Yet another modern day angels and demons roleplay. Except this one is just a little different from most of the others here on Gaia. Rather than the angels helping the humans with the demons attacking, both God and the Devil have their own different reasons for deciding to use all of their forces for the purpose of war. Not just with each other, but also with the human race. As for the humans? Well, they're just trying to survive at this point. For now I'm simply copy pasting most of the basic information about the roleplay from this conversation with xia75672:

This angels and demons roleplay originally started with some of my other friends outside of Gaia. It was mostly military based, where the five of us [or our characters at least] were all from different countries with different combat-based backgrounds. The roleplay originally started out when the five of us received a job offer from a rather secretive organization [called IDOW but for the life of me I can't remember what it stood for]... we found out later that it was an international protection agency against the things trying to destroy mankind. They were strange beings and monsters that we dubbed "angels and demons" despite not knowing for certain where they came from or who their leaders were.

See, the whole angels and demons thing? None of that was known outside of the organization [outside of a few of the main leaders of the countries of the world]. Honestly we as "humans" didn't know a whole lot about our enemies. The whole organization is very secretive... even within the different teams, fake names are encouraged and it's not hard to lie about your past, or just not tell anyone period. Well part of that was also the powers that some people were apparently born with. "Occults" is what they called people like us [there was a reason why the five of us were chosen to join the organization]. Not all of the people in IDOW were Occult, maybe 25%. But every single man and woman was highly trained and in tip-top shape.

Anyways, the angels and demons have basically started making the destruction of the human race their primary goal [don't get me wrong, they still hate each other]. Cities have been falling literally every day. During one of IDOW's recent missions, the angels went high into the sky and just above the earth to take down the majority of the satellites. Thus limiting transmissions of all kinds. This roleplay starts back off from that point where an operative has recently been ordered to separate from their former teammates and take solo missions. At least until the organization can find someone new to partner up with them, train them, and to later build up a new, more powerful team.

Rules:

1. Follow Gaia TOS please and thank you.
2. Please do not cyber, because not only am I required to say it, but it also makes some people very uncomfortable. And roleplaying isn't nearly as fun when that happens.
3. This is a military-based roleplay, there's definitely going to be some cursing but don't over do it.
4. Don't god-mod. Give your characters space to grow, it's way more fun that way.
5. Try to have around three sentences a post. Less than that is fine every once in a while, just not all the time.
6. Let others know when you're going to be gone for over two days. Life happens, don't worry about it.
7. Be nice to others out of character and have fun!

[My character]

BASIC INFO
Name: Sherri Stephenson; “Steph”
Sex/gender: Female
Age: 29
Hair: Short brown, usually slicked back
Eye Color: Brown
Nationality: U.S.
Backstory: Orphaned as a baby, Sherri was sent to a place called ‘The Stephenson Care for Lost Children’. She spent her childhood roaming the streets behind the orphanage, getting into fights with the older children. Any possible adoption opportunities were well squashed with Sherri’s anger issues. She ended up solving most of them with the help of an older homeless man, who later inspired her to join the U.S. military as a search and rescue operative at the age of 17. A few years into her service with the military she got a series of tattoos done that covered her from her collarbone to the bottom of her ribs, as well as a good portion of her arms.

COMBAT
Specialty: Close quarters; Bombs/Demolitions
Close quarters experience: specialty military training in strength-based martial arts; i.e. Judo, Muay Thai; well used to breaking down doors and taking down larger opponents
Medium range experience: Fairly accurate with both hand guns and semi-automatics; can take out multiple targets consecutively; handles explosives and their launchers professionally
Long range experience: can shoot with a sniper rifle, but takes time to aim correctly
Main weapon: Large multi-tool kit strapped to back
Secondary weapons: multiple grenades and other explosives attached to belt, semi-automatic rifle with blade attached clipped to chest
Combat background: Steph was originally only given basic training for the military, but she displayed proficiency in the mathematics that were necessary for a demolitionist. They gave her a scholarship to continue her training, and so that’s what she did. She ended up working her way up to Sargent, and despite getting an offer to promote to Lieutenant, she refused for the sake of staying on the front lines. She was honorably discharged after an incident where her commanding officer tasered her in the back during a mission; the mission was to get as many people out of a collapsing mine as possible. Steph was ordered back out of concern for her safety, and she refused. After working out in the field for ten years, Steph returned to the U.S. and worked as a firefighter for a year. When she was twenty-eight, Steph received a notice from IDOW asking for her to come in for an interview. Everything after is classified.

