A swath of green speckled with myriad flowers during the spring and summer months, it wasn't the largest meadow hidden within the depths of Matope, but it was a respectable haven and the place a young kimeti doe called home. It was a glorious early spring morning when she ventured out of the surrounding brush.
The light made her coat gleam with gold as she stepped into the sunlit clearing. She moved slowly but without nervousness, confident in her awareness of her surroundings. Devotion lifted her head and closed her eyes giving thanks to the Swamp Mother for another day. Comfortable all was clear in the meadow, she bent to graze on her favorite sweet clover.

With his eyes dazzled by the sun it took him a moment to notice the doe. It was her striped feline tail that he noticed first and almost had him sprinting away; but he was frozen startled. The freeze lasted long enough for him to realize that this was no oversized feline but another kin. He breathed a sigh of relief, such a soft sound to change two lives...
