He couldn't explain how he found himself participating in some class or another, but there he was. Perfect. And still in the damned nurse outfit. He might have grumbled a bit if there weren't so many other students around, gathered around Professor Winter as she went on about some trip or another. Rhys wasn't entirely interested, to be honest, but it didn't seem like he'd be able to get away so he crossed his arms and only lowered his arm to sign whatever piece of paper the professor shoved in front of him to allow him to continue on with this class.

"I really hope this thing holds together..." he muttered, clearing his throat somewhere in the middle to at least try and sound convincingly female. He wasn't sure how well he succeeded, but when he was finally given some kind of document that was referred to as a "passport" he was shoved into a line that he assumed would lead to some portal or something that would send him out to observe humans in their natural habitat.

As if he didn't get enough of that at Deus. Rhys sighed and glanced around, even offered a weak smile at the harmless looking student behind him.

"So are these trips to the human world like...a regular thing?" he asked.

The equine demon asked himself for the hundred time why he took a curious glance when he walked past the notice boards. Knowing there would be an extracurricular class soon, it was inevitable that he had to join it. That was what his mother demanded him: to actively participate in all kinds of activites in school. If not, she will be visiting him and it was the least thing Mellow wanted to happen.

He cursed in his heart that all the spies of his mother stumbled and rolled down a hill on his way to Professor Winter's office. The stern female demon was intimidating, Mellow walked towards a seat rigid like a robot and dropped his butt onto the chair. The shaky hands took the piles of papers and they rattled in his hands. As if threatened by the professor he would suffer badly, he scribbled his name onto them without taking a glance over the documents.

What? They are going to human world? Dumbfounded, it was too late to get back the documents he signed and read, he was spaced out most of the time Professor Winter was speaking. When he heard that they were paired up for the activity, he crossed his fingers for the hope to get a male partner. Of course as failed as Mellow, his wish won't be granted.

Upon arrival, he was walking from a distance of two-creeple wide from his partner, an undead ghoul dressed as a nurse. He wasn't dressed up because he won't go trick-or-treat unless he was with his friends. Hearing her weird voice, he hopefully took a glance at their surrounding and sadly discovered she was talking to him. He hesitated for a few second before he replied: "I've no idea. First time."

Mellow had an unhappy experience with an undead bear ghoul and being alone with an undead ghoul made him uncomfortable enough.

Great.

Rhys nodded and pretended that he understood and that was why he stopped asking questions, though in fact he wasn't too satisfied with the answer and kind of needed a little more than what the guy had given him. No use in freaking out the student he was apparently partnered with, at least not yet, so he kept his mouth shut as they wandered the streets.

The small town was unfamiliar to him having grown up in the bleak streets of the cities. The place was quaint and looked like it was pulled straight out of an old storybook, but decorated in Halloween fashion, and there were miniature costumed capers (he assumed little kids) running amok across the street from where they turned up. The streets were busy, but not bustling like the city. There was just enough people to observe for this "assignment," but with doors constantly being opened to give candy to the kids they also had the option of observing from indoors.

"Inside or outside?" he asked after once again in his girlish voice. If he ran into any other hunter while in this garb he wasn't entirely sure he'd be able to live it down.

"I don't mind either one, so you can pick."

It was Mellow's first time to visit the human world, even smaller than the campus, the town they were in was much bigger than his home town. What he saw seemed to suggest humans had a very different concept on decoration than their world. First of all, their pumpkins won't suddenly laugh or attempt to bite creeple putting their hands near. He could brush his fingers over the craved faces of them without worry. The skeleton display wasn't alive either or some undead students would hide under the earth to play pranks on passer-by.

The demon felt he liked this place, and took it a relaxed breathe. The lemon eyes reflected to scene of trick-or-treat. Once again, he felt unfair for the human scarelings to get candies that easily. In his home town, he was requested to put on whatever they wanted him before they would give him the sugar cubes or candies.

When he was admiring the decorations, the ghoul asked again, bringing him to obliviously cringe. The demon frowned obviously and after a long while that she might begin to think he won't answer, he said: "Outside." If he had to run away in cases the undead attacked him, open space would suit better for his advantage.

Stay Outside

Outside it was. Rhys gave his best shrug and "sure no problem" face and started walking down the sidewalk, momentarily forgetting that he was an Undead sort of creature that wasn't supposed to know a thing about the human world. The best place he knew to people watch was nearby food establishments, so he kept his eyes peeled for a small plaza. As luck would have it, there was one not too far from where they were.

