Maeko was standing in front of the bar. Her green eyes focused on the door, trying to will herself to just go in. She bit at her lip and fidgeted in place. She was overthinking this, she just had to go in and talk. Go in. And talk. Maeko huffed, arms crossed as she built up her nerve to walk in. The pale gal would stomp her foot and growl out. Taking her first step towards actually taking control of what she wants. Instead of just being the lost Puppy without their own independence. She shoved open the door to the bar, proudly pushing her way in. 'SMACK!'
The girl, in her new found confidence, tripped right over the welcome mat that was just inside, smacking her body fully on the floor. 'I-I wanna die. ********> Maeko thought to herself. She prayed he wasn't behind the counter, 'Dear Evergreen, please for all that's holy let him not be here today...' Her confidence was gone, and her nose really stung, along with her forehead. In fact there'd soon bet an ugly bruise across her forehead and blood was already dribbling from her nostrils. Maeko kept her eyes shut tight, before finally pushing herself up to stand, hand pinching her nose shut as she glanced around. People chuckling, some people had ignored it entirely. An older gentleman was trying to help her, but she was scanning for Takao.

Can only be used up to the rank the user has access to. Cost one activation to block the strike, and another to launch the counter strike. If the user only has one activation left, then the block will occur, but not the counter attack. If the user has no activations left, then this ability does not work. This stance last for 6 post. Takao hummed a tune as he walked down the street, not a care in the world. He'd finished his hand at the hospital and really wanted to escape the smell of medicine for a bit. Fresh air was helping but he really wanted something with citrus and hard alcohol. He turned into the bar to see a familiar form ahead of him - the white-haired girl from before. "Maeko?" He cocked his head to the side, unsure if it was actually her or if he had correctly remembered her name.
If she turned around, he would notice her bloody nose and leap into action, not entirely out of hospital-mode. While he was no expert, he was a bit of a jack of all trades and knew medical jutsu well enough to manage something as simple as healing hands. He focused his healing chakra to his hands as he reached for her face without further comment, one hand at the back of her head to keep her still and the other hovering over her nose to stop any bleeding and fix any cartilage outta shape. "Geez, I thought you won most of those fights you got in," he commented mindlessly as he healed her face up.

'Why do I even bother. Damn it, Evergreen...' Maeko was frozen, she couldn't have been lucky for once. With a sigh, from her mouth, she'd turn. Holding her nose as he seemed to come in close. "Yeah, it's me..." She responded with a nasally rasp from her pinched nose. Mae's eyes went wide as he clasped his hand over her nose, enough not to touch though. Takao's hand pressed into the softness of her white hair. She could feel warmth as he poured chakra into her wounded nose, even relieving pain in her forehead. She had a growing blush across her face from the close interaction. "Well, it's hard t-to beat gravity. Haven't even drank yet, and I face planted the floor..." Maeko still had that rasp, but it was getting better. "You smell like old people and rubbing alcohol."

Takao laughed at her misfortune before schooling his expression. "I think, maybe, drinking shouldn't be on the day planner then." He took his hands off of her and stuffed them in his pockets as he shrugged at her assessment. "Uh, yeah. I was at the hospital. Trying to hone my iryojutsu abilities since I never received a formal education for it." He looked away from her, evidently embarrassed about his skill level. He could barely keep pace with actual iryojutsu students when they cared to operate slowly. He was no medic, but he dabbled in the arts.
"Anyways, I didn't figure you for a regular at this place. I don't see you around here often. You meeting someone?"

When she was finally free, she started to chuckle at his words. "It actually wasn't on the agenda." She'd start, before catching his words, she was absolutely enthralled and responded with, "I think you are awesome at it, you totally couldn't have fixed my nose, ya know?" a huge smile across her face. Maeko praised him, moving close as he looked away. "I'm far from a regular, when we met it was my first time trying the place out. I-Uh..." Mae'd grow quiet, staring into his eyes, a hand moving to grip her own forearm, across her chest. A look away then a look back to him. "I was looking for you actually. I wanted to see if you'd like to go grab some Barbeque with me. There's this really good place just down the way, you cook it in front of you! I'll pay." Maeko was beaming at him, but totally freaking out inside, a dribble of sweat was rolling down her temple, face turning pink. "I-I owe you is all!"'I totally don't wanna get to know you! NOPE! THAT'S NOT IT!'

