I thought we'd move here to keep things cleaned in my search thread.
so far we have these ideas
modern harry potter alternate universe set some time between 2012-2014
professor mcgonagall is headmistress
humans have become aware of muggle born wizards as well as magic born wizards
you and i both surely know how humans act when they don't understand something
personally i was thinking of making a sixteen year old muggle born girl. perhaps hufflepuff. this way she is still restricted on using magic outside of school and what not
say something went wrong in the human world and she had to defend herself she couldn't use magic or face the consequences.

Sure we could do that now my thoughts are I could fit on two sides of the spectrum for this. My character could either also be a Wizard probably Ravenclaw. Or My character Could be a Marine and they are being sent out on expidite to capture wizards and witches etc. I have decent ideas and setups for both so which would you prefer?

For the ravenclaw, they could work together to protect the school, and the wizarding world. Possible classmates with an established acquaintance or friendship.
With the marine, i would most likely make a new graduate, whom would be tossed in to help the wizarding world. This person girl would be either half or pureblood. That way there is an obligation to the wizarding world rather than a muggle born.
Edit: say my character was around harrys time, 1998 or so to make it to date she would have ro be no younger than 25 making her 11 at the time. Making our time in this roleplay 2012
Honestly the marine one is totally peaking my intrest. Spill ideas please!!

Alright So For the Marine one we would start off with the wizarding world only just being noticed and they would begin investigating things. We could have it be right after The harry potter series if you would like. So about 2006. My character would be 18 in this instance. Unless you want to do like 2012-2015 Obviously the war in Afghanistan would then be in full swing. Thus the whispers of magical and weird things would gain attention because they would be thought as Terrorist activity. There where obviously more things going on other than just Afghanistan and that's where my character will get drawn in.

Sounds cool! So after some time of suspicion and tracking a muggle born perhaps your marine ends up in the wizarding world?
By that time what I have in-store for my character would be nineteen. Probably looking for a job with the ministry of magic (or already have one who knows) and could hear rumors of human curiosity?
How do you think they'd run into one another?
Also, do you think its a good idea that the ministry has created a magical armed force after voldemorts battle at hogworts? That way the human world at least has some sort of reason for their actions?

This sounds reasonable My thoughts where along the lines him and his squad end up in the wizard world. Per say in a place that isnt good for them.. like with some bad beastie.. that only the Marine survives the encounter. Of course being a marine lets say those beasties are protecting one of the ministry of magics locations.

My girl could stumble on the bodies, given she's low ranking in the ministry, she looks after the beast. not the safest or most glamorous job, but it would tie things in pretty well. we could take it from there. either er being detained as a hostage by him or her looking more deeply into things
