Ever heard of the rennaissance painter Raphael? He's perhaps one the most well respected, and most loved painters in history, and he borrowed stuff from everyone and everything he saw. Looking at other artists work, be it drawing, painting, photograph or sculpture, is something every artist should do, and it can only help you. The trick is learning how to take something you see, and make it your own; sprinkle some of yo' own flava' in that dish. My dad is a proffessional artist and he says every artist alive, and every artist that has ever lived is part of The Great Conversation; a creative exchange between eachother to futher artistc expression.
So yeah, short answer; keep on truckin' Kyo. mrgreen

Yes, as long as it's not straight up copieng line for line it's fine. It's called "inspiration" nearly all artists use it at some point. Not only that but if you truly enjoy a piece on art and it can truly improve the look of your own then doing so seems perfectly fine, once again though as long as its not just exact copieng.

The line between copying and simply using it as reference or inspiration is thin and blurry... but I always get inspired and start drawing because of some other image.
Also I use stock photos as pose references all them time biggrin