Takao averted his gaze at her compliment, his cheeks feeling hot. He looked up briefly when she admitted she was searching for him but he looked at the ground again, suddenly sheepish and rubbing his head. "Er, well I'm not technically a bartender. Heh, I just fool around and the owner lets me since I bring in some regulars myself." He scanned the bar area, not seeing anyone he recognized. It would probably be fine if he didn't stick around today.
"I'm down for some barbecue! I'll try not to eat ya into poverty," he said with a hearty laugh. "I'm hopeless in the kitchen but maybe I'll learn something watching them," he said as he turned on his heels, grabbing the door and holding it open for Maeko. "Lead the way, dear lady."

Maeko realized, he was just as awkward as she was. This made her blush even more. "P-Pshhh, I know, dummy." She was gazing at him, her eyes looking him up and down, examining what tattoos were visible. Her arm was still crossed, gripping her forearm tight. Waiting for his response. Expecting a no bu-"REALLY?!" She blurted out, hands smacking to her mouth as she went entirely scarlet. "I-I-I uh...I mean! I-Yeah! Actually, they bring th-the meats out, we cook them! You'll get it when we get there." Her hand shot out, suddenly gripping his, to pull him along, after she slipped through the door. Maeko could tell he wasn't some brute, his hands felt soft, with the obvious signs of some callousing. 'He knows how to groom, I like that...'
A few minutes of tugging Takao down the street they arrived, the smell of sizzling meats were in the air, and as they slipped inside and were seated. She gave him a grin. "I haven't been here for a long time, but they have excellent Sake! And its all you can eat, just, let me know when you're almost full, they charge you for any left over meat." Their waiter would bring out all their sides. Seasoned soybean sprouts, spicy cucumber salad, braised potatoes, kimchi and stir fried glass noodles. Along with a side of fermented soybean paste and soy sauce. "They'll bring out more sides, just ask when you want more. I-I'll cook the meats if you want, I suggest we start with the Pork Belly. Its the classic, its sooooo gooooooood!" Maeko was excited, for a gal who was relatively skinny, she loved to eat. This is the first time she's really been able to go out an eat at a restaurant for awhile. Since her psychiatry started at least. She'd kept to herself primarily, wanting to focus on her mental state, not to mention the oncologist appointments. Things were looking up with that though. "Wh-Where are you from, Takao-San?"

Takao's tummy rumbled at the thought, letting Maeko lead him through town until they entered the BBQ place he'd never been to. The smell put him in heaven and he quickly went to town on the sides they brought out. He ate enthusiastically as Maeko explained what was going to happen. "Sure, can't go wrong with pork. I trust you with the meat, Maeko. Especially since, y'know, I'm prone to burning things." He chuckled as he used his chopsticks to pick up a bit of potato with the noodles, mixing the foods without care until realizing she was looking at him.
He wasn't one for propriety in a lot of senses, but he swallowed and tried to act like he'd been raised with manners. "Uh, not from here," he answered evasively. "Why, I seem like an outsider?" Though he asked it with an amused expression, he didn't meet her eyes at the idea of it.
"Who taught you how to cook?" He was eager to have some meat as he ate like he'd never had anything before. "Do they serve anything sweet here like lemonade? I've got a bit of a sweet tooth," he admitted sheepishly, hoping she didn't think he was a kid.

"Oooh, its real easy! They slice the meat super thin so it cooks really fast!" She watched as he scarfed down food, a big stupid, happy grin on her face. "I thought so, and yeah, but I should know. I am an immigrant too. I was on my own a long time before I found Arashi as a kid." He might not of met her eyes, but she certainly kept her's affixed to his. When Takao asked about her cooking she turned pink. "Oh, jeez, I can barely cook, this is just really easy. I...my mom never had the chance to teach me." Her face seemed to drop, at the mention of her mother.
For a few moments, an old habit arose, she grew distant and put on a mask. Practically staring right through him. As if she were looking at something that was so far away. It lasted a mere second or two, before she shook her head. "S-Sorry, y-yeah they got lemonade!" Her parents were on her mind now, but she did her best to not let it get to her. Her hand shot out and stopped the waiter, she requested a plate of Pork Belly, and asked for a small jug of warm sake, Lemonade and Green Tea for herself. All of which would be brought out a few minutes later. They even included two small bowls for the Sake, to share between them. A glass of water with her hot tea. Maeko reached for the meat with chopsticks and placed about half of it on the hot plate in the center of the table. Letting it cook."So you are a medical Nin'?"