"This should be a good spot to watch the humans," he said as he got himself situated in the shadow of a large tree on the edge of a plaza that had establishments that lined the street. There was a cafe, a corner store (he assumed liquor store), a comic book store, and coffee house attached to the library-esque building at the very end. It was bustling with both costumed and non-costumed people, decorated as the rest of the street was in conservative Halloween garb. Rhys kept his eyes peeled and noticed a man passing by with too-tight jeans and a questionable shirt and jacket combination and fedora to top off the strange look.

He made a face, but did notice the bulge in the pocket of his incredibly tight jeans. So he watched and waited until the man pulled out whatever it was to reveal a small lump of bread. He assumed the man was about to throw it out, but to his surprise he simply placed the bread lump back in his pocket and went on his way.

An odd sight, for sure, and one he'd never seen before. He turned to the other student with a questioning look. "What was this class about again? Superstitions, right?"

Mellow paid attention to the distance he kept with undead nurse while she headed down the sidewalk. As skeptical as the equine demon, she was too composed to be in a different world. Her attitude gave out a feeling of - as if she had been living there for such a long period of time. He joined the class reluctantly and had to pair up with a ghoul. In addition, he noticed the said ghoul was very weird. She was viewing all about the human world as normality, that was what Mellow sensed about her.

It was abnormal for a student to visit the human world for enough number of times that she can treat it so calmly. The lemon eyes stared the back of the ghoul, squinting until they were only thin gaps. Mellow took a glance at the surroundings, planned for his escape route in sense of danger. Eventually he was brought to a human plaza. "This should be a good spot to watch the humans," said the ghoul. He was stuck into thinking what she relied on to say so and thus remained silent.

The infrastructures were not too far away from theirs, he could easily spot out what their functions were in one sight. While looking, he had to often evade the humans came for him. Most of the time, he wondered how reliable the magic was. It was intimidating when the human marched towards him. He looked upward to the tall building that was a rare scene in their world and then stared at a store with books. He wished he could be split up with the ghoul and spent his time there.

Wish was a wish, it was not possible. After making a sigh, he walked towards the tree where the ghoul was, remembered they were a team for the class. Mellow noticed the ghoul was staring at a human and witnessed what he did. It was a odd sight, even a town boil like him won't put foods in his pocket. His body unwillingly jolted as the ghoul asked him question again.

He was glad he could give a short reply, "Yes." He averted his eyes away, abruptly something came into sight. It was a bonfire, circled by small pebbles at its periphery. Weird, humans were too weird. He nudged one away to ruin the perfect circle with a bored face and thinking to tell Torsten about it when he got back.

The other student wasn't very forthcoming, with his short answers. This time it was only one word, but given that his question had been a question that warranted that kind of answer he let it go. The 'yes' was sufficient anyway, so rather than grill the student about being more accommodating and sociable he turned his eyes back to the humans and watched for other odd signs.

There was an old woman on a bench that was acting a little...weird. She was tying knots into a handkerchief for some odd reason, yet another thing he'd never seen before. Or if he had it didn't leave enough of an impact to become even the vaguest of memories.

Rhys turned to the student again and though about trying once again to start a conversation, but gave up mid-way and looked toward the crowds again to try and spot another oddity.

Even in silence, Mellow was watchful of the surroundings. His nerves all tensed up like a stretched web and the anxiety lingered, his tail obliviously brushed abruptly in reflection of his emotions.

Since he was not far away, he saw the weird old woman as well. Even she didn't look scary, her behaviour and expression were creepy enough. Sometimes, Mellow didn't understand why humans fear of them when some of them were quite spooky already. Tying knots into a handkerchief was her attempt to curse someone? The boil didn't understand.

He took a quick glance at the undead ghoul but straightly met with her deadly eyes and averted from her. Jack, she looked as creepy as that human old lady. On the direction he turned his head towards, he spotted the weird man with the too-tight jeans and the bread was still in his pocket.

Rhys kept his eye on the woman, counting the knots she was tying and wondering if it had anything at all do with some superstition or another. He wasn't very superstitious himself, and he only knew about the more common ones. Black cats, breaking mirrors, and walking under ladders. Knotting handkerchiefs was...well, it really just seemed like an odd behavior or habit.

