as he heard her question, it sounding a little suspicious. "Actually i'm looking for someone that is supposed to live in these woods, and now that I know that you lived here your whole life then there must be a village near here. Maybe you can help me." he said, smiling at her.

She almost began to panick when he asked about a village, she. Knew she had to think quick before he grew suspicious. That is if he wasn't already. "No there is no village. I live out here with my father, he's a huntsman. He is actually out on a hunt now! So, I don't know who you could be looking for." She said apologetically before thinking it over a bit. "Though sometimes I do see a strange woman wandering around the forest near where my cabin is though she doesn't bother me so I just leave her alone and occasionally bake her a pie. Curse seems to be weary of her though which is strange because I find her to be a very pleasant woman!" She managed to keep up her little charade while Curse curled up at her feet, playing the role of an obedient pet flawlessly in her opinion. She just hoped that their little act was enough to fool the knight who seemed to be growing more, and more suspicious by the minute.
~Alister Clark~ Alister continued to listen to her. When she mentioned a creepy old woman wondering around, a smile grew on his face. "Then i'm hoping if you or your father don't mind, then I would like to stay right by in case she comes back, that way I can take care of it and leave you alone." he said proposing to her, really hoping she would say yes, because this is so far the only lead he has.

Hazel could t believe how much this was playing out in her favor. She could keep a close eye on him and he still didn't suspect her for anything. She made a mental note to thank the God of luck later when she prayed over her burning sage. "I suppose that you could stay in father's room while he is on his hunt. He should be back in a couple of weeks but you'll be done by then hopefully. Right?" She asked calmly, her head tilting to the side innocently as she kept up her act. She could have kicked Curse for the amused huff he gave but she only ignored it, making plans to scold him later if she ever got the chance. "Come, follow me! We have to get back before it gets dark! There are dangerous creatures in the woods and I don't want to get caught by any of them." This was of course another lie as she headed off down the path, Curse immedietly by her side as soon as he was up. They really needed to be back by dark so that the Forgotten Ones could come out and forage without being seen by the man. They were after all on,y supposed to be legends.
~Alister Clark~ A couple of weeks? That seemed rather long for a hunt, but this was a good oppurtunity for him, so that he didn't seem more of an inconvineince if her father really was there. He smiled as he put the apple she gave him in his pouch. "Alright then, lead the way." he said as he followed her to where she and her father were staying at.

They walked for a while, Hazel humming a cheery little tune while Curse pranced beside her like a cheerful pup. The thought of her familiar as a pup made her smile, but she never stopped humming. The tune was one specifically made up to let the Forgotten Ones know that it would be safe to go out that night. "Oh my! I completely forgot to introduce myself! My name is Hazel Wickette and this is my wolf and best friend Curse. Little bugger has been a curse on my life since the day I found him half drowned in the river what with his playful nature and rough playing habits." She managed to force a laugh out of herself as she spoke about the fake nature of her familiar. Curse was actually a very calm, and thoughtful wolf and it would take some time for him to have to get used to his new fake personality, but she had to explain his obscure name somehow and she doubted that the true meaning behind his name would go over well with the knight. Especially when a familiar's name is supposed to reflect the nature of the witch that owned it.
~Alister Clark~ Alister ended up laughing along with her when she explained the origin of her wolf's name. "My name is Alister Clark, Royal knight to the king and queen of Shamalon." he said, still following her.
