Every year in Big City, just as the seasons start to turn, the weather gets cooler, and autumn touches the air, something special happens. No - we're not talking about the crispness of morning or the taste of freshly harvested goods; we're talking about the massive, twisting affair that seems, for most citizens, to spring up overnight on any one of the city's vacant lots. The Spooky Simulacrum is an experience, not only an event; every year its myriad corridors are different, with new spooks and scares meant to delight animals of all ages and surprising treats littered throughout its space. Resembling a large, cobbled-together, ancient mansion, even its outer facade gives a certain sense of unease - and that's just what it's supposed to do.

Of course, it's not magic; it's an illusion, just like everything else in the place. Months of planning go into each year's Simulacrum, from concepting in the summer to secretly building and revealing in the fall, and every year it takes just as much work to tear down the pieces and salvage or sell the materials left over. The massive 'haunted house' is one of Big City's biggest tourist events, kicking off several months of events as well, from Halloween to Feast Days to Winter Giving, making it a sort of welcome to the busy cold months. Of course, it's also just a darling favorite of the locals, being something exciting to look forward to each year; after all, most people don't make it all the way through. Most don't even make it halfway!

There's always the draw of prizes as well; everyone knows, of course, that if you make it all the way through the Simulacrum, there's an amazing mystery prize waiting for you...

EVENT RULES

Event begins: Now!
Event ends: After final prompt or after final player is knocked out of the game.

  1. You must join on round one to play, sorry!

  2. Each day, everyone will be given a prompt to respond to with multiple choice answers. All you have to do is pick that your villager wants to do. Don't have a villager? Let con or Vari know, first of all - but just pretend that you do for picking your prompt!

  3. The next day, the results of those choices will be quoted to the appropriate users. If you get knocked out, that's it! You've lost the game. Sit back and enjoy the other part of the event over here, if you'd like! You'll still get points just for playing, however.

No RP response is required to participate. You can just answer a letter each day to keep playing. However, for each post that you do create an RP response for, you'll get bonus points at the end of the event for buying fabulous prizes. This is based on creating at least a 300 word response; longer responses will not earn more points, but you may also turn your posts in for BCC credit if you wish!

You may edit your RP responses in later, as long as it's before the end of the event. You may NOT change what choice you picked after the fact. We will be keeping a record of every choice and if you are caught doing so you will be immediately blacklisted. We don't tolerate cheaters here!

It's opening day at the Spooky Simulacrum, and you've managed to get in line for the first wave of explorers! It's been a whole year since the last one, and you can tell everyone around you is stoked for the experience. The line is buzzing with animals chattering and speculating about what might be inside; you hear that last year someone got stuck in some kind of hall that seemed to go on forever, and someone else got chased out by floating kitchen knives!

You've been told it's all special effects and illusions, of course, but that doesn't make it any less thrilling to those around you, it seems. The outside of the event is helping to wind up that tension, too; the 'mansion' looks to be absolutely decrepit, with two strangely cobbled towers rising up on either side of it. The grass around is dark and stained oddly, and there's a misty ambiance around the whole thing, even in the daytime! The path leading up to the place, at least, is in good condition - looks like the mayor didn't want to risk anyone falling and hurting themselves on uneven footing, but it's still a long wait.

Hundreds of citizens will stand in the same line over the coming month, after all, you just got to be one of the lucky first round!

Eventually, it is your time to enter the mansion! As the oddly dead-eyed attendant - are they that tired already? - waves you through, the massive double doors open slowly of their own accord with a deep groan. It's dark and quiet in the room beyond, and it takes a moment for your senses to adjust. It smells heavily of old carpet and dust in the massive foyer that you enter into; above, a candle-lit chandelier sways slightly in an unfelt breeze, spreading dim light into the area. Immediately before you, a large staircase lifts upward to split into a second floor, the walkway of which rims the foyer itself. To your left, there are a set of double doors, and to the right, a singular, smaller door. Overall, the entire room seems very empty; there are some vacant shelves, yet nothing on them, giving a very abandoned feeling to the whole place.

In the distance, you can hear something - a scream? Creepy, but you know that in order to make it deeper into the Simulacrum - and to the coveted prize! - you'll need to get a move on. Besides, you're not going to get any good scares standing around in an empty foyer, right?

Do you...

A: Check out the double doors on the left.

B: Check out the smaller, single door on the right.

C: Skip the first floor, go up the stairs to check out the second floor walkway.

Please make your choices by Oct. 2nd 3rd, 11:59 PM CST!

