My professor is insane. I mean, he means well with his teachings, and at least he realizes when he's been rude then makes up for it oftentimes yet not always, but SEVERAL things have happened thus far proving his insanity. And I've only had his class twice.

Note, everything this professor says is announced to the entire class. Nothing is private, and all his words are loud and clear for the next 50 miles for anybody to hear he's so loud.

One girl raised her hand. "Professor?"
"Yes?"
"I think this class may be a little too basic for me," she said.
Frowning, the professor walked to a large box and dragged it into the center of the room. Pointing to the girl before the entire class he said, "Open your drawing pad and draw this box for me. If you can draw it perfectly then you can take another class."
The girl, confused, proceeded to draw, the professor stalking right over her shoulder. Upon finishing, she showed him.
The professor frowned once more. "My dear, you can't draw. You can create but you can't draw."
The girl pulled out her phone and displayed drawings she did. I personally didn't see them, but the professor argued then, "That is just tracing. Art isn't just copying and tracing it's creating."
The girl told him she didn't trace those drawings.
"Well still, you can't draw," he told before the entire class again. "You need to take this class and learn how to draw."

---------------------------------------------------------

The professor began teaching everyone 1 and 2 point perspective drawing. When done, he asked everybody to draw boxes in 1 and 2 point perspective without his guidance. He walked around, commenting on everybody's work.
"This is unacceptable," he said to one. "Erase it. Do it all over again."
The student had legit no option but to erase the drawing and start from nothing.
The professor returned. "No, still wrong. This is unacceptable. Practice at home, and you need to get this right. Do it again."
From there, the professor proceeded to walk to everyone and whoever's drawings were not absolutely perfect done in the exact order with 100% perfect and even proportions, he told them to erase and redo the drawing all over again. 5 students, myself included, had to do this.
"Unacceptable. No. Wrong. This is entirely wrong." His harsh critique knew no end.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------

When our class began and everybody received syllabuses, and multiple things were listed which everyone needed to buy, each item VERY specific. One item was an 18x24 inch drawing pad.
One girl who came into class with a huge smile on her face, joyous and entirely prepared with all her materials and drawing board and portfolio perfectly set up, opened her drawing pad.
The professor walked to this girl and frowned. "Unacceptable," he said, grabbing her drawing pad. He flipped it to the cover and set it before her, pointing to the text. "You aren't going to get an A in my class. You will not do well in my class. I specifically said 75-80 pound drawing paper and you're using SKETCH paper that's 50 pounds. It needs to be 75-80 pounds! This is unacceptable!!"
Mind you, we needed to buy all our materials ourselves, and the drawing pads are minimum $40 each. With content inside it already this poor girl couldn't return the pad. Not to mention she's now required to drop another $40+ on another pad just because she accidentally bought the wrong paper.

--------------------------------------------

While the professor went around checking everyone's 1 point perspective boxes he stopped about 1/3 of the way around the circle.
"Ok. You know what? None of you know how to draw straight lines. Your homework tonight: draw 100 boxes."
We confusedly remained silent.
"You need to learn how to draw!" he argued. "None of you know how to draw, and none of you know how to draw a straight line! How can you draw if you can't even make a basic line?!"
Toward the end of class there was roughly 45 minutes left. The professor said, despite class being finished, "If you're done with your perspective drawings do the homework."
He wouldn't let anyone go until they finished the homework.

-----------------------------------------------

This is just a 101 course. It's the basic one. Like... the kind you'd take just for fun. But this class isn't anything fun. I'm just damn glad I have patience because if I didn't I'd have walked the hell out of there on the first day. There's a lot I can learn with this professor's rigid teachings, but I'm not very fond of him overall.

Get out of that class. Talk to someone like the vice of instruction.

I know this is a late reply, but that is just...insane. Are you still in the class? If so, how is it going?