Sipping coffee from the coffee shop underneath her now empty flat, Roen MacPherson walked down the busy streets of New York City. After a long night of restlessness, she had finally decided to get up and get a head start on her errands for the day. Her breath fogged the chilly morning air and she quickened her pace to catch the bus headed for the other side of town. She slipped onto the bus, and found an empty seat. She needed to pick up some things from the store before heading to Albany to visit her mom. She shipped most of her belongings to her mother's house the week before, as she was expected to fly out the coming weekend for a mission in Germany. After paying for many months of rent for a place she was never at, Roen decided it was better to not have a permanent place apart from her mother's.

The bus stopped, Roen climbed off, tossing her now cold coffee in the trash, and headed into the store. She picked up a few toiletries and a bottle of water, paid, shoved them in her backpack, and headed for the train that would take her to Albany.

On her way to the train was when she noticed she had a follower. She waited until she got to the next block and crossed to the other side of the street, the man eventually followed. She knew that he was good at what he does, because without her military training, she wouldn't have noticed him. She walked a couple more blocks, pulling up the hood of her jacket, weaving in and out, turning at the last possible moment, and crossing the street during the last few seconds, all in an effort to shake him.

For a minute, she thought she lost him. Then, out of the corner of her eye, she saw movement in the alley she was crossing in front of, but it was too late. Seconds later, she was in the alley, bag over her head and restrained. Before they managed to cover her eyes, she counted three men, but she knew that once they took her wherever they were going there would be more. They tossed her into what she assumed to be a van, and drove away. At first, she attempted to remember the turns they were taking; but minutes in, she felt a p***k in her arm and she was out.

{number exempt; classified} miles away from New York, IDOW Alpha Base, 1500 hours

With both feet propped upon the metal desk before her, Steph read through the file before her. Since receiving the news from her former commanding officer that she was to meet her partner in a few hours, she had been reading and re-reading all of the information given. Well. Honestly she'd mostly just skimmed the familial and personal background. It wasn't necessary for what IDOW had in store for the two of them, and beside that fact Steph actually did respect boundaries... despite what several other people may believe of her.

Scottish fencing, huh? An odd choice in her opinion, but if trained well... This girl could definitely become a real asset to our cause. It's no wonder really as to why they decided to bring her in. According to the files, it didn't look as though the woman had spent any recent time training those particular skills. However her time in the U.S. military- Hell yeah America! -well makes up for the lost time in physical combat. Her specialty in sniping gave Steph a small twinge of pain in yearning for her former teammates, but overall she was grateful for her soon-to-be partner's ability. Steph herself specialized in close-quarters combat, it was ideal to have a partner with the opposite capabilities to watch your back.

Steph let out a rough sigh. While there were upsides to getting a new partner, there was absolutely going to be downsides to it as well... Steph's partner was probably going to end up going in blind, just like Steph and her former team did. Hopefully she would handle it better than they had. Granted, Steph's former team still succeeded with the mission. It just ended a little differently is all. Steph tosses the file once in the air, flipping it back to the first page then rolling her shoulders in preparation for the next read through. 'Wonder if the rest of the men will quit it with their little nickname for me once my partner comes along... ah who am I kidding, they'll probably give her one equally as bad if not worse.

Roen awoke to darkness. She slowly sat up from the cot she was laying on, and tried to take in as much of her surroundings as possible. Not darkness, she thought, but near darkness. As her eyes adjusted she was able to make out the cot she was sitting on and a chair against the wall on the opposite side of what she assumed to be the cell she was in. In the top of the far corner she could just make out a dark shape, then a little red light flash, a camera. She guessed it had to be night vision, otherwise her room would have been well lit.