Takao was taken by memories of his youth as Maeko revealed a bit of her childhood. "We 'found' Arashigakure too. My parents were fleeing from my home country, though I was too young to know why. In fact, the details are fuzzy whenever my parents tell me. Not that I see much of them, anyways. Always doing some religious retreat."
He admired her cooking ability, though as she said it was quite easy. He watched it cook as she ordered drinks for them. He was on the fence about drinking sake, but favored the lemonade enough to quench any thirst. "Not a medical ninja in any formal sense, no. I help at the hospital here or there to help pick up tricks but I was never taught advanced ninjutsu. I didn't test well enough for any one affinity, but I can dabble in medical jutsu and sensory stuff just fine." His face was beaming as he talked about his own abilities; it did appear one of his favorite topics was himself.
"But, uh, you're not a medical nin either, huh? I can't imagine that being very safe since it seems like you find trouble one way or another." Though he was mostly teasing, his eyes fell on one of her many scars, and he still found himself watching her nose as if it would begin bleeding again at any moment.

Maeko was doing her best to keep a smile on her face, now that we were talking about family. She wanted to bring up her's but didn't wanna bring down the mood. So for the moment she just smiled and listened intently. About the cooking, all Maeko was doing was simply turning the meat over when one side was done. The fact that this had him awestruck, did make her a bit happy. She gave him half of the meat and plated her own. Dipping some in the sauces, while using kimchi with the other. By no means though, was she being dainty or entirely minding her manners. She was eating about like he had been, between bouts of talk. She listened while enjoying her all time favorite food.
"I see, well I think that's awesome. I'm surprised we haven't run into each other at all. I go there for appointments weekly." Another topic she wouldn't get into, unless he prodded. Once again, not wanting to bring down the mood. "I see, I actually didn't go to the academy. My...well they were my clan. They taught me the basics, and I just studied the rest once I was here. I'm originally a Kaguya. But I...I still have my Kekkei Genkai of course but I'm not allowed to carry the Name." That's the most basic way she could explain things, before adding. "I'm great with Taijutsu and Bukijutsu. I use Hone-Han no Tsuyomi, my Gunbai, my Father passed it on to me. As well as my fists and feet." She was referring to her prowess with Fissure Kicking and her Kaiser Fist. Maeko was excited to talk about her abilities. "When paired with my bone stuff it makes a pretty good combo, not that I can use it much right now."
It seemed like every topic she brought up kept going back to one or two things. Her family or her illness. Then Takao's last phrase, albeit it teasing, hit her like a truck. Did he know about all that had happened? Had he heard how she went nuts? Or was he just teasing about her nose and tripping. Her scars certainly made it known that she wasn't a goody goody two shoes. "N-Nah. I'm a Shinobi, not that they send me on to many missions now a days. I...did someone tell you about me? Or were you just joking?" Maeko's happy gaze was replaced with one of worry, and a tinge of fear. "I-If they said something about me, it's probably true..." She was quiet now, staring down at her food, waiting to see if she hopefully, assumed wrong.
Dance of the Larch: Absolute Defense [ A ] This is a supplemental technique. The user first prepares themselves by channeling chakra throughout all of their bones. Then, when the user is struck with a tai or bukijutsu technique, the user is able to have a plate of bones first protect the area which was struck equal rank to the strike provided. Then, the user launches a counter attack, which converts the opponentโs strength stat which they used the technique into the speed of which the bone blades rise out of the user to impale the target. Can only be used up to the rank the user has access to. Cost one activation to block the strike, and another to launch the counter strike. If the user only has one activation left, then the block will occur, but not the counter attack. If the user has no activations left, then this ability does not work. This stance last for 6 post. "I usually help out with pediatrics. Kids and stuff, so it makes sense that I wouldn't run into you there. Getting your battle wounds checked?" He chuckled. He was building an image of Maeko in his head that was quite the beserker.
"They won't let you bear the name? Why do I feel like you're a bigger troublemaker than you've let on..." The tone was conspiratorial but he broke into a smile after the intense moment, shoving a forkful of pork in his mouth. He was unfamiliar with the gunbai, preferring the more traditional katana and knives for himself. He would need to see her fight some time.
He caught a waiter's attention and requested seafood - any seafood that they were trying to get rid of - before turning back to Maeko as she grew paranoid. "Er, no not really. You are a troublemaker, huh? I used to hang out with all the class clowns as a kid, so it's nice to see that hasn't changed. You do a lot of pranks around the village or something?" He hadn't noticed her tenseness, taking everything in a more light tone.
That is, until he had an epiphany. "Oh my god, you're not allergic to seafood are you? Like, shellfish? Ah, I should've asked before I caught the waiter." He face palmed, feeling suddenly guilty even as his mouth watered at the idea of fish, his favorite meat.