Kelvin was super excited for this. He had already secretly stolen sweets from other citizens in line when they weren't looking. All his eyes looked into different directions as it was his turn to make a move. The scream in the distance only made him laugh and salivate at the same time. The set of double doors intrigued him. as if he was part of a game, he followed after a ghostie, went left, and was ready to push those doors open with them..curious to find out where it would take them inside the mansion.. worst case scenario, he'd just eat his enemy if they get in his way. lol.

Jack stood outside the event waiting to get into the Mansion. With his hands in his pockets he took note of the make shift ambiance. There was a rolling mist, probably from a fog machine and the grass had been painted to give the illusion of a spreading darkness. He scoffed. He wouldn't even be doing something like this if it weren't for the so called prize for those who made it through. His friends wanted to go as a group but he figured they will just lead him to being first to be eliminated. It seemed he would be lucky enough to be part of the first people invited in. As the large doors opened he walked into the foyer of the so called "haunted house". Everyone was excited to be spooked but he had no intentions of being scared out of the place. He didn't really care about exploring every inch of dusky entrance. If he wanted that prize he would need to keep moving deeper. Its not like there was anything to see here. They could've at least including a self playing piano or.. candles that illuminated when they entered. If this was all the "Spooky" Simulacrum had to offer this was going to be a piece of cake. Jack decides to C: skip the first floor, go up the stairs to check out the second floor walkway.. At least one, if not both of the doors downstairs were a trap and he wasn't going to take that gamble. He almost would almost pity those who fell into it but they wanted to be scared and that also meant less competition. As he ascended the staircase he could tell someone put in a lot of effort to make the place seem old and forgotten. Bring it on.

Waiting was boooring.

The shark just wanted to be done with this line, wanted it to be his turn to get into the Haunted House. Everything that Rokki had heard about it had made it sound like it couldn't be missed, that this was THE thing to do this Halloween.

He just hadn't thought about how long that might make the line.

He bounced in place as he waited, eager to be scared. The outside was a good start, the decorations a big help with the atmosphere. It made the place look ominous, the perfect sort of setting for this kind of adventure.

The inside was dark, and it took a moment for his eyes to adjust. The area seemed empty, the smell of old carpet and dust lending itself to the abandoned feeling. He had several options of which way to go, and as he heard a scream, he made the decision. He wasn't ready to go upstairs, but the small single door drew his attention.

Might as well go that way.

Remix wasn't really one for thought, but that scream? Man, that was a sick beat if he ever heard one. He needed that s**t on record.

While normally Sonata wouldn't have felt so inclined to going on a jog, let alone one through a haunted mansion, all of the excitement throughout the town made it impossible to nap either in his house or outside. Rather than grumble the rest of the night do to the lack of pre-rest before bed down time Sonata thought it best to see what the whole commotion was about. Which led to him being here now and regretting his choice to be a less grumpy person when he doesn't get enough rest as he was now faced with an almost impossible scary choice to choose from. Surely no matter where he chose to go there was a fright lingering just out of sight to scare him which challenged his normally lax attitude to stay calm. Sweating a little Sonata followed the lead of the villager ahead of him and he reached for the smaller door on the right.

Namida was super excited to be in the first round of getting to look around the Simulacrum with her friend Peekaboo!! Keeping a tight hold of his hand, she dragged him inside the moment their way was clear. Tail wagging and ears perked up for the slightest of sounds, she glanced around before turning abruptly to the double doors on the left

"There!!" she declared, dragging Peekaboo toward it. His intent to have a look around denied, he nearly tripped over himself at the sound of the possible scream.

West had scarcely taken more than a step inside when he felt his nose begin to twitch. It started as a gentle tickle, but quickly turned into a burning sensation in his nostrils. He knew that feeling all too well.

“Uh oh...” West glanced around—penned in on every side by eager guests. He bounced in place, searching for a way through the small crowd. All the while, the fire in his snout intensified. It was like hot magma, boiling up through the crust of his being, surging towards the surface in a violent...

“ATCHOO!” or “EE-AW!” to be more accurate. The dragon sneezed and made a sound like a braying donkey. He sneezed again, then again, and then several more times until everyone around him had fled. When West finished, he wiped his snout and stared rather sadly at the tattered remains of the beard drifting from his face. Oh well.

Adjusting his “robe” (in fact an ordinary snuggie), West looked at the others, some of which were regarding him with a mix of concern and alarm. “It's just the uh... ghosts. Wizards are very allergic,” he explained. No one looked convinced. That or they didn't care. Sheepishly, the dragon slunk off towards the small door.

As he waited for the guests ahead of him to pass through it, he glanced once more around the foyer, this time truly taking in the breath-taking spooky decor. Suddenly his face lit up upon spotting a colourful wolf at the opposite end of the room.

“Whoaaa! What an amazing costume!” he yelled over the crowd. “Did you make that yourself?”
