Story Line
Sword Art Online (SAO) is a Virtual Reality Massively Multiplayer Online Role-Playing Game (VRMMORPG), released in 2022. With the Nerve Gear, a virtual reality helmet that stimulates the user's five senses via their brain, players can experience and control their in-game characters with their minds.
On November 6, 2022, the players log into SAO for the first time, and later discover that they are unable to log out. They are then informed by Akihiko Kayaba, SAO's creator, that if they wish to be free, they must reach the 100th floor of the game's tower and defeat the final boss. However, if their avatars die in-game, their bodies will also die in the real world. One of these players is Kazuto "Kirito" Kirigaya, who was chosen as one of the 1,000 beta testers in the closed beta. Since he had previous experience and knowledge of the game, he felt that he could beat the game easily. As a result, he set out to beat the game on his own. As the game progresses for two years, Kirito eventually befriends a female player named Asuna with whom he ultimately falls in love. After the duo discover the identity of Kayaba's avatar in SAO, they confront and destroy him, freeing themselves and the other players from the game.
Upon being sent back to the real world, Kirito learns that 300 SAO players, including Asuna, still have not awakened yet. Following a clue about Asuna's whereabouts in another VRMMORPG called Alfheim Online (ALO), Kirito also enters the ALO's mainframe. Helped by his cousin Suguha Kirigaya, known as Leafa in the game, he learns that the trapped players in ALO are part of a plan conceived by Nobuyuki Sugō to perform illegal experiments on their minds to put them under his control, including Asuna, whom he intends to marry in the real world in order to take over her family's company. After Kirito foils Nobuyuki's plans, he finally reunites with Asuna back in the real world.

Name: Kirito
Age: 14
Bio: Kirito is one of the main protagonists along side his partner, Asuna, in Sword Art Online. He was a beta tester, making him very familiar to the game and all of it's functions/rules. With this knowledge, he decided in the beginning to work alone, later joining a small, weak guild called the Moonlit Black Cats, but unfortunately that affiliation ended with tragedy and the guild was destroyed. He later began working with Asuna and not soon after they officially became partners.
In the real world, his name is Kazuto Kirigaya (and he is practically just a computer neet who barely has friends because of how rude his direct character portrays him to be. Really, he's a mellow guy who simply has a tendency to be blunt).

Name: Yumiko Yamada
Age: 17
Bio: In the real world, she is a quiet, shy girl who doesn't speak unless spoken to. She attends the same school as Kirito and Asuna, though she has a tendency of going unnoticed like a shadow. She simply keeps to herself and goes through every day life as a dull cycle. Yumi only began playing games to keep things interesting, though she soon became very serious and competitive. After awhile, losing was not an option.
In the gaming world, Yumi is like a whole new person. She speaks with no fear, portraying a fierce and cold-hearted girl. She's recklessly willing to do anything it takes to win, causing all sorts of chaos. She hates working with others, claiming they slow her down from her goal, so in most cases she is a solo player. In the case of SAO, she feels irritated knowing she has to work with others to ultimately defeat the entire game and takes that anger out on weaker players as she joins Laughing Coffin, a PK or "red" guild.
(Yui is really going to have to watch out for Yumi's mental health because she just may become psychopathic lmao)

He is quite a disturbingly playful character in SAO, with not much known about him other than the given that he belongs to the infamous murder guild and he is constantly smiling. It is also aware of his good looks and uses it to his advantage to charm people and ultimately get his way.
In the real world, he is an insignificant high school graduate drowned within the colossal, lively society. Belonging to a well-off scientist who adopted him to escape loneliness, Natsuo seemed to fall into the same dilemma that man suffered from. He was rather lonely no matter how many people who'd acknowledge him, seeking more and more attention. Thus, he began filling the void by playing games, soon leading him to SAO. Learning of the creator trapping everyone within the game, Nano swore to himself that he'd live the life he hadn't in the real world. (Which happened to end up being a killer? Lmao Smooth Nano.) From then on, a chain of events led him to the red guild, whereas he found a passion for killing and actually seeing it as a fun sport. Creepy...
