So for the past 3 months register #3 has had a broken pin pad. Cards don’t usually work, and the pen doesn’t function whatsoever. The pad doesn’t register its pressure but for some reason it does with fingers. Therefore we all made signs in big, bold letters saying “Pen doesn’t work, use finger!!”

The first sign we made we taped to the side of the register. People continued using the pen, likely not seeing the sign.

We made a second sign and taped it onto the bottom of the pin pad. People started asking, “Can I use chip?” Dudes. The sign isn’t preventing you from using chip whatsoever. It’s just saying the pen is broken. Oftentimes people would still grab the pen and use it.

We shifted the notice to the top of the register. People ripped it off, thinking it would block their way from sliding their cards. It never did. We remade that sign 6 times.

Last straw. We printed on one slip of paper and put it ON THE PIN PAD RIGHT ABOVE THE SCREEN ITSELF that the pen hadn’t been working. People still grabbed the pen and asked why it wasn’t working. We pointed to the notice JUST IN FRONT OF THEIR FACES and the people gave up and walked away.

We finally left that sign, took the pen and hung it over the register, far away from customers. Customers still found the cord, pulled it, ignored the sign, and got mad the pen wasn’t working.

Tonight. I cracked. ******** INDUSTRIAL PACKING TAPE AND LAYERS UPON LAYERS UPON LAYERS OF IT TAPING THIS GODSFOREAKEN PEN ONTO THE COUNTER SO NOBODY CAN PULL THE DAMN THING AND USE IT, THEY’LL BE FORCED TO USE THEIR FINGERS LIKE THE GODDAMN SIGN HAS TOLD YOU FOR 3 MONTHS IF YOU’D JUST READ!!!!!