He glanced sideward toward the other student and followed his gaze to the man in the too-tight jeans and made a face. The little piece of bread in his pocket was still there; it was as odd as knotting handkerchiefs.

"Humans and their odd habits," he muttered in his odd, girlish voice before going back to observing the old woman and her handkerchief. It was all knotted up now...and he briefly pondered what she would do with it.

While Rhys had his eyes on the old woman, Mellow has his on the weird men loitering around the plaza. He frowned and couldn't understand his behaviour at all, he was confident that the human wasn't hungry, after seeing him came out of a cafe.

It felt much relaxed staring the same thing, his defense dropped considerably. As a result, the lucky undead ghoul stole (in Mellow's words) a reply from him. "Yup, they're weird. So weird." His eyes felt heavy, it was the afternoon time, and usually he would be taking a nice nap with Torsten. Mellow's eyes eventually glaze over the mobile crowd and got drowsy.

Suddenly, coming from nowhere was a deafening clamor. Big humans held hands with their scarelings and a flush of unleashed scarelings romping around, all dressed up. Mellow was scared and he jumped on, on something. It was odd to see a cluster of scarelings with wolf ears, witch hats and pumpkin head just like their kindergarten. He squinted his eyes to take a better look at them and shortly noticed they were just human scarelings. The demon frowned at them, bemused by their disguises.

Only after he was calm, he realized he was grasping on something. First, it was cold and didn't feel like tree. Second, it was hard but not as hard as rock...... He turned his head and met with a pair of red deadly eyes. He neighed and jumped off her arms. OH MY JACK! How come he jumped onto a ghooooooul? He was flustered, face changing from red to white and red again. His ears folded and tail froze up straight.

The too-tight jeans guy was just really getting on his nerves, and he couldn't help but keep looking back at him and making a face at the lump in the guy's pocket that he knew was bread. Had the other student not jumped in his lap for some reason or another (he was too distracted by too-tight-jeans-obsessed-with-bread guy that he didn't notice why) Rhys felt like he would gone over there and picked the bread out of his pocket just to give him a piece of his mind.

But no, for maybe two or three seconds there was a student in his lap for some reason and he stared down at him in shock until Mellow scrambled off of his lap. Rhys watched as the other's face turned various shades of red and white and red but couldn't say much of anything at all.

"Uh..." he started rather lamely and in his ridiculous voice. "Everything okay?"

He was really surprised that the ghoul didn't tease him for that and remained so calm at what just happened. It didn't match with the impression ghouls always left him with, Mellow felt she was different from the beginning unlike other ghouls who gave him a feeling of walking on crocodiles' back. With her, he felt like walking on a fluffy cloud, uncertain but might be potentially dangerous, yet nothing really happened so far.

So confused for his sensation towards the undead ghoul, he replied her casual words. "EVERYTHING's fine," stressed the demon who had no intention to let Rhys find out he was startled by some human scarelings. He averted from the ghoul and noticed some raised their hands high up while they walked, the city night didn't have many stars with the heavy light and air pollution. Mellow noticed that even someone talked to them, they never look at their eyes and kept raising their heads up. He frowned at the weird humans once again, then shifted to stared at the human scarelings and their candy buckets. Do their candies taste as sweet as the Halloween's? Will theirs scream and bite? The boil gazed at the colorful candies and pondered quietly.

Rhys only looked at the other student with a sort of weirded out expression when he replied, a little irritated at his tone. The guy hadn't been the greatest company, quiet and uninformative. He wouldn't have much to report back about, which was good because he didn't really want to write up a long report, but it would've been cool if he had a little more to write about than what he'd gathered so far.

"If you're sure, then I think we should probably head back now. All I've really noticed is that old woman and that ridiculous guy in the jeans," he pointed to the two in question. He didn't wait and started going back to where the portal had been when they first got there, but did pause to look back and ask a question. Another attempt at conversation, maybe.

"What about you?"

The undead ghoul was a weird one, might she be not pleased by his presence or whatever, he didn't put into his mind. Having a female company when he was in a world he first been to was bad enough for Mellow to keep a good attitude. In contrast to Rhys, he observed a few things he would suspect of so called human superstitions.

He followed behind her again, in prevention she would dump him anytime but kept a considerable distance. He paused when she asked, moved his mouth when it was still closed. ".......A ring of peddles around a died out bonfire, the same man with breads, human scarelings pretended to be us and some who refused to look down." Using his flat voice without much intonation showed, he told what he had aware of.

"That's all."