"D'aawh...well I certainly hope you're licensed since you obviously aren't with bartending!" Maeko would ignore the last question there, his joking about her wounds. She would answer it, but not yet. She listened to him, letting him finish, frowning as he got all serious. Her worries melted though, that dumb grin breaking her down into a giggle fit. It got harder, listening to him, giving her a break when he stopped the waiter, and by the time Takao was talking directly to her again, she'd gotten control of herself some. "N-No I promise I'm not a troublemaker. Nooooo I don't prank anyone! Closest I came was showing you how my bone jutsu works."
She was quiet for a few moments till his latest outburst caused her giggling to start up again, it was bad, it wa-'SNORT!' Maeko was scarlet again, hiding her face behind her hands. She was embaressed, but her giggles got harder. She just snort laughed in front of him. 'aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa' is all that went through her mind for the moment. Mae' did her best to compose herself, giggling between words. "N-Nooo, not allergic. Pleasedon'tusethatagainstmeaaaaaaah! I-I really like fish so its fine, lets act like that didn't just happen..." Mae' would beg a bit, wanting to put her outrageous snort behind her.
He had successfully brightened her quickly diminishing mood with his attitude, which she found adorable. "Anyway, you asked about my appointments. Not wounds but, uh...oncology.. I have a form of Bone Cancer in my head, which is a bit ironic, since I'm a Kaguya." She said it, out right. It felt good to be open and honest with someone.

Takao's concern was faced with Maeko snorting, and he was quite taken aback. He had been so worried she would get sick that he hadn't realistically considered that shellfish allergies weren't all that common and she probably would've said something when he ordered.
"I- I- well," he stuttered as he tried to defend himself. He stewed as his face reddened, though he had a moment of reprieve as she revealed she had bone cancer. "..." He wasn't sure what to say to that. It was unintentional, but his gaze turned pitying as he looked at her in a brand new light with this new information. "I had no idea."
He looked at his plate as he thought of things to say, but how would you respond to a near stranger's declaration of having cancer. "Is... is it going okay?"

Maeko was totally not expecting that reaction. Her hands went up, making an 'X' as she shook her head. "Yes! Its okay!! I promise. The doctor's say I have really good chances! I uh, I take medication and my appointments are for the chemotherapy." She tried to explain as best she could, before pointing to his food. "Eat and be merry, yeah? I'm sorry if I turned the meal sour with sad news. But its life. I have been doing a lot better since I started. I can't use my Bone Jutsu that much though, or it can have adverse effects. I was even pushing it when I showed off last time at the bar." Maeko was speaking faster than she could think. "I-I don't usually get so like, enthusiastic about people and my psychatrist told me I needed to try and be more outgoing and stuff...you got me excited. So even though I wasn't supposed to, it made me happy..." About that time the waiter returned with an assortment of seafood for the young man to cook on the hotplate, along with their pork belly. Mae' used this as a respite to scarf down some food so she'd stop making things worse. Which, she felt like she might be doing. But she did add one last bit. "Please don't treat me any different, it would mean the world to me, ya know?"