She hopped up and scoured the room for weaknesses. She attempted to pick up the chair and the cot, discovering that both were bolted to the floor. She then scoured the walls, feeling for any cracks or indication where the door was, the walls felt rough and cold like cement.. On the wall adjacent to the cot, she found what she assumed to be the doorway, it was cold and metal, no window or door knob. She walked to the cot and climbed underneath it, feeling along the supports. There! She found a dent in one of the rods. She climbed out from underneath the cot and jumped onto it. Bracing the wall for support, she kicked at the dent on the rod, the sound ringing through the room. Nothing happened, she kicked again. After the fifth kick, it finally gave loose, but only on one side. Why hasn't anyone come running at the racket I'm making? She shrugged and sat on the cot, sagging close to the floor due to lack of support, and wiggled the rod until it broke free from the cot. She hit the rod on the wall, hoping to cause more of a jagged edge to no avail. This will have to do, she thought, and sat in the chair, ready for them to come to her.

What seemed like hours passed, and she grew impatient. Then, after some time, the room flooded with light and the doorway opened.

A few minutes earlier, in the room adjacent to Roen's.

The metal's cold at least. It wasn't much, but so far it was the best thing about this situation. The situation being that her new partner who IDOW decided to kidnap rather than invite over like they normally did, was unconscious in the room next to the one Steph was currently waiting in. Steph let out a sigh of barely contained anger, her breath fanning the metal table her forehead rested upon. The young girl should've been given time to consider her next action like Steph had, and y'know been given an actual invitation. Holy mother of- Steph knew IDOW did some messed up things [mostly because she did some messed up things herself] but even so-

BANG.

...Well. Hitting one's head against a metal table certainly helps to clear your thoughts. Not so much with the calming part-

BANG.

Ah. She'd thought that sound was awfully loud, even with her head as hard as it was. Steph straightened her back as she sat up, unclenching her fists as she went. From the sounds of things in the other room, the other woman was awake... and apparently trying to break out. A part of Steph was pleased about the woman's sense of preservation, then understanding. It was no wonder why IDOW didn't have their usual interrogator in. Steph may actually have to subdue the woman, before she even got the chance to speak to her.

There was a small buzz in her ear piece, then one of IDOW's intelligence agents [Corry by the sound of it] spoke, "She's awake, when you're ready for her to come in just give the word." Right. Time for business then. Steph rolled her shoulders and cracked her knuckles as she rose to her feet. She glanced briefly at the file on the table, then turned her full attention to the door. "No time like the present, lets do this."
PostPosted: Thu Aug 20, 2015 10:22 pm

Blinking rapidly to adjust to the light, Roen slid from the chair into a defensive position. A growl slipped from her as she glimpsed a shadow in the doorway. A woman walked in wearing military garb. Where the ******** was she? The woman had brown slicked back hair and a look on her face that reflected her dark mood. Roen held the rod out in front of her like one of her foils and prepared for an attack. "Who are you and where am I?" She growled at the woman, circling behind the chair to use it as a shield from the gun the woman had.

Aw, man. This was definitely not going how she wanted it to. Steph stepped to the side to give the smaller woman a view of the room behind her. She tapped a finger to her earpiece and spoke into it, "Corry. Dim the lights will you, I understand that none of you decided to give me the run-down until recently but I highly doubt that blinding her was part of your little plan." Despite her efforts, her tone sounded just as furious as she felt. The lights dimed to a more reasonable tone, and Steph released the button on the earpiece. Her arms cross over one another and she does her best to relax her features.

"Sorry about all of this, I wasn't aware until recently that you coming here would be by force."
PostPosted: Thu Aug 20, 2015 11:16 pm

Roen lowered her weapon a few inches, "Where am I? And why was it deemed necessary to drug me, put me in a van, and throw me in a cell?" She hissed at the woman in front of her, who was at least half a foot taller. It looked as though she was angry about the fact that Roen was treated so poorly. Her gaze took in the room, it looked like the cot was hastily bolted in, and holes in the ground in front of the chair indicated there had been a table there once. She was in an interrogation room. Her body thrummed with energy, ready pounce at any provocation.

Steph's shoulders relax slightly when the smaller woman lowers her weapon, and her voice sounds calmer when she replies. "The where part is classified, I'm not even sure exactly where we are at the moment. Though technically we're on a ship if that helps you at all. The team that brought you in likely felt that they didn't have the time to explain everything at length in time to get out of the city. Hence the drugging.. I'm sure you can tell how I feel about that." Her eyes never leave the other woman's, but she makes an angry jerk of her head towards the camera in the corner of the room.

"And I can at least assure you of this: no one 'threw' you anywhere. I'd be dealing with them personally if they did..."
